Despite Storm Austin doing its worst, we had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. Chris was a great guide, very knowledgeable in all things Downton, as well as many more facts about both London and film. Takes you through some beautiful parts of London, you may never otherwise find. Would highly recommend to both Downton fans as well as anyone just interested in London buildings. Thank you Chris😊

During the walking tour, you can relive tense moments with Anna retracing Bates’s movements in London, the steps that Edith takes when she discovers she is expecting Gregson’s baby. The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. We would certainly recommend this tour just not in the heat
Eva our guide was amazing. My wife loved it. Thanks
A good walk, led by Michael, who was very knowledgeable, not just about Downton Abbey, but about other uses of the buildings covered, their former uses, owners, etc. The walk focused on the uses of various locations in Central London, with the aid of prints of scenes from the programme, but included extensive factual historical background. Michael is an enthusiastic, knowledgeable guide.
This was a fantastic tour! So many sites, so much information about filming DA and also historical information about the sites. It was a lovely, quiet part of London and we saw so many places we wouldn't have seen otherwise. Our guide, Michael, was so full of information and so much fun. This is a "Don't Miss" tour! Highly recommend and hopefully you'll get Michael for your guide.
Micheal was a fantastic guide , knowledgeable , humorous and educational . We are now looking to book other tours led by him . We would highly recommend .
Michael gave us all the Downton info about locations, with a big picture book that let us see the scenes from the show, and then he also knew the history about the real people behind the buildings too. Fascinating history of people and times. We enjoyed this tour inmensely.
as described by Britmovie tours
Chris was amazing and we considered ourselves lucky to have him as our tour guide. We both really enjoyed the Downton Abbey London Walking Tour. The group size was just right and although there was quite a bit of walking the time seemed to go quickly. We were given the tickets as a Christmas gift and we could not have had a better present. It was so interesting to see the buildings used in Downton Abbey and understand how they improvised to get the authentic look.
A really interesting tour. I was surprised just how many London locations were used for filming 'York' and 'Ripon' and other locations. Chris was a great guide and had stills photos from Downton Abbey to jog our memories of the scenes - which really added to the experience. I thoroughly recommend this tour.
Really good tour, with an excellent guide. Lots of other interesting facts given about the places we saw, however, at times, there was more about other things than about Downtown Abbey, which was a little disappointing. Overall a good day.
We really enjoyed the Downton Abbey tour. Our guide was so much fun, and knowledgeable. He shared photographs of the areas around London that doubled up as a different area completely. We went to some side streets that I would never have known about, some beautiful areas of London. Thank you so much.
As a big Downton Abbey fan, I absolutely loved the walking tour.... The guide, Eva, was enthusiastic and made the walk even more interesting by adding more than just Downton facts!
very good our guide Chris was welcoming and very informative, both on Downton and the history of the locations, we would definitely recommend
Chris was very informative both on the Downton Abbey locations & the history of the locations. Chris was keen we were safe on the roads and was easy to hear and understand.
A good tour if you're interested in the later seasons of Downton Abbey. Our guide was great and she also pointed out if locations were used in other series like the Crown etc. This tour also covers a lot of ground so be prepared to walk. We saw lesser travelled areas of London which was also neat.
Absolutely amazing, didn't realise how much was filmed in London, this is our second brit movie tour and would highly recommend
Ava was amazing , very friendly , knowledgeable and fun ! Some great locations in London that I’ve walked past a hundred times and didn’t know they was there.
This was a great tour that showed some hidden gems of London. So amazing to see how the older areas have been used in cinematic storytelling. Was a lot of fun!
Russell our tour guide was very informative even not about Downton Abbey. Great small group weather just right, not too much rain! Very enjoyable thank you Russell
Michael was brillant 10 out of 10, great way to spend time in London..saw places I did'nt even know where in London would do it again.
We had a fantastic time, our guide Michael was incredibly knowledgeable and had a real passion for the Downton Abbey series and films. We were so inspired by our tour we are season 4 of a mammoth binge re watch of this amazing production. We will be booking with Brit movie tours for sure!
A lovely walk. Small group and very informatiive. It became so much more than just the Downton Abbey tour. We learned so much more about London itself. Knowledgable guide.
