Itinerary
See and take pictures of Brixton's local boy David Bowie Mural.
Explore and learn about this multicultural market that was made famous by Eddie Grant's hit single "Electric Avenue". As we explore the markets, you'll be given the opportunity to touch, smell and taste some of the foods, herbs and spices from all corners of the world.
Here we will sample some great street food from one of the best vendors in the area. The herbs and spices used to prepare their meals have been handed down from generation to generation.
This food mecca is a must!!! Within the village lies one of London's best-kept secrets. We will visit and have some light bites at this food establishment that is often frequented by celebrities such as Idris Alba, Stormzy etc.
No food tasting would be complete without authentic homemade treats, desserts and cakes.... So to finish off our tour we will visit 2 of the best bakeries in the area. Here we will sample traditional, freshly made on-site, Caribbean patties (chicken, veg, beef, lamb or fish) and then to a wonderful homemade dessert and cake stall in the heart of the market.

just the thing to do - our best experience in London
This Tour was amazing. I don't want to call it a tour, it was an experience. It was special. How may tours do you walk away with new friends and contact information. Obi is the warmest, authentic Brixtonite! I will see him again!
Great experience with wonderful food and history. A must take tour if you are in London. #1 food tour.
This was a phenomenal tour filled with nonstop bites of goodness. We had something amazing and flavorful to eat at every stop. At the end of the tour after we were all full, we had a full 1000 course sit down meal as a “family.” we made amazing connections with people all over the world. 1000/10. This is a can’t miss if you’re in London.
The tour guide Obie is very knowledgeable about the history of Brixton. I enjoyed him and the tour. The food was delicious.
Obi was amazing and I want to thank him for allowing my brother, Rodney to join us! Folks this is a great tour curated by an official “Brixtoner”, so whether you get him or his associates - you will NOT be disappointed. Come hungry and ready to fellowship. 10/10
We had the absolute best time on this tour! Courtney was a wonderful tour guide and led us through the Brixton Market and Windrush Square. We learned so much about Black British History and about the current interworking of the Brixton neighborhood. I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone who wants to try wonderful African and Caribbean food while hearing about the historical and present context of each!
Obi’s tour was the first stop of my 6-day stay in London and easily the highlight. It set the tone for a more cultured and informed look into the cultural makeup of the African and Caribbean diaspora who call London home, specifically in the Brixton area. From the food to Obi’s stories and the amazing vibes among the tour group, this was a 10/10 and I walked away feeling enlightened with a full stomach! Obi’s tour stands out as the best I’ve ever experienced and I’d recommend it to anyone interested in gaining a deeper understanding of history and connection to the people who make Brixton what it truly is.
Very nice and knowledgeable guide
🔥 BLACK LONDON THROUGH FOOD, CULTURE & HISTORY! 🔥 Obi’s Black London Caribbean and African Food Experience in Brixton was absolutely DOPE! From walking down Electric Avenue—the iconic street made famous by Eddy Grant’s song—to exploring colorful markets filled with fresh fruit, vegetables, fish, meats, herbs, and spices, every moment was a whole vibe! What made this tour truly special was Obi. He shared the rich history of Brixton, his childhood memories, and his father’s journey to London. He didn’t just show us the neighborhood—he made its history, culture, and people come alive. The food was amazing, but Obi’s warmth and hospitality made the experience unforgettable. He welcomed us like family, and I even made some wonderful new friends along the way! If you’re visiting London and want an authentic experience filled with delicious food, Black history, Caribbean and African culture, laughter, and love, book Obi’s tour! Come hungry—and leave with a full stomach, a full heart, and a deeper appreciation for Brixton
The Brixton Market Tour with African and Caribbean Cuisine was absolutely amazing! We had the pleasure of having Courtney as our guide, and he truly did not miss a beat. Courtney went above and beyond to educate us on the deep connection between African, Caribbean, and Black culture and London, including the significant contributions and influence of African people, Caribbean people, and Black communities in the development of London and Europe as a whole. He shared so much knowledge about food, cuisine, culture, history, politics, and the experiences of African and Caribbean communities in London. As a Caribbean woman myself, I found the experience particularly eye-opening and meaningful. There was something incredibly special about learning history through food, through the local vendors, and through the stories and presence of African people, Caribbean people, and Black communities throughout London. Courtney’s relationships with the vendors along the tour added another layer of authenticity and made the experience feel personal rather than simply informational. What I loved most was the way Courtney blended culture, cuisine, history, and hospitality so naturally. His positive energy was contagious and played a huge role in keeping the group engaged, organized, and connected throughout the tour. He was also incredibly thoughtful and accommodating to everyone’s needs. We had someone in our group who walked more slowly and used a cane, and Courtney made sure they were comfortable and never felt rushed or left behind. He was equally respectful and attentive to the elders in our group while still making sure everyone felt included. This was so much more than a food tour. It was an opportunity to eat, learn, connect, and better understand the history and contributions of African people, Caribbean people, and Black communities in London through the people, food, and places that continue to shape the culture today. Courtney was an exceptional guide, and his knowledge, energy, hospitality, and genuine care for the group made this an unforgettable experience. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone looking for a meaningful way to experience Brixton, African and Caribbean culture, and London through food and history. ❤️🌍🍴
Fantastic tour! Obi is a Brixton native and is a fount of fascinating information. At the end of the tour I learned things that I never knew and had a literal taste of the local culture (including the BEST Jamaican beef patty of my life!). Obi was gracious and engaging. I couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Highly recommend this tour.
