Went here half a year ago and its great. The street's peaceful and the food was incredible (love the bread) staff were nice but the hallways are abit... crooked (ups and downs) probably bc its an old building. The rooms were quite spacious and all things seem fine and a nice view to see russel street and that duke statue.

It was fine. Rooms are a decent size, staff and friendly, AC seems to sort of work? (I give it 6.5/10). Quiet location and no noise from other guests or outside. Hand a good night sleep - pillows are especially comfy and the bed was 6/10. Shower was easy to use, and there were 2 plug sockets. Things that could be better: Furniture is a bit "worse for wear" - walls and carpets quite badly marked too. The fascia of the electronic lock to my room was missing, leaving 2 batteries exposed to the outside corridor which was a little concerning. WiFi is painfully slow, Hairdryer which was distinctly "retro". Room smelled a bit foosty and left a bit of a taste in the back of my throat for a short while. Other than that it was fine. Would stay again if I had to.
It is a lovely hotel,in a very good location in London.Very helpful and attentive staff who were very quick at sorting out a few issues with the room ( Kettle not working and a broken tap). The room was spotless and clean. The air conditioning worked really well and kept us cool in the very hot weather. Hotel was in a great location, handy for the British museum and almost all other London touristy places were just a Bus or a Tube ride away. Would definitely go there again.
The rooms are a good size with all the amenities. Toiletries, tea and coffee. Hairdryer and trousers press. Comfy bed with clean bedding. However the rooms are a little tired and need updating. We didn’t eat at the hotel as the breakfast was too expensive. Disappointing that when we checked out we were informed that if we left our luggage at the hotel past 4pm then we would be charged £25 per hour per bag. This is not detailed in the website.
Reading the other reviews I think you have to understand this hotel in terms of budget. I paid approx. £90 for a double room during the week. Given the location, that is exceptional. The room was clean, tidy, comfortable and with a nice bathroom, plenty of toiletries, and a kettle with decent tea and coffee choice. Okay, the coffee wasn't great, but it's 90 quid! I've stayed in places three times this amount and been far more disappointed, trust me! The pillows weren't perfect, the bath had a full length screen that wasn't very pretty and yes, the decor was slightly tired. It's 90 quid!!!! I only wish my wife and I had stayed here instead of Page 8, which cost nearly 300 a night and didn't even have wine glasses!! If you take it as a reasonably priced budget hotel with friendly polite staff, and in a great location, you'll love it.
