British Museum Highlights Private Guided Tour

Danny, our guide, was highly informative and affable. He encouraged questions, adjusted our visit to match what we were curious about, and went out of his way to point out aspects of the building in addition to the highlights of the museum’s various exhibits. In addition, Danny’s passion for history and deep knowledge of both England’s stories and the layout of the museum meant that he took us to exhibits in the museum and told us stories that we never would have found on our own. Danny was incredibly generous with his time. We left the British Museum having learned so much and feeling that our visit was as much of a treasure as the exhibits Danny showed us. Well worth it!

We only had a short bit of time and this was worth the cost. The guide was fantastic, he provided amazing information, he got us to all of the really great places in the BM; amazing tour!?!?

Very fast overview of the British Museum, but highly informative. Jack was super knowledgeable and excited about the exhibits. Highly recommend especially if you’re time limited.

The British Museum is so so dense. I mean, where else can you see the Elgin Marbles, mummies and the Rosetta stone? Jack at Bespoke Britain curated the private tour for myself, my husband and my 14 year old daughter. It was the best day we had in London (aside from theater). Hey was enthusiastic, engaging, and dedicated to what we wanted to see. If I had tackled this on my own, we never would have left with the depth of appreciation that Jack provided. Do yourself a favor and just book this, or any other tour with his company. They are excellent!

Jack was fantastic! Only regret is not booking a longer tour so Jack could share even more knowledge. We were able to share what we absolutely wanted to see before the tour so Jack could tailor the tour to make sure we hit the highlights and more. We highly recommend the tour to everyone. The museum is huge and having a guide was extremely helpful!

Jack was spectacular. Literally the most knowledgeable tour guide I have travelled with. I’m a history major and wanted an in-depth experience for me and my boys. He was full of history and also patience for 2 young boys. We did Westminster, food tour of a market, Churchill war rooms and british museum with him. Here is my advice: contact Jack when booking your trip immediately and have him be with you every single day for whatever tours he offers in and out of London. I wish there were 10 stars to give him instead of just 5.

Wow, wow, wow…… a tour of the British museum with Jack was absolutely outstanding. Let’s get it right most things in museums are from a by-gone era a long long time ago, but with Jack it’s as almost has if he was able to bring everything back to life. Jon was an amazing tour guide and he fully understood our preference for a "highlights" tour of this massive museum. He knows the museum layout very well, and we were able to see many remarkable exhibits during our tour. He asked, in advance, what we wanted to focus on, and he took it from there. We very much enjoyed his narration and his extensive knowledge of the museum's holdings and the history of the pieces we viewed. What a pleasure to have such an informed and expert guide for our visit! We recommend asking for Jon - he is a joy to spend time with.

Larry guided us through the museum to the most unique and popular exhibits. Seeing mummies, the Holy Thorn reliquary, and the bog man! We saw more in the 1-1/2 hour tour than we would have done on our own in a whole day!

Our guide was able to explain the antiquities in a way that helped us tie them to modern events. She was also very personable and down-to-earth. She made us want to learn more.

Jack, our personal guide, was friendly and enthusiastic. He is very knowledgeable about many things of an archaeological nature. He was also very excited to show/share many of the highlights of the British Museum. The one-and-a-half hour tour passed very quickly. We should have taken the longer tour as we only scratched the surface. A very good tour with a great guide!!!

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour with Jack! He is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and showed us the highlights of the museum while also covering more of Egypt and Greece, which we had requested. Jack really knows the museum and it’s shortcuts, secret passageways, and was able to guide us from one location to the next, enabling us to visit more artifacts and learn more about their historical significance. This was also helpful as an introduction to the museum and to orient ourselves to later explore the museum on our own.

The tour Guide Jack who was most knowledgeable and passionate and obviously loves his archaeology. The whole team was very impressed and enjoyed it we wished we got there earlier as we were running late.

Jack provided an excellent overview of the British Museum, expertly guiding us through the “popular” spots (i.e. Rosetta stone, mummies, and Elgin’s Marbles), and highlighting the fascinating contexts surrounding each item. What was even more interesting, however, were the lesser-known galleries, where his seemingly endless well of facts and anecdotes kept us engaged - and this was no small task, given that our group ranged in age from 10 to 40! Highly recommend Jack and Bespoke Britain!

This tour was so fun and educational! I would recommend it to anyone that wants to maximize their experience at the British Museum. Jack (our guide) shepherded us through the crowds so that we had the opportunity to see more, without the stress of competing with hundreds of other people. Jack's enthusiasm and knowledge really made it fun. It was GREAT!

Excellent tour by our guide Matilda. Seemingly everyday articles were brought to life by our knowledgable guide. Suggest you make note if there is anything you particularly want to see. We did the 2.5 hour tour and we barely touched the surface Would highly recommend You will sleep well that night !!

I have visited the museum before, but I’ve found in my travels that a docent lead tour is worth the money. I was shown interesting exhibits and given in depth explanations beyond my expectations. It was great!

We had the most wonderful tour of British Museum Highlights with Jack and it was certainly the highlight of our trip to London. I have been to the museum many times before but this was extra special. Jack brought us to see exhibits we would have missed left to our own devices and brought history alive with interesting facts and additional historical background. Without a doubt we will be back to Jack for another tour.

Jack was our personal guide, and he was amazing. He was passionate and very knowledgable about the history of the items that he took us to see. In the 2.5 hours that we had with him, he selected items that matched our interest, and saved us from being overwhelmed by the huge numbers of items in the museum. We were delighted to be able to see the Rosetta Stone, for which Jack organised entry for us to the special exhibition. He made sure to include my 13 year old grandson in all of his conversations, and ensured that he answered all of his questions and followed up on his interests. It was a fabulous experience for us both.

Loved this tour! Our guide was professional, knowledgeable j all the exhibits and entertaining as well. He wisked us through the crowds to the museum highlights, which saved us tons of time if we had instead tried to do this on our own. He asked if we had any specific interests and made sure the tour covered those areas as well. Could not have asked for more. Highly recommended.

Our tour guide was extremely knowledgable - it was a great tour. Highly recommend it! You start in the room of enlightment and the information is extremely relevant to the rest of the key highlights.

Our tour guide Jack was fantastic. His knowledge was impressive and he was very accommodating. The antiquities are extensive and include some of the greatest archeological finds in the world (sadly a lot of stolen national treasures as well).

This was a great intro to the museum for kids who do not like museums. It kept their attention and they absolutely loved it. The knowledge was deep enough to provide nuance and contextual history and perspective museum for lovers as well. Would highly recommend!!

I would say it is a must see for anybody who comes to England. I don’t know what else to say? I don’t know what else you want me to say.
