Itinerary
Hop on a bicycle and take a guided small-group bike tour along the River Thames, right through the heart of central London. During its 2,000 years of existence, London has faced plagues, great fires, wars and more that have continuously shaped its cityscape -- your local expert guide will actively lead you through this history as you sightsee, making your trip an educational and enjoyable experience. During this bike tour, cycle on both banks of the Thames, admiring London's top attractions and stopping along the way for photo opportunities. Part of your itinerary will be determined by your guide on the day, depending on the group's overall preferences. Your sightseeing will include Big Ben, the London Eye, St Paul's Cathedral, Borough Market, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, the Tower of London and the Tower Bridge
Elizabeth Tower is the name of the famous clock tower which stands at the Houses of Parliament. The name Big Ben is often used to describe the tower, the clock and the bell but the name was first given to the Great Bell.
Elegantly rotating over the River Thames, it's the world’s tallest cantilevered observation wheel.
St. Paul's has been the site of many historic state occasions; including Sir Winston Churchill's state funeral and the Royal Wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer.
One of London's most famous landmarks, the historic Tower houses the Crown Jewels, the prison cell of Sir Walter Raleigh, known as the Bloody Tower, and the Chapel of St. John and the Royal Armories.
Founded by American actor and director Sam Wanamaker, Shakespeare's Globe explores Shakespeare's work and the playhouse for which he wrote
Stop for a break at the incredible Borough Market (lunch not included) one of London's largest food markets, famous for its wide range of food from all over the world.
Fortified, you will continue your tour, crossing one of London's most popular bridges, the Tower Bridge. From Tower Bridge you will pedal on to the area known as the City of London - the city’s financial center - where you’ll see some of the modern glass skyscrapers that have appeared more recently on the famous London skyline.
You’ll then head on past the Monument to the Great Fire.
See Leadenhall Market - one of London’s hidden 14th-century gems – and hear how it featured in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
Make your way past an old medieval church that was bombed during the World War II blitz before cycling over London Bridge and back to Southwark - where your tour ends. Along the way, you'll also get a beer tasting included an authentic London pub!

