This is a must-do tour of London's East End; get to know the area and, in this case, art you would only glance at on your own, without really seeing or understanding the people and meanings behind it. Dave is a skilled, knowledgeable, and entertaining tour guide. Street art is a key part of the area, and you will learn so much in such a short time while enjoying exploring. We had a great time and highly recommend this tour,

Itinerary
This is where we meet for our public street art tours
We walk to Brick Lane (NOT the police station) via side streets to look at many locations where we see street art, some low down, some up high, some small bronze castings, some huge murals 3 stories tall.
The tour continues heading up into Shoreditch where we continue to explore the latest in the ever changing display of street art and graffiti. Luckily as the guide is totally immersed in the culture and specialises only in this subject, not only does the guide know where to find the art but will be able to identify, interpret and explain the street art, even brand new stuff that might only be minutes or hours old

Dave is fantastic — friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about street art, bringing the murals to life with fascinating stories about the artists, techniques, and meaning behind the work. A brilliant way to explore London, especially if you enjoy art, culture, photography, or discovering something a little different. Highly recommended.
I highly recommend the Shoreditch Street Art Tour! Our tour guide Dave was a wealth of information regarding street art and graffiti culture which he is clearly passionate about. You will see diverse artists works such as Banksy, the Brick Lane couple, Zabou’s Audrey Hepburn, graffiti writer Helch, Shepard Fairey and some amazing paste up art. I learned so much about street art from this enjoyable, engaging, and worthwhile tour!
Dave was very hospitable and knowledgeable! He made it a wonderful, educational experience for us. Thank you🙏🏼
Absolutely worth every penny! Dave was an outstanding guide whose knowledge of the area, street art, and the artists themselves was truly exceptional. What made the tour even more special was his first-hand experience and personal connections with some of the artists, giving us fascinating insights that you simply wouldn't get elsewhere. By the end of the tour, I felt thoroughly educated and had gained a whole new appreciation for street art and the stories behind it. It was amazing to see some of my favourite artists' work up close, including Banksy, Shepard Fairey, and Invader, while learning about the history, techniques, and messages behind the pieces. Dave's passion and enthusiasm were infectious, and he brought the artwork and the local area to life. Whether you're a dedicated street art fan or simply curious about art and culture, this tour is an absolute must-do. I couldn't recommend it highly enough! 🎨👏😊 Provide your feedback on BizChat
This was an absolutely amazing tour! It was just over three hours, but it was very well paced. Dave was completely captivating, and we covered areas that seemed to be well off the beaten tourist track. The level of Dave’s knowledge and enthusiasm on the subject was incredible, and his generosity with information and resources—both during and after the tour—was astounding. He notices the tiniest details and spots artwork where many others would not. As he explained on the tour, street art is constantly changing, so new pieces are always popping up, and Dave’s excitement about that is genuinely palpable. I learned so much, would gladly do it again, and will continue researching this art style. Dave is a genuine treasure sharing his knowledge of a much-misunderstood genre. Thank you so much!
The recommendation I want to give on Trip Advisor is that this is THE trip to go on. Whatever your level of interest, this tour will be amazing. I've wandered around Brick Lane and Shoreditch many, many times bought a few pieces from galleries and thought I knew a bit, I now know I've barely scratched the surface of this fascinating interconnected world. Highlight for me was understanding how these artists collaborate and regenerate almost continuously. Best tip I got and want to pass on is to look down AND up whenever you are in a space where street art lurks. Our guide, David was amazingly knowledgeable and happy to share his insights and personal connections with some of the superheros in this world. Amazing, I'm going to book a private tour so I can learn more.
What an extraordinary experience being led around the streets of London by Dave and being introduced to the most amazing street art. Dave's enthusiasm is highly infectious, he is passionate and incredibly knowledgeable and clearly delights in sharing his passion with the group. The tour was entertaining, informative, and a peek into another world beyond the usual tourist sights. We were also lucky enough to meet three of the street artists en route. Highly recommended for all ages, and if you think a street art tour is not for you, think again, and book it!
