This is an exceptional wine tasting experience. Michael our guide was great in explaining the region and providing two different wineries. Both are great and the scenery in the area is fantastic. We especially liked how well we got along with Michael. He will go out of his way to accommodate his passengers and is a willing conversationalist at all times. By the way, the wine and food are great. Mike Talluto
KEEP POLITICS OUT OF YOUR TOURS!! I didn't go on this tour to hear the tour guides political views.
Very interesting tour. We spent a lot of time at 2 different wineries and learned a lot. We tasted many different wines that represented the Vipava Valley.
Great wine and great food on the wine tour. Our host was very interesting as were the hosts at each of the two wineries.
I had a wonderful time on this beautiful wine country tour in Slovenia! The scenery was absolutely stunning, the people were warm and welcoming, and the wine samples were fantastic. It was such a lovely way to experience the region, learn about the local wines, and enjoy the company of great people. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Slovenia! 🍷🍇🇸🇮
What a great tour. Both wineries presented beautiful wines and snacks. They gave interesting information about their wines, their processes and the area.
This was our first wine tour and we were not sure what to expect. Being able to go to the home of the small vineyard owners was such an intimate experience- just lovely!
We are a group of 4 ladies and we loved this experience. Our guide, Eugene, was excellent, friendly and informative. The journey was simple. We visited two vineyards, both completely different to the other. At the first we sat out on a terrace with an amazing view over the vines. Four wines, all delivered by a very charming host who gave concise information on each. A short drive to the second host, at an intriguing farmhouse, deep within an old village. Here, we sat under vines, sampled a number of different wines, had delicious home cured meats and cheeses, and listened to our host's fascinating history and stories. It was an extremely enjoyable day. We weren't rushed at all. I would thoroughly recommend to anyone who enjoys wine and everything about it!
It was such a fun experience. The guide says they do a rotation of wineries. We went to one winery in someone's home and another more corporate winery. The wine was delicious and the wine makers were friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. There were yummy snacks with the wine and my tour guide was so much fun.
Picked up on time by our guide, Lan who was very friendly and knowledgeable. He drove us to the two wineries where we were treated to a selection of food and wine with very generous portions. Lan was helpful with breaking the ice of the group and creating a welcoming atmosphere. In particular, Davorin’s winery was one of the best experiences at a wine tasting I’ve experienced. Felt like a really intimate and local experience. Travelled with two friends in a group of three. We were joined by a group of four. Group size was perfect for conversation and the van size.
Both wineries were great and we enjoyed our half day trip. The wine was good and the food was fantastic. Jan, the tour guide was friendly and informative. We very much enjoyed the trip and recommend it!
The best wine tour we’ve been on! And we’ve done quite a few. We were picked up on time by Klem, who was very informative, knowledgeable and friendly on the drive to Lipava valley There was only four of us on the tour, and we all got on great together- even before we started drinking We visited two vineyards, one using modern methods and a traditional one, to make wine The samples were very generous and the snacks that went with the wine pairing were amazing- all local produce! We were made to feel like family at both vineyards Incidentally, the wine we brought home either us I didn’t see in any of the shops in Ljubljana or at the duty free shop at the airport. So if you do want to take a bottle home- grab it while you’re there. No hesitation
Matic was such an amazing guide, he made our trip unforgettable. I would highly recommend him. And also the wine tour was amazing!
The last winery (Cejkotova domacija) of the tour is amazing! The wine maker was so passionate about his vineyards and wines! The appetizers were incredible and with local/sustainable products. However, the tour itself needs some improvements. I guess, this comes mostly from the organizer (the microphone of the guide tour was off and we didn't receive many information about the van that was going to pick us up - so, you had to guess which van was for you). It is very important to bring cash with yourself because at the wineries you just cannot pay by card (unfortunately, this was an information that we didn't receive from the tour agency).
An incredible afternoon visiting two small wineries. The wine was absolutely fantastic and scenery was stunning. It was also very nice to visit smaller producers and get to hear their stories.
This was a really fun trip to two wineries that were very different from each other- one ancient and one modern.
Went to two very casual settings in the vipava valley and had really great wine, snacks and cheese. We bought a bottle each from both. Burja estate and pasji rep were both owned by wonderful people and we had so much fun as the group was great too. It was just 5 people. Our guide Simona was had so many stories to share. Even though it was raining and there was heavy traffic she took us through the scenic route and managed to get everything done in time. Pickup and drop was a breeze. Definitely recommend.
