Jed was a fabulous tour guide, very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We learnt a lot. Would definitely recommend.

Okay so I went on an official Jack the Ripper guided tour. I had given the trip to London to my wife as a birthday present — which sounds thoughtful until you realise that Whitechapel and Jack the Ripper were about to play a much larger role in the trip than she probably ever wanted. To be fair, we did other things too. There was the bus tour, the theatre show, and the wax museum. But any guilt I had about hijacking her birthday weekend evaporated the moment we reached Oxford Street and Primark. We have three children at home, and apparently all of them needed an entirely new wardrobe. I think she set a new record for “most items purchased while still claiming we’re ‘just browsing.’” One evening, we headed out for the Ripper tour. Our guide was named George. We were told to meet him outside Aldgate Station at 5 p.m. on a Friday. No description of what he looked like. No sign. No hat with a feather. Nothing. Conveniently, there was a loud American couple shouting “Jack the Ripper!” across the pavement. George approached them, which was our only clue, and the rest of us hurried over before someone else tried to claim him. So there we stood: George, the enthusiastic Americans, a Finnish couple, two very young people from Korea, and us. We looked less like a historical tour group and more like the opening line of a bar joke. The Korean pair seemed to know exactly one English word — “OK” — but that didn’t stop them from taking a photo every time George inhaled. The Finnish couple were more interested in every pub we passed; their eyes lit up with each one like they were checking off spiritual landmarks. The American man kept trying to tip George at random intervals because it was their last night in London and they “just needed to get rid of these coins.” And then there was me. I felt like I was sitting an exam in Ripper Studies. Thirty years of preparation and I was finally ready to unload it all. George began with an easy question: “So, how many people did he kill? Jack, not me.” The Americans immediately guessed twenty. Everything has to be bigger in America. They looked genuinely disappointed when the answer was five. The Finnish couple confidently stated the murders were done with a knife — which is technically correct, though not exactly an achievement. The Koreans said nothing, but their cameras clicked in encouragement. I, of course, delivered a long explanation about other possible victims, the disputed ones, and The Bank Holiday Murders, complete with dates and context. George cut me off before I started citing page numbers. We moved on. At each stop, George asked questions, and each time I was the only one answering. After a while he actually said, “This tour is basically unnecessary for you, isn’t it?” Which I took as a compliment. We visited all the murder sites — or what was left of them. One is now a car park. Another is a school. One was bombed in the Second World War. Still, the history lingered in the air, like an echo. Or maybe that was just my wife sighing, exhausted from hearing my voice narrate every step like I was recording a documentary she hadn’t agreed to be in. At the end, George asked who we suspected. I answered: “Charles Cross.” No one else had any idea what I was talking about. But George did. And he looked at me like someone finally understood his favorite topic. He even invited me for a beer at The Ten Bells — a pub that stood there during the Ripper’s time and was visited by at least one of the victims. A true historical location. But I don’t drink, and I’d already planned to visit the apartment used in the Hercule Poirot TV series. My wife probably would have appreciated a glass of red wine instead of watching me admire fictional detective architecture. I regret it now. We didn’t go. On the last day, we simply took a photo through the window of the pub — an act so touristy it should come with a warning label. But still, that night with George, under the streetlights of Whitechapel, surrounded by people who had no idea what I was going on about… I felt like I finally stepped into the mystery I’d been reading about since I was nine.
Jed was very informative and personable . We really enjoyed the tour and have a better understand the issues of the times
Ben was a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. I would highly recommend this tour. Interesting discussion before, during and after the tour.
I just got back from a Jack the Ripper tour, and it was awesome! Our guide was a blast—super fun and really engaging. He knew everything about the case and shared some fascinating details, but what I really appreciated was how he focused on the victims and their stories instead of glorifying Jack. You could tell he was genuinely passionate about what he was sharing. The tour didn’t feel rushed at all, but somehow, the time just flew by! If you’re thinking about taking a tour like this, I wholeheartedly recommend it. You won’t regret it!
