Slovenian Culinary Experience In Ljubljana - Small Group - Tour

This was a fantastic food tour in a beautiful city. Polona Tusi was our wonderful, very informative and personable guide. We have been on many food tours all over the world, and this was one of the absolute best. Delicious food choices and really great wines. Do not miss this tour, it is totally worth it!

Good variety of food. Tour was a bit too long for me. 3 hours would be better. Tour was more than 4 hours long. Too full at end of tour.

Great way to explore and learn a bit about some of the history of Ljubljana while getting a taste of different Slovenian foods. Portion sizes were ample and food was tasty. The one thing that caused me to not give this a five star rating was that the guide Jasmina was rushing us at the end as she had a personal dinner engagement so left us at the last venue instead of bringing us back to the original meeting point. So a bit unprofessional at the end

This was a long 4 hour food tour, with 5 food stops all with wine pairings ( an unexpected bonus!) Our guide was very knowledgeable, chatty and fun It was not as foodie as some food tours we have done There was - for us- way too much talk about "introduction to Slovenia" as a country, we had been here a week already. This meant we had well over an hour until our second food stop. But then it picked up!!

We had never left a food tour hungry until today. The five stops featured small bites, and the main course was fried chicken. We had wine at every stop, so it is not ideal if you are not a wine drinker; also, at two stops, there were not enough chairs or place settings. Our guide commented a lot on how large our group of ten was. She was nice, friendly, and knowledgeable; however, I did not hear everything she had to share as we walked and crossed streets. Finally, as the tour came to a close, she went to a restaurant, pointed out food we should try, and described each dish. (And isn't that the point of a food tour, to try food not from home, like fried chicken?) Odd ending indeed.

We have been on many food tours in the past, however this one was far superior. The portion sizes were fantastic And our guide, Anna was very knowledgeable, entertaining and thorough

This was just the best food tour. We loved every moment of it and our tour guide Palona was just fantastic. I have been to Ljubljana before, but I learn so much about the city, the country's food and customs.

We have done a lot of food tours and this was one of the best. The food choices were great and the guide spent a lot of time on history and culture. We would highly recommend this tour! One note for the future - we do recommend that the tour guide not make any political comments as you do not know your audience or their personal beliefs or affiliations.

Palamo was an amazing guide. Not only did she have knowledge about the cuisine we learned so much about the history of the area. Must do activity in Ljubljana

The tour began with a 30 minute “tour” around old town which was repetitious for me as I had already seen the sights that were highlighted. However, others had just arrived that day so maybe they appreciated it. We then walked our way around to five stops, all of which included plentiful food and a glass of wine. The food was good and the guide provided some background and history information. The guide was a substitute for the normal guide who was sick. We were seated at all but one location where several stood around a tall table. There was a good variety of food and type of restaurants. It was worth the price as I tried food and restaurants I may not have tried on my own.

This was not just a tour, it was a full experience! Our host, Ana, was incredible! She not only took us to some great culinary experiences, but also gave a full history of Ljubljana and various important sights. This was a full experience that was the highlight of my visit to Slovenia!

Jasmine was excellent. She shared her knowledge about the history of Ljubljana, wine and fun antidotes. The food and wine were great. Lots of variety. We really enjoyed the pairings and how the food affected the taste of the wine. One of the best tours we have done in our travels.

This was a great tour. Our guide, "Mama Duck", did an excellent job of both sharing some good history of Ljubljana and Slovenia and telling us about the food. The food was all excellent, and not what I expected, which is why I do these tours. This is probably not the best tour for young children as the wine is a significant part of it, but they do offer juice alternatives. I would absolutely do it again.

I loved that all of our food/tour stops were at local establishments. All of the food samplings were quite good and our guide, Jasmina, had wonderful historical knowledge that she shared with our group.

Jasmina the guide was friendly and knowledgeable The 5 wines were all great but I felt the food samples were small. I was particularly surprised with the first dish, fried chicken, which was no different to fast food available anywhere in the world. I expected something a bit more uniquely Slovenian.

This is possibly one of the best food tours I’ve participated in and I have done quite a few. The tour guides knowledge is amazing and delivered in a very light hearted way that made everyone feel really comfortable. I left the tour feeling really fond of Slovenia and wanting to come back.

Had an incredible time with Ana and loved that we got to try local wine with each of the tastings. It was hot, but she was great at finding shade / making sure there was ample water available during our tour. The amount of food was a great value for money and I appreciated the extra recommendations at the end of the tour & was not let down by the gelato :)

It’s a 3-hour walking tour with 5 stops, including typical Slovenian food like sausages and dumplings as well as local eateries that serve fried chicken. At each stop, we had a pretty generous amount of food with a glass of wine. Our guide, Ana, was knowledgeable and approachable. She even gave us tips on where to go shopping, etc. I highly recommend this tour.

Excellent walking food and wine tour of Ljubljana. The guide, Ana, was very knowledgeable about Slovenia and it's history, culture, customs and food. The food and wine were delicious! Ana made the tour interesting but also fun. There were 8 people in the group, which was a nice size, with everyone getting to know each other.

Our guide was passionate about Ljubljana/Slovenia and had great restaurants lined up for us! We went back to one the next day and would’ve gone to others if we were there longer! We felt like she connected with everyone in our group and she was a lot of fun! Her name was Palona (I hope I spelled it correctly!) Amazing - highly recommend for the food and for the tour/history info!

It was mildly enjoyable - good food, but the tour guide was difficult to understand at times, not terribly interesting, and I would have preferred more authentic Slovenian food. Ultimately, new foods and experiences is why I booked the tour. I personally do not think needed to have kielbasa and then spend an hour at a fried chicken spot, something everyone has had before, even if they are technically Slovenian foods.

Our guide Jasmina was very enthusiastic and fun - we had a great experience. She knows a lot of interesting things and loves what she does. It was a journey through traditional Slovenian dishes and the meal sizes were better than expected.

History of Slovenia and Ljubljana along with interesting stories about the food and wine we enjoyed making the tour an exceptional experience. Really good tour guide.

The food on the tour is great with lots of wonderful stops. BUT, the tour guide (Jasmina) needs to realize to interject her politics into the conversations. This is a FOOD tour and not a current discourse on American Politics. Especially when the tour guide asks “You are American, are you sure you don’t want to say that you are Canadian?” Insulting. However, if the tour focused on the Ljubljana history and its food (which was REALLY guide) I’d rate it higher.

My husband and I were guided around Ljubljana by Jasmina. We stopped at 5 various types of establishments for tastes and samples and bites and nibbles, each accompanied by a different Slovenian wine. Along the way, we were treated to a guide of the city pointing out historic buildings, interesting statues and features, explaining life in Ljubljana and the complicated history of Slovenia. An absolutely amazing time that we did not want to end! The time passed way too quickly and despite all the walking, we were very full of delicious food and wine! I highly recommend this tour and Jasmina and will do this again should I ever be so fortunate to once again visit beautiful Ljubljana.