Wonderful atmosphere on a small group Tour and definitely add this to your itinerary if you have time. Courtney was great guide filled with high energy and finished the tour with a bit of history. Food was great and two food spots were very good (Soup + Beef Patty). Not too long and great value for the price.
This was amazing. Obi was injured so couldn't lead, but he met up with our group at 3 stops. Courtney filled in as our guide and was fantastic. Funny, engaging, personable, knowledgeable. The food was great. We stopped at multiple shops for Jamaican Patties ( spicy and a favorite), oxtail, chili chicken, Jamaican snack food, Nigerian Jollof rice( my fave), fried plantains(so good)and puff puffs, and a variety of incredible fruits as we wandered the market, learned the history of the Windrush generation/ immigration, the food, the market, neighborhood area, and famous residents. We ended at a restaurant in the arcade for jerk chicken, plantains, rice and chickpeas with fun local drinks (I had sorrel). We were a small group with a variety of solo travelers, but had so much fun, we stayed and visited with Courtney and each other at the restaurant 30 minutes after the tour was done. I learned a lot, had delicious food and had a blast in an area most tourists don't get to. I was the only white girl and traveling solo, but was welcomed eagerly. I can't recomendé this tour enough. Next trip I want to take Obi's historical tour of London from the black immigrant perspective. I'll do this food tour again, too.
Courtney is an enthusiastic & friendly guide who included everyone in the group & worked hard to ensure we enjoyed the experience. Without giving too much away we did about 7 stops around Brixton Market to try different produce & dishes from Africa & The West Indies. We particularly noticed how flavoursome the fruits were in comparison with our sometimes bland supermarket produce & we loved the patties from Healthy Eaters. The meal we had at The Ritzy was delicious & plentiful. We weren’t rushed at The Ritzy as we enjoyed the many tasty dishes which were beautifully presented & we were given an explanation of the ingredients etc. If you are looking for an introduction to Brixton this tour is a great place to start.
Obi you made the time so informative and fun for everyone. An outstanding tour for locals and tourists. Highly recommended to everyone.
This was the highlight of our trip to London! I highly recommend this experience for a little history with amazing food! Obi was an exemplary guide!
This was the best part of our trip—we learned about the history of black London and how the history of Brixton resembles Harlem’s. Our tour guide, Obi, was an amazing, engaging, charismatic host with a great sense of humor. You could tell he loves his city and shared so much of his knowledge and personal experiences with us. Go on an empty stomach because there is LOTS of delicious food to eat—including the best beef patty I’ve had in my life (and I’ve had quite a few!).
Second time taking this tour! Since the Brixton area is every changing we were able to get new insight on its current state and the need to keep telling the oral history. This is one of our "must do" experiences when bringing someone to London for the first time. Obi is a wonderful tour guide and gives you insight on Brixton and the London experience from the African and Caribbean perspective. Add it to your list when in London.
This was an amazing experience. Courtney was our guide and he was very knowledgeable, passionate and caring. The tour ran smoothly and each stop had some of the most delicious Caribbean and African in Brixton. Each of us on the tour felt taken care of and we even created a bond within the group. 10/10
I was looking forward to exploring a new-to-me neighborhood in London and trying different foods, and I got much much more! Not only did I try some incredible, flavorful food, but I also met great people, and learned a great deal of Black London history that I did not know before. Obi is a truly exceptional tour leader. He makes the effort to engage participants while taking us to Black owned businesses in Brixton, which is quickly becoming gentrified. It was great learning about which businesses are still locally owned and trying their foods. The flavors were phenomenal! When I head back home to The Bay Area, I need to find authentic places that make Jamaican patties and Nigerian Jollof rice! Those two foods were my favorite. The tour ends with a family style meal while sharing stories. Thank you to Obi for a wonderful afternoon in Brixton!
