A flawless tour from start to finish. We really appreciated Andy's focus on Egyptian artefacts and the pleasing detour through the Lycian gallery! It's wonderful to have been with a guide who cares so much about the history and museum that they're escorting us through. Book Andy!

Itinerary
Begin beneath Foster + Partners’ spectacular Great Court roof and discover the historic Reading Room, conceived by Antonio Panizzi and designed by Sydney Smirke. Encounter a mysterious mermaid, a Tudor heart pendant and the magnificent Waddesdon Bequest before exploring ancient Greek and Lycian treasures. Discover the Rosetta Stone and Egyptian sculpture, the monumental Rapa Nui statue from Easter Island, and stories of colonial India. Continue through the Egyptian mummy galleries, the glittering Oxus Treasure and the Thruxton mosaic depicting Bacchus. Explore the remarkable Sutton Hoo discoveries and meet the characterful Lewis Chessmen before finishing at the Parthenon Sculptures. Throughout, your historian connects the objects to the people who made, used and collected them, exploring how they reached London and the questions their ownership raises today. The route may vary according to gallery access and object availability.

We had a great time at the British Museum with Matilda. She made it fun and interesting for our two kids (they wanted to go again!) while also making it engaging for us adults. We saw the big items, but she also gave us the history behind many smaller pieces that we might not have noticed on our own. Also really appreciated her thoughts on the ethics are antiquities and sharing where things currently stand in this space.
Described by fellow guides as the best historian in London — and they were right. His knowledge runs deep and his storytelling brings history vividly to life. He intuitively met me where I was on my own journey with history, making the experience both personal and profound. I can’t wait to join every tour he offers!
Andy & Sheldon share history in a really fun way. I felt that whenever they could, they would connect to how it impacts things we do or believe in present day which was great. They’ve also got a great sense of humour between the two of them the group has blast chuckling away but learning lots at the same time. To wrap up we went out for a quick drink at a local pub which was the perfect end to the day. It’s a great day out with friends, family or solo !
Andy and Sheldon did a great job on the tour walking us through history in the galleries we visited at the British Museum. The duo are knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and it was great to be in the presence of their passion for the subject. This was my second tour with Andy and this time was just as good as the first, learning something new each time from both guides. Looking forward to the next one!
We took a tour of the British Museum. It's a place I have often been but our guides really made it fresh again. They gave context and made connections that brought the exhibits to life. Eye-opening and funny too! I'd recommend it to anyone.
A trip to the British Museum was brought to life today by the How to do History boys, adding colour to the many incredible artefacts within. The duo’s knowledge was astounding and only surpassed by their enthusiasm for their subjects. Simply excellent!
We did the British Museum tour, it had some excellent highlights as well as some gems we’d never have found on our own. It was a great tour with a great guide, Sheldon is highly recommended