Fun way to see London! There were 9 in our group and our guides were Noel and Hugo. We rode on roads as well as bike paths and some pedestrian areas- fun part was riding across the Tower Bridge. Felt completely safe the whole time. Noel and Hugo were sure to keep the group together and we were never separated by stoplight cycles. Fun facts were shared, there was time to explore the Borough Market and get a snack. I would definitely recommend this bike tour!
Dan was a fantastic guide through the streets of London. His hx knowledge was shared and provided great context. Would love to do another tour with him in future
This tour was a fun experience with Dan and Ernie. Dan is a great storyteller and he was flexible by showing the best points of interest and giving time to take photos. I must say that going on a rainy day helped bc I was the only one who came along. Don’t let rain change your plans, it’s part of the adventure. Got lucky by the others not showing upand I got myself a private tour with the best tour guide!!!
What a fun tour. Jamie was a wealth of knowledge, took his time with us so we didn’t have to rush and kept us safe. We lucked out and had a private tour because no one else showed up. Highly recommend this as a great way to see the sites and then know what you want to take more time to do.
Very nice and interesting visit of London with Josh ! We were 4 with 2 teenagers and did appreciate the tour very much ! We recommend!
Great sites and very knowledgeable guide, excellent food market for a wandering lunch. Very hot day which was a bit of a negative but he found shade whenever possible
Very knowledgeable guide and fantastic photo opportunities. With the heat, be sure to bring lots of water.
Excellent guide Noel. We had a tricky time finding the meeting point but we phoned and received excellent help
Great trip. Noel, our guide, was fantastic. Full of facts, very helpful and patient and a great sense of humour. The sun was out which was a big bonus. Would definitely recommend. We were mainly off road or on cycle paths so felt very safe.
My hubby and I enjoyed riding with our guide Mat. He was easy going, friendly and knowledgeable. We learnt interesting history of Roman Era London while being very immersed as we rode through the city. We had time to enjoy a short time in Borough market too.
A fun experience and outside of the typical tour but fun and entertaining! Worth it to see sites outside of the typical main attractions
What an amazing trip! A fun way to see around the river and find some neat places to visit later in the week. Our tour guide, Josh, did an outstanding job! We’ve done Fat Tire tours in Paris and Munich so we were excited to add another to our list of adventures, and we were not disappointed! 100% recommend!
This was our first activity in London and we loved it! A nice introduction to the city. Our guide, Charlie, did a great job. We covered a lot of ground and he covered a lot of the city's history. It was obvious he was a history buff and his enthusiasm made the tour interesting and fun. It was a great activity for the family - both of our kids (17 and 12) really enjoyed it, especially riding across the Tower Bridge into the heart of the financial district. Charlie did a good job making sure everyone was safe. Stopping at Borough Market for lunch was the best. Highly recommend this tour. Thanks, Charlie!
Fat Tire tours is amazing. We had a wonderful time with Emily, our guide. I want to do these tours everywhere now!
The scenery was nice, the guide could have been better. I've done other tours similar to this one in another cities that were much better.
Wow, our tour guide Abby was absolutely amazing! Her energy was infectious, and she shared so much information without overwhelming us. The bike ride was relaxing, although we had to walk the bikes in some busy areas. Abby made sure we stopped at all the major attractions and even gave us time to take photos and ask questions. The length of the tour was perfect, allowing us to see everything and still have time for a quick lunch. This was my second time on this tour, and Abby was definitely my favorite guide!
Fat Tire offers the BEST tours! Tour guide Noel led our family of 4 on a tour of London’s sights. Noel was kind, shared interesting history, and made for a great experience for the 3 adults and 6 year old in our group. We’ve booked with Fat Tire in a number of different cities, and they are consistently fabulous!
Our tour guide, Lincoln, was amazing, very knowledgeable and helpful for other sites to see. Would go again!
Great tour, very happy with the attentive and well researched guide we were supplied. A thoroughly relaxed ride and would highly recommend to anyone doubting ( I’m 61 with a recent knee replacement and found it very easy )
This was my 12th bicycle tour in a different country, as I believe the best way to see a new place is atop a bicycle. Fat Tire delivered for London (England) with an excellent tour along the Thames River, with Andrew, our guide, full of knowledge, and leading at a leisurely pace. Sights at seemingly every turn, as well as a break for lunch (I went with the local delicacy: Tacos) the tour was never too easy, too fast, or too much. Rather, it was perfect!
We had a Fat Tire tour in Munich that was spectacular! This was on the other end of that which is weird because it's the same company. We met at the tube station and then had to walk about 10 minutes to get to the bikes. These bikes have seen better days. The bikes were uncomfortable. A one size fits all type of bike. The bikes weren't adjusted for each person which would have made it a little more comfortable. Trying to ride these bikes with all the people, vehicles, other cyclists, and road conditions made this a rough ride. Our guide was good with history but when asking questions not about history he seemed uninterested. I am surprised to see two totally different Fat Tire tours.
Crossing Tower Bridge on bicycle. We had a good and interresting guide. Visited places where we had never been before.
Riding through the tunnels and seeing the London life in the alleys and food courts. Hearing about the history of the area.
Wrong departure address given by trip advisor, had to navigate calling tour company and locate correct location, very disconcerting. Already sent this but may have been mislaid in your system.
This was our 3rd Fat Tire tour ( one in Berlin) We picked the Thames tour having done the Royal one previously. We were met by Andy( Andrew?) and the 3 others in our group. After collecting the bikes we got on the road. London is so nice to cycle around now and we felt very comfortable with Andy. He is very enthusiastic about the history and kept us informed of all the interesting things we passed en route. We stopped for lunch at Borough market( could have stayed all day and ate at every stall!) The cycling is nicely paced and the bikes very comfy so wished the tour was longer. Thoroughly recommend these tours. Will definitely do another.
We booked on the River Thames bike tour and were fortunate enough to get Andrew as our tour guide with just me and my wife. Nice leisurely pace with usual landmark photograph taken along the way. Andrew struck a great balance of giving some funny stories and interesting highlights without bombarding us with a history lesson. Thanks for a great tour, would highly recommend!
We did the Saturday morning River Thames bike tour and it was such a pleasure. My husband and I ended up being the only people on the tour as the other two dropped out however, by no means is this a “couples” thing. It’s truly perfect for people of all ages, as long as they can ride a bike. We saw SO many sights and our tour guide, Daniel was a joy! He was so personable and had an immense amount of knowledge to share. There were so many highlights but one of my favorites was a lunch stop at Borough Market (a place I had wanted to visit)! He gave us some history and recommendations of where to go along with how to maneuver everything. We knew we were always in good hands! If you’re on the fence, absolutely do it! If you’re booking it already, smart life choice!
Excellent 3hr tour with many worthwhile stops. Stop for lunch, stop for beer!...highlights include Borough Market and the Lloyd's of London building finished off with some beer tasting inside Leadenhall Market. Just the right amount of history/storytelling that kept it interesting and moving along...thank you Daniel! (would recommend for slightly experienced riders as there is some busy street cycling to navigate...all done in the safe hands of your guide!)
This is a great tour if you have already seen the sites around Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square and Westminster. This covers the other side of the Thames, starting with the London Eye and ending with Leadenhall Market for a pint. Andrew was spectacular in his knowledge and enthusiasm. The type of touring bikes used somehow provide a very smooth and effortless ride. Stopping at the incredible Borough Market for lunch was amazing. Enjoyed every minute of it,
The whole family enjoyed riding around Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, Buckminster Palace all the way to Piccadilly and Trafalgar Square. We had a great guide, very very British and learned a lot from him.
I really enjoyed the Thames River bike tour. It was historic and I had a few good laughs. I was grateful that I dressed for the unexpected London weather. It was a sunny day so I was glad I had my sunglasses with me. Make sure you always have a raincoat in case it rains. The best part of the tour was seeing the markets ( There are 2 markets on the tour). I also enjoyed seeing the real London Bridge and learning about the history. Everyone on the tour was friendly and our tour guide was really good at explaining the history of each location. He was not so friendly but I assume it could be a British thing. I was the only person on this tour that wasn't from England or Europe to my surprise. I really enjoy the tour, however, the tour guide was unfriendly and didn't try to get to know each person. He seemed very standoffish. Everyone on the tour was nice enough to talk to each other.
This was a very poor experience. There was little biking, the equipment was poor and most of all the leader Matthew was terrible. We rode in crowds with hoards of people, not wise. The leader was in the front of the “small group” that had too many people for him to see. Terrible experience. We do not recommend unless you are looking for a stressful and not very athletic biking experience with an ineffective leader.
We absolutely loved every minute of this tour. It's truly a do not miss. You learn so much about London's history that you don't know, and see the city in such a unique way. Our guide Nick was so knowledgable, and also kept us safe in the crazy London traffic! Touring on a bike gave us such a unique perspective and riding along the Thames was so beautiful! Our favorite parts were seeing the Tower Bridge and the stop for a snack at the Borough Market. We cannot wait to do this in other cities now. Definitely book this as part of your experience in London.
We wanted to take a tour of London without sitting on a bus and found the Small Group Bike Tour to be just perfect! The group of 16 was split into two groups of 8 which made it easy to navigate and stay together through the narrow London streets. Joe, our guide was very polite and knowledgeable of all the points we visited. The ride was very pleasant and we enjoyed stopping to discuss architecture, historical significance of certain areas and buildings and the fascinating history of London. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who would prefer covering a lot of historical facts while sightseeing some iconic and off the beaten path sights in London.
Wow, this covers a lot of ground! Nick was a good-natured guide and kept our group together offering interesting context and history all along the way. A very enjoyable morning with so much to see in London.
We went on our first Fat Tire tour in Paris three years ago & loved it. We did the Thames River tour this time. It was very informative & a good way to see a lot of the city. My only suggestion would be to make it a bit shorter. 5 hours was a little too long. 3-4 hours would be ideal. P.S. our tour guide Andrew was great!
Nick ,our tour guide was very informative and had lots of fun facts to share. This is a lovely activity to do with friends and family and gives lots of ideas to other things to do in the city.
We were with a group of 25 people so I was looking for a unique way to explore London. This was a great way to see London's City Center and unique hotspots. The bikes were very comfortabel and nobody ever felt tired from the Tour. We would recommend Fat Tire Tours to everybody who wants to see London in a different way but also wants to see the touristic spots. The guides were valuable and told us some nice stories we would never read in history books.