What a phenomenal experience and history lesson on the people and area of Brixton. Obi our tour guide was such a humble, energetic wealth of knowledge- he made sure to know everyone’s name and gave us each a thank you card. I highly recommend this tour, it was one of our best and delicious experiences in London!!
I came to London as a first-time visitor from Atlanta, Georgia, and I can say without hesitation that the African & Caribbean Food Tour with Obi and Gorgeous Tours was the single most meaningful experience of my entire trip. Let me be specific, because this tour deserves more than "great guide, great food." The History is Real. Obi doesn't read from a script. He lives this history. Walking through the streets of Brixton, standing in front of murals that speak to resistance and resilience, hearing the stories told by someone whose family was shaped by those same streets, this is not a tourist production; it is truth-telling at its finest. The graffiti, the art, the architecture, Obi made every wall a classroom and every corner a conversation. The Food is Serious. Come hungry. I cannot stress this enough. We moved through Brixton Village and the market, tasting African and Caribbean dishes that were fresh, layered with flavor, and introduced by Obi with the full context of where they come from and why they matter. Jerk, jollof, patties, plantains, each stop was a revelation. By the time we sat down for our full meal (yes, there is a full sit-down meal, under a Jamaican flag, surrounded by community), I had laughed, eaten, and learned more than I expected in three hours. The Community is the Point. What makes this tour extraordinary is that Obi actively uplifts the Black-owned businesses, vendors, and entrepreneurs in his community. Every stop was intentional; he introduced us to the people behind the food, the artists behind the murals, the shop owners holding cultural ground in a rapidly changing neighborhood. As someone who works in equity and organizational development, I recognized immediately what Obi is building: a sustainable ecosystem of visibility and economic dignity for his people. Booking this tour is an act of direct investment in that ecosystem. The Man Himself. Obi is funny, brilliant, passionate, and genuinely caring. He made every single person in our group feel seen and welcomed. By the end of three hours, we felt like family, taking selfies, exchanging laughs, not wanting it to end. If you are visiting London and you care about culture, food, history, and experiencing a city through the eyes of people who actually built it, stop reading this review and go book Gorgeous Tours right now. This is the real London. And Obi is the real thing. Krischanna, Atlanta, Georgia 🇺🇸 First-time London visitor | May 2026
For my first trip to London, it was important for me to immerse myself into the community that mirrors my own, not just to visit, but to connect with it. I found Obi on my Instagram feed and knew immediately that I would participate in his Brixton Market Tour. I was excited about the opportunity to learn about my African & Caribbean family overseas and left with both my appetite satisfied and my spirit filled. Obi is an amazing historian and story teller, not just reciting facts but telling life experiences, sharing living stories that are still being written. His care for his history, the history of Brixton and the citizens who have made it the community it is are made clear as he combines highlighting amazing cuisine with the amazing people behind it. Obi also has the ability to take the 12 strangers in his group and turn them into a family within hours, which is where his magic really shines. I highly recommend everyone who visits London to make sure that his tours are part of your itinerary. I'm definitely going to do his other tours when I return to the UK.
Brixton Market Tour with African and Caribbean cuisine was one of the absolute highlights of our trip. My parents and I enjoyed every moment not only because the food was incredible, but because the entire experience felt so authentic and personal. Obi’s deep connection to the neighborhood brought Brixton’s history and culture to life in such a meaningful way. It was immediately clear that he is a true local, and what made the experience especially memorable was how genuinely passionate he is about sharing it with others. His love for Brixton, its people, and its history came through in every story he told. Nothing felt rehearsed or scripted. Instead, it felt like exploring the neighborhood with a friend who truly cares about the community and wants you to experience it beyond the surface. Each stop introduced us to amazing flavors and local favorites while also giving us insight into the traditions and communities that have shaped Brixton over the years. Obi created such a warm and welcoming atmosphere that the entire tour felt incredibly special and immersive. We left full, inspired, and with a much deeper appreciation for Brixton’s vibrant cultural identity. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an unforgettable, heartfelt, and truly authentic experience in London!
