Great fun! Nostalgic, brought back childhood memories. My husband worked in fmcg market research so had worked on about 100 of the products we saw. We spent a happy hour and a half there.
A great way to spend a couple of hours with friends. We're all in our 60s so we could relate to so many of the items on display and it brought back so many memories. The garden was cafe was beautiful. We had intended to go to a pub after visiting the museum but we chose to stay in the garden with tea and cake and have a good natter there.
Interesting look back in time and memories stirred Really good to see how many items have lasted time
This is a lovely museum and definitely worth a visit. The volunteers/staff are very friendly and there’s also a lovely little cafe and garden on site.
Just fantastic! If you’ve not been then go! It’s a fascinating exhibition of old brands, old toys, old board games, all superbly presented. I took my time going round and thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s a highly nostalgic experience. It’s museum like no other. Wonderful!
My partner (39m) and I (51f) visited today and thoroughly enjoyed it! Lots of interesting exhibits that were well set out. A great trip down memory lane that was very resonably priced. We stayed for around an hour which was just about the right length to see everything. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were almost the only people there (we visited around 12pm) but soon filled up as we were leaving! Overall, it's a very enjoyable way to spend an hour or so and we'd highly recommend it.
An interesting visit with much to see. Plenty of times we could be heard saying ‘we had one of those’! Staff pleasant and lovely cafe.
Great little museum. Very nostalgic. Good to see there is a cafe and toikets. A well stocked souvenir shop.
A fantastic visit to the museum where we had wanted to visit for many years. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend. Lots of memories unlocked. We enjoyed a lovely snack there in the cafe too.
Fabulous and interesting place to visit with a great cafe. The exhibition is top notch and very interesting. I will have to go again as there is plenty to see and take in. Great value too.
The reality is the museum is a collection of icky old stuff. Slightly amusing here and there but overall a huge waste of time and money
This gem of a museum was such good fun. It tracks brands and marketing from the Victorian era to the present day. The cabinets are full of so many items from toys, dolls, confectionary, grocery etc etc. We happily spent 90 ins here only in the museum. It really was a trip down memory lane seeing confectionary and toys you played with as a child and items you recognised from granny etc! It is a very visual museum with not much to read about the various eras/ decades. There is limited narrative yet still informative. I'm a detail person so would love to have had more background/information. That said it did not detract. The admission ticket lets you visit throughout the year and we will return for sure. There was a TV showing adverts. I would love there to be a catalogue of adverts from 1960's to present day which you could pull up and watch. I acknowledge this would probably be too prohibitive in cost to set up though so rather simply a wishful musing Well located just around the corner from Ladbroke Grove and served well by buses back towards Oxford Circus and Victoria. Staff are really friendly. There is a pleasant garden and café on site too, plus a souvenir shop.
A gem of a museum -not just for the nostalgic but as a great social history of the UK .If you are bored with the 'tat' on sale on Portabello Road this place is the antidote. Brands and products are reflective of how we lived with many lovely surprises on the way .A wonderful garden and cafe to rest aching feet
Brilliant museum which certainly takes you for a walk down memory lane! The Time Tunnel is fantastic but other displays were being set up so we will have to return. Nice little cafe with garden too. Staff very pleasant and helpful. We will go back later in the year.
A real trip down memory lane. The museum does a brilliant job showing how everyday product packaging has evolved over the years, keeping the colours and patterns that make them instantly recognisable. Fascinating to see how brands build memories. The Gerry Anderson special exhibition was excellent — especially for those of a certain age who grew up with his shows. Tickets are valid for a full year, which is great value. Parking was awkward, but that’s central London for you. Overall, a small, slightly eccentric, not‑in‑your‑face museum with plenty of charm. Definitely wort
As the museum had a special ‘Thunderbirds’ exhibition and we had never been to this place before, we thought we would like to visit, and we are so glad we did! We first started in the main collection, peering into the glass cases, which are full of various items from toys, food stuff packaging, and general everyday household items spanning from Victorian to modern times. There is just so much to see, and the exhibits of how various brands and products have evolved from inception to modern times are extremely fascinating. We even met the founder of the museum Robert Opie, who was wandering around talking to visitors about his collections. When we were getting close to ‘museum fatigue’ (where you are reading but can no longer take it all in), we decided to visit the café for a break, and had our drink and cake in the lovely courtyard garden. Once refreshed and rested, it was back into the collection to continue our journey through the decades of consumerism. This place is certainly worth a visit if not to bring back nostalgia, to learn that consumerism has been happening since the dawn of time. The Thunderbirds exhibition was also very interesting, who knew that Gerry Anderson had so many different marionette TV shows, other than the well know Stingray, Captain Scarlett and of course Thunderbirds itself. Overall we spent approximately four hours here.
