Itinerary
An architectural masterpiece, Westminster Abbey presents a unique pageant of British history – the shrine of St Edward the confessor, the tombs of kings and queens, and countless memorials to the famous and the great. Our guide will help bring to life this remarkable building where 40 English and British coronations have taken place since 1066. You will hear about the most recent coronation of Charles III that took place on the 6th May 2023, the marriage of William and Kate – the Prince and Princess of Wales, and also stop briefly to pay our respect and celebrate the life of the late Queen Elizabeth II whose state funeral also took place at the Abbey.
Our first experience of Westminster Abbey, one of the jewels in London’s crown and a must see for any visitor, is in the 14th century medieval under croft. Originally used by the Benedictine monks to store food and drink - the Cellarium is now a unique restaurant, and we pause here for refreshments. (Refreshments included in the price)

Marie-Ann was an expert on the history of Westminster Abbey! I've learned so much from her and truly admired her knowledge on European royal history and the wisdom of cross-cultural communication. Many thanks!
My s-i-l wears hearing aids so I purposely picked a small group tour with a professional guide. Headsets were provided which my s-i-l said actually worked with her hearing aids (most audio tours do not). Our guide noted, more than once, that she was not allowed to accompany us into the side areas (we could still hear our guide). Our guide was excellent, knowledgeable and she came prepared with visuals, but the tour felt rushed, possibly because of the volume of visitors inside the Abbey. Visitors using the Abbey pre-recorded audio appeared to be entering areas that were not part of our tour. This was my 3rd visit to Westminster, the 2nd being in 2014 (pre-recorded audio tour) and the first prior to that. I feel as though those tours covered more but as noted above the professional guides are restricted.
Live commentary is great, especially when one wants to ask questions or needs something repeated. This was my 3rd trip to Westminster Abbey and I feel as though the guide covered less than the recorded audio (2nd trip in 2014). However this is not the fault of the guide as they are apparently restricted. Our guide was excellent; she came prepared with visuals.
Our guide showed us interesting graves and told good stories.
It was an excellent tour which was very detailed, but I felt rushed. I would pass up the tea for more time in the Abbey.
Zozo was very personal & extremely knowledgeable! Highly recommend!!
Our guide Peter was outstanding! Incredibly knowledgeable, with a great sense of humor. He really brought to life the Abby, we all learned a lot! It is a bit pricey, but with only 7 in our party the personalized touch was worth it. Just make sure to get the meet up location correct, we went in through the main entrance and the volunteers did not originally guide us correctly.
Frank was a terrific and knowledgeable guide.
The tour guide was amazing!! We have been 3 other times but doing this tour we learned a lot more! I’d add that going first thing in the morning is so important to be there before it gets too crowded.
The tour was very informative and interesting. Our guide was humorous, knowledgeable and took us around the entire abbey and pointed out several items that I would not have noticed if I went on my own.
Reall excellent tour, knowledgeable, funny, great pace, really enjoyed it
Superb tour. Frank was fantastic - knowledgeable, funny, warm. First in the building!
Quite the trick to make the quips and notes sound new and fresh, Frank, our guide pulled it off with aplomb! Cheers
Frank was a great guide, super knowledgeable and gave lots of great detail and history.
This tour was superb! Our guide was top notch. I don’t know, but I suspect she must be a historian. This was a wonderful experience! The audio headsets were great: I wish other tours used them.
Had a great tour with Frank of Westminster Abbey. Frank was very knowledgeable of the history and the architecture of the Abbey. Enjoyed it so much!
There is such a crush of people at Westminster Abbey, a tour makes sense since you can avoid waiting in an endless line and are not forced to follow a pre-arranged path. As a 72 year old with arthritis, I found standing for 90 minutes difficult, so old folks be warned. Our tour guide Peter was a comedian--not to my taste, but everyone else seemed to love him.
Excellent Tour and came back for choir service in the evening.
Frank is an excellent guide. Highly recommended.
Peter was an Amazing tour guide. We loved his sense of humor and the knowledge he shared about Westminster and its history! I highly recommend this tour.
