Loire Valley Tour Chambord And Chenonceau From Tours Or Amboise

Wow! What an experience. We did four guided tours during our two-week trip to France, and this was my favorite. I especially loved visiting Chenonceau. It is a stunning chateau with the most fascinating history. It was nice to have enough time to really explore the property, both with a guided tour and on our own. We dined at the cafe on site, which was nothing special but fine. And we were lucky to have absolutely gorgeous weather. Chambord was an interesting property to visit - quite a strange chateau and history, but well worth the visit. Dorian was our guide and he was excellent, providing fascinating context about the region and the places we visited. You can tell he loves what he does, and provides a genuine, immersive experience. We had some time to chat with him and he provided helpful insight about French culture and history. I am a wine enthusiast and he had a lot of knowledge about Loire Valley wine, which I appreciated - I really wish we had stayed another day to do a wine tour with him. Overall a really fantastic day that we will remember fondly. I'd definitely recommend this tour to others.

This was a fantastic tour, our guide Manon took us to 2 chateaus and gave a great explanation of the history and what we were seeing. She made it enjoyable and fun!

I thought the chateaux’s were incredible! The weather was beautiful which also helped. It was just the right amount of history for me and I liked that the tour was self guided. So if I wanted to go to a particular area of the chateaux or grounds then I could. If you like a little more history I would recommend buying the audio tour. However keep in mind that you won’t be able to go through the whole audio tour slowly you might have to skip some. Lunch is not included, so it’s best to bring a snack and plenty of water! There are some food stands, a tiny food truck at the first chateaux and some restaurants at the other. But again you’re only spending about 2-3 hours total at each place

Alex was an excellent guide. Very educated and well informed regarding French history and culture. The tour was a great pace and plenty of time to self explore. There were several great places for lunch at Chambord before heading to Chenaceau.

Our tour was fantastic, and our guide, Dorian, was very knowledgeable and approachable! We loved exploring both Chambord and Chenonceau.

Dimitri, our guide, was a consummate professional. He was knowledgeable, but more importantly, smart with balancing time guiding the group, time for us to tour by ourselves, etc. The chateaux were amazing. Lunch was wonderful.

Great guide Dmitry told us about the history of the region and was patient with the many questions we asked. He also gave great personalized recommendations for how to spend time in the area.

It's a lot of walking, but worth it. Both chateaus were amazing! We also learned a lot from Dorien, our tour guide. He was great!

Agate is a delightful person and tour guide. She is very knowledgeable, friendly and pleasant. The chateaus are amazing. Just incredible to go back to the 11th-16th centuries seeing and learning of the changing architectural styles, changing ownership and helping to bring perspective and meaning back to our daily lives and existence.

My family said this was the best tour they have ever been on. Dorian was a fantastic guide and just the right mix of history and fun.

Had a wonderful day visiting Chambord and Chenonceau Chateaus with Camille, our guide from À la Française tour company. Camille is very professional, knowledgeable, warm, friendly and engaging with our group of 8. Lunch at the small chateau operated by the Countess was delicious and a special experience. We couldn’t have a better, more fantastic experience! As a suggestion, book directly with À la Française instead of a third party tour platform for more efficient, direct communication and to allow more of your fees to go directly to the tour provider.

Excellent full day tour of 2 Chateaus, leaving and returning to Amboise. Our guide, Dorian, was very well versed in the history of the Chateaus, and provided great context during the van rides to more information what we would see and hear. A+ thank you!

It was extremely hot out due to la canicule but our guide Dimitri did a great job telling us about the 2 chateaux while keeping us as cool as possible. The pick up and drive was smooth, he handled all the tickets and gave us a reasonable amount of time to see everything. The set up for each spot was Dimitri sharing some history about each Chateau then we had about an hour to wander. It was a really great trip and I'm very glad we got to go and see both of these! It was nice to not drive.

Our guide was very knowledgeable and able to introduce humor when it was appropriate. Her driving was excellent and allowed us plenty of time to explore the chateaux on our own.

We were picked up by Dimitri . He was friendly, funny and very knowledgable. His visual aids were very helpful. The chateaux were both beautiful as were the gardens. There was a great mix of time with the group and free time. Not too much time on the bus.

Demetrie was very knowledgeable and entertaining. He had a great sense of humour, kept to the timetable but allowed a good amount of free time too.

We had the most fabulous tour today with Dimitri as our guide. His knowledge of the chateaus and history of the area was imparted in the most pleasant manner. He is incredibly friendly and accommodating and ensures everyone has the best experience. We loved our day touring the magnificent chateaus and the luncheon was so special. He took time to point out other points of interest along the way and answered all questions. He works hard to make sure each member of the group is involved and as a result the dynamic was great! He’s a careful driver as well. Thank you so much Dimitri! We would highly recommend this very special tour to anyone lucky enough to visit this gorgeous area of France.

It is a long day. The guide gives you a bit of time on your own to wonder around. May have been nice to have a little guidance on where to spend time as one could spend most of the day in one place

We had a wonderful time on this tour. Our guide Camille was bubbly and knowledgable, making us feel right at home. The chateaux were gorgeous and we learned a lot. Something we appreciated about this day trip is that when visiting each chateau, the first half is a guided tour, and the second half you can explore on your own. That felt like the best of both worlds. Our van had 8 total people but was comfortable. We had a blast and would highly recommend this tour to others.

Highly suggested, amazing and fascinating experience!! Our guide Chloe was an endless source of knowledge, plenty of insights on the road (always useful for future trips) and obviously around the castles..just a pity the visits were a bit rushed compared to the amount of things to see and enjoy..overall a 10/10 for me

Our tour was great with knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide, timely departure and return, clean van, clear instructions and recommendations, and a great group of fellow travelers. Chambord and Chenonceau were good choices for only seeing two chateaus. Chenonceau is well kept and furnished, Chambord is more an airy spectacle. This tour allows for about two hours at Chenonceau and one hour at Chambord given the driving distance.

Chloe was an exceptional guide. With a PhD in renaissance architecture specializing in castles of the Loire Valley, her knowledge was vast. She did her best to help us stay comfortable on a very hot day and had great recommendations for other things to do in the area as well.

Chloe is a well-versed interesting tour guide. For those wishing to undertake this tour, I suggest, for the enjoyment of all, that you get back to the van on time after the first Chateaux. On our tour some were very late affecting our time and enjoyment of the second Chateaux.

Lots of uneven walking and stairs. Guide very knowledgeable but difficult to understand. Was conversing a lot in French with one guest ignoring the others Also long breaks seemed unnecessary

This was a great way to make the most of a day in the Loire Valley. Our guide , Chloe, was fun and very informed, ( she is finishing a PHD in art history this summer) . It was seamless and there was no waiting. You visit the most iconic castles hassle free in a small group_ 7 total in our group.
