Itinerary
Small group approach with carefully planned time, where experienced local tour operator’s chauffeur guide will collect you at designated location for an informative hourly ride to Mediterranean coast of Adriatic Sea. We’ll drive through the »green belt« of Slovenian coast, passing Strunjan, a natural habitat of the typical flora and fauna of this region, since 90’s protected as nature reserve. From tops you will have excellent views over greenery and grid of pools used at former salt pans.
This petite Venetian port can hold its own against anyone, including the imperial capital just over the horizon that was responsible for much of its fortune. In fact Piran does have the same kind of open-air museum feel to it as Venice, but only on much smaller scale. In Piran, you will feel as though you have stepped right into a picture postcard. You will be charmed during our walks through narrow winding streets of Piran! At the main square, you will be greeted by the statue of the most famous son of Piran, Giuseppe Tartini, composer and virtuoso violinist;
reaching atop to the dramatically situated Cathedral of St. George, patron of the city. Back on the pier, you might catch fishermen unraveling a fishing nets and counting daily catch. Get to know more about salt – white gold of Piran!
Nearby Portoroz has been a tourist destination as far back as the 13th century, when people were treated with seawater. But it reached it’s »golden age« in August 1910 when majestic Hotel Palace opened its doors. It was a charming pearl of the era. In 1913 Portorož hosted almost 7,000 guests and it started to become internationally renowned. We will provide you with enough time to explore today’s vibe of the Slovenian prime coastal town, Portoroz. After a nice half day experience we will return back to Ljubljana. Drop off will be at same location as pick up.

We were impressed that this company picked us up even though there was only two of us and the minimum should have been four. Our driver and guide was very good at avoiding the congested traffic by taking us on back roads which were very interesting. Piran is a lovely old town and the coastline was beautiful.
This is a great half day tour! Piran is beautiful and loved the free time we had there. It’s also nice to see a different part of Slovenia. Milan shared great info about Slovenia on the drive there. He also offered taking us to a wine tasting at the end, and I strongly suggest this! First off the wine is tasty and the meat board is delicious, but also the views are incredible! It’s a nice way to end the day. I would Strongly recommend doing this tour!
We very fortunately decided to add to our stay in beautiful Ljubljana an excursion to see Slovenia’s short but perfect Adriatic coastline. Piran and Portoroz are both very attractive and offer stunning sea views. Our guide, Milan, was a fountain of knowledge regarding Slovenian history and current affairs. A very interesting and friendly gentleman. Highly recommended.
We ended up in a small van with our very knowledgeable guide Milen (sp) giving us a spectrum of details across a range of topics. The coast was sunny and warm and overlooks Venice and Trieste across the Adriatic 👍
Our guide was very good and very concerned. We learnt also many things from him. We shall recommend this tour to our friends.
Spent about an hour in both Piran and Portoroza. Would have liked longer in Piran to able to climb the city walls but overall there was enough time to get a sense of this unique part of Slovenia. Piran had a number of cafes and restaurants serving freshly caught sardines and mussels. But decided to wait until later in the trip to eat and was disappointed at Portoroza as it is a beach resort selling “beach” fast food. The driver was good in explaining the history of the area.
I really enjoyed this trip although their was a lot of traffic on the motorway that sadly cut our time down in Piran. Piran was lovely but I was constantly clock watching due to an hour to go around. The church and clock tower was magnificant. I also enjoyed Port Rose too.
We wanted to see the Slovenian coast which is why we booked the trip. Piran was lovely and we were given 1 hour 15 mins there. We then travelled to Portoroz and we were given an hour there. Whilst we enjoyed the afternoon, a little more time in Piran and a little less in Portoroz would have been nice. Malan as our driver guide was good and very knowledgeable.
A wonderful trip .Milan was our guide. He was very knowledgeable, polite and gave us great insights into Slovenia and Piran. We had a wonderful time.
Had a great afternoon traveling to Piran. My guide was intelligent and knowledgeable about Slovenia and the world. We stopped at Wine Paradise so I could try a local wine. What a great stop!
This was our favorite day in Slovenia! We had Milan again as our guide, and he once again hit a home run with providing us history and information. We also ran into a lot of traffic close to the border and he was very diligent with finding an alternative route to get us to Piran quicker. We also detoured from Portoroz to a winery which was the best decision, it was an incredible experience with unbeatable views. Highly recommend!
It was a wonderful day enhanced by beautiful scenery, wandering through the historical and picturesque small town of Piran and coffee by the sea at the upmarket Portoroz. However best of all was the in depth knowledge of the culture, history and politics of the region of our driver who went above and beyond to ensure that we had a memorable day.
Milan was our guide, very knowledgeable, personable and friendly. Coast of Slovenia is beautiful. Definitely do wine tasting on way back to Ljubljana in small village up high, with views of Adriatic.
Milan was an extraordinary guide and host! Incredibly knowledgeable, engaging and enthusiastic… he loves his work and loves to share his travels with others. Wonderful afternoon and evening of exploring the Slovenian coast. Enjoyed it thoroughly!!
The tour was great. We loved Piran it is beautiful town. Our tour guide was amazing. Very knowledgeable, friendly and went beyond of what was expected We had a great time and the weather was amazing, it was sunny out and we caught the most beautiful sunset. I definitely recommend it.
The old town in Piran well worth visiting. Very quiet town with a lot of history & great restaurants. Portoroz is far more vibrant & commercialised a town with great beaches
Lovely visit to Piran and the coast of Slovenia which is very different from Ljubljana as it felt more Italian.
Wonderful driver with great information on the history of Slovenia. Turned out it was just my wife and I due to cancellations which was nice. We opted not to take free time in a tourist area, so he took us up to wine country for a tasting. Great fun.
We had a very good guide and he was always ready to explainl every important detail. The walking tour of Piran was interesting. Portoroz is a fantastic sea side resort. Both places were worth a visit.
You can really get a feel for this piece of the Adriatic with even a half day trip from Ljubljana esp if you have a knowledgeable guide.
Guide was pleasant and informative. The weather was so hot but was able to go for a swim in the sea on free time so bring a suit if you can!

Really good trip to Pirin with very informative guide called Milan. Super day rounding off with gelato on the beach. Took his time and care with our differing agility and would definitely recommend this tour from Ljubljana to see the coast and salt flats. Countryside is spectacular and driving climb is reminiscent of Amalfi. Thanks we will be back, great people very genuine.

Simply stunning, what a difference in weather from Ljubljana. Not much in Portoroz except for good Ice cream

Excellent tour and tour guide. Piran was awesome and our friendly tour guide made sure we were comfortable. Excellent tour operator!!

Piran has an impressive coastline and narrow streets with stalls here and there and plenty of cozy eateries, a beautiful square and old towers and castle walls. Portugez has a beautiful sandy beach, many shops and restaurants. The sunset is amazing.