Dave was great - very connected and informed with the street art community. We saw things that were new to him from this week, plus some of his old favorites. He spoke to the various media and styles that are always evolving with the dynamic street art scene - and he showed us all those different things too. Could not recommend this tour any more highly. In fact, we’d go again since the streets are always changing.
Fascinating tour, with lots of great street art and tons of interesting information, historical context, and insights into London street art culture from the perfectly knowledgeable tour guide. Got to meet some of the artists along the way. Ends with a couple of Banksys! Couldn't ask for a better tour!
A fabulous walk showcasing some amazing artwork and gaining an understanding into the work of the artists, the way they interconnect and collaborate. Amazingly we also met some of the artists themselves and heard more about how they work. Dave was so knowledgeable and answered questions on a whole range of artists, their relevance to contemporary culture and quirks of the industry. Thank you!
My 17 year old son and I did the tour with Dave and thoroughly enjoyed it. It opened my eyes to a whole world of art that I had no knowledge of at all and he shared his knowledge with passion and enthusiasm. It was fascinating to learn about some of the street artists, their techniques and their incredible work and I will forever view street art in an entirely different light. Thank you Dave!
I had the pleasure of taking the Shoreditch Street Art Tour with Dave as the guide. We started near Spitalfields Market and ended at the Art Hotel. The distance was comfortable enough to walk in the time allotted and allowed for viewing plenty of art in the process. Dave’s knowledge and excitement in regards to the street art he shows us along the tour are palpable, and you get so much insider info from his years of being in the scene and establishing connections with the artists that you truly feel like you’re getting a unique experience that not many guides could provide. Even after 10 years of living in London it gave me the opportunity to explore the city under a new light and I will keenly be recommending the tour to all my friends who visit, just amazing!
We had an amazing tour with Dave. The tour exceeded our expectations. We did the tour as a group of four that included my parents who are in their 70s. Even though it was walking tour, there were opportunities to sit on benches or to go at our own pace, so it’s definitely accessible to all ages. Dave had extensive knowledge and background on street art and graffiti and knows many of the artists personally which allowed us an inside look at the artists. This is such a unique experience and off the beaten path. It offers a different view of artwork! Highly recommend!!
The Shoreditch tour was truly fascinating and highly engaging. The artists are deeply committed to political and environmental causes, and their work powerfully addresses pressing global issues. They not only denounce war and injustice but also confront a wide range of social taboos with remarkable honesty and courage. It is an eye-opening experience to observe how art can be used as a medium for activism and reflection, making the tour both thought-provoking and deeply compelling.
I bring a group of Year 12 Geography students to do this tour every year. We do it to look at representation of place through street art as part of the Changing Places topic and our focus is Shoreditch and Brick Lane. The tour is fantastic. We have had 3 different guides over the years, all unique and all equally good. Their knowledge of the street art is phenomenal and they all seem as enthused as we are. Highly recommended, which is why we just keep coming back!
Our tour giude, Dave Stewart, was very well prepared and knew a lot of interesting stories and background information about the artists he presented. It was a wonderful walk and experience, also for my teenage daughter!
We had a blast! With Dave as our tourguide we saw and heared things about street art we would absolutely not see or find for ourselves. Very much tailored to our group. Flexible in time and route. And so so many fabulous art pieces and artists. From piece more than 20 years old, to pieces sprayed only days before. And all with ‘background stories’ and personal anekdotes of a street art fan. It was amazing. Thanks Dave!
Dave, our guide, gave the group excellent understanding of each part of art. I am truly surprised, delighted, at the amount of street art in and around e Shoreditch.
What an amazing tour! I would highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a morning filled with the vibrancy and fascinating history of street art in London! I had no idea! It was 3 hours of viewing the amazing art from David… an excellent guide and true expert knowing many of the artists personally. I loved the fact that our tour was limited to just a few of us… I think there were around 10-12 in our group, and David spent the time to get to know us personally and answer all of our questions. Definitely a must do! Don’t forget to wear comfy shoes and be prepared for standing of course.