Booked the Downton Abbey London location walk tour for Good Friday 29 March 2024, arrived outside Temple tube station, met guide , 8 in total on tour, saw many outside of various buildings used in tv series , lots of fascinating in formation provided by excellent guide Chris, who advised this tour first for this season, last year tours continued until November, tours worth doing , be prepared lots of walking, wear comfortable shoes, had one comfort stop midway, if you a fan of Downton this tour a must
Val was a great guide who moved us confidently round the various locations, some tranquil, others really busy! It was interesting to discover the way they had been used to represent scenes in the programme both in London, and other parts of the country too. She shared some historical facts and a few handy tips about visiting London along the way. At £15 for 2.5 hours it was very good value.
Yesterday I took my mum for the Downton Abbey walking tour in London. She loved it and we saw some very beautiful locations. Eva the tour guide was awesome. Lovely warm personality, jolly and incredibly knowledgeable, she didn't look at a script once! It is a fast paced walking tour so make sure you take your most comfortable shoes and high energy levels. It was a wonderful day for us both. We would recommend it.
We took the tour with our lovely, engaging guide Eva - what a delight she was! The tour was close to 3 hours long due to a slight detour because of the London Marathon taking place the next day. Even if you are not a Downton Abbey fan, its well worth coming on this tour as Eva provides lots of information on historical sites that were just as interesting as the Downton Abbey sites. I would love to take this tour again just to soak up all the information she provided. There was a bathroom break during the tour which is very handy. This was an amazing tour that that ended our London stay on a high note. Take this tour - I highly recommend it!!!
Brilliant tour seeing some of the places they have used for filming. Our tour guide Eva was funny & friendly. We saw lots of places we wouldn't have known about or seen which was good. The tour was approx 2 & a half hours with a toilet break in the middle. We were lucky enough to only have a group of 6 so it felt more personal & the rest of the group were lovely. Easy to book experience, I would 100% recommend.
I really enjoyed seeing the filming locations in London for Downton Abbey. Due to everything ramping up again after Covid, the company was very busy. Eva who normally conducts this tour was unavailable. We had a very pleasent gentleman, but he was not wholly familiar with the tour. It was also very hot out, and no blame on his part, we did skip a few locations as the group was getting very tired. I appreciate his willingness to try hard, so as not to have to cancel the walk. Enjoyed learning a few tidbits about the show I had not known before.
We were very impressed with our guide Eva, from Norway originally. A compact small group, we were pleasant ly surprised by the lovely buildings, particularly around the Temple area. Also very interesting to be told that many of 5th e locations in London were used to depict York, Wetherby and Ripon. Very clever use of the scenery. Altogether a good solid walk. 😉
Excellent walk for Downton Abbey fans. Our guide Eva was very knowledgeable, informative and funny, which made the walk very worthwhile.
Really great walking tour. Eva was a great guide - very knowledgeable about Downton & London in general. She took us to some wonderful unknown places. We had great weather too! Highly recommend 👍
15000 steps and 3 hours of walking around some of the most beautiful places in London hosted by the excellent Eva. Her knowledge of each site was immense in terms of both the significance to Downton Abbey (she had stills of each location from the series) and the relevant history of the location itself. Highly recommended but wear comfy shoes and pack a bottle of water!
A brilliant tour and Eva our guide was absolutely brilliant, a true credit to your company, with a great knowledge. We had a fantastic day and the weather was lovely(wear sensible shoes). I would highly recommend this to anyone.
Did this walk on 9th July with my mum. We are both fans and thoroughly enjoyed the walk. Our guide Michael was informative and a great host. We learnt a lot, even about other historic facts. Great route and would really recommend to anyone that is a Downton fan!
The whole tour was very informative and interesting. It was made all the more enjoyable by our tour guide Michael who told us lots of relevant and interesting facts. Would fully recommend Downton fans doing this tour.
Seeing parts of London that I never knew existed. Appreciating the flexibility of London filming to appear to be somewhere else. Well informed tour guide, thank you
A very enjoyable and interesting day. The guide (Michael) was amazingly knowledgeable and providing additional information related to the areas we were walking through. As previous reviews have stated the tour starts at 11am from Temple Tube Station and ends at near Green Park. There is a welcome 'comfort' stop at Somerset House. The tour lasts approximately two and a half hours, so comfortable clothing and footwear are required. I didn't appreciate how much of the TV series was actually filmed in London, and Michael helpfully showed photographs of the scenes where the location featured - very useful for someone who hasn't seen the series since it was originally televised!
