It is a ALWAYS enjoyable for the history buff when he/she finally gets to see where history was made. This section of rooms is in the neighborhood of Whitehall, Big Ben and the very seat of British government. The rooms are well preserved and give a sense of what it was like for people working in government during the difficult days of the Blitz and beyond. If you have seen televised recreations of some of these moments. such as re-created phone calls with FDR-- then you will like seeing the room with a phone that was used for those calls. . I was struck by the various offices that also included beds. The politics of war never stopped and the need for vigilance never ebbed. I learned more about the uncomfortable aspects of the war, as experienced by Londoners in that era, and the less-pleasant aspects of living basically below ground for periods of time. The exhibit introduces the non-British visitor to more aspects of Churchill's history and details of conversations and relationships with cabinet members during that time. You can stay for 2 hours or 5 hours and barely take it all in. Caution for those who maybe do not walk so well--- there is a lot of standing in front of exhibits. If you have a walker with a seat in it....or a wheelchair...that will keep the experience comfortable. One of the staff members of the War Room offered a wheelchair to one visitor who had come without one...but needed it. P.S History sometimes goes through a revisionist phase, especially after enough time has passed and people have forgotten it. This seems to be true with the recollections of some about Churchill in this era. The War Rooms exhibit should challenge some of the revisionism.

Long description Start your tour with a fascinating walk led by our experienced Guide through the Westminster area to see where Churchill lived as a child before leaving for boarding school (green plaque); where he married Clementine; the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben plus many more sights and statues of this great leader. The finale of this historical journey will be stepping back to the 1940’s with a Private Behind the Glass Tour of Churchill’s War Rooms – let your Expert Guide take you on a journey of discovery in this underground bunker that allowed Britain’s Prime Minister and his government ministers to lead us to victory during the Second World War.

This is the best museum in London, hands down. Beautiful restoration of WW2 bunker and tons of information. Get tickets ahead of time as this will sell out.
Trip Canceled. Airline and hotel reservations were canceled due to virus. Could not receive a refund.
Very intriguing look into an important time in world history. Could easilyb spend most of the day here.
EXCELLENT! A must if you visit London. Even if you think you know a lot about WWII or Churchill, you will discover new amazing things
Loved it. So interesting. It’s a great exhibition. Makes you feel like you are really there. Very interesting insight into his life. The cafe soup in a tin cup is delicious.
Well worth a visit !! Interactive, informative and entertaining. Loved it Churchill has been always fascinated me as he faltered through his early career but he was definitely the man of the hour!
If you enjoyed movies-books roughly based on actual WWII events, or have been interested in WWII history, this is a MUST SEE destination. I am not a big scholar, but I admire Churchill and this tour brought him and the events occurring in London during the war to life. If you're not really interested in WWII or Churchill, its not for you. Do not recommend for kids under 16 years of age. Allow time - at least 1.5-2.0 hours, to immerse yourself in this very unique and rarely preserved site. Well-narrated self-guided audio tour.
This venue needs to be explored on multiple visits. So much to see about Churchill’s life and career. We reached overload about two hours in. Great if you want to just see the place itself and get an idea of what went on there during WWII.
There is so much here to see and learn about regarding Churchill himself and also the British government functioning during WWII. Definitely a must for anyone interested in WWII. I would recommend at least 3 hours as there are so many exhibits, displays, and information here.
An excellent exhibition on a specific period in time . Set up in the very bunker where history was made during WWII. Centered on the gigantic persona of Winston Churchill the exhibition in one part brings to life the life in the bunker where hundreds of people spent days and nights bent on saving the country from enemy subjugation. At the same time one gets acquainted with the man himself and the project he undertook when accepting the Premiership in those most dangerous times. Reading Anthony McCarten’s book “Darkest Hour” before visiting or seeing the film will definitely pave the way to heighten the experience but is not necessary.
This is an audio guided walking tour through the actual Churchill war rooms. If you are a fan of WW 2 history you will enjoy it. It was a little dry for my tastes but still very informative. They have a cool gift shop on the way out.
We were there for over 3 hours but needed longer. It was excellent and I would thoroughly recommend to all.
Wonderful place to visit which had a great vibe and still an amazing presence of the stoical men and women that worked there. Would definitely recommend, cafe was reasonably priced as well.
this attraction is such an amazing experience well worth a visit whilst in London dont miss opportunity to visit the passed
Wonderful museum, tells Churchill's story very well. You get the feel of what it was like during the second world war. The area where you walk through Churchill's life is very well presented. Great museum!
you could spend the whole day there is so mach to read and see... they do not rush you..spend all the time you want...It is one of the BEST things to do in London
An excellent day out. Very informative and good for all ages. Worth booking a ticket beforehand to save the long queue.
Viator, is very happy to sell you tours, but reluctant to fix their errors. They sold me a tour to Churchill War Room. The problem is that the attraction was closed on the day of my ticket. And, when I asked Viator to refund my ticket, they cited it was a "non-refundable ticket" and I would have to contact the tour operator to seek a refund. Save yourself money and hassle - book your tours direct, cut out Viator.
Skip the line tickets were a must! The “museum” was well organized and incredibly informative. Both about the history leading up to the war and Churchill’s staff and the hardships of managing the war from underground. Churchill’s life and history of military service and rise to prominent politician was fascinating and incredibly well presented. The Audio guide was the finishing touch, giving extra interesting detail, but not too much.
For us that actually were born at the time this a high-five for displaying part of contemporary history. Think - it was actually here the war was monitored. also very interesting to be remembered about a historic person - Churchill!