Go early! When it's shoulder to shoulder and you are trying to follow your guide as he winds thru the crowd, you miss a lot. I wish the guide had a popsicle sign to hold up. It was too easy to lose him if we didn't constantly spot him.
Our guide was exceptional! Extremely knowledgeable as well as being so capable of keeping our group together and organized. Overall an outstanding experience.
Had a fabulous guide with Anne Marie. Very knowledgeable and the priority access was helpful to skip through the church. Wouldn't recommend the 11am tour after changing of the guard (crowds were insane). The ear piece for keeping up with the guide was very helpful with the busy crowds. Would definitely recommend a guided tour over walking through self-guided.
This was worth the price having a tour. Gentleman was very good with info. Can't remember his name tho right now.
The tour allows you to go places others can not. Do the gift shop first so you have time afterwards then you have time to get to your next tour. Good tour to take.
Frank made this a really wonderful tour. He is really knowledgable, personable and has a great dry sense of humor. We were the first into Westminster Abbey and therefore saw the coronation chair without crowds. Overall, an exceptional tour, and the coffee and pastries were an added bonus.
History lessons wrapped in an immersive experience. Guide was great! There is so much to see… the Cloisters, the Sanctuary, the famous dead entombed or honoured there.
Too crowded Hard too hear/follow guide! He didn’t speak loud enough - rushed presentation. Pictures shown not well shared for benefit of all in group. Only 19 I believe?
Great tour. The guide was very knowledgeable and did a great job explaining the high points of the Abbey.
Derek was amazing. Great tour with just the right amount of information to understand history of Westminster Abbey.
The Tour guide was very knowledgeable. , friendly and happy to answer any question. Tour was full o Royal History , presented very well by the guide. Definitely recommend this tour .
Westminster Abbey is a massive & amazing place to visit. We are so grateful to have had a guided tour because it would have been overwhelming otherwise!
Zozo is an amazing tour guide. He was very informative and shared a vast history of the Abby. I would highly recommend him as a guide.
Excellent tour with Zozo! He was so knowledgeable!
Our guide Zozo was great! He provided a lot of historical knowledge and some hilarious anecdotes. Great to have his background knowledge.
Zozo was exceptional. Very informative, engaging, knowledgeable and entertaining.
Frank was our guide and was wonderful. Extremely knowledgeable and made sure we saw the main points of the Abbey. Many people had questions and he had all the answers. I would highly recommend this tour and tour guide.
This was worth the admission fee. We met for coffee/tea and croissants, the guide joined us, and we proceeded to an informative detailed tour of a number of sections of the Abbey. The guide provided interesting and at times humorous background on what we were seeing. The length of the tour was just right.
Our guide, Frank was incredible! He was so personable and the knowledge he shared guiding the tour was fascinating and insightful. Starting the tour with a nice coffee and croissant in the Cellarium Cafe was a great start. Don’t hesitate. Book this tour!
Our guide, Peter, was the best. He knew the history behind Westminster Abbey, and delivered everything we wanted to know with a great sense of humor. We had a great experience.
Lovely abbey! The tour guide was knowledgeable but not personable. No eye contact and hard to hear. Also not given alot of alone time in the abbey. Then again the abbey was JAM PACKED!
Frank provided a vivid verbal picture of the Abbey’s history and significance. His stories brought the building and the people to life so that we experienced much more than we could have ever done alone. Great experience.
Fabulous tour with a passionate guide Thank you Frank for bringing it to life for us Sooo much history, it’s quite overwhelming at times
Frank was our tour guide and he was fantastic. His knowledge, experience and sense of humor made this tour excellent. Thank you Frank!!
Really enjoyed our tour with Frank. He is humorous and extremely knowledgeable. You can tell he has a great love of and appreciation for life, history, and the arts. Will remember him always
Frank was funny and engaging. I learned a lot about Westminster Abbey during the tour.
Early access with very knowledgeable guide. The tour met expectations. The early access allowed us to view the abbey before the crowds got crazy.
Frank was amazing our guide! Very informative and helped to the history to modern day knowledge.
Excellent tour. Lots of history shared. I would recommend the service to others. The pace and clarity were outstanding.