This tour was amazing and you will not regret booking it. Obie was an amazing tour guide. He was so informative, extremely organized and his tour was well planned and well thought out. He is excellent at what he does. The food was delicious! If you have food, allergies, or food restrictions, such as vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, etc. make sure to let him know in advance by messaging him after you book. He can accommodate any of your food restrictions or any of your food needs. But you just need to let him know before the tour, so he can make arrangements. We did not realize that we should have notified him in advance, and he was still so gracious and willing to make accommodations for us, even though we told him at the last minute. So definitely give him a heads up. He can make it happen to suit your restrictions. I would recommend this for anyone traveling to London. It was such a great way to see another side of London that is just as amazing and exciting and informative, that you don’t always get to see. I would highly recommend this. I give this tour a rating of 10 out of 10 hands-down. I would recommend this to all of my family and friends.
It was the absolute best tour I've ever had. Obi gave us a history cultural tour along with a hot food tour. It was like being with family. We ate, laughed, and fellowshiped. My son and loved the tour so much, we immediately book another one right afterwards. If you're ever in London, book the tour!! You won't regret it. My only regret is that it didn't last longer. I would definitely pay for a full day tour with Obi.
This was our second time taking the Brixton Market Tour (as it is that rich of an experience). Obi and his team continue to unveil Black excellence, community, culture, and cuisine in a way that wraps you in the warmest Black embrace. We returned on this tour for our birthdays and Obi made it beyond special with cupcakes and candles as we welcomed a new year around the sun; which made this second experience and journey that much more community and belonging centered across the diaspora. Shout out to Nat and Courtney as well for their support, storytelling, hospitality, and warmth. 15 out of 10 recommend! #InSolidarity! ✊🏾
I honestly can’t recommend Obi’s African Food Tour enough—it was hands down one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. From start to finish, Obi made everything feel so personal, welcoming, and genuinely special. You can immediately tell how passionate he is, not just about the food, but about sharing the culture and stories behind it. What really stood out was how amazing and personable Obi is. He connects with everyone so effortlessly, making you feel less like a customer and more like a guest he’s excited to host. He took the time to explain each dish, answer questions, and make sure everyone was comfortable and enjoying themselves. The food was incredible—every stop felt thoughtfully chosen and full of flavor—but it was Obi’s energy and warmth that truly made the experience unforgettable. If you’re looking for something unique, meaningful, and absolutely delicious, this tour is a must. I’d do it again in a heartbeat
I had an amazing time! Obi's personality shines as bright as the sun, and for that alone - the tour was worth it. The food, from the juiciest fruits, the tastiest soups, and spiced just right patties -was nothing short of amazing. It's definitely something you need to put on your London "must do" list. And, I found out at the end that each tour is different, so it's something I will do again when I return. And, of course, the Brixton history was enlightening. 10/10
I had THE ABSOLUTE BEST TIME on this tour. I didn't know what to expect and was completely blown away. I I is so knowledgeable and the food was amazing. Don't miss out on this tour!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An unforgettable experience! The food was incredible (especially the beef patties 🔥,) the stories behind each stop were rich with history, and our guide made the culture come alive. I left full, inspired, and more connected to the place than ever. Highly recommend!
Obi is a London treasure. We took his Brixton food tour one afternoon in early February 2026. The breadth and depth of his knowledge of the history and food culture of Brixton is absolutely dazzling. The food he introduced us to was fresh and so delicious--- he not only knows the ingredients that goes into everything, but he has personal relationships with all the people that made the dishes. We met them too! He also made each of us feel so welcomed and attentive to our specific needs. He is very organized, generous, conscientious, warm, and very entertaining!
This is an amazing food tour that I would recommend to anyone who loves food and history. Obi was an interesting and fun guide who took us to many great food places and told us all about the history of Brixton. There was a great selection of food and loads of it, you definitely won’t leave hungry. This is definitely a trip you don’t want to miss.
My boyfriend (now Fiancé) found Obi's tour on TikTok as we were looking for things to do for our trip. Obi's tour was the best 3 hours we had that day. His knowledge of the city and great food made this a must for anyone coming to London wanting to experience something that's not on a tourist route. Our group of people was great, from different places in London via US and vice versa. We went on the Europe trip for my birthday and Obi put a candle in the Rum cake for me and another guest and we sang happy birthday. From Healthy Eats to the family style lunch at the end, Obi makes you feel like you've known him for years. We are getting married April 2027 and will be coming back for this tour as a part of your honeymoon. Thank you for all that you do Obi! See you next year!
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this tour. The location was excellent…interesting and historically relevant. Obi was extremely communicative, knowledgeable, passionate, and well organized. This was our favorite tour from our month in London.
