London History Taxi Tours

Arriving at Heathrow Airport, seeing our name on our guide’s board was a welcome site. In addition to our airport pick up,which was extremely efficient, we booked the 4 hour tour. Liam gave us a sausage roll and some water as we started our drive through inevitable suburb traffic. Once we reached London, Liam described the history of almost every place that we saw. Getting an overview of London to start our trip was a fabulous way to start our visit. Liam was an amazing guide and I recommend this tour as the perfect way to arrive in this city!

My mother and I took a full day tour with Billy as our guide, and truly, we both agree it was some of the best money we spent on our two-week European vacation. Billy was easy to communicate with before the trip, and I let him know what we already had booked to see on other days, and what the things we felt we couldn't miss with him were, and he tailored the trip to us. We went on a very hot day (94F that day!) and he made sure my mother and I were always comfortable, especially as she has some mobility limits. He was so kind and made sure we did everything we wanted to without pushing mom's limitations, and gave me time to hop out and do the photos he knew we'd want, as well as taking photos for us. We really enjoyed spending time with Billy and getting to know him a bit as a person, he's really interesting to talk to, and really knows his history! We got as much deep history and knowledge as you could ask for, it was EXACTLY what we were hoping for when we booked London History Taxi Tours. Not only did we feel like we got a comprehensive tour of the major sights of London, but we also got a good understanding behind the context of what we were seeing. He wasn't just driving us to places, he would stop and often do a couple of minutes of history and context. I honestly couldn't recommend Billy enough. If you want to really understand London and NOT just have someone drive you somewhere and point out a building then drive to the next location, you want to do a tour with Billy.

We booked this tour with friends who were in London for the first time. Billy was fabulous. Full of knowledge, funny and extremely accommodating. Every stop was a history lesson. We saw so much and loved every minute. He also took great photos and sent them to us.

We booked this London taxi tour as a special Christmas and birthday gift for my mum, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip — every single one of us thoroughly loved it. Billy was absolutely fantastic. His knowledge of London is incredible, and he has a brilliant way of mixing the must-see landmarks with fascinating places and stories you’d never think to find on your own. It felt personal, relaxed, and really well paced — never rushed, but packed with interesting sights and insights. On top of that, Billy went above and beyond by taking some amazing photos of us along the way, letting mum sit in the cab which was such a lovely touch. We honestly can’t recommend this tour enough.

This tour was the best thing we did on our 2 week adventure in Europe! Matt was so informative, flexible and just plain fun to tour the city with! He even modified our tour to accommodate my Beatles fandom! We saw and learned about things we expected, and many we didn’t. I can’t say enough about what a great experience this was! Well worth it!

Great experience! We had a delayed flight arrival, but our guide Richard patiently waited for us at the airport. We had a comfortable ride to our hotel in a clean and spacious taxi, followed by an excellent tour of London. He kindly adjusted the locations and durations at various sights according to our preferences. It was both informative and entertaining! Money well spent!

Billie was knowledgeable, personable, and fun. He was more than happy to incorporate into the day the things we wanted to see along with what he thought (and he was right) we would enjoy. He took several pictures of us without being asked - I loved this. We felt safe, pampered, and had a blast.

Billie was great with his communication in booking the tour, picking us up from Heathrow and travelling around the sights of London. His knowledge is incredible and he shares this with an easy to understand and totally enjoyable. The cab was comfortable with much needed air con and fitted in our luggage with a game of Tetris. There were really cute touches too.

For our first full day in beautiful London, we toured with Billy's Black Cab Tour. If I had to use one word, it would be: WOW! Billy is a fantastic, friendly, personable, and knowledgeable guide who, not only knows London areas, but knows London history. He was incredible. We all learned so much from him. We saw so very much of London. It was a truly fascinating tour. He honestly made our trip as enjoyable as it was. I would say his tours are suitable for all ages! We HIGHLY recommend this tour. We spent 13 days in London and did so many things during our time there. The money we spent on having Billy pick us up at Heathrow and then spending the next few hours with him for an overview of everything to do in London and surrounding area was the BEST MONEY WE SPENT while on our trip. We were busy every day and the time we spent with Billy helped us plan our days efficiently. He was also so helpful answering questions about getting around by cab, bus or tube, even tipping. Very friendly and definitely knows his stuff. We had a great time and all the info we got from Billy only made it better. He even texted with us throughout our trip answering any questions we had or giving suggestions. We will DEFINITELY use his service again. Hire him - you won't regret it!!