What a way to see London. Our guide was a local Londoner which showed how much he enjoys his city.

We really enjoyed this trip with Jonathan. Went to a lot of interesting places. Very easy on the bike. Of course we had great weather. Jonathan was very informative and entertaining, he made history very interesting. Well worth it and great value for money.

The tour itself was very good. The stops were unusual and the guide, Nick, informative. But, there is no easy way to get around London on a bicycle with all the foot traffic A lot of the ride was spent weaving around walkers in tight spaces.

This bike tour was fantastic. Our guide was wonderful, shared great information and history, and he always offered to take family photos of anyone! Definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to get a great overview of London. You should consider doing it at the beginning of your vacation so you know where to spend your time.

Great, great ride and overview of London. Our guide...I beleive Beth was her name...was superb. Great overview of the trip including sites, traffic observance...riding on the LEFt side of the road : cause it's London, ensuring our young riders were close to her for safety. She was just great and made this crowded city very easy to navigate for us. Excellent history lesson, lots of river stops, and we rode ACROSS Tower bridge. Amazing for sure. And a yummy lunch stop in Borough market. highly recommend.

Loved it! Great guide Matt(I think) actor from Australia. Felt safe and was great to see London at twilight.

Our guide, Thomas, was delightful. I don't call 11 riders a small group. We found ourselves riding on walkways crowded with many pedestrians, which got very stressful. This distracted from seeing the "sights" between stops.

I would highly recommend any of the bike tours offered including this one. It certainly was an experience getting up close and personal with the London traffic especially the red buses!
The cobblestones made their presence felt the next day!
Our guide was knowledgeable and fun, the Irish accent was divine!
We had a range of experience in our group and everyone coped and made it back to base with lots of laughs.
It's a great way to see a lot of areas that maybe you would not normally get to.
The only down side was that there wasn't the Thames clipper ride as advertised, a bit deceiving as we especially picked this tour to take advantage of the different transports.

Fantastic tour! SO worth the time and money. Our guide was both knowledgeable and personable, and the places we visited were accompanied by neat historical tidbits and anecdotes. I loved the lunch break at the market, and being able to bike across both the Tower Bridge as well as London Bridge. It's a great way to preview places you'd like to spend more time at during your holiday.

Tour was great. Thomas our guide, was knowledgable and interesting to listen to. Saw lots of little places you would never have found on your own. Highly recommend.

Being a road bike rider I wasn't too sure about the fat tire bikes at first. But they turned out to be very comfortable when you are riding at a slow pace. I felt very safe with our knowledgable guide.
