Fabulous morning - great value for money! Our tour guide Jo was engaging and informative, bringing the history of the Tower to life. We then met Tracy the Beefeater who gave us a fascinating insight into life as a Beefeater as well as more interesting information regarding the Tower and its occupants over the years. We had a great morning looking around the Tower, seeing the Crown Jewels (head here first - we came out to see a huge queue had formed while we were inside) while both the ravens and the squirrels provided extra entertainment! Well worth the money - my 9 and 14 year old children enjoyed the tour as much as I did. Would also recommend the Duck street food van situated outside the Tower grounds for a delicious lunch!

Itinerary
The Tower of London, standing along the River Thames, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with nearly 1,000 years of history as a royal palace, prison, and home to the Crown Jewels. Guarding it are the Yeoman Warders, or Beefeaters, former military members who uphold its traditions. This exclusive meet-and-greet takes place outside the King’s House, a restricted area normally off-limits to the public, where Beefeaters and their families actually live. This rare opportunity lets you hear their firsthand stories, ask questions, and take a once-in-a-lifetime photo with one of London’s most iconic figures.
The Crown Jewels are among the most prized treasures of the British monarchy, housed securely within the Tower of London. This dazzling collection includes royal crowns, scepters, orbs, and ceremonial regalia used in coronations and state occasions for over 600 years. The most famous pieces include the Imperial State Crown, adorned with nearly 3,000 gemstones, and the Sovereign’s Sceptre, which holds the world’s largest clear-cut diamond, the Cullinan I. Beyond their breathtaking beauty, the Crown Jewels symbolize the power and continuity of the monarchy. Kept under armed guard in the Jewel House, they are a must-see attraction for visitors to London. Witnessing them up close is a rare and unforgettable experience, offering a glimpse into the grandeur and traditions of British royalty.
Built by William the Conqueror in the late 11th century, the White Tower is the oldest and most iconic part of the fortress. This imposing Norman stronghold was designed to establish control over London and has served as a royal residence, armory, and even a prison. Inside, visitors can explore the Royal Armouries collection, featuring an impressive display of historic weapons, suits of armor worn by kings, and medieval artifacts. Highlights include Henry VIII’s imposing armor, intricate Renaissance firearms, and the medieval execution block. The White Tower also houses the Chapel of St. John, one of the best-preserved examples of Norman church architecture in England. With its towering stone walls and fascinating exhibits, the White Tower offers a glimpse into the military strength and political power that shaped Britain’s history.

