We thoroughly enjoyed the trip to Dover via Leeds Castle and Canterbury on Monday 19th October. Cameron and Ahmed were excellent and quintessential to our fabulous experience Cameron’s brief history of Britain was great (and I’m a retired history teacher) and his origin of words and sayings was informative and funny. Ahmed’s driving was smooth and we enjoyed a very comfortable ride. A job well done. Thank you. Sue & Andrew

Located in Kent, ‘The Garden of England’, lies Leeds Castle, a beautiful medieval castle frequently referred to as ‘the loveliest castle in the world’. With 500 acres of landscaped parkland to explore and impeccably maintained gardens to enjoy, it’s easy to see why this beautiful castle was a favoured castle of King Henry VIII, who gifted it to his first wife, Catherine of Aragon. In its 900-year history, the castle has been home to no fewer than six queens and served many functions, including acting as a garrison, prison and the stately private home of its most recent owners. Learn all about this and more as our expert tour guide brings its fascinating story to life.
A designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, Canterbury Cathedral is both a serene place of holiness and beautiful tourist destination. As the Cathedral of the Archbishop, the spiritual leader of the Church of England, Canterbury holds a special place in British history. No ordinary Cathedral, Canterbury has a long history that is often described as ‘England in Stone’; from the role of its Archbishops in the Magna Carta to the murder of Thomas Becket after a power struggle with the King of England, Canterbury’s history is intertwined with that of England. Founded by St Augustine in 600 AD, the Cathedral today is one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in England, and the first building in the country to be redesigned in this popular style in 1774.
Dover Castle is a medieval castle in Dover, Kent, England. It was founded in the 11th century and has been described as the "Key to England" due to its defensive significance throughout history. It is the largest castle in England.
Soaring 350ft above the crashing waves of the English Channel, the White Cliffs of Dover are an instantly recognisable landmark of Britain. From Caesar to Shakespeare, some of history’s most important figures recognised the towering symbolism of the cliffs. Traditionally the site where British royalty would welcome overseas visitors, the cliffs served as an intimidating reminder of Britain's immovable resoluteness sense of independence.

Fantastic trip with Manon and Zenon. We’ve been to London several times and this is by far the best way to tour.
Very well arranged and great guide
It was a fantastic experience, made all the better especially by Phil: his friendliness, enthusiasm, and passion for what he does made the whole thing enjoyable, interesting, and fun. An unforgettable experience!
Phil was our tour guide. Very knowledgeable. He gave us a lot of facts and history as we drove and at our destinations. We wish we had more time at each stop, but this was a good way to see a lot of you have limited time (a day). Beautiful sights.
Deborah gave 100%. She was very informative, humorous and eager to meet our needs. I would highly recommend this tour! Stephanie Richardson
Kevin did an excellent job of relating the history behind Canterbury, Leeds Castle and the significance of the Dover area during World War II. He has a great sense of humor and was even conducting the tour in both English & Japanese! The highlight of the tour for both my wife and I was Canterbury Cathedral which a remarkable structure and, of course, a fascinating histroy.
The timing was perfect allowing ample time to see and enjoy each location. Sandra, our tour guide was amazing in her knowledge and communication skills. Leeds Castle is terrific to view, allowing one to see how people actually live today in these Castles. Very enjoyable tour. Thank you
Wonderful day with Megan. She was so warm and attentive, eager to answer questions, share her knowledge , and be there for any and all questions. Leeds Caste was my favorite, but all three stops helped me get the most of of seeing areas outside of London . Highly recommended!
Nora was very informative but quiet spoken.
It was a great day to go! Leeds Castle was beautiful and Canterbury cathedral was amazing. Wait to eat in Canterbury. Rough ride back due to someone attempting to cut in front of bus, but driver and guide were lovely.
This trip was so fun. We traveled with two young children and the tour guide was great with them and it was easy to manage. My minor critique is that the trip to Dover took us to the port of Dover and I was expecting to be a little closer to the white cliff's. Overall this was a great trip with children and I would recommend.
