Richard leads the group with knowledge and charisma. Would definitely recommend to others.

Itinerary
We start in Whitechapel Road opposite the London Hospital where Emma Elizabeth Smith the first victim of the Whitechapel Murders died after she was brutally attacked on April 3rd 1888.
We will visit Buck's Row, Whitechapel for a crime scene investigation of when, where and how Jack the Ripper committed his first murder. And learn about Polly Nichols and just how she became Jack the Ripper's first victim. And right here discover our first suspect.
Brick Lane is of course the curry capital of Great Britain but this is also the eastern boundary of where all five victims lived at the the time of the murders. Thrawl Street which ran from Brick Lane to Commercial Street where Polly Nichols stayed at Wilmott's Lodging House. And Flower and Dean Street where the third and fourth victims lived and also where Scotland Yard believe Jack the Ripper was living. And a stone's throw from Brick Lane is where Annie Chapman, the second victim, was found murdered. More CSI and a second suspect who fits both a Scotland Yard geographical profile and also a profile created by the FBI.
The magnificent example of Nicholas Hawksmoor's work. Christchurch Spitalfields which stands right opposite the famous, or should that be infamous, Ten Bells Pub. A pub that gets its name from the church that stands across the road from it. A pub that the victims drank in.
Where the American writer, Jack London, witnessed some of the appalling examples of abject poverty common in Victorian London. Old Spitalfields Market a centre of the community for centuries.
This is where the worst street in London stood. And where the second victim, Annie Chapman was living up to the night she was murdered. It's also where Mary Kelly lived and was murdered. She was a very different kind of victim and she brings with her a third convincing suspect.

Richard, is a very formative tour guide, that didn’t miss a beat in telling the mystery of Jack the Ripper 👏🏻👏🏻
We loved our Jack the Ripper tour with Richard. He's a true storyteller. He doesn't sensationalise the facts for the sake of a tour. He's researched more thoroughly than your average tour guide and helps you look deeper into understanding what actually happened, particularly by telling the truth about the women who were murdered and gifted at explaining.
I work in true crime in the US and thought I knew a lot about the case of Jack the Ripper, but I learned so much more information on this tour! It was creepy and fascinating to see the actual locations where the crimes occurred. Richard took us a different route than most other tour groups were on, so we beat the crowds and actually ended up seeing more than we would going the typical routes that the larger tours took. The smaller group setting allowed us to ask more questions and interact with Richard during the tour. His knowledge about each victim and location was impressive and he presented his theories along with some of the other popular theories about what really happened. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience and I'm excited to recommend it to others traveling through London who also enjoy true crime!
Richard's walk is well thought out, informative, and fun. He thinks through the little logistical things (like ear pieces for everyone so that he can talk while you walk instead of just at the stops or giving time to enjoy areas that evoke the same vibe as murder sites that are no longer accessible) while delivering a lot of information in an easily understandable talk. We enjoyed it so much we went home and picked up his book for even more Richard!
Richard does a great job. He's friendly and very knowledgeable. Good instructions sent on meeting place and time. The tour went very smoothly with the only exception being the blue tooth devices occasionally had interference but he made sure to repeat anything missed. Group size of 15 was good. Great details, lots of information and we ended up with plenty to think about and discuss. I'm glad we went with him.
Excellent, highly knowledgeable guide who clearly loves what he is doing and fascinated by the subject matter. We had a group of 6 ranging in age from 16 - 78 and the tour was enjoyed by all. Be aware this tour lasts just over 2 hours and involves a small amount of walking with often prolonged standing in one location as he discusses the events that took place at that particular spot. Come prepared for weather and the understanding of conditions with the tour.
My husband and I went on Richard's Jack the Ripper Tour and found it very interesting. Richard was a wonderful guide and gave a new insight into the history, victims and possible suspects. It was fascinating to see some of the actual locations where these horrific murders took place (although some buildings are no longer there).
