Tour Starts: 7:00 pm, outside Whitechapel Gallery
For three months during the late 19th century, the Whitechapel area of London was enveloped in fear. During this period, a series of murders known as the 'Whitechapel Murders' took place; five women were murdered and brutally mutilated by a killer that was never caught. To this day, the identity of the killer remains a mystery, and well over a hundred theories exist today that attempt to lift the veil on the identity of one of history's most elusive murderers. Wander the same dark, cobbled streets and alleyways as the Ripper's victims and visit the murder sites as our expert tour guide reveals the gruesome, horrific details behind their deaths and how the killer mutilated his victims in trademark fashion. Listen as our expert tour guide brings the history of 19th century Whitechapel to life and reveals an area gripped by fear and uncertainty.
You'll also visit Spitalfields Market and the Ten Bells pub, where it is rumoured the killer visited and selected his unwitting victims from as they drank their troubles away.

Delivery was excellent. Mystery, extra facts. Our tour guide John was fantastic!
Booked online via Viator. Showed up very early at the meeting point. Waited until 30 minutes past the meeting time. No guide ever showed up. Reached out to Viator and awaiting refund. Would not recommend.
We really enjoyed this 2 hour tour and it was different than what we expected, in a good way. I assumed it would be all about Jack the Ripper but it had a twist... it was about the women not the man/monster. Our tour guide, Jamie, was entertaining and knowledgeable while being very respectful to the women who lost their lives. Jamie set the scene up perfectly and his timing, locations and sharing the facts vs fiction was done really well. His passion for this topic was evident and he was excellent at the storytelling part of the tour. I learned more about this part of London's history and saw parts of the city I would never have explored if not for this tour. I definitely recommend it. It was a cool way to spend a few hours.
Our trip was cancelled and now I'm having to make all kinds of calls to get a refund. They still have my money. I'm not sure if Trip Advisor is to blame but I waited on hold 10 minutes and my call was cut off. Terrible customer service.
We wanted a spooky adventure while in London and got it with the Jack the Ripper tour. Our guide walked us through the streets and brought the story to life. Standing where the victims once stood, while it was dark and drizzling, was cool and creepy. The fish and chips sampler was awesome also. Would highly recommend this tour if you're looking for a bit of the darker side of London!
Tour guide never showed up or let us know tour was cancelled. We. Are now trying to get a refund but we had to waste a night of our vacation getting to and from drop off site.
We did the Jack the Ripper tour. Our tour guide John was extremely knowledgeable about Jack the Ripper and the history of London. The tour starts with a coach bus tour of London and then you walk for the Jack the Ripper tour. We also got free fish and chips. You get a lot in this tour for the low price. You won’t regret it. Book now!
John the tour guide was amazing! He was very knowledgeable, charismatic, and was so known by the locals in the White Chapel area it was clear he has spent years cultivating relationships in the area. Ally, our bus driver was also excellent. I would do this tour again in the warmer months and would definitely book more tours through Evan Evans! I had my 18 y/o daughter and 16 y/o nephew with me and they both enjoyed the tour as well.
John was an excellent guide, extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. J.C. our driver did an exceptional job navigating during what seemed to be very heavy traffic. All members of our family were pleased with our experience. Well worth doing a highlight of our trip to London.
John was amazing!!! He makes you feel the story he is telling. He knows his stuff!! Very much worth the time and money!!!
The manner in which our tour guide, John Steel, told us about the murders made the tour suspenseful and informative. The short stop for fish & chips was enjoyable. If you go make sure to book a nighttime tour and don’t stray down any dark deserted streets.
Amazing tour! Highly recomended! Our tourguide John was highly competent, funny and made the history come to life again. Also, the fish n' chips were impeccable! And also, Robin did and excellent job driving the coach. Torbjørn (Thor) & Helen Norway
John was easily one of the best tour guides I ever had (and I went to a million tours) so that must tell you something about him. Don't know how he did it, but I really felt like being in 1888. One of the best tours in London honestly. You shouldn't miss it really.
Reception was frosty - the. Our guide John was a little condescending and robotic . Loved the information and locations and the fish and chips was delicious .
Did this in Oct. A great cool crisp night. Perfect for this tour! John was great with lots of detailed knowledge of all the crimes Very passionate about the story. Stopping for fish and chips was a nice treat. Was a surprise for my husband who loved it as well. Would def recommend to others
What a blast, tour guide John fantastic. Takes you back to earie dark times, chills to the bone, the real story of Jack the ripper...told with passion, extensive knowledge....a must do
Excellent tour with John! It’s a nice size group and a very comfortable ride over to Whitechapel and back to Trafalgar Square. Great historical background.
Our guide on this tour was John. He is extremely knowledgable and a very passionate story teller. The tour itself was very good, but John made it even better. As an added bonus, we stopped for a small serving of authentic fish and chips. We highly recommend this tour!