Obi’s Brixton history and food tour are a must when visiting London! It was so great sharing this experience with the others that attended! Brixton’s culture and community was so fascinating to learn about.
Obi was a great tour guide. He was punctual, passionate, and a great teacher. I will always remember this experience.
One of my favorite and most unique tours yet! I could truly see from Obi's knowledge, enthusiasm and personal touches that he is very passionate about his childhood neighborhood of Brixton, its history, culture, food scene and how it's evolved through gentrification over the years. Obi is a great storyteller and we had tons of delicious bites. Trust me, you won't go home hungry after this tour! I highly recommend this tour to any, local or tourist in search of a unique, enlightening and flavorful experience!
A one of a kind, must do, food and history tour in Brixton. Obi is the perfect person to lead this tour. He knows so much about the history of the food and the area first hand. One of the best tours we experienced during our two week visit of London. Highly recommend
Obi is a phenomenal person and guide. He is charismatic, knowledgeable and inviting. If anyone else would have been the guide, it would have been a lesser experience. By the end of the tour today, my mind, heart and stomach were full. I felt like I was meeting a long lost family member, who introduced me to more family members! Obi's tour is a must for those who want to not only eat amazing, authentic food, but who want to be connected to the culture and history behind it. I can't wait for the next tour together! 10/10
Of all the touring we did on our first trip to London, the one we find ourselves talking about the most is Obi’s African and Caribbean Food Tour. Mainly because of what we learned and experienced that was much more than any other excursion. Obi’s tour began with his personal history of growing up in Brixton in combination with the political and pop history of the time, which provided a vivid, tangible context. While guiding us through the vibrant mural alleys and art-filled bizarre, he introduced us to unique, one of a kind boutiques that left us feeling privileged to bear witness of their existence. We made it a point to return after the tour to further explore and bring home items that could only have come from there. Of course this was a food tour, but calling it that is an understatement, it was an experience. Obi produced fresh dishes which were the most flavorful and lingering of anywhere we ate on our trip. For each generously portioned sampling, Obi told of its cultural background and the reasoning for the ingredients used in them. It’s a mistake we never thought much about food tours. Obi’s tour proved it is the easiest, most interesting, and informative way to learn about a culture. Obi was personable, accommodating, and inclusive to the varied participants in his intimately sized group. This tour is a must for any foodie and/or cultural inquirer.
This was the best tour I’ve ever been on! Go hungry, the food was incredible, and I left with a much deeper appreciation of Brixton’s history. Obi was hilarious; honestly, he could be a comedian! Fantastic job, Obi!
Obi was so warm and welcoming! He is a wealth of knowledge on all things Brixton and provides so much history about his neighborhood. The way he uplifts the small black owned businesses and supports his community is inspiring! I will definitely be back next time I’m in London, until then I’ll be dreaming about the jollof rice and red pea soup. This tour is an 11/10!
We had an amazing time with Obi at this food tour. We ate well, heard background stories to connect with the place and culture and made new friends. Highly recommend this tour, your taste buds will party! An absolute must-do when you're in London!
CHOOSE THIS TOUR!!!! Obi is the BEST!! He was knowledgeable, friendly and charismatic. His personal insight into the history of Brixton made the experience so much more personal and engaging than normal tours. He picked the perfect spots to taste foods - all of which were delicious! And the final feast was AMAZING!! I couldn’t have asked for more… and not just because my belly was full ;-)
Obi's Brixton Market Tour is absolutely worth it! The tour begins with a fascinating walk through the market, with lots of interesting explanations and delicious samples. We tried various exotic fruits, Jamaican soup, Nigerian pastries, spicy rice, and much more. During the tour, Obi told us a lot about the history of the neighborhood, along with his equally exciting family story. His father emigrated to England from Nigeria, his mother from Jamaica. Obi himself was born in Brixton, grew up here, and experienced the changes of the past decades firsthand. The combination of history and food was simply fantastic; I haven't experienced anything like it on any other tour. Following the tour, we enjoyed a full meal at a Jamaican restaurant, where our group of five shared various dishes, allowing us to try a wide variety of dishes. Overall, highly recommended!
Obi was in a word… fantastic!! His deep passion and sharp knowledge for his hometown of Brixton made the experience even more heartfelt and special. This was a great escape combining history, culture, and great foods. Obi made his guests feel like family. And he is clearly respected in his community. Come with an empty stomach as there is much to eat. My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Already planning to do this again on my next visit and with friends. Very highly recommended!
Absolutely excellent!! We have sung Obi's praises since returning to the States. He was engaging, funny, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and a delight!.
