Relaxed Elegance at The Peninsula London In our quest to visit London’s top five-star hotels, my friend and I dropped into The Peninsula London for tea and cake. Arriving past the stone guardian lions at the entrance set an auspicious tone—in Chinese tradition, they ward off negative energy and bring good fortune. The Lobby sits right on the ground floor. While high-end hotel lobbies can sometimes feel stiff or intimidating, this space was surprisingly relaxed. The plush leather seating made it easy to unwind, and the gentle buzz of the hotel complemented the elegance rather than detracting from it. The tea service was classic luxury, served in heavy silver teapots with matching silver strainers, milk jugs, and fine china. The cakes were exceptional: I had the chocolate and hazelnut cake, which was rich yet remarkably light, while my friend thoroughly enjoyed the vanilla cheesecake topped with seasonal berries. The staff were attentive when needed, but refreshingly, they left us completely in peace to catch up over refills of tea for a couple of hours without hovering or rushing us out. Some luxury five-star hotels can feel slightly intimidating, but The Peninsula was not at all. We were so pleasantly surprised by how warm, welcoming, and relaxed the elegance felt from start to finish. Definitely somewhere we'll return to try the food or for another catch up.

Without a doubt this is the finest establishment in London. Everything from top to bottom is incredible. I would like to take a special moment to thank Slobodanka for her care and kindness in taking care of us during our stay, and to the chefs who so carefully took the time and attention to tend to our every need, even when completely prompted.

We celebrated our dog Mayfair’s birthday at The Peninsula, and it was such a lovely experience. The drinks were excellent, the atmosphere was elegant and relaxing, and what made it even more special was how pet-friendly they are. The staff brought a comfortable dog bed and fresh water for our little Mayfair, making her feel just as welcome as we were. It’s those thoughtful touches that really make a difference. A special thank you to Liza, who organised our reservation. We’ll definitely be back!

The experience at this hotel is absolutely delightful, and I am overjoyed to be staying here once more. Everything is amazing, and the staff made us feel so welcome.The hospitality has been exceptional, along with everyone’s kindness. They also have amazing room service. The staff are super helpful, very professional, and are precise into ensure everything is comfortable and perfect. A special thank you to Anne, who is incredibly helpful and friendly especially to my younger brother. She always makes sure everything is perfect.