Our tour guide, Megan, was super friendly and knowledgable but didn't drone on and on. She was absolutely lovely and made the trip incredibly enjoyable. Everything was well timed so we didn't feel rushed and got to really enjoy the sites. We were back on time and returned to the drop off location stipulated in the description, which was super helpful.
Alex our driver and Lesley our tour guide were a fantastic duo! They were thorough and professional. Lesley genuinely cared that everyone on the tour enjoyed their experience and Alex even stopped in East London on our way back for members of our tour who were staying on that side of London. She gave us a plethora of information that was fun and interesting - all of which enhanced our tour experience. Thanks to both of them for a great day and great way to explore these areas!
This was an excellent tour. Lesley (tour guide) and Alex (driver) were excellent. Lesley was so knowledgeable but also had a good feel for how much information was enough. Alex treated us to some extra sights as we had extra time due to good traffic, driving us to see the castle above dover. The sights were all spectacular. Because you are doing three sights in one day you don't have a lot of time at any of them but it lets you see a big variety of things. Totally worth it! Pro tip: Bring sandwiches or something with you for lunch so that you can use your extra time in Canterbury for exploring the cute town.
I am disappointed with the white cliffs that was awful and told to use the most smelly and dirty beach bathroom. Leeds castle was a huge let down. It was so small and done in 20 minutes. Go to Windsor or buckingham place for a better experience. Then I paid for the church with my tour. The tour guide ignored my request and I messaged Viator to help with it. I had to pay $70 pounds just for my family and I to go to the church. That was pricey. Don’t waste your time or money with this tour.
This was a good tour, but not sufficient for the money paid for it. The biggest objection was the Guide, Sasha. At the start she was so excited and excitable that even as we were boarding I had to ask her if she'd already had 6 cups of coffee. It was impressive at the start, but her over-enthusiasm became tiresome and frustrating as the tour wore on. By the time we were half through we were fairly sure she was on some sort of drug-uppers. By the end we were quite sure of it. Worse, at the beginning we were issued listening boxes for the Cathedral. Nice! But by the time we got there she said "Never mind" and merely pointed to the Cathedral and said, "Go look for yourself." Why not? I do not know where she disappeared to. So our tour of the Canterbury Cathedral itself, supposedly the highlight of the tour, was much less than it might have been. Also, at Leeds Castle there were voice boxes but we were not authorized to use them. She also several times would not wait for stragglers and marched on leaving some of the guests to try to find the group. On the whole I would give the sights an A, the very-talkative Driver of the bus a C and the Tour Guide a D-. KRM and JWB
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience going to Leeds Castle, White Cliffs of Dover and Canterbury Cathedral today. Manon was an exceptionally knowledgeable guide, extremely friendly and she knew all the best spots for great pictures (she even took on the task of Volunteer Photographer). We really feel this experience was more than worth the price we paid. Also, I feel the need to mention our driver, Greg, as he expertly navigated the bus while we all took in the sites.
Our tour was BEYOND expectations and simply wonderful. Our tour guide, Phil, was exceptional and really deserves a raise!! His comments were insightful and personal. I appreciated his passion for history and deep love for his home country. Not to mention, he greeted each of us individually on the bus and encouraged us to ask questions along the way. He spoke in a clear and engaging way and never tired when talking to us during the entire bus ride there and back! Very impressive. Additionally, our driver, Greg, also kept us safe and comfortable on the road. Couldn’t have asked for a better duo. Sincere thanks to both!
Overall our trip and the locations were fantastic! What made the outing so special was the tour guide we had, Phil. It was obvious that he was devoted to his job and he gave so many intriguing facts!! We ended up taking two more tours and Phil proved to be very superior to our next two guides. He went above and beyond expectations and we learned so much. Our whole party agreed we'd come back to London solely for his tour. There was so much he taught us we didn't know and we especially felt he was very good at retelling history from a non-bias standpoint. We 100% recommend Phil and Evan and Evans tours. The locations are beautiful and our day was spent very well. If anyone asked, I would be absolutely delighted to let them know how much the tour fu-PHIL-ed everything we hoped for and more. A loud applause for the company of Evan and Evans and the loudest for PHIL!! May he forever be a tour guide!!! Pls tell Phil we are Phil fans! For Phil: -Thank you so much! From the people you ran into a second time at Stonehenge.
