Shakespeare London Walking Tour

This tour was excellent! Declan (the friendly and welcoming tour guide) has spent years researching Shakespeare and was extremely knowledgeable, sharing lots of off-the-beaten-track venues from 'Shakespeare's London'. He is also a trained actor and wove several famous Shakespeare speeches into the tour. If you enjoy Shakespeare, the theatre, and exploring the hidden history of London, then you will love this tour!

What a pity I missed the tour because I got on a wrong bus which took me to an opposite direction. The tour guide is very patient to communicate with me and would give me a second chance to take the tour. Since this is a once a week tour, I don't have time left, I'm sure those who love literature would enjoy this trip.

Declan is a walking Shakespeare miracle: his knowledge is so deep it feels as if he could have taken us on a day’s tour, not just a couple of hours. And the hidden Shakespeare-connected places he took us to even we Londoners had never seen before. And - from time to time - he quoted from one of the plays. The speech he did at the end of the tour was so poignantly delivered he had me in tears. Brilliant, professional and funny. Thank you Declan.

What a special tour this was, getting to peek into many of the places Shakespeare lived and frequented, that we never would have found on our own! A highly interesting tour with a guide who’s done all the research! You’ll visit sights you’d otherwise never connect with Shakespeare and get to know a fair share of history behind the old city of London. The guide, being a former actor, knows how to entertain and kept our attention at a peak. He knows his Shakespeare and includes little snippets of plays and poems on the tour.

A really fascinating and entertaining tour of Shakespeare 's London with a very knowledgeable guide. Great little snippets of information along the way. I am a Londoner and today, with Declan, I discovered wonderful buildings and back parts of London that I didn't know existed. The time flew by, I would thoroughly recommend this tour.

This is not your ordinary "let's walk by the Globe theatre wasn't the South of London weird" tour. Instead, Declan, an expert in his own right, was a remarkable guide, focusing on Shakespeare's life as a social climber inserting himself in the society of the City of London on the north of the Thames. Declan lead us through the quiet back alleys that the City is famous for, pointing out locations important to Shakespeare's life and monuments to the greatness of the Bard. Declan does not hesitate to give his opinion on controversies close to Shakespeare and adds more fuel to the fires of history with his own take on a few issues. Fun and informative, all you could ask from such a tour.

This is an excellent tour. Declan was a great tour guide, so informative, original and interesting. I have been on tour guides before, which has been disappointing, but I am glad to say this wasn't one of them. His recitation of Shakespearean sonnets was beautiful. Great tour and well worth it. Very entertaining and interesting. Highly recommend. I wasn’t really interested in Shakespeare but I had a great time and learned a lot.

We spent our engagement in Stratford-upon-Avon, so family members knew this would be a great gift for us. What we didn’t realise is just how much hidden Shakespeare history there is in London. Declan has clearly spent a lot of time researching the subject, and as we had a small group it was easy for him to answer our questions. We liked his easy going attitude and thorough knowledge that we stayed for his Serial Killers walk the same evening! I can highly recommend this tour

Declan was our tour guide today and was brilliant. There were only 4 of us so the experience was intimate and we had no problem hearing what was said or keeping up although we did not do very well with the questions! My tour guide DcLean was very knowledgeable and passionate about Shakespeare. He took us to a lot of secret spots that tours won't normally take you to. I learned a lot more about Shakespeare that people tend to not really talk about. If you like his tour, he also recommended his book called Bloody London.

It od a very interesting walk if you want to learn something new about Shakespeare and see places where he one lived or been to. Highly recommend to everyone

We had a private tour due to lack tourists in London. Nevertheless the guide walked us through Shakespeare’s live with great enthousiasm. We have learend a lot !!!