Natalie was informative. Unfortunately our guide didn’t show so she had to put two groups together. She made the best of the situation. Her advice to go first to the Crown Jewels was great as it got busy quickly. Our Beefeater talk was interesting and informative. Getting in early was the best - we really were able to enjoy the self tour without too many people.
Natalie was very informative from outside the tower regarding The Tower surroundings. Natalie then took us to meet Beefeater ... Bruen. He told us of his story living and working in the Tower and the service he had done, his and others on how they are appointed as a Beefeater. Their clothing history/costs. Very informative and has a good joke with everyone. Each Beefeater tells their own story. We then visited the tower, Crown Jewels, White Tower. The is a must visit!
Barney the Beefeater gave us an amazing tour. Tons of info about the post and responsibilities as well as the tower and other buildings on site. Great stories about the history and how this site played an important part of london’s past. Plenty of time after the tour to explore the tower and visit the crown jewel exhibit. Perfect blend of tour and free exploration. Thank you Barney - we had an wonderful time!
An amazing day, our guide was cheerful and also knowledgeable , with a bit of cheeky British/French rivalry thrown in too. Our Beefeater, Tam, was wonderful. He gave us all a real insight in to life at Tower of London from an insiders perspective. He was actually hilarious and kept us all hanging on every word. A great day out, would highly recommend.
Excellent way to learn about the Tower. The Yoeman we had was fantastic and we loved every minute. This is a must do!
We had a wonderful experience on this tour. Our tour guide was brilliant to start with, thank you Joe, then we had a meet and greet with Andy the Yeoman Warder. He was very knowledgable, funny, interesting and personable. We went round the other parts as a self guided tour and then we met up with Emily the Yeoman Warder and joined her talk. She was also excellent. The Crown Jewels were amazing and all the displays and towers held interesting items, facts and features. Even the cafe served lovely and tasty food and was well worth visiting. It took all day which was a surprise but it really was worth it. Thank you to all.
So much exciting history shared by your guides, Beefeaters and taxi drivers. Everyone is helpful and friendly.
“Not Collin” guide was very engaging and encouraged regularly group participation. Then our pointed Beefeater, was informative and friendly. I learned a lot.
David was great! Lots of really good information about the Tower of London, its history and more. We later ironically had him again later in the day for the Churchill War Room tour and learned a ton!
David was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed his humor. Overall a great experience and kept our teenagers entertained.
David was entertaining and knowledgeable. Such a great time! We were informed of so much more than just the Tower. Definitely recommend!
The first 45 minutes of the tour involved walking around outside the Tower of London with the City Wonders guide who delivered a bunch of random facts about London, the Tower and English history. Whilst it was somewhat interesting it wasn't what we were expecting. The second part of the tour with the Beefeater was interesting, though a little short at only 20-25 minutes total. The exclusive part was the walk behind the chained off area in front of the Beefeater apartments where he had a chat to us. Overall this tour isn't worth nearly USD $100 per person. Book your tickets for the Tower of London direct, get there early to avoid the crowds and you will have just as good an experience.
We did this tour on a Wednesday morning! Most of it is outside; so dress accordingly. David was our Initial tour guide and he was hilarious and informative. Once entering the tower, we had Paul, beefeater, provide us with more history and Information. We definitely made it to the Crown Jewels before it was too busy. Lots of great picture locations too! All in all, great experience.
Great information given by an English Gentleman with an Australian sense of humour. Very informative and time to have questions answered and a great overview of the London Tower.
One of the best tours I had in a very long time. Definitely the best one I took in London and I was visiting several times. Everything, from the coordination and warm hello from the person who waited with the flag, through the tour content, fantastic guide was top quality. The weather could be better but I suppose this is outside of the company’s control 😉 Thanks again I really enjoyed the tour.
No crowds early in the morning and there were no lines to the tower facilities and the jewels after watching the entertaining opening ceremonies. Small group, plenty of time to see what we wanted, self guided. Tour guide talked to us about sites and history while on the river cruise and told us the good places to sit, found us the best places to stand while waiting for the Guard ceremony, gave complete and sensible meeting locations and times, and generally took very good care of our comfort and viewing enjoyment. Windsor Castle was lovely and the guide told us where to go first to see the most in our time there and when we needed to be back to the train. Mostly self guided tour so you would need to be comfortably independent in travelling around London to enjoy this tour. The guide did not get us from Buckingham Palace to Waterloo station, which was a bit scary, but we managed on the tube.
This was a great tour. Tour guide in the morning was extremely knowledgeable and knew where the best spots were to take pictures of the Changing of the Guard and Horse Guard at Buckingham Palace. Got to see the Opening Ceremony at Tower of London and was able to get right in to see the Crown Jewels because of this. The afternoon tour of Windsor was basically an escorted train ride to Windsor and a brief tour of the town with a guide but she was also fantastic and knowledgeable. Learned a lot about the past and present Royal Family. One suggestion is if you are taking this tour, make sure to route out your way from Buckingham Palace back to Waterloo ahead of time if you are not completely comfortable figuring out public transportation in the spur of the moment. The train back from Windsor is easy to catch and located a few minutes walk from the Castle, however Waterloo is further away from Buckingham Palace so requires a train, bus or cab there. There’s also quite a bit of walking in between locations of things (including brisk walking to catch the river taxi and when we were trying to get glimpses of the Horse Guard) so make sure you can handle this physically. Great time!!!

I would give this five stars, if it weren't for the Windsor Castle Tour bit, but I'll get to that. Josh was our guide for the Best of Royal London portion of the tour and he was stellar. Very informative and funny, as well! The beat the line first dibs on Tower of London was amazing go see the Crown Jewels first, because the crowd builds up quickly for that. I loved that we walked, it really gave you the opportunity to appreciate London, particularly St. James' Park, it was beautiful. It only drizzled at the beginning, nothing a hood on your jacket couldn't solve. I would recommend using the restroom on the water taxi that you take down the River Thames, there aren't frequent bathroom stops. The only portion of this trip that left a bad taste in my mouth was the small-group Windsor Castle Tour. We had trouble finding Waterloo Train Station which is up the stairs from the Waterloo Tube Station. The guide just did not seem like she wanted to be there. I don't remember her name. She got us onto a train, didn't talk to us very much. She walked us to Windsor Castle, got us tickets, in the door, failing to tell us that we only had TWO HOURS to see the entire castle before closing. And that was it. She left us there and definitely did not get a tip. It was disappointing to go from a guide as incredible as Josh to someone who actually did not care, like this woman. Best of Royal London gets five stars. Windsor Castle Tour gets one star, because of the guide.

One of favorite tours we took while in London. Allot of variety in this half day tour. Guide was very knowledgeable and tour was well paced and timed to see changing of the guard. We followed this tour with an afternoon tour to Windsor Castle. Best day of our five days in London! We had same excellent guide for both tours.

I enjoyed this tour from start to end. The guides were awesome. They were knowledgeable about all things royal and engaged the group with historical and fun facts. Windsor is simply amazing. It was my first time there and had a great time surrounded by the opulence of impressive treasures and art pieces.