We had a wonderful time on the Vipava Valley Wine Tour. The small group size made the experience feel relaxed, personal, and easy to enjoy. We visited two different wineries, and at both stops it felt less like a standard tasting and more like being welcomed into the homes of the winemakers. The wines we tried were delicious, and we loved getting to see the cellars at each winery. This was such a nice change from visiting larger wineries because the whole experience felt much more intimate and authentic. Our guide, Mike, was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. He kept the tour moving smoothly, made sure we stayed on track, and added great context throughout the day. We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking for a more personal wine experience in Slovenia.
Visited two fantastic and diverse wineries. One very modern and the other very old and traditional. Treated like family at both by amazing hosts. Wines were great and accompanied by a generous selection of home made dried meats, bread, cheeses, olive oil, jam. Definitely recommend this tour.
Absolutely brilliant trip, great company, Mat was an outstanding driver and guide. Simply the best Slovenia experience visiting two amazing wineries. Definitely recommend taking this tour.
This was a lovely half day excursion! Maya was an awesome guide- giving us information on the drive out to the vineyards. The two places we visited had great wine and accompanying appetizers, sharing their love of wine with us. The small group gave us a chance to all visit and get to know each other! Very well run!
The tour was very well organized and the guide made us feel at home. We learned some interesting facts that you would likely not learn in a museum. The wine was excellent and both tours were a great experience. We thoroughly enjoyed the local cheese and meat pairings with the local wine varietals. Highly recommend if you are looking to try some Slovenian wine with excellent company!
The experience was very intimate and it was lovely to connect with the wine producers in their homes and enjoy the fine wines they produce
The tour was fantastic, the host was very kind, gave us a nice presentation of Slovenian wines and wine making history in Slovenia. First we went to Guerila Zmagoslav-Petric winery. Pretty amazing and educational how they craft with their winemaking huge equipment! Second we went to Burja Estate Winery! We tried 4 different of wine and it was really really good! 🍷.. lastly, shout out to our driver and tour guide name Ales!!! Very friendly and guide as whats the best things to do in the country! :)
A great trip! Combination of great tour guide and excellent sense of humor, cool history with 750 year old wine cellars and great wine!
A rainy afternoon spent with our tour guide Alen was wonderful. Alen shared his knowledge about Slovenia and wine during the drive to beautiful Vipava Valley we visited two unique vineyards and met owners/family members learning about their processes and tasted great wine. The entire experience was interesting and so much fun. Alen was a terrific guide and engaged us in the experience in such a pleasant way.
A nice way to get more knowledge about great Slovenian wines and their producers. And on the way get some knowledge from the driver Klemen about Slovenian and the region
Intimate wine tasting experience with local wine makers. We didn’t just taste wine, we were blessed with fresh homemade bread and cinnamon rolls, and freshly cured meats all made by family members. 10/10 experience.
We toured a winery owned by a really cool guy. We had lunch at his harmhouse and the food was delicious. He not only produces his own wine but also his own meat and vegetables. There really is a big difference between home grown tomatoes and the store bought variety.
The two wineries we visited were fantastic, especially the one owned by Davorin. It was a wonderful experience to taste delicious wine in a traditional Slovenian village with homemade fresh cheese, bread and meats. Our tour guide Dave was also great, he had us laughing and joking the whole way!
Really fantastic experience. We visited two vineyards and tasted lots of different wines and food. The views were beautiful and our tour operator was very knowledgeable about the wines and the area so we felt like we were learning a lot.
Great wines. Great local and fresh food. Great hosts and guides. Very glad we did this while in Slovenia.
The wine tour was a fabulous way to spend an afternoon in the Vipava valley. Our tour guide Rocco was very nice, and the hosts at both of the vineries we visited were great, serving a variety of fabulous wines as well as showing us their home and wine cellars. What a great day!
Amazing tour guide Luca, the winery’s were amazing brilliant wines and the foods was amazing (although meat based if you are vegetarian). Beautiful scenery too, I would do this tour again.
Simone was our driver/guide. Traffic was tough getting out of town, but she gave us wonderful history and cultural lesson on the way. We went to two family owned vineyards. It was a marvelous experience! The wine was nice and the cheese, bread and meats were top notch. Beautiful views and friendly folks. A near perfect day. If you want to get away from it all and immerse yourself into the heart of Slovenia, I highly recommend this trip.
A fantastic , informative experience .Our guide Maha was interesting and funny . The drive through to the vineyards just beautiful. We stopped at two vineyards, Wines , which many we tried were delicious , as well local meats and cheese .lovely and relaxed as we sat around on the patio learnt about the wines long history. Our guide never rushed us as we ran well over the allotted times. To do tour group just so friendly .