Excellent street art tour. Dave was so very knowledgeable and gave great details of everything we saw. I very much appreciated his historical insights, expertise, and sense of humor. Well worth your time. Great tour, greater guy!
Dave is fully immersed in the graffiti art in this local region. From Banksy to DFace to Stick, you will learn the street’s celebrities and its supportive yet competitive grit, the constantly evolving layer upon layer of voices through artistic expression; everything from whimsy to political protest, these voices encourage you to find your inner voice, too. Dave is a vibrant soul who shares stories, street lore, and the evolution of this art form. Excellent tour.
A simply brilliant Street Art Tour - Dave has clearly been immersed in this scene for years but is so relatable in how he talks about the art - I saw the streets differently after the tour
The leader is more than a guide; he is an art historian. Everything is says was well documented. He is a friendly and receptive.
Dave is a knowledgable tour guide. Professional; solid answers to all questions. The answers to questions are well documented. I had a pleasant time listening to him. He is a professional art historian
What an amazing tour! Dave is so knowledgeable and passionate about the art in Shoreditch, and it was great to learn more about the artists, their sensibilities, how they have evolved over time etc. I have been to London several times for work, but have never been to this area. My 19-year-old son loves street art (and is an arts major in college) and I'm glad we had Dave to guide us through this vibrant and eclectic area of London. I highly recommend this tour!
Excellent tour. Dave was so knowledgeable and really brought it all to life. Very generous with his time too (our tour lasted almost 4 hours) and the follow up information was amazing. I thoroughly recommend this tour.
There are very many other tours labelled as London Street Art. Most are just a led walk along sone good streets to see the art. Dave is a world, or galaxy, apart. He's the original and by far, far, the best. Choose and other your and waste your time and money. Dave isn't wannabe actor or gap year student like many other guides. His knowledge is unparalleled. He knows the artists, the streets and is excellent at managing the group.
Dave was great. His knowledge of the art - the styles, techniques, the artists, how they work and what they are looking to achieve is so impressive. His appreciation and enthusism for the subject comes across throughout. Impressive too how he engaged with several children on the walk as well as a pensioner like me! The walk has opened my eyes to what is going on on the walls of East London which I have walked past so often.
had a great 4 hours learning about graffiti artists and there processes definitely made me think differently about what you see out and about on walls and bridges etc etc
We LOVED our tour with Dave! Two college age boys are not always easy to plan for on, but this was a highlight! Learning about different artwork that we then saw throughout our week in London made me so happy that we planned it at the beginning of our travels! I have a new appreciation for the level of work that goes in to so many of these artists work, and we all learned a lot about the distinctions between graffiti and street art, and how to recognize each. There is so much more than meets the eye, and I am grateful that we were let into this secret world for a little while!
It was great. Dave is an amazing guide. So many informations and places you would never find alone.
What a great tour! Dave knows and understands the Street Art scene so deeply. His insights reveal much about both the art, and the unconventional artists who create this living gallery. The three-hour tour seemed to fly by, with so many personal perspectives. I left with lots of photos, and a determination to look up and around me with much richer appreciation in future.
Extraordinary Street Art tour with a very knowledgeable and passionate guide, Dave. A tour full of anecdotes, "political" subtitles to the pieces of art that you can see , plenty of stories, including personal, on the artists and their work. In short, a visit not to miss in a very interesting area of London, including if you enjoy walking in the streets full of industrial urban history and architecture!
Amazing tour, did it 11 years ago and it was so good to go back and see all the new art. Dave is a real expert and so passionate- I loved it and learned so much about the artists and stories around their work. I can only recommend…I will be back for sure . Thank you Dave.
It was a surprise around every corner and a great way to spend the day exploring Shoreditch's colorful street art. Thanks Dave for sharing our passion and knowledge of London's street art. I would highly recommend this tour!