We'd been on a Jack the Ripper tour more than 20 years ago and enjoyed it very much and had forgotten most of the details so decided we'd do it again. We shouldn't have chosen this tour. The presentation was extremely confusing, who the suspects were, the people who'd written books about it over the years, etc. We walked through a very busy area. The guide stood for several minutes and spoke at the start of the tour and even with the headsets it was very hard to hear him. Then he finished in a similar, very busy area that made for a very poor situation as far as being able to hear him. Boring, confusing, we "endured" it for 2 hrs. Definitely didn't enjoy it. As we left we chatted with another couple on the tour, they felt the same. The next day we were on a different tour and a family told us about their wonderful "Jack" tour. Same night, different guide, different company. So, we're writing this because your vacation time and money are valuable and we want people to have the information to help them make a better choice than we did.
The Tour was so well organised and the History of each location given was perfect. The length of the Tour was just right given. The admission fee was perfect, you can’t argue with that price. If you haven’t already been on this, I would certainly recommend it.
While I believe his heart is in the right place, this tour was a disappointment. Instead of a story telling experience, he was promoting his theory on who Jack the Ripper may have been and why the police theories are wrong. Lots of "thirty two steps to the left, I timed it....." as anecdotal evidence on his theory. Nothing on the history of the women, what the era was like, just "look what I think happened and please buy my book". The most disappointing tour of our week long trip. We were on the tour with several retired policemen and as we headed toward the underground, they all agreed is what not at all what they expected.
This was a great, in-depth tour exploring not only who Jack the Ripper was, but who the victims were. We loved Richard's expert information and enjoyed the tour. Definitely recommend!
Excellent, informative and delivered with great enthusiasm. Thanks Richard
A wonderful experience. Full of detail and different perspectives of each of the victims stories. Richard was very knowledgeable and engaging throughout the journey. Highly recommended taking the tour and jumping back in time to retrace the steps of Jack the Ripper.
Had a lovely walk with Richard around Whitechapel. He was very knowledgeable and definitely had a passion for the subject matter. Having a small group with individual ear speakers was fabulous. Would definitely recommend Richard's tour for anyone interested in learning more about Jack the Ripper!
Excellent tour! Richard is great and couldn't have asked for a better tour guide
Liz and Helen here thanking you, Angie for a great evening tour on 23/2/26.
We had a great time on or tour last night! Richard kept us well entertained! He had lots of new information that we hadn’t heard before. It was a compassionate side of the story, dealing fairly with the women involved. We all had a great time, all the while seeing a side of London we hadn’t experienced before! Highly recommend this tour for a fun evening!
Richard is an amazing tour guide! Very personable and welcoming. He has so much passion and knowledge for his tour that I could have listened to him for hours longer! The tour is especially good for those hard of hearing (which is why I booked this specific tour) as he has over-ear listening devices which can be adjusted with the volume and help to drown out background noises. I'd highly recommend Richard's tour - such an informative and immersive experience
Really interesting tour from Richard who gave a different perspective rather than just repeating the information available elsewhere. We liked the small group size and the headsets which made hearing what Richard was saying so much easier.
Richard is very personable and ever so knowledgeable. He'll make you think about what happened and what might be scenarios to the crimes.
Richard's depth of knowledge is remarkable. He not only recounted the Jack the Ripper tale but also questioned the accounts and statements from the period and gave his own thoughts. You won't find a more informative guide. Absolutely brilliant!
Richard was very knowledgeable and passionate about this subject. The tour was fun and the headsets made it very easy to hear what he was saying throughout the tour.
Very informative and extremely interesting. Well worth the time. Richard is very congenial. The group was not too large.
The tour was great...very interesting, and Richard shared lots of information. The group size was very conducive for sharing and asking questions. One suggestion: Break up the amount of time for information sharing. We stood in one spot for long periods of time.