The Jack the Ripper tour was very interesting. I really enjoyed the stories of the people involved and seeing where they lived. It did give the history of what happened new life to me. My heart definitely goes out to the victims.
Lots of facts and theories about The Ripper and life in Victorian London. Walking in the dark added to the experience when trying to imagine life back then.
Jed was an amazing guide, very respectful towards the victims and their deaths and was very knowledgeable about the area and topic.
Walking at an easy pace. Unbelievable historical knowledge, sightseeing and the chills you get are frightening. Loved it!
My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the Jack the Ripper tour. Our guide Constantine was very informative and passionate about the details and history. We would highly recommend.
It was very interesting . Thorough and informative . The guide was enthusiastic and knew his subject The streets were spooky and dark, so one could imagine being there in 1888.
This tour has great reviews and my friends had raved about it, but this was one of the most unengaging tours I've been on. Unfortunately, our guide didn't really have the 'story-telling' ability. He focused purely on dates and names and details (to excess), but he didn't really discuss the lore, the theories, cultural landscape, police response, etc. He didn't seem to really like questions and didn't have a read on the crowd (asked us zero questions, no engagement on where we are from like most guides). It felt like this job is for him to have a platform to talk at people rather than educate. Three people dropped from the tour (including 1 of my friends). The guide (Chris) didn't really have a handle on the timing either - people were checking their watches as we were overtime and not near the end yet. My friends and I ended up sharing information after the fact and learned more.
It was very interesting Chris pitched it all just right and created the atmosphere as we walked around and learned the stories of victims and associated history of the area. Fascinating. Would be nice to have a drink after and meet other folks on tour, perhaps in the 10 Bells pub! You could include as additional to tour?
We had a well-informed tour guide named Jericho (I think). The group was a fine size, not too big. Her presented several "theories" about the murderer.
Rory was a great guide. He was very knowledgeable, and gave us loads of random facts and general history. Thank you
Was a lot of fun. Great history lesson and nice way to see old parts of London. Very interesting hearing about theories of a guy never caught.
Had a really informative and enjoyable tour with Jericho. My wife and I really appreciated our guides deep interest on the topic!
Rory was quite informative and intelligent. We learned a lot more about Jack the Ripper than we expected.
Don't trust this tour company. Completely dropped the ball. No reply to messages.....offered another tour tomorrow...with a broken web link
Jericho was a great guide. Very interesting tour on the east side learning about one of the city’s darkest stories.
Really informative tour. Rory knows his stuff. Smaller groups than other similar tours we saw, which made it much better. Great way to see this part of London too. Tour would be even better if you did it in winter darkness, for added atmosphere and authenticity!
Great guy and great storyteller. Very respectful of the women of the story. On time and on point. So happy to have chosen this tour.
It was interesting and Rory was a wonderful guide. But so much has changed that it is difficult to visualize. Also the area is somewhat rough as we witnessed a group beating and chasing a man during the tour.
Really great tour around Whitechapel and the City of London. It was even better since it was at night. The tour guide was knowledgeable. Stop at The White Hart pub for a pint after the tour. The pub was around during the Jack the Ripper timeframe.
Nice walk through Whitechapel, a nice zone of London, and interesting story. Rina, our guide, was really kind and professional!
Highly recommend! A very interesting tour with a knowledgeable guide. Easy meetup site, too. I especially enjoyed his pointing out architectural details that remain unchanged since the time of the murders.
Sorry to give a 3* rating. The walk was missing elements like intrigue, enthusiasm & excitement. The story told was interesting with some details I had not heard before. But I did feel that it's a same story told over & over which did lack the excitement i think could have been implemented into the story. It was a birthday present for me from my hubby. Unfortunately other issues added to the lack of intrigue, being February weather, dark, cold & wet. On a plus it ended at Spitalfields market, which we visited the following day. And what a market it is. Great foods, drinks, and shopping to be had. Overall the walk is a must if visiting London. One that would like many things, that need only be done once in life. Just aim for a beautiful clear summer night if you can guarantee no rain. Thanks to the female guide with the slight German accent. I did not get her name clearly.
