Christopher was a great guide: knowledgeable, flexible, organized, and an all-round very nice man. My husband and I booked a private tour from London to the Cotswolds. We knew very little about that area and wanted the chance to get out of London for the day. Christopher made it come alive by taking us to some of his favorite places. His commentary was a balanced mix of local history and a discussion of what it’s like to live in the Cotswolds today (He was from the Cotswolds and had family there.) The pacing was excellent, and he made us lunch reservations at a local restaurant/pub, which was friendly and had delicious food. Finally, when we realized how close we were to Oxford, he reorganized the day to accommodate a quick side trip to the university town. We HIGHLY recommend Christopher’s tours.

We had a perfect day-trip tour of the Cotswolds, from London. The overall experience was first rate in all respects. We were easily able to modify and customize the itinerary, pickup was also customized to accommodate two stops, and everything was prompt and efficient. Pre-tour communication was timely and easy. Our guide, Christopher, was very knowledgeable and informative, including with respect to relevant history pertaining to different stops. The tour was comfortable in a luxury vehicle, not an overcrowded bus. Also, unlike some group tours we have had in various places in the past, there was no push to patronize favored restaurants or stores, just unbiased advice and suggestions. I would highly recommend Tour Brittania, and will look for another opportunity for a future tour myself.

We LOVED our tour of the Cotwolds! David was an excellent guide with so much information on the area. He provided a great narrative that was interesting and entertaining to the kids and adults in our group! We went to the perfect places to see the well known villages as well as some hidden gems! My wife and I have always loved travel that included the two of us, a car, and a new area to explore. At 76 years old, a 10 day tour of the Cotswolds, ending in Oxford was more than we wanted to try alone, and any kind of structured group tour was not going to happen. Sometimes you get lucky. Tour Britannia was arranged by our travel agent and it was a game changer. By the end of the first hour, our guide Chris heard and got that photography was important. That backroads and authentic was better than tourist stops. By the end of the first day, (Chris was our guide each time a car was involved), it was like I was driving. Add Chris’ enthusiasm, knowledge, and experience and he replaced the initial angst that our age may be getting us closer to that tour bus, with a simply wonderful time. I could go on but suffice it to say that our recommendation for Chris and his family owned company is unqualified. Thanks Chris!
Highly recommend! Dave did a great job of showing us parts of the Cotswolds that tourists don't usually see. After Bourton on the Water, we asked him to show us the beauty of the Cotswolds. It was wonderful! Quiet, could close my eyes and hear the birds. He knows the history. It was just 3 of us which made it suited to our interests. And he was kind enough to stop at the grocery for us.
My husband and I decided to splurge on this private tour of the Cotswolds and we are so happy we did! What a lovely day with our tour guide Christopher. We were picked up promptly at our hotel at 8am and had a wonderful and relaxing 2 hour drive to the Cotswolds. Christopher gave us an overview of our day and told about the history of the region. He even made a lunch reservation for us at a lovely restaurant in Barnsley, which was the highlight of our day. Our first stop of the day was in the lovely village of Bourton-On-The-Water, and we were given time to walk along the river and to explore some of the shops. The other villages were equally as charming and the scenery was spectacular. We can see why this is a much loved region of England and why it has been a must see destination for anyone visiting England. Christopher was very knowledgable about the Cotswolds and also about the history of England in general, so we learned a lot from him. It really made our tour so much more interesting, We can’t thank Christopher enough for his hospitality and his professionalism. We were sad for our tour to end as we felt like we had made a new friend. We definitely would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to visit the Cotswolds, and we would do it again if we could. Thank you Christopher for making this tour the highlight of our visit to England!