I absolutely loved this museum - full of fun and nostalgia. Good entry pricing for what you get and it’s free to access the beautiful cafe / memorial garden out the back. It wasn’t too busy when we were there - plenty of room to walk through the permanent exhibition with ease. Staff were very friendly - especially Francesca & Rebecca who went out of their way to make me feel welcome :) Nice for an afternoon out if you want something a bit different but really engaging.
A small but nice place. Offered a perspective on brand history I simply hadn’t seen before. Seeing how similar lettering was in the 1920s across products and brands, and how it evolved with images into scenes and pictures and all varieties of fonts was fascinating. I was disappointed that they really only had one primary exhibition. But no complaints with what I saw.
This is an excellent Museum that's fun and intriguing to visit. It's easy to get to. The Reception area is spacious, colouful and interesting. The staff are welcoming, friendly and efficient. They have a small, pleasant cafe if you fancy a coffee or a cup of tea. The Museum itself is a delight. You get carefully curated displays of branding and commercial artwork from before Victoria times to the present day, offering a unique perspective on how trends and technology have evolved over time. When you get to whichever section corresponds with your youth, you'll feel a great wave of nostalgia! This is a happy, fascinating and joyful place to visit and not at all expensive. Well worth a look.
This is an excellent, enjoyable, well run museum to visit. It's easy to get to. The reception area is warm, interesting and inviting and they have a nice cafe area. The staff are welcoming, helpful and efficient. The museum itself is a joy and a delight to walk around, showing the history of brands and commercial design from pre-Victorian times to the present day. It's an extensive collection, clearly presented and displayed. When you get to whichever section corresponds with your childhood and teenage years, the museum will fill you with nostalgia. A wonderful place to visit and highly recommended.
Great museum to learn abut the evolution of brands and culture. The exhibition runs chronologically - from the 1800s to the present day. The museum also has a lovely café and a beautiful, peaceful garden. An enjoyable and thought provoking way to spend a few hours. Recommended.
Best museum I have ever visited, it truly left me overawed I had the joy of attending the Gerry Anderson display and it was an awesome experience, 4K upscale films, more toys and comics than I knew existed and I have been collecting both since the 70s. I am old enough to remember the brilliant MOMI and lamented it's demise, but, the museum of brands more than fills it's huge gap. Can't recommend it enough and will return next week...
An international school group from Paris. We really enjoyed the trip to London and the Brands Museum, although compact, was really stimulating and we know we got our money's worth given we stayed 2 hours. Thank you to the whole team
This is a fun place, but can be overwhelming with so many thousands of objects to see. For youngsters it’s a history lesson and could be really helpful for some school work or finding out about grandparents lives through brands. It’s amazing how so many items have been brought together, eg the different Fairy Liquid bottles over the last 50 years. Good for a couple of hours especially going as a small group with different generations.
Lots of good memories, throughout the years. Definitely worth a visit for friends and family. Very easy to find, couple of minutes walk from the tube.
Very interesting and original, a blast from the past. Went to see the thunderbirds exhibition and found the time tunnel equally interesting, well worth a visit
If you love graphics, brand evolution, history , design and throw in a bit of nostalgia this is the place for you and a great cafe and a great garden we loved it!
A unique, very interesting and well curated exhibition of the history of brands and a fab Thunderbirds exhibition!
Visited the Museum of Brands for the first time to see the Thunderbirds/Space 1999 exhibition, having been a major fan in childhood! What a joy to behold all the stuff collected and displayed - a real going back in time journey of joy. It was really well put together and a treasure trove for Gerry Anderson fans, old and new, to see. And that wasn't all… delighted to take a tour of the rest of the museum and the phenomenal amount of artefacts on display. It really does open your eyes to our history and relation to shopping, eating, styles, fashion, TV! Almost exhausting to take it all in. A great place for the family to spend time and great value too.
Must see if only for the nostalgia. Easy walk from Ladbroke Grove tube. Packed full of branded stuff. You literally will see things that bring back memories. Great cafe too.
Reasonably priced , easy to follow clean and tidy . Good range of exhibits sadly no example of the Blue Peter Tracey Island 🏝️!
On behalf of the German YMCA in London, we just wanted to extend a heartfelt thank you on behalf of our whole group for the wonderful visit in November 2025. We had such an enjoyable and enriching time exploring the museum. A special thank you to Carol for her excellent introduction talk - it was engaging, informative, and really set the tone for a fantastic visit. Our group truly appreciated the insight and enthusiasm she brought. We’d also like to thank the café team for looking after us so well. The teas and coffees were absolutely delicious and very much appreciated by everyone.
Enjoyed our visit and found the exhibition very interesting. We’re in our late 60’s. As someone else has mentioned wouldn’t recommend it for young children and tourists born outside the UK might not find it so interesting.