Our experience with Andy Jackson as our tour guide was truly exceptional. From the start, he provided outstanding support—he arranged taxis, carried our bags, and guided us to top dining spots. His professionalism and genuine care made the trip seamless, and we couldn’t recommend him more highly.
The tour was extremely interesting and even though it's a long day, it's a good amount of stops and time with the travel time. Canterbury Cathedral was a dream to see. My only comment about the cliffs is that I assumed we would drive at the top and see the view from the cliffs. The view is from the sea level and beach, so know that before going. Lesley was a great tour guide and had a breadth of knowledge and a very soothing voice!
Wonderful guide Sheila and driver Greg. The tour was delightful and our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Would have liked to have been closer to the White Cliffs of Dover.
The tour guide knew her history and was very educational to listen to. Of every tour guide in London, enjoyed this one most! The bus driver, (Tony ;) friendly and accommodating. Canterbury cathedral is beautiful. The story of the "Watchers" protecting it during the World War, touching. Sites and scenery, lovely. Would recommend bringing snacks or sandwiches, and beverages. You do get to put your toes in the English Channel, but won't be able to touch the Cliffs of Dover. If you want up close might explore boating options or going elsewhere? I really don't have the answer as an outsider visiting. We still enjoyed our day very much! Leeds Castle from Queens to an American prior to given away, was an unexpected twist. As Americans, our group enjoyed that fact. If you are in London a few days and looking to explore and get out of the city, this might be a great option!
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. Our driver was very patient with the traffic. I highly recommend
James tour guide and Jerry bus driver were fantastic all day ,thank you to them both for all your knowledge and keeping us safe .
Irene the guide was amazing and her knowledge of history extraordinary. I would almost book any tour with her as guide. Dalton the driver excellent and friendly. Very impressed with them and the tour
Excellent tour, guide Omar and driver Sorin. I highly recommend this day tour!!!! Leeds Castle is stunning.
Impressive views and a lot of history
Amazing trip. Easy to locate pick up and drop offs. Omar, you are wonderful. Thanks Souran for your safe driving 👏. Unable to upload the pics due to slow internet connection.
Nice meander through England’s History as well as through the variety of beautiful places not to be missed! Thank you, Kevin (the guide) and Arthur (the driver) for your enlightening and careful caretaking!
Anna and Vic were wonderful! Anna is well versed in history and art. She was welcoming and was very nice to be around. Our driver was great and got us safely in and out of places smoothly. The day is long, so bring a water bottle and some comfortable shoes!
Excellent experience . Tour guide Godfrey was extremely knowledgeable of all the sites and history surrounding the visited sites. Bus driver always on time . Would definitely recommend
Great view of the White Cliffs of Dover from the shore. We also drove past a point from which Dover Castle could be seen, which was great. Visiting Canterbury Cathedral and driving through Kent (truly the garden of England) made the visit even more special. Thank you to our guide Kevin for his help in making this a truly memorable day
We enjoyed our bus trip to Leeds Castle, Dover and Canterbury. Our guide, Omar, was wonderful and knowledgeable. Omar used the perfect balance of talking and allowing us to take it all in. This was a great choice, allowing us to see a little bit of countryside.
The trip was fantastic. The sites were good to see and it was great to have the history lesson along the way. Omar was a great host and Greg was a very safe driver.
Well spent day visiting Kent. The amount of time spent at each sight was perfect. Our tour guide Kevin was very informative and enthusiastic throughout the tour. Thank you Kevin for making this a truly memorable tour for our family. Transportation (with driver Remi), punctuality, easy of booking etc were all excellent too.