We had a really enjoyable day in the Cotswolds on our tour with Christopher! When we reached out to Christopher ahead of the tour, he was happy to customize some of our destinations to include locations from Clarkson’s Farm, which was very exciting for us as fans of the tv show. On the day of the tour, Christopher showed up promptly at our hotel, and had a very nice vehicle, with water, entertainment, and WiFi available. He explained our itinerary as we drove out to the Cotswolds, as well as giving us a lot of history and background on the area. He was very knowledgeable about Cotswolds history and we really enjoyed chatting with him during the couple of hours journey out of London. We really enjoyed all of the stops. The small towns were very interesting, and Christopher did a great job explaining the history in the architecture in each stop. He also made sure to walk with us through certain areas to make sure that we saw all of the interesting sites and gardens. We really appreciated the opportunity to have a ‘mooch’ in Bourton-on-the-Water, and Christopher was happy to park and wait for us to hang around town for a little while and visit the pub before heading to our next stop. Christopher also prearranged an awesome lunch for us which we really appreciated. We had excellent local Cotswolds fare in a beautiful old manor house setting, and also enjoyed the gardens at the lunch stop. Christopher also showed us around some ruins while explaining a lot of background and stories about the place, which was a great opportunity to explore and get a feel for the castle/hall that used to be there. Lastly, Christopher gave us an opportunity to visit the farmers dog pub and was happy to wait for us to visit the shop (and have a pint) before our trip back to London. Overall, we loved the day with Christopher and would highly recommend this tour to anyone who is in London and would like to spend a day enjoying the English countryside!

Christopher was fabulous! Absolutely the best experience ever. He took us to the most delicious and charming manor house for lunch. He was so accommodating in our photo stops and shopping excursions. Along the way he shared both personal and historical information about the land, villages and culture of the area.

We wanted to see the beautiful Cotswolds without the crowds from a group bus tour and were extremely pleased with our decision to take a private tour with Tour Britannia. Our driver/ tour guide , Christopher was professional, knowledgeable and friendly . He asked us what we were looking forward to seeing and brought us to all the villages we agreed upon as well as a special little gem . Christopher’s itinerary was organized and efficient . We had plenty of time to visit the villages and he made us a reservation for a lovely lunch at beautiful restaurant that was a former manor home. He mastered an excellent balance of explaining the sites while giving us time to experience the area on our own. Christoper was a safe driver and the vehicle was clean, comfortable and roomy. I was relieved that the vehicle did not have any noxious air fresheners like some others we have travelled in . Having a private driver afforded us the opportunity to see what we wanted on our time and we didn’t have to worry about parking which is limited in the Cotswolds. We were celebrating a special anniversary and are grateful that we chose this tour to make beautiful memories . We highly recommend this company for a safe, stress free and informative experience . Christopher was an amazing guide. He arrived on time in a beautiful new Mercedes for our trip to the Cotswolds. He talked about the history of the area and took us to several charming Towns. We never felt rushed or pressured. He made reservations at a charming English restaurant. We weren’t too fond of the food at The Pig but I think we ordered the wrong thing. I recommend Christopher without reservation.

We had an absolutely lovely day with Henry. He thought of everything to make the day delightful. The stops that he planned showcased the many aspects of the region’s history and beauty. He booked a reservation for lunch at a wonderful restaurant with spectacular gardens. Knowing we had my 10 year old daughter with us, he planned a stop at a farm park where we got to feed baby animals. The car was quite comfortable and well stocked with tissues, water, mints and sanitizer. We had WiFi in the vehicle and chargers. It was such an easy, interesting and very enjoyable day. Henry was knowledgeable, organized and so easy to work with. I highly recommend!