Our driver Nicholas and our tour guide Rhys were friendly and perfectly punctual for the beginning of our tour. Rhys is very knowledgeable on all aspects of the tour, from the short bus trip past some major historical points of interest and points of interest which are key to the story of the white chapel murders. The vox box system was perfect to be able to hear our tour guide as we walked the narrow darkened streets and the fish and chips was a really brilliant extra! Nicholas’ driving through the streets must be commended also, safety was high on both of the driver and tour guides agenda. Highly recommend this tour even if your not a “ripper” fan, you will be afterwards 😜
John was a fantastic tour guide. He truly captivated us with the story of Jack the Ripper. My husband and I were so glad we did this. The two hours just flew by. The icing on the cake was when we had the fish and chips. They were delicious! Don't miss this tour with John! It is more than other tours, but the guide and the food was well worth it!
Our guide John and driver Abby were fantastic! John made it seem like we were brought back to the late 1800s. Walking the streets of white chaple while listing to John tell us about history of London and the victims of Jack the ripper were mesmerizing. To me, it felt like John was a time traveler explaining the events through his eyes. This tour was so worth every penny. The fish and chips was amazing and John showed us how to properly eat it. (1lb of salt and vinegar, and a good shake.... Little more salt.) lol. Folks we had a great time on this tour. Bring comfortable shoes and let John take you back to the 1800s. You'll Thank John at the end and tell your friends the history you learned from him. John, Thanks again. Sincerely, Craig, Gigi and Annette
I went on this tour tonight. The guide john was fantastic. Very imformative. He tells the story very well. Captivating. The driver Ashton was lovely as well. I would definitely recommend this tour with John as the guide. Very lovely Scottish man🙂 best tour I have been on all week in London. Definitely will be doing this tour again when we visit from Wales next year.
John is an excellent tour guide. He provides great information about the events of "Jack the Ripper" and about London itself, he is also extremely funny. The fish and chips on the tour are the absolute best! This tour is a must!
Wonderful tour. Guide really knew his material and the entire evening was delightful. Thanks to our guide, John.
John was not only an amazing tour guide, but his knowledge of Jack the Ripper was astounding. HE had so much knowledge and he really enjoyed giving this tour. He was so descriptive and animated that you felt like you went back in time and you were really there. The way he described how the area looked and how it felt to be there made my hair stand up ( in a good way). Then he showed us how to properly eat fish and chips, which was great also. If I am in London again, I will definitely take this tour again. The Evans Evans Tours office is very nice, instead of making you wait in the street, they have a nice room with chairs and an available toilet (just in case). The people working there were very nice and helpful also.
Our guide had wonderful stories and seemed to know a lot of the history. I would take the same tour again.
Our guide John was very knowlegeable and entertaining. The fish and chips were worth the price alone.
Emily was amazing and very knowledgeable. I would recommend this tour to anyone who want to go. Walking around Whitehall and learning about one of the darker moments in London history was a wonderful experience. I want to take it again on the fall when it gets dark early, just to add to the experience.
Great time with detailed knowledge of all the crimes. Nice stop for a fish and chip snack. The area has changed a lot but our guide did a great job of painting a picture with words
We had such a great time! Our tour guide, John, was so very knowledgeable as well as entertaining. We also had a fish and chips sample while walking through White Chapel. Highly recommend this tour!
This is an ideal tour for anyone interested in learning about not only Jack the Ripper, but life in 1880s London. As fans of the show Ripper Street, this was a must for us and the tour guide delivered! John was an incredible storyteller who made the past come alive through his detailed reconstruction of Jack's crimes. Highly recommend the tour company Evan Evans, the bus and John the guide!
Excellent guide and bus driver Gave an informative an entertaining tour. Would highly recommend this tour
didnt know much about jack the ripper, went with our 18 yr old to get spooked out by historical factual stories. john our guide is very knowledgable, very passionate about Jack the Ripper and documented information. fish and chips sampling was a nice touch and excellent snack. however, we founds that standing in a line up against walls , listening to drawn out details and stories a bit too...............educational. as the tour provided a bus, we thought we would be visiting multiple locations(hence the bus) for multiple stories, but we only got off once and walked thru one central area for about an hour......the rest was travelling there and back and the commentary given (most of which was duplicated on our hop on hop off bus tour). considering the higher price.......assuming now it was because of the bus............we wish we would have compared different tour companies( there are many Jack the Ripper tours) and just taken the tube directly to White Chapel to meet up with a tour guide for an hour or so. this tour definitely didn't need the 3 hours advertised. I would only recommend this tour to those who have a keen interest in and have extensively read about Jack the Ripper and welcome discussion with like minded.
It was an amazing tour to all the spots of Jack the Rippers murders. John, our guide, was very enthusiastic and he showed a lot of knowledge of this topic. He even gave us general information on London's history. I would recommend this tour to everyone who is interested in the dark side of London's history.
This was the best tour by far that we went on. John, our guide, was VERY informative, funny, and kind. He told the stories of the Ripper murders in such a way that transported you back to 1888. Treating us to the best fish and chips we have ever had was just the icing on the cake. FIVE STARS!