I took my family of 6 to the War Room. Purchasing on Trip advisor is the way to go. We waltzed past at least 100 guests waiting on line! The museum was informative, and we moved easily throughout the passages. It gave my kids a better perspective of the strategic moves Churchill made and the sacrifices his team (secretaries included) made during wartime. I have taken them to Normandy (Trip advisor), Auschwitz (Trip Advisor), The Uprising Museum (Trip Advisor) and now Churchill’s War Room. This visit is priceless. I can’t say they ‘enjoyed’ the experience...but they will certainly remember it.
I tried getting tickets for here on line at Viator, Priceline, etc and they listed it as all sold out. Was in the vicinity and purchased tickets right there with no problem. And I and my party all agreed this was a don't miss place for London. Everything intact like it was in the 1940's. Nice little restaurant that doesn't bang you over the head there too.
Great museum well spaced and good displays of planes and other things. The holocaust display was certainly moving and the model reflects the size and horror of Auschwitz
If your a history buff this is the place to go. Very informative the bunker itself wow glad I wasn’t in the war
This was a great afternoon , finding information about Churchill and his war rooms, the people who worked with him. Exhibits were very interesting, this is well worth a visit.
Was very excited to see the actual Churchill War Rooms after watching movies about Churchill and WW2. Enjoyed the rooms and the audio tour provided. Found the museum jam packed with lots of information about Churchill but thought the layout was a little confusing.
Our guide Jonathan from 360 Amsterdam tours was absolutely fantastic, he was extremely knowledgeable regarding all aspects of the tour and also Amsterdam itself. He was very friendly and professional. My 19 year old son and I would highly recommend.
Rooms are exactly as they were all those years ago, so very atmospheric. Learnt a lot in the Churchill museum I didn’t know previously. Well worth a visit for young and old.
I enjoyed this place. As a person really interested in World War II history, I think we spent 3 hours in here. The gift shop had a ton of interesting books, too! There were lots of people in the museum, but I didn't mind.
This was a fasinating place to visit seeing the actual wartime nerve centre created plus the stand alone Churchill Museum tracking his complete life right through to footage of his state funeral I found extremely poignant. We were in there for over four hours.
My husband and I enjoyed this museum so much. We found it very information and so grateful that much of this history has not been lost. Thank you for all the work it took and we are ever so grateful to the men and women of that time who sacrificed all so we can be free today! It was a wonderful experience.
An amazing feeling to be in the actual war rooms so carefully restored as well as stories and memorabilia from Churchill's life from start to finish. Well worth the time spent!
When we went we allowed 2 hours for our visit. We were there 3 hours and 45 minutes. It was so interesting and the war rooms were just as there were during the war. The cafe was also very very good. My mother has a walker and they are handicapped accessible. It was October but it can get warm down there the guide told us so keep that in mind.
I have a few things to say: Pros: -There’s a ton of stuff to look at. You can easily be in here for several hours. -Plenty of places to sit if you get tired. -There are food shops and restrooms. -You can go at your own pace, but only to a point. It's a little crowded so you'll have to move at the pace of the crowd in some spaces. Cons: -The audio tour doesn’t come with headphones. You need to put the little radio to your head, and it’s annoying because you hear everyone else's audio tour and their talking, and it disrupts your tour. -The halls can get tight, especially when it's crowded, so if you're claustrophobic, I don't recommend it. Overall, I'd say this was a good experience and very interesting. I will add that it puts Churchill in a very positive light, and doesn't discuss any of his flaws. Lots of interactive things, and good for children and grandparents alike. There were a few school tours going on while we went.
Absolutely brilliant experience, one of the great places to visit in London. Informative, interactive & inspirational. Came away with a much better understanding of what went down due this major historic period.
My husband and I spent 3 hours in the museum. It was quite extraordinary and we learned so many new things about Churchill!! It is an absolute must when visiting London!!
Your buy ahead ticket was a good idea. So much history here. the guided tour is a must. Take the tour slow and take it all in
Lots of stuff to see and read well worth the visit to this museum. The map room was my favourite room to visit here at the museum.
very interesting, very educational, great value for money. Excellent and knowledgeable guides. Two hours well spent.
Excellent. I appreciated the audio as I was going through the rooms. I found the commentary to be informative and witty.
The audio tour was excellent. And the Churchill museum portion is a must see. Allow more time for it.
Again, we went right in but there wasn´t a long line. The War Rooms are amazing but lots of info to process! We were there for 3 hours and skipped parts of the museum. A little bit claustrophobic also, but overall, a pretty cool thing to see.
Lovely and informative museum. Terribly loud and rude bald man running the gift shop. Talking about having to go to the toilet and calling his co-worker a "tool". Very obnoxious.
We spent quite a number of hours there, very interesting and well worth a visit. Purchase your tickets online, and you won’t have to join the long queue!
We arrived at 9:30 as the museum was opening..toured for 2 hours in ease. I would highly suggest getting there early for when we departed there was a considerable line to view. Very interesting history and brings to life what the people of London endured and the impact the leaders had in reassuring the country. Must see.
Excellent, well presented, every detail of the war covered. Very atmospheric and very good couple of hours spent
We love history and this was a great place to experience the best in London's past. They did a great job telling the story of WWII and Churchill. The museum walks you through how the people of London came together under an inspired leader. It made us love and appreciate London even more.
Give yourself at least 1-2 hours to visit the actual underground war rooms and the museum. Many interactive displays. The audio headsets (included in the price of admission) make the war rooms come alive.
We had the skip the line tickets which afforded very quick entry to the museum. It is a wonderful exhibit-so real in so many ways. The audio guide was invaluable. Highly recommend this destination as a not to be missed stop on your sights in London.