Christopher and team planned a perfect day tailored for our family! Our day entailed beautiful photo ops in many famous Cotswolds towns, shopping, history of the region, a stop for delicious lunch at a little quaint B&b, and stops in many very special lesser known places . We were able to see all the well known places we wanted to see but it was the lesser known spots that Christopher took us to that made our experience one of kind! Highly recommend this tour!
Henry was great at communicating with us the day before and day of our tour. The travel accommodations were spacious and comfortable. The sites we visited and the ability to stop whenever we wanted and take photos was very convenient. In addition, Henry was kind enough to proactively make us a Sunday roast reservation for lunch where we enjoyed a lovely meal and drinks prior to driving home. If you could bottle up the perfect tour guide—equal parts historian, conversationalist, and genuinely delightful human—you’d get Christopher. From the moment we met him, he exuded warmth, wit, and that rare kind of patience that suggests he could effortlessly handle both wayward sheep and jet-lagged tourists. The Cotswolds themselves? Pure magic. Rolling green hills that look suspiciously like a film set, honey-colored cottages so charming they almost feel smug about it, and villages that seem designed exclusively for cozy mysteries and high-quality shortbread packaging. It’s a place so breathtaking you half expect to bump into Jane Austen mid-stroll, or at least a very judgmental pheasant. Christopher didn’t just guide us through the landscape—he brought it to life. He had an easy way of making history feel less like a dusty textbook and more like an engaging dinner party anecdote. He answered every question with enthusiasm, even the truly ridiculous ones (which I will not be naming here for the sake of my own dignity). And through it all, he made us feel like old friends, rather than just tourists in the back of a van. If you’re considering a trip to the Cotswolds, take this as your sign: go. And if you’re lucky enough to have Christopher as your guide, well—you’ve won the tour guide lottery.
My wife and I did the Private One Day Luxury Tour of the Cotswolds in December. Our guide was Christopher, and right from the start he made sure our day was wonderful. He tailored the stops we made to what our specific interests were, and even added on additional stops that weren't on our additional agenda. He went as far as taking into consideration the time of day to make sure we had light for photographs considering how early it gets dark that time of the year. Transportation was in a luxury Mercedes van that was very comfortable, but also able to get into small country roads that larger coach buses would never be able to navigate. Christopher was an endless wealth of information at every stop, and was flexible on our timing when lunch took a little longer than expected. Communication was great before the tour, and hotel pickup and drop off (we stayed closed to Paddington) was very smooth. Overall we couldn't have asked for a better experience in the Cotswolds and would highly recommend this tour, and specifically Christopher as a guide to anyone who is considering it.
On a previous trip to the UK, we booked a private car to Stonehenge and Bath so we knew we wanted to do the same for a trip to the Cotswolds. We could not have asked for a better day! Christopher, our guide, was simply spectacular. He communicated with us before the trip, was right on time for our pick up and provided truly excellent service. His knowledge of the area was impressive and he took great care to make sure the day was exactly what we wanted it to be. He was very flexible with our time and offered great suggestions. I asked to extend our time in one of the villages and his response was “absolutely, it’s your day!” I would absolutely recommend booking this experience.

Christopher was a delight! Punctual, helpful, great communicator both before and during the tour. He asked and listened to what we wanted and made sure to make it happen. He absolutely knew the Cotswolds, what was important and interesting, where the best photo ops were, and all the history to go with it. He’s a great storyteller and is so funny and interesting. Loved the itinerary, a mix of the popular and some less visited sites. Even the journeys between sites were really scenic. The guide was one of the best I have experienced, enthusiastic with a lot of local knowledge. This "taster" has made me want to see more of the Cotswolds.
Our day trip from London to the Cotswolds was everything we had hoped for, and we had been looking forward to this for 7 months. Thank you to our wonderful driver and guide, Chris. He took us to the best spots, and was very engaging while also being sensitive to the level of engagement or group would enjoy. It's hard to imagine a better, more personally or more professional driver and guide.
Really enjoyed this tour. The vehicle was very comfortable and the guide knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The tour does visit some of the popular tourist destinations but the type of vehicle meant we could also go to other places that the large coaches would not be able to visit. Places which we would never have thought to go to but enjoyed visiting them, getting to see the beautiful Cotswold countryside as we did so.
A fantastic tour, with a guide who had knowledge and let facilitate how we wanted it. Experiencing the English countryside was both educational and incredibly interesting. Got a stop for a better lunch, which was the best we ate the days we were in England. We had nice days in London but this was the highlight. Highly recommended.