We were given this tour as a Christmas present in 2019 but due to Covid, it was cancelled on 2 occasions, therefore we were eagerly awaiting the tour taking place this time and it didn't disappoint. The weather was fine and not too sunny so walking around wasn't a problem. Our tour guide was Michael and he was excellent, funny and knowledgable about the beautiful period buildings and cobbled street where scenes were filmed and how they were filmed. We visited areas of London we would never have seen without this tour.
Thoroughly enjoyed this tour despite living in London years ago you never bother to really take a look around, this tour takes you to locations that you would never see. The tour guide Lotte was great and really knew her downton stuff! We would recommend this and we did over 12,000 steps on the day and enjoyed a lovely lunch before returning home to the sticks
It is necessary to arrive early for this tour as there is no way of contacting the guide once the tour starts and you do not stay in one location. We walked from Temple to Green Park with a comfort stop in Somerset House for those who needed it. It was very hot on the day we did it and as it is all outside, there is not always shade available so bear this in mind. The tour runs on a Friday morning from approximately March to October and if it rained on the day, you would get very wet! Our guide, Michael, was very knowledgeable and provided a lot of general historical information about the areas we passed through, as well as pointing out Downton locations and snippets about the characters. We did a Call The Midwife tour last year with the same company and I think I enjoyed that more, but then that was just in the one location of Chatham Dockyard and there was more shade available.
My wife was given this walking tour as a gift, and we undertook it on Friday last. I need to say from the outset that the Tour Guide Lottie was exceptional, a very bubbly, knowledgeable lady who made the experience a very memorable one for my wife, who is eagerly awaiting the release of the new film. Lottie guided us around London, with frequent stops outside various locations used in the TV series, and she explained the connections and how the TV Company had achieved the period look in each location. The Tour started at Temple Tube Station and ended at St James Palace, wending our way through some of the capital's famous landmarks. This tour is definitely worth it for fans of Downton Abbey, just remember to bring a camera to capture everything, and be sure you have Lottie giving the tour, there is no one better.
Loved loved this tour! The guide was incredibly knowledgeable and had such positive energy. I live in London and am a seasoned fan of Downton Abbey, but this tour opened my eyes to and brought both London and Downton alive. Would do it all over again - so good!
We has a great guide who knew his stuff, about both Downton in particular and the film/TV industry in general. We learned a lot about London as well.
This was a birthday present, which I attended with my Mum as we are both big fans of Downton Abbey. We had a great tour guide Ben who was so helpful and gave us so much information it really was such a good day out. Would definitely recommend this tour.
Just finished this walking tour, it was over two hours of walking but we got to see some little gems of London which we walked past so many times yet did know the existed. We had fantastic weather to top it off, even if your not a Downtown fan I would recommend this tour just to see places normally you would miss other wise.
Really enjoyed the walk - was great to stand in various spots around London where Lady Mary, Cora, the Dowager had been acting. Our lovely guide Amber explained the context of each stop on our tour, and showed photos of scenes from the show so we could remember why the characters had been there and re-live the storylines.
We had this walk purchased for us as a gift for Christmas. A nice easy meet at Temple station and then a peaceful start around the Temple as Michael our guide proceeded to explain how the show uses those old buildings in London to become many different cities across England. Apart from information on the show we learned some tricks of the TV trade and some other informative snippets about society life in the UK at the time the show was set. Thoroughly enjoyed that and the walk across other parts of London. It was about 2 and half to 3 hours long, with a comfort break part way round which helped. We were tired when we got home but glad that we had done it - would recommend for any fans of the show.
We hesitated between Harry Potter and Downton Abbey. Finally, we found 13 other people at the Temple tube exit to visit the Downton Abbey filming locations. Excellent decision!! Amber is a friendly and talented native Texan who has lived in London for 20 years, including 10 as a professional guide. She directs many tours Bridget Jones, Mary Poppins, etc. In addition to working for britmovietours, she created her own americantourguideinlondon agency. Private tours, costume tours... Armed with his photo bags, It takes us to dozens of film locations in Temple and Westminster. Temple is full of filming locations for its architectural diversity, courtyards, passageways, gardens and relative tranquility compared to other neighborhoods. It puts us from the point of view of the camera, tells us the freedoms brought by the director and reveals the scenes of the film. Magic! By changing a sign, by camouflaging a 21st century artifact, it really feels like 1910-1920, in London or elsewhere in England. She knows how to communicate her passion for her adopted city and her subject. In passing, she reveals information about other shoots, such as James Bond. Occasionally, at red lights, she pushes the song. and she has a very beautiful voice.