Richard is so much fun and we had a blast! He gave us so much history around the Jack the Ripper case and it was engaging and fun—even with some heavy material to cover. We loved the small group and the headsets were genius. We didn’t miss a word of Richard’s talk because of that! Two hours went by so quickly—a good walk, a great story, clear passion and work has gone into this. Thanks for a wonderful time!
This was a very informative tour and our guide Cova was a witty and very knowledgeable Ripperologist. The tour itself was a pleasant walk and it left us in the mood to do some more research on old Jack.
This was our favorite thing we did while in London. Richard provided headphones making it easy to hear him while he was explaining what took place in the various locations we stopped. He is very knowledgeable about the subject and we learned many things that we have never read about before. We never felt rushed and were given the opportunities to ask questions. He only takes a small group so I definitely recommend booking this tour.
I recently took a Jack the Ripper tour in London with my teenage daughter, guided by Richard, and it was fantastic. We stayed in Whitechapel for a week, so we decided to give it a try since this is right in the area, and it exceeded all our expectations! Especially for my daughter, as a teen, she is hard to convince. Richard brought the story to life with a deep dive into the socio-economic conditions of the East End during that era. He did more than just tell us about Jack the Ripper's sensational crimes (and those were covered fantastically well as well); he painted a very vivid picture of what Whitechapel looked like at the time, how the people lived, and the struggles they faced, all backed up by historical photos. Richard's approach was both intelligent and engaging, which made the tour not only informative but also incredibly immersive. His narrative style, subtle British humor and articulate speech made the information very easy to absorb and incredibly enjoyable. The earphones Richard provided were a great touch, ensuring we could hear everything perfectly. The group size was perfect. Instructions were very well provided about the meeting place and Richard kept in touch prior and after the tour sending some additional information and content. The tour was a highlight of our London trip, and Richard's storytelling was a big part of that. I'd definitely go back for another one of his tours, maybe even for this one again! So well done! Very professional and passionate. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in history delivered in a compelling intelligent way. Anna and Sasha
We were interested in a small group, but this group had more people than we expected based on the description. I did appreciate the tech (microphone and headphones) used so that we could hear the guide. It was a good setup. The actual experience/tour was not as interactive as we'd hoped, and we definitely felt like we were standing in the same place for a long time. I wished we had brought an option for sitting or that we had stopped in places with options for sitting. I understand people may be looking for different things on these types of tours, but I was confused about why we were hearing about other killers (e.g. a woman who would kill babies she adopted) and actors. I think this guide is excited and wants to do a good job, but is still figuring out the right balance of storytelling, interaction, and being sure that the tour is engaging to a variety of knowledge levels about the topic.
What a fun tour! As a history lover I really, really enjoyed learning about life in Whitechapel in the late 1800s, and learning about the Jack the Ripper story from the perspective of the poor souls who experienced it, rather than the cartoonish story we normally hear. Our tour guide Richard was a lot of fun and really knowledgeable. If you are looking for a regular old ghost tour I don't know if this is for you, but I consider this so much better.
The tour was great. Richard had a lot of information on Jack the Ripper which was amazing. Any questions asked were answered.
Richard is amazing. He is a true researcher and presented clearly all the possibilities and the facts. I learned a lot more info than I had about Jack the Ripper. Thank you.
Richard was beyond knowledgable about the victims and Jack the Ripper and provided us his own thoughts which gave us a new perception of this mystery. I would love to sit and have a cocktail or two with Richard and discuss further. My only suggestion is that at 7pm, tourist are exhausted from their day touring and perhaps a section of the tour sitting (perhaps at Spitafield Market) would be very welcomed!
Our guide Richard was very knowledgable. He clearly has a passion for the story and history behind Jack the Ripper. We learned a lot about London’s history as well. Highly recommended. Thanks for a great walking tour!
My sister and I had a great time and learned so much, Richard is incredibly knowledgeable. It was like having a walk with a Jack the Ripper professor . The only downside was it was late October and I did not bring a warm jacket! Would recommend to anyone with an interest in this time period, will take my friends next time I am in London.