Excellent on all counts. Our guide John was absolutely superb and he really knew his stuff. He kept your interest from start to finish. Seeing the actual crime scenes and putting yourself back in those days added to the overall impact of the tour. Stopping for a fish and chips break was pretty cool too. His descriptions of the murders where they took place was my favorite part of the evening. I would do this tour again in a minute.
Our guide (I believe his name was John) was a Scottish man with great knowledge, quick wit, and impressive story telling ability. He had our attention the entire time, treated us to fish and chips, and overall made it easy to imagine what was going on in London, in the White Chapel neighborhood, in the late 1800s. I highly recommend this tour.
Had a nice night in a different area of London on this tour. I didnt know much about jack the ripper prior to signing up for this and I feel like our tour guide did a great job explaining everything we needed to know. It was definitely an interesting way to spend an evening! The fish and chips stop was great as well but to confirm, it is a "sample" portion.
On a lark we booked this Jack the Ripper tour while we were in London and we are so glad we did. This tour was one of the first nights we were in town and not only did we learn a lot of interesting facts about the Jack the Ripper phenomenon but we also learned a lot about London itself. Our tour guide was incredible and pointed out tons of quirky or interesting things along the way about London and specifically Londinium as it existed around the times of Jack the Ripper. We walked the paths he took, we saw the places he murdered his victims, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. So much of London has remained unchanged since these events actually happened so it's extra spooky to know that you are standing on the exact same sidewalk where he disemboweled an innocent victim. Our guide also took the time to dispell rumors and conjecture that are popular in movies and TV, and really put the whole event into perspective. You should absolutely do this tour if you are in London. Halfway through our tour we even stopped at a proper chippery and got fish and chips. Our guide showed us how to prepare them (with salt and vinegar) to properly enjoy them!
This tour was fascinating and well paced with our guide, John, having an impressive knowledge of Jack the Ripper. He led our group through the streets of Whitechapel and captivated is with insights and the fish and chips were definitely worth the wait. I definitely recommend this tour.
The tour was informative and interesting. Our tour guide was well informed and told great stories. They provided us an actual tour bus which was amazing. I would definitely do this tour again. The pick-up area where the bus picked us up at was not well marked and several of us weren't sure if we were in the right place. They also fed us a sample of fish and chips but we weren't allowed to use the restroom.
My wife and I took this tour with John as our tour guide.John was brilliant! His in-depth knowledge of both Jack and the Whitechapel area brought the history to life. The stop at Poppies for fish and chips was very good. Even though it was pouring rain, we hardly noticed as John was that compelling. Kudos to Allan our bus driver!
This was, without a doubt, one of the best tours we have ever been on! You absolutely need to request the tour with John, who took this tour and made it into an unforgettable experience. With his extensive knowledge and exceptional storytelling skills, he weaves a tale that has you so transfixed that you will feel like you are living it. John is WAY beyond your typical tour guide, drawing you into this gruesome tale with an impeccable sense of dramatic timing and pacing. As you walk the same streets and stand in the same places as Jack the Ripper and his victims, you will experience this story, not just hear about it. Highly recommend!
Hubby and I were in London for a anniversary trip. We took the Jack the Ripper Haunted tour with John as our guide. He is a true historian and gentleman. We enjoyed every moment... every word and Poppies Fish and Chips! I would love to come back to London and have a pint with John and hear more about Jack and London’s dark history! Valentine did a wonderful time driving. The combo driving and walking was great. Oh... the headsets were so amazing! Loved that I could hear every word. Thanks to John for saving my husbands life a couple times too! Ha!
John was fantastic! He really helped us understand the time in which this happened. And my favorite part was the trip back when he addressed all of the current theories of the identity of Jack the Ripper. Thank you so much!
Book this directly with the tour company, Evan Evans. I and 5 other people made the mistake of booking through viator, and arrived at the given meeting time prior to the 7 o'clock start time. We waited 20 minutes before a member of this gathered group called the tour company. Turns out viator has the incorrect meetup location and the tour had already met elsewhere and started. Because of this mess up, we were all unable to join what was touted to be one of the best haunted London tours.
The entire experience was very pleasant. You get picked up in a coach, and driven through town to Whitechapel while learning interesting history along the way. There's not a ton of walking, but you do get to see many of the locations where the actual events unfolded. You also get some of the best fish and chips I've ever eaten. John is a great guide!
This was one of the best tours we had in London. White chapel is beautiful with a dark past. The towns buildings were pretty much original, ( I love that) our tour guide was so knowledgeable. I learned more about the area and Jack the ripper than any movie could provide. We stopped for a treat, Fish and chips from poppy's. Best that I had. This tour is a must do.
We loved the walk through the streets of Whitechapel. John made us get into the spirit of the tour, and gave us accurate and interesting facts on the famous murders. You can tell he is an expert on the subject. He helped us imagine the 1888's streets in the area. The fish and chips were the best!