Majah was our driver, she was very knowledgeable about Slovakian history. We were taken to an amazing vineyard, we were hosted by an amazing owner who was very passionate in everything he does. We later visited another vineyard that was great. I would highly recommend this tour
An excellent half day trip to the Vipava Valley - the local hosts were very welcoming with 4 wines to taste at each of the vineyards plus a selection of meats and cheeses. On our day the traffic was very bad and we were an hour late to the first vineyard. However we were still given the same amount of time at each venue and arrived back to Ljubljana later than planned but was no issue our driver ensured that we were happy with that so we would not miss out on the experience.
This is such a good tour, we really enjoyed it. Our guide Rocco was fun, friendly and knowledgeable. We had a great time with our small group. The vineyards were fantastic, beautiful wine and food, highly recommend!!!
This was hands down one of the best tours and experiences I’ve had in Slovenia (and I’ve done a lot here). Very well curated experience of two quite different wineries - each unique and special in their own way. The food and wine exceeded my expectations and I would do this again in a heart beat. Thank you!
Excellent tour with Rocco! He was a great tour guide, driver, and host with endless energy and enthusiasm about sharing stories about his life, Slovenia, and his knowledge about the country's wine and wine regions. We visited two wineries, one smaller and one larger production, which was a cool balance. Wines and snacks at both were great at both and the expert winemakers gave great overviews about the long history of winemaking in the region and how the industry is evolving and growing. I was alone with two other couples and we all had a great time! It also doesn't hurt that the drive out and landscape is absolutely gorgeous!
Unfortunately our trip was cancelled, twice the first time we received a phone call 36 hours prior to the planned trip, It was politely explained to us that we were the only ones booked on the trip (mid- august) so they wouldn't be able to run the tour. The refund was issued in full immediately. We rebooked on-line for 2 days later. The second trip was cancelled by text 2 hours beforehand with the explanation that the driver was sick. OK fair enough but sadly the second refund took a week, after 2 follow up messages one phone call whilst still in Slovenia & one when I got back home.
WE LOVED THIS TOUR! We had booked an e-bike vineyard experience through Viator that cancelled on us last minute (after booking 5 months in advance) and found this 2 days before we were supposed to tour. And we couldn't have wound up more pleased with the change! We stopped at two wineries. The first winery, Povh Winery, was our favorite. The views from the tasting patio are UNREAL and insanely gorgeous. The owner was so nice and wonderful and we loved his wines! For the last wine, he took us through the village to his cellar to drink the red wine there. The second winery, Burja, was a more modern facility. The owner was also very nice. Not as scenic, but good wine and enjoyed the convo with the owner. We would recommend this tour to anyone!
If tasting local wines and sharing this expirience with friends is your thing than this is something for you. A wine trip in Vipava, Slovenia, is a perfect getaway for wine enthusiasts and friends seeking a memorable experience. Nestled in a picturesque valley, Vipava is renowned for its lush vineyards and centuries-old winemaking traditions. Our journey began with a scenic drive through the rolling hills. Never a dull moment with our driver/guide who knew a lot about Slovenian history, heritage and customes (presented in a funny way). From crisp whites to robust reds, the wines of Vipava tantalized our palates, each variety telling its own unique story. We strolled through slovenian wine making learning about the different grape varieties and the sustainable practices employed by the winemakers. Sharing this experience with friends added an extra layer of joy to the trip. Together, we laughed, learned, and savored the flavors of this enchanting region. Our wine trip to Vipava was not just a tasting tour; it was a celebration of friendship, fine wine, and the beautiful tradition of Slovenian winemaking.
The wine tour was perfect Sunday trip. We saw two wineries, tried some wine samples with local prosciutto and cheeses. We also visited the wine cellar and were introduced to the wine production process. Our guide Rok was full of knowledge. On the way to one of Slovenia's wine-growing regions, he told us about Slovenian culture and tradition. He was very friendly and a pleasure to listen to. Highly recommend if you are a wine lover and would like to know more about Slovenia.
This was one of the highlights of our entire trip! Our guide was amazing and himself was experienced sommelier who had a lot of entertaining and relevant information to share with us about the region and the wines. Pickup was right on time, the van was clean and the combination of an old world and new world winery on the same trip was incredible. I'll never forget standing in the 100s of years old wine cellar, talking with the ACTUAL HEAD WINEMAKER, and sampling wines from the barrel!!
Perfect afternoon. Our guide Rocco was very knowledgeable in introducing the local wines. We visited two wineries and got a fair share of samples local meets pastry and cheeses. Recomended!
There were 2 different wineries, both very interesting. One very modern, the other in a historic village. Both with very good snacks like ham, bread, cheese.
Excellent walk, beautiful landscapes, good food and good drink, I would like to have brought some more bottles of wine home, hehe. Our guide was very nice and helped us with everything we needed.