Dave gave us a truly wonderful street art experience. From the outset, he showed us how closely this art form is connected to the neighbourhood, as well as to national and global developments, and explained the difference between what is officially allowed and what is simply tolerated. He showed us countless works and explained not only how and why they were made – including the role of activism as an essential part of this art form – but also who made them and which artists work together. He helped us see how the way a piece is attached to a wall can respond to the work already there, how artists respect one another, and how they inspire and challenge each other. He also showed us how street art evolves over time, explained the difference between street art and graffiti, and introduced us to the materials and techniques involved, such as stickers, stencils and spray paint. To round off the experience, Dave sent links to the artists so that you can continue to follow their new work and look forward to pieces yet to be made.
This tour is a must if you love London, and street art!
Fascinating tour with our very knowledgeable guide, Dave. His in-depth knowledge and appreciation of the art and artists opened up this world for us. Shoreditch features beautiful murals and street art that my formerly ignorant self would have easily walked by in the past. Thank you for opening our eyes during this very enjoyable tour!
Wonderful tour- Dave knows everything you’d want to know about street art and enthusiastically shares his knowledge. Highly recommend!
He made us look where no one looks, the best art is always hidden in plain sight. Brilliant stories and interesting facts about artists and their art. Highly recommended
Not business but schoo trip- I took my group of 40 French students on the street art tour with Dave and John and it was just brilliant, in spite of the poor weather. All the students enjoyed the tour, the anecdotes and even randomly meeting with a street artist. I highly recommend Dave and his team for teenagers!
I recently joined a street art tour in London, and it was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Our guide, Dave, was incredibly knowledgeable and deeply connected to the local art scene — passionate not just about the art itself, but about the stories behind each piece: the artists, the political messages, and the history of the scene. You really get a sense that street art is far more than just paint on walls; it's a living, evolving form of storytelling. The tour struck the perfect balance between being informative and fun. Whether you're an art lover, a photography enthusiast, or simply curious about the city's creative side, there's something here for everyone. You could tell Dave genuinely loves what he does, and that enthusiasm is completely contagious. Highly recommend to anyone visiting London who wants to explore a different, vibrant side of the city — don't miss it!
That was just a very raining day but the tour stay still amazing with Dave's explanations. Thank you very much Dave
What a brilliant way to spend 2 hours on a Saturday morning, but in Dave’s company, being exposed to the variety of street art in Shoreditch. The historical context and personal connections he has in this space made it so stimulating. We will not be walking past any street art without trying to imagine what Dave would say about it!
This was absolutely incredible! Dave is super knowledgeable about street art and shared so much context and information on the art and artists we've seen. It was a perfectly tailored experience and I'd recommend it to anyone.
This tour is a fantastic experience, the guide Dave is a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic person. He took us to the fascinating world of the incredible talented and creative street artists. I have learned a lot, it was very interesting. Definitely worth doing this tour!
What an information-packed, thorough dive into the variety of street art in Shoreditch and adjacent areas! Dave, our guide, has chronicled the street art scene in London for the last two + decades. His deep knowledge comes from close observation and from friendships with many active artists. The tour allowed us to look more closely at many works and to understand different types of street art and the contexts in which they were created. Dave also supplemented the tour with an extensive email containing links to information regarding the works we visited, the artists who created them, and more. We’ve taken many street art tours in our travels and this was at the very top. A must for street art enthusiasts, scholars of street art. and those interested in learning more about this contemporary art form.
This tour is for anyone who is interested in contemporary art and photography . It would be so wrong to think of it as Graffiti . There are many distinguished and talentef artists here who have their work displayed in the open gallery that is the walls and streets if Shoreditch . Dave’s knowledge and delivery makes it very special and is a tour not to be missed .
We really enjoyed the street art tour guided by John aka Subdude - great to be guided by an actual street artist. Lots to see and despite being a born and bred Londoner I still learned a lot. Would highly recommend.
