Itinerary
We begin in Preseren Square, the beating heart of the city. We learn basic history of Ljubljana before we explore the different sights that are located at the square.
We learn about France Preseren, a truly colorful figure whose poetry inspired the nation during the Romantic days of the 19th Century. Find out why he was no Romeo and why we consider him to be our national poet.
Find out about our most famous architect, Jože Plečnik, whose works are considered a UNESCO heritage site, and who is responsible for Ljubljana looking as it does today, and why we have a Triple Bridge in the center
Ljubljana's Colonade is one of Plečnik's most amazing creations. Its an enormous structure that holds many secrets and surprises.
Also known as the love-lock bridge, Ljubljana's most recent bridge is a modern spectacle that does not resemble its original plans. Find out why.
Despite having dragons on it, it wasnt originally called the Dragons Bridge. Find out why.
The best place in town for local produce
It might be small in comparison with the larger cathedrals in neighboring countries, but it does have amazing history and is the pride of Slovenia's Baroque architecture.
The central square of medieval Ljubljana. Its gotta have some amazing stories.
Ljubljana's most famous Baroque artwork stands in Town Square. Does it look familiar?
This architecturally confused building is where city politics have been taking place for over 500 years.
Ljubljana's old Medieval town is one of the sweetest around. Cant miss it. Actually, most of the sites we see on-tour are in the Old Town, so saying its 30 minutes is not quite right.
One of Ljubljana's favorite meeting points, this former Medieval shopping mall has a few stories to tell.
Abound with symbolism and hidden meanings, this is one of Plečnik's most famous creations. It has some amazing stories to share, in fact too many for a single tour
Ljubljana's largest square is also its most political. It is the location of many historical events that shaped Slovenia and Europe as a whole.

Tina brought Slovenia's history, culture, and customs to life with wonderful personal stories. Learning about Slovenian literature and Prešeren's legacy added so much depth, and Tina even managed to completely change my mind about Plečnik’s National Library after I disliked it the first time! Such a worthwhile experience, I paid.
We found this tour online and booked directly with the operator. We assembled by the pink church in Preseren square. It is a large group. The guide is knowledgeable and very friendly. She answered all of our questions and was very helpful with recommendations as well as coupons for additional activities. The walking pace was comfortable and the stop points were very informative. Highly recommend this approach as it allows you to decide the final tip (highly recommended and please tip) based on your perception of value received. There is one stop with tasting.
Tina was absolutely fantastic! She made Ljubljana, its history, architecture, and culture come alive for us. What a treat to have a guide of this caliber and knowledge. We cannot recommend this tour or Tina highly enough!
Lovely 2 hour tour of the old town in Ljubljana. We had already been here for 2 days so had seen a lot of the old town. However, Tina, our guide gave us amazing insights into the history and stories of Ljubljana. She also recommended lots of things to do in the town for the remainder of our trip. Well worth the money.
Thoroughly enjoyable and interesting tour. Doman was a great guide who shared his considerable knowledge of local history and culture in an amusing and relaxed way. Highly recommended (and his grandma can be proud of him🙃).
Lana was a fantastic tour guide through a lovely , walkable old city Ljubljana tour. She did an excellent job bringing the history to life. The lively market and food festival was an added treat.
Good tour with Tina. Saw interesting sites of Old Town Ljubljana and got to taste local liqueur. Was because because of marathon weekend.
It turns out the Viator tour we booked was also the free tour, so there were quite a few people in the tour. Although they split the group into 2, there were still more than 20 in each group. That was disappointing. Nina was a good tour leader, interesting and we could hear her.
Tina provided the perfect intro into a new ( to me ) city. Loads of interesting history and important background on such a unique city (and country) i really felt i learned a ton and she provided tons of great reccommendations beyond the tour. 10/10 would recommend as a tour.
Highly recommended, Helena (hope I remember correct name!) was very knowledgable and lovely. Booking and meeting instructions straightforward.
Our tour was fabulous! It was an excellent opportunity to learn more about the history of the city and its culture. Helena was amazing!
Wonderful tour, lots of history and the guide was funny and very informative
Great tour. Really fun guide.
Guide Tina was fantastic! Knowledgeable, friendly, engaging and approachable. We toured on a very wet day in Ljubljana and Tina found spots for us to stand out of the weather while still being able to see the landmarks she was sharing stories about. She also answered many different questions from the group, which further enriched the tour. It was a tour well worth taking to learn about some of the ancient and more contemporary history of the city as an introduction to visiting before doing my own exploring. These tours are "free" but tips of 10-20 euros are justifiably encouraged and well deserved by the excellent guides. Hvala Tina!
We had such a great time on this walking tour with Domen! He was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely passionate about Ljubljana and Slovenia. He shared so many interesting stories and little details that we would have never discovered on our own. Honestly, one of the best walking tours I’ve ever done. Domen made the whole experience fun, relaxed, and really memorable. Highly recommended if you’re visiting Ljubljana!
So fun great learning experience! Perfect amount of time and saw a lot of sites and lay of the land would do early
Much enjoyed the tour with Vojka today at 3. Easy to hear and informative and fun
Helena was a great guide! Funny and interesting stories! We kept moving but didn’t feel rushed. Highly recommend this tour!