Billy was amazing! His knowledge of London was a wonderful introduction to this great city. His energy, love for the city and enthusiasm really started us off on an amazing trip! Words cannot say enough how fabulous Billy and this tour was. Billy is delightful, kind, pleasant and a truly happy person! He picked us 3 sisters up at Heathrow and our day followed with a spectacular tour of London. The black cab was beautiful and we were greeted with bottles of cold water in our beautiful car. Billy took us to all the major sites and places we didn't even know of! He stopped at all the tourist spots for photos and even had us pose so he could take the right shot of us. It was a spectacular 4+ hours that we will never forget. If I can give you one piece of advice it would be to book this tour. You will not be disappointed. Billy was very accommodating. Picked us up from our hotel and dropped us back to the airport hotel. He was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain each little town in the Cotswolds. He took many photos for us and spent more time than explained in TripAdviser. If I was to travel back to London, I would definitely book Billy again for more tours to experience the history of London. Billy was very helpful as my mother had issues walking too far.

Lots of hidden gems as well as seeing all the landmarks of London. Plenty of history and really enjoyed Billy's story of London take on touring! Would recommend

Our guide, Billy, picked us up at the appointed hour and filled the next 4.5 hours with so much history and fun-filled facts. His knowledge was amazing. His taxi was immaculate and extremely comfortable. Beyond the usual facts you might expect to hear, Billy added so much detail that the history became alive. We especially appreciated that he modified the tour to fit our interests rather than giving us a pre-planned approach. His kindness in accommodating my somewhat limited walking abilities was greatly appreciated. Fun, relaxing, informative and worth every penny (or pence). An amazing service from start to finish. From the moment Martin arrived at our door until our return we were treated to a unique experience. Even though we live in London Martin provided insights into the city of London that were new to us. He was so informative about the history, however at the same time was able to communicate in a way that engaged us all (this included two teenagers!). I would totally recommend this tour for anyone wanting to see the sights of London but also learn about the history behind them. The tour is based around your requests so it is bespoke to your needs. We stopped often and learnt so much, even though we are both Londoners. We had our tour yesterday and it was a great day out. Door to door service which with kids makes it soooo much easier!! Our guide Billy was very knowledgable and threw in lots of fun and interesting facts. We made a whole day of it and stopped for lunch then carried on with the tour after. Perfect tour for anyone - young and old!

Myself, my wife and grandchildren Grace and Billie had a fantastic 3 hour tour with Tom. Some short walks and lots of photo opportunities. A very knowledgeable and likeable young chap. The girls leant lots about the history and heritage of London. A trip with Tom is highly recommended if you're new to London. Far better than the tube or an open top bus.

I could not recommend this tour enough. Billy is an excellent tour guide who not only knows his stuff, but his passion for it makes you enjoy the experience much more. As he leads you on your adventure around the capital he offers insightful knowledge at every turn, turns which i was allowed to choose as Billy offered us a customized tour to ensure we saw what we wanted as well. As we travelled around in a quintessential piece of london, we enjoyed many highlights of the beautiful city such as the hidden wonders as well as visiting many roman and medieval locations. I never realized how steeped in history the city was until Billy opened my eyes to it all. If you are considering a interactive, interesting and value for money tour of London, or simply have a few hours to spare, this is the place you want to be!

Our time with Billy in his Black Cab was AMAZING! This tour is a MUST to see the sights in London and get all the history/backstories associated with each landmark. Billy is a passionate and extremely knowledgeable guide. We learned so much and had so much fun! This isn't your typical "ride around in a car" tour either. Billy wants you to see things up close and personal, and your experience is enhanced by getting out of the cab and continuing on foot at many locations. We ultimately chose this experience over the hop-on-hop-off bus tour and we are so glad we did. The ability to set our own pace and experience London in a traditional Black Cab with a true local guide was worth every penny!

We took a tour with Martin in January 2020. He was so kind, personable, knowledgeable and fun. I definitely recommend this tour. My teenage kids also thought Martin was great, as did my 83-year-old mother. Very accommodating! Beautiful car, too!

Booked this tour through Expedia (but there are other sources). My teenage son and I were arriving in London from the USA, early. So this gave us both the transportation from the airport, and a place to sit until we got to the hotel. Billy contacted us right away, and made certain that our interests were met, but also gave us expert guidance. If you don’t already know, the London Black Cab drivers have to meet extremely rigorous standards for both driving skill but also familiarity. Billy adds expertise and enthusiasm as a professional tour guide too. Highly, highly recommend. Just, book the tour. You must.

We don't normally take guided tours, preferring to go around on our own. However, friends recommended Martin's guided tour to us and we are so glad we went! We took a wonderful 3 hour tour in Martin's Black Cab. We appreciated how much ground we were able to cover in a few short hours -- learning so much about the key London city landmarks. Martin is thoughtful, humorous, and carries an amazing knowledge of London history. He took us to sites that we didn't know about but ended up loving for their authenticity and how they gave us a lively glimpse of London's past. Martin catered the tour to our interests and impressed us by the special access he got to many places as a licensed cabbie. He even served as our photographer, snapping some great shots for us! Highly recommend the black cab experience and Martin's excellent tour-guide skills!
