Sunday Box Hill Burford Bridge Hotel

Stayed here for the weekend bringing my Dad up to see a relative. We both loved the place , big comfortable rooms , lovely setting, lots of comfortable cosy spaces downstairs to sit and hang out and great garden space. The staff were super nice too, I had been a bit dubious when I made the booking that it was online check in, but was totally reassured when we arrived - we were greeted by Sudhir who was extremely welcoming and friendly and very happily sorted out check in without me having to dig around for the check in code , he showed us to our room and gave us some great tips about the local area. The english breakfast was excellent too and again dining room staff really helpful pleasant and efficient . And to be in this lovely old hotel with wide stair cases,lots of space and beautiful outdoor space to sit and be in, in such lovely countryside ; and best of all amazing value the same price if not way cheaper than some of the obvious chains.

GREAT PLACE. The room was beautiful as yoo can see online, and the place was squeaky clean. Literally all the workers went above and beyond to give us the best experience ever. Also very close to plenty of hike trails, just use the AllTrails app and you’d be set.

Booked and paid and subsequently found at a cheaper rate so tried to amend booking. You can’t reach a human at this hotel and it’s frustrating. I spoke with an agent based overseas eventually who canceled the booking and promised a refund. I rebooked at the cheaper rate. Upon arrival I was allocated a road facing room and later discovered the air con wasn’t working so had to have windows open to sleep as it was too warm. The road is so noisy with a motorbike cafe nearby. I was given a fan to help blow hot air around the room. And also had to have kettle replaced. I got very little sleep that night due to the noise and as I was there for a charity hike of 38km the next day that was less than ideal. I decided to skip staying the 2nd night after my hike and just went home as I was exhausted and couldn’t face another crap nights sleep. I’m still waiting for my refund of my original booking - £231 which I’ve chased twice and a response to a complaint regarding my stay sent 2 days ago. They have an alcahol license issue as well so can’t serve any alcahol. This hotel is lacking in some basic fundamentals and I honestly fail to see how it’s achieved a 4 star rating. Watch out

A delightful visit on a Saturday morning to explore this hotel and its Lido. The setting - at the foot of Box Hill - is fantastic. We only had coffee and home made leek and potato soup with bread. A light snack. The soup was delicious - perfectly seasoned. Most impressive are the staff who are friendly, very polite, and immaculate in manner and dress. They treated us as though we were old friends even though this was our first visit. It felt welcoming and radiated olde-world charm. The hotel, now part of an Indian company, Oyo, also has a very reasonably priced Indian restaurant. It has only been opened three months and the menu looks great. For next time. Yes, we shall be back.