It was a very interesting tour full of information and facts. Tina was very knowledgeable and happy to anwer questions. We thoroughly enjoyed learning all about Ljubljana from her.
Excellent experience and Nina was a fantastic guide. Made us wish we had more time to spend in the city.
Helena was a terrific guide for our tour of Ljubljana- perfect English, smart, funny and a native of Ljubljana. Her 2 hour tour was very informative with everything from history to architecture and food. Well done - very engaging.
Helena was our English guide for the day. She was extremely knowledgeable, and had great stories and insights about Ljubljana and she also had a good sense of humour. The pacing of the tour was excellent. Thanks for a great time!
Lana was fantastic! She has a great sense of humor, very easy to understand, and very informative. She even stayed afterwards for 45 minutes answering my wife and my questions.
Awesome tour to get introduced to Ljubljana before you get to experience the city on your own. Our guide, Helena, was very knowledgeable and entertaining.
Great tour, the tour guide Lucia was amaxing, super professional, loved it!! Sadly didn't give any money cause im living off my mother's salary and granny's pension (otherwise how would i travel if i worked all the time?) So im on a tight budget. But i left the nice reviews, hopefully thats fine:)
Admission isn't free, be prepared to tip your guide if you don't book through viator
Lana our guide was superb, funny, attentive and informative
Helena did a great job of guiding us through the central part of town. Her discussion ranged from coffee, to history, to architecture, to chocolate, to ice cream, and everything in between. She was knowledgeable and yet personable and gave us a really good feeling for the town in some aspects of its recent history, all in about 2 hours and 15 minutes. I would highly recommend one of her tours
Couldn't recommend the walking tour enough, we were told about it in our accommodation. It was so easy to book, and the meet-up place was easy to find. The guides are wonderful and full of knowledge, Domen was an amazing tour guide! It was definitely worth it, would love to experience their other tours.
Helena was an excellent guide. She was informative as well as being very amusing. Her English was also excellent
The Ljubljana walking tour was interesting and entertaining and definitely worth doing. Our guide was entertaining as well as informative and shared many little amusing anecdotes about the places we were visiting and the things we were seeing. It is certainly a good way to lget an overview about the history of the city and some of it's interesting forefathers.
We had a very pleasant tour with our guide, Damen. We found him to be very knowledgeable & interesting. He added in some humour wish was very welcomed by all. I would recommend him to anyone.
We really enjoyed our tour with Lana. We only arrived in Ljubljana at lunchtime so the 17.00 tour made a great introduction to the city. Lana made the tour interesting and entertaining, with just the right level of information for us. She finished with some information about other activities and restaurant recommendations, which was also useful. We recommend this tour
Great tour with lots of interesting information Marjana was great and as a local was very knowledgeable but also very approachable and fun Would recommend this tour as an overview and to get a feel for Ljubljana
Dominic was a great guide. He loves his country, and we learned a lot of historical facts from him, and enjoyed our tour
The tour was well balanced with lots of history and curent information. Tina presented all the highlights well, kept us interested and moving along. We really enjoyed it. Thank you.

This tour was a great way to be introduced to a beautiful city. Domen was an excellent guide. He provided us with lots of information including history of the city and region, amusing stories of past residents and recommendations for restaurants.
Excellent tour of the beautiful Ljubljana with tour guide Lucy. It gave a great introduction to the city and its history and helps you to orient yourselves and then go back to areas of special interest.
This was such a great history tour that explained so much about Slovenia's history and about the main areas of Ljubljana. Marianna really knew her history and delivered it with passion, enthusiasm and such positivity. I loved it, got many tips of where to visit, eat and walk. I came away with some knowledge.
A great tour just the right amount of info and humour. It is actually a free tour which you tip for at the end. I paid A$26 thru Viator but not unhappy with that as it was good value.
Great introduction to the City with a knowledgeable Guide. He provided this for free so you can book through Viatour for a fee or walk up and pay tips.
Somewhat large group but the guide Tina handled it well. She was informative, entertaining, and helpful. Good tour to view the highlights of this beautiful city.
What a fantastic and inexpensive way to learn about Slovenia’s capital. Ingrid was a particularly charismatic and knowledgeable guides. She had an answer to every question and was so approachable. She earned her top and then some. I would recommend this tour to everyone who was coming to Slovenia.
We had a blast with Anja, she was really nice and charismatic and the tour was very interesting. Hvala.
Tita was a knowledgeable and entertaining guide and it was a great experience. I have no complaints about the content of the tour but I have to say I don't like the "free" marketing scheme, where they put advertise as free and put pressure on you to tip. In that case, I would prefer that they charged a minimum fee that covers the basic expenses. I don't want to exploit anyone, but they should not say something is free and at the same time explain to us that they need tips to make a living.
Very informative tour. Lana is a very knowledgeable guide.
Our tour guide Luci was friendly, funny and extremely passionate and informative. We loved her and thoroughly enjoyed our tour, would 100% recommend!
Helena came up with the humour as well as the knowledge. It was a very well worthwhile 2 hours. Ljubljana is a superb city and Helena's tour lept voming up with gems of information.
