Number Sixteen has been my London home away from home for extended visits over the past two summers. I cannot overstate the level of kindness and hospitality that my family and I received over the course of thirty nights spent in this beautiful South Kensington facility. Even before arrival, the exceptionally detail-oriented Teo reached out to confirm the specifics of my bookings. I had somewhat of a complicated set of reservations that involved moving rooms and the later arrival of family members, and Teo ensured that the logistics were seamless. Everyone at Number Sixteen deserves thanks for their kindness and commitment to service--thank you so much to Francesca, Darlene, Naryan, Anca, Mattias, Rakin, and everyone else at the Orangery, on housekeeping service, and the porters. Coming back to Number Sixteen after a day out in the city feels like coming home to relax and recharge, and I hope to return for many more visits. Nowhere else will you feel so cared for and attended to!

The most beautiful boutique hotel in London - an absolute gem! Hands down the best hotel I've ever stayed at in London. From the gorgeously decorated rooms and communal spaces to the stunning secret garden where you can enjoy a delicious breakfast, right through to the incredibly attentive staff who go out of their way to accommodate every special request - everything about this place is exceptional. I stayed at Number Sixteen as a solo traveller and felt completely at ease and safe for the entire duration of my trip. The location in South Kensington is fantastic, and being just steps from South Kensington Station makes getting around the city effortless. I couldn't recommend this hidden gem enough to anyone looking for an unforgettable, elegant stay in London. I'll definitely be back!
Worth every penny I just can’t wait to come back I leats stay in Firmdale since discovering they are always my favourite hotels! But I think number 16 will be the one I will rush back to the garden is absolutely divine. Like the rest the service is impeccable but this time a special shout out to Theo and Naryan. My bedroom was so pretty number 303! See you Soon!
The Number Sixteen Hotel is located in South Kensington, just a short walk from the Underground. There are many lovely, high-quality shops nearby. Even from the outside, the hotel makes a magnificent, elegant impression. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Inside, as can be seen in the photos, the décor is high-quality and elegant. Colourful and welcoming. The photos give the impression of a size that isn’t actually there. Everything is much smaller. But that’s not a drawback: it’s very cosy and never overcrowded. The toiletries in the rooms are excellent. The breakfast is varied and leaves a positive impression. Unfortunately, I must also voice some criticism, and I am still far from impressed by this, so I probably won’t be returning: I paid just over €500.00 per night, and for that I expect a room as I see it in the photos online. Our room, however, was different. We were put up in the basement. You might as well call it what it is: in the cellar, with little natural light and a humming machine outside the window (air conditioning unit), so that we couldn’t sleep with the window open. Even though everything met our high standards, I still feel, even now when I look back, as though we were shunted into a room that nobody wants. That still casts a shadow over the experience.
Stay at The Kensington, similar taste level, get more for less cost. BEWARE!! Number 16 does not prioritize residents. It is not a relaxing place to stay. It has very small common rooms and garden which are often not available for residents when booked by the public (see event hire policy below). There is no lobby to speak of (standing room only in a small space with lots of shuffling past people who are coming and going). The lounge is used to service the restaurant such that there are waiters running in and out with cups and glasses constantly. BOTTOMLINE: The property is too small for the number of people working, dining, or staying in rooms. It is far too busy for the compact size. Lovely Kit Kemp decor is not enough to overcome this fact. The Kensington Hotel nearby has beautiful and spacious common rooms, offers welcome drink on arrival, a spa, a gym, marble baths, etc. If we could leave now to go there we would, but Number 16 took full payment (plus blocked £50 per day for incidentals) thus we cannot leave without losing £650 per night. PROPERTY FOR HIRE: Number Sixteen has a beautiful tree-filled garden and orangery which are available for private hire. It provides an ideal venue for private and corporate events as well as wedding receptions, meetings and other celebrations. The hotel is also licensed for civil wedding ceremonies.