Really interesting and nostalgic. 3 minutes from the station too. All staff are friendly and informative. Well worth the money. Everything is so well presented. So many things we talked about. Having a Gerry Anderson/Thunderbirds exhibition was a real plus. I have not stopped telling people about. Highly recommended. If you’re in London go for it! I will visit again.
Had an enjoyable 2 hours visiting the museum - there was a lot more to see than I expected. Well laid out and easy to view. Enjoyed the Thunderbirds/Gerry Anderson exhibition.
Went mainly for the Thunderbirds exhibit but the whole place was marvelous. Great people, good cafe, amazing exhibits.
Excellent value for money. Superb exhibitions, with thunderbirds superb. Highly recommended. Do not miss, especially thunderbirds.
This exceeded expectations - it is a beautifully curated walk through time and I was happily over-whelmed by all the items on display. As a child in the sixties there were so many memories to savour, but I also loved the earlier older exhibits as reminders of visits to the homes of great aunts and uncles back in the day. Well done to the founder Robert Opie and the team who run this fabulous museum. Cafe was good as well and garden looked lovely although it was a bit cold to sit out there on the day of my visit.
I always wanted to know how legacies came about regarding british products of everyday life. This establishment removes you away from all what is going on outside and through the doors you are taken back to a time that reminds you of events in your past. ( flashbacks) I took it all in and remembered my childhood and going though the years the items were part of my history.. I urge you to take the challenge on and visit, you will leave with a smile on your face..
One of the reasons for visiting the London area was to see this museum and we weren't disappointed! Most of the thousands of items were arranged by decade making it enjoyable to see the evolution of packaging and advertising through the ages. There are also specific brand collections such as Oxo, Persil, Maxwell House etc. The collection ranges from Victoriana to the 2010s and features every imaginable domestic item. When we went there was also an exhibition of Gerry Anderson toys etc. The overall experience was extremely enjoyable and we thoroughly recommend a visit . The staff were friendly and helpful, the cafe and shop were excellent and the atmosphere was joyful. Full marks to all involved in setting up and running.the museum.
good experience i love this place love the art they have i appricieate their hardwork the atmosphere is vert warm highly recommended
LOVED IT! Loved the mural outside, as well the back in time exhibition as well Gerry Anderson's exhibition. It was amazing to see so many brands of different designs as well Emma Giacalone textile work hidden through out the exhibitions which were amazing to see. Spend a good two hours enjoying the displays. Admission fee was reasonable. Crowd size was small. Staff were friendly and lovely. Best place for vintage stuff.
Great museum , my favourite place in London , such a wonderful place with friendly staff who are so knowledgable and so welcoming especially when they allowed me to see the 1980s section and 1970s section by going through the gate at the exit by the cafe again. Robert Opie's collections are so delightful and you're bound to see something you'll remember eating, drinking, or simply playing with as a child in this beautiful time tunnel. Made me dream to have pretended to take a game out of the cabinets and play it but thats the effect you get in that time tunnel! You wouldnt really though!
Loved every minute of it, I’m in my 60s so it was great to see many items that took me back to my childhood, maybe younger people wouldn’t enjoy it as much , but it certainly put a smile on mine and my wife’s face
I visited to see the Thunderbirds exhibition, which was very good, but I found the Time Tunnel equally interesting. Organised as it is by decade, it allows you to linger in the sections that are most evocative of your childhood. It's absolutely packed with memory-stirring objects.
What a cracking little place - went in for the suggested 2 hour tour, could have spent 2 days in there. Just so much crammed into a small space but doesn't feel cramped. Really enjoyed it. The special Gerry Anderson Memorabilia exhibition was amazing - stuff there I just didn't know ever existed.... Thoroughly enjoyed our visit - will return when we can
The Museum of Brands in London is a fascinating and unique place to visit. It takes you on a journey through history with thousands of products, packaging, and advertisements that bring back so many memories. The exhibits are well organized and truly engaging. The staff are friendly and helpful, making the experience even better. A wonderful spot for anyone interested in culture, history, or design — highly recommended!
We showed the e tickets booked the previous day through Tripadvisor. The first member of staff had to get another staff as the tickets were not recognised. The second member of staff then had to get the manager. They said that they had never had any bookings this way. After 10-15 minutes they said we could go through. I couldn’t hear what a very softly spoken lady at the reception desk said: I did say I was a little deaf. If she could speak up a little for people like me. I was very embarrassed by the ticket fiasco but after 10 minutes or so, I forgot my hot cheeks and enjoyed the exhibits. It was very empty which a bonus. There were lots of fascinating stuff: almost too much to take in.
A really enjoyable 3 hours or so - fascinating time tunnel and really nostalgic to look back on things from the 70's, 80's and 90's in particular. Decent little cafe too (good paninis) and a sweet little garden to sit in. An enjoyable day. Thank you