Leeds Castle, my eyes were hurting with this beautiful castle and grounds, and then when you think you have seen it all Canterbury Church will blow you . Then to finish this amazing tour off the white cliffs of Dover will not disappoint….highly recommend this tour …thank you Viator for a well organised tour
Our tour guide Phil was such an articulate knowledgeable and friendly person who answered so many questions and added so much historical background to the entire trip. He kept us all entertained and engaged the whole day. It was truly a wonderful experience! Our driver Alex was fantastic at getting us to our destinations quickly and safely. We saw so much in one day! This was the second tour we took with Evan Evans and the guides and destinations are the best. We truly recommend this trip.
Leeds castle was a fun place to stop and take in the culture and the town of Canterbury was nice as well . The cliffs of Dover were very disappointing as we were very far away from them and any pictures you take are very ordinary . I have been to the cliffs of Dover before and previously the bus drive right up on top of the cliffs which apparently doesn’t happen anymore . We also only stopped for 20 minutes at the cliffs of Dover . It was an ok experience but in my view not worth the price all up
Very nice trip. I liked the guide's information about London's/England's history. Leeds castle is beautiful as was Canterbury Cathedral. And, the cliffs of Dover are white, despite it being a cloudy day.
We stayed in the Douglas Fairbanks room in the stable courtyard. The decor was beautifully tasteful and the bathroom large with both a beautiful bath and large walk in shower. The check in staff were delightful. The restaurant was amazing with a wonderful view over the castle. The food was so beautifully cooked and served and the staff were so friendly and helpful.. Breakfast was absolutely lovely with a good selection. We had wondered the grounds the evening before and the day after explored the Castle which did not disappoint either taking in a talk while we were there about people who had been imprisoned in the castle over the years. Also we had a chat with an AI Queen Eleanor which was very informative... After the castle, we visited one of the cafes for a drink before we left, there are various ones around offering a variety of food.. There is such a lot there for families to do in and around the castle too, play park, boat rides, a Maze and adventure Golf.. It is well worth a visit but even better if you get the opportunity to stay over....
One of the main attractions for booking the trip was to experience the Dover cliffs. This was completely opposite to what the description indicated. We were not even close to the cliffs. We got to see it from very far from a beach on Dover. There was a 20 minute stop for a photo opportunity. But we were miles away. It was more a Dover beach stop. If we had known we would have never taken this trip.
Enjoyable trip. Cliffs of Dover spot is a little disappointing and it didn’t help that it was a rainy foggy day. All you really get to do is stop at the beach to take photos. I would have liked to go up to the castle on the cliff side. Otherwise Leslie, our guide, and Christian, our driver, were great. Knowledge and kept everything running smoothly. Great way to see a lot of stuff in one day.
Great tour! A fun day trip with lots to see. Must do, highly recommend this, great memories, fun to walk around see the castle and shops
Beautiful Day in Kent. Enjoyed Leeds Castle and Canterbury Cathedral. We could even see France from Dover it was such a clear and sunny day. Shiela had lots of very interesting history to share both on the coach and walking through Canterbury and the Cathedral. She is an expert.
Sheila was amazing! She was so helpful and knowledgeable throughout the tour. And Lucien was a fantastic driver! His safe yet efficient driving allowed us to spend ample time at the tour sites.
Sheila was phenomenal! Incredible history lesson as we passed through Leeds Castle, Dover and Canterbury. No detail was too small.
Overall good experience. Potentially consider doing guiding at Leeds for more information. Great tour of Centebary. Tour guide Kevin was cheerful and informative. Bus driver Marlon was courteous and friendly.
Had a stellar time with Cameron as our guide and Amarjit as our driver on this tour. Cameron was so funny and shared just the right amount of information! Amarjit navigated the narrow roads and dealt with the rain and wind, I always felt safe. Leeds was fun with the character actors on grounds. Canterbury was beautiful despite the downpours, hahaha. And Dover beach stole my heart. (I love stones!) Definitely recommend tours with Evan Evans!