Very informative tour. The tour operator was very interesting and kept us engaged throughout. Would recommend.
I have been wanting to visit the UK and tour the infamous Whitechapel neighborhood home to the Jack The Ripper murders since first hearing of the story as a kid. Reading the reviews I was inclined to choose an author of a published book but I ended up choosing Richard's tour for its limited group size and it turned out to be a great choice. He provided good instructions as to where to meet him and he was unmistakable in his signature Indiana Jones hat. Richard handed everyone an amplified ear peace which I thought was brilliant, thus being in a noisy neighborhood where we would otherwise compete to hear the talk over the crowds and noise. I withheld my profession as a Special Agent until the end and I let Richard carry on unknowing of my experience and training in criminal investigation. Although I disagreed with his overall theory, I was quite impressed with his research. I was most impressed to find that he was one of the very few who challenged the conventional wisdom as to a number of aspects of the murders that have been accepted as definitive fact for face value. Richard offers a very good challenges to the absolutism that has otherwise been accepted most notably that the female victims were definitively working as prostitutes in White Chapel. This spirited challenge equally calls into question their behaviors on the night of their death and the eyewitness testimony concerning what several witnesses "believed" they were seeing. Richard equally pointed out some significant vulnerabilities in the eye witness testimony that has for the most part been accepted as accurate and factual. I really appreciated his critical analysis and thinking of the murders not being a regurgitation of the same hashed out run of the mill analysis. I would highly recommend Richards walking tour.
We had a fantastic night. Highly recommend this tour. Richard our tour guide was great. He was passionate and full of knowledge you could tell he loved his work….
Richard was very knowledgeable and well versed on Jack the Ripper but more importantly the victims. There was much to learn about the time, and he was the man for the job!
Richard knows his stuff! We all enjoyed that the tour was so much more than lurid and salacious details. It was history and a look into life in London in the late 1800’s. To reveal much more would ruin the surprise. Suffice it to say that my group of friends and I still discuss what we learned that rainy night! We truly appreciated the headphones as well.
Having done tours with Richard before, I knew about his guiding quality. A special appeal of his Jack the Ripper tour was the small group size. It turns out that on a cold January evening, I was the only tour guest. As usual, Richard had researched his topic very well and delivered the facts in a very entertaining way. It also showed me areas of London I had not visited before (and I have lived here for 14 years). I would definitely recommend this tour and, of course, Richard as a tour guide.
So interesting, fun, and Richard is an excellent and passionate guide! The directions and planning was so easy. And the smaller group was great.
Richard was a fabulous guide - very knowledgeable and entertaining. Highly recommend booking this tour as a unique experience in London.
We thoroughly enjoyed the walk around Whitechapel and Spitalfields with Richard. His depth of knowledge, story telling skills and passion for the subject matter were most apparent and the intimacy of the small group really enhanced the experience for us. We were especially impressed with Richard's efforts to put this extremely well known story into a context that considers the social conditions, the plight of women and the narrow perspective of the investigators at the time of the murders, thereby challenging long established and widely held assumptions. Very informative and thought provoking. We highly recommend this tour.
Would highly recommend to anyone visiting London. The tour was engrossing, intimate and informative. Richard was a great host and guide - his depth of knowledge and narration was extremely impressive.
Richard cuts to the chase! He’s a wealth of knowledge and has extensive background in the Ripper. He sets the stage for the time period and you’re enveloped in the story. Great job. Will do again next year.
Richard was a wealth of information- loved hearing all the different scenarios of possible suspects. He provided so much information we had never considered. If you’ve ever had interest in Jack the Ripper- Or like us just curious- his tour is a must. We had a great time!
This was a meticulously researched tour which was delivered with energy and compassion by Richard. It provided an extremely interesting evening and was a million miles from the normal sensational Ripper tour. Thank you for changing g the narrative and making us think about this in a completely different way
An evening well spent. Richard's narration, knowledge and passion took us back through time. Loved the walk - really a different kind of experience.