Great guide and learnt loads from him brilliant experience Good to here about the victims and accused, it's a shame there isn't bits you can see from how it would of actually looked like
Constantine our guide was just full of facts. Friendly, knowledgeable with many illustrations as well. Just a great guide. Highly recommend!
Ian gave an amazing tour and was knowledgeable about all of the victims and surrounding events. I also loved how he took time to set the scene of London at that time. He was personable and very funny. I also enjoyed that we had a small group of only 4 people. I would 100% recommend this tour.
The tour guide was very informative and has obviously spent a lot of time researching Jack the Ripper
We went where instructed and no one showed up! The walk never happened-a scam! We were two old Ladies at night alone because no one showed up for this supposed experience.
Standing at the sites of the murders was interesting: Though of course the city has now built up around the areas Couldn’t stay till the end, but tour was a little slow moving Some details could probably be dropped or condensed
Rory was a plethora of Jack the Ripper information, we really enjoyed walking the streets Whitechapel listening to the tales of the murders. 3 sites were visited as the other 2 were too far to walk to.
Great tour by Jason, super interesting and insightful. Would definitely recommend it with the aptly named Jack. Thanks for the fun tour.
We had a great learning experience with Rory (sorry if spelling is wrong) it was a 2 hour time travel back to 1880s. Guide was very knowledgeable and explained well about London history as well as Jack the Ripper. I knew why people called him Jack “the ripper” and use the word “hang over”
I didn’t really know much about the history of Jack the Ripper. Our tour guide Rory was great! He went through the history of the area at the time, the timeline of the murders and the suspects. It’s definitely made me more excited to do my own research.
Angie was very knowledgeable about Jack the Ripper. She made the tour extremely entertaining. In addition she had a very good sense of humor. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Ian was amazing showing the historic places, really nice guide. The tour shows the spots where the attacks happened. I recommend it
Fascinating storytelling by our guide, Rory. Very informative. The pace of the tour was fine, just wish it started later as I think nighttime would give the tour a better feel as to what it would have been like in 1888.
Our guide Rory was very knowledgeable. He made everything extremely interesting and the time flew by! Would highly recommend to anyone.
All the information that our guide shared. It was very educational and left you feeling in ah! It made me want to learn more about the event.
Rory did a great job. He was informative and entertaining. We enjoyed the tour even in the pouring rain
As someone who has been interested and researched Jack the Ripper for years this tour was amazing! It was well thought out and explained, including interpretations and information that are not generally known. Despite many of the areas in which the events have occcured being rebuilt, we were taken to these spots and given photos and background that gave context. Chris managed to give a full experience despite this being a 2 hour tour and had extensive knowledge about the victims and multiple suspects that brought things to life
Our tour guide, Rory, was so amazing. I’m a huge Jack the Ripper fan and I still learned a lot from Rory’s knowledge. He was great with questions we had and infused lots of humor into the tour.
Our tour guide, Jed, was great. Very passionate and knowledgeable about the subject and his victims. He really was able to tell the story about the murder victims without glorifying Jack the Ripper. Well done your and highly recommend.
The information that was given was interesting. Our tour guide, Chris, was pretty boring. Would recommend this tour with a different guide.
Interesting and informative our guide Isn’t was very knowledge and was humerus in his presentation. Two hours well spent.
The tour guide was excellent and really well informed. He also struck the right balance between respecting the seriousness of the topic and bringing in some light humour where appropriate. Really excellent job.
If I could give this company 0 stars, I would. They never sent a confirmation email about our tour. We went to the location anyway and waited per their instructions. No one showed up so we tried chatting and calling the number on our confirmation. Now when asking for a refund, these scammers are lying and will not give us a refund for the four of us because they say that the tour did go on and that they were there. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! They are SCAMMERS!!! Don't waste your precious time on your vacation on them. Choose another company to go with for Jack the Ripper tour.
