Our driver Mateo did a wonderful job. He showed us where to go in Pisa. Drove us to Porto venere, Monarola and Riomaggiore. His car was clean and cool on a very hot day. He guided us where to go, sights to see and was easy to get a hold of when we were ready to be picked up!

Itinerary
Arrived in the city of Pisa, our driver will take you on a short car tour where you can admire the wonderful Arno river divided by the river.
Piazza dei Cavalieri in Pisa is, after Piazza del Duomo, the most famous square in the city. In ancient times it represented the center of civil power, while from the second half of the sixteenth century it became the headquarters of the Order of the Knights of Santo Stefano, commissioned by Grand Duke Cosimo I de' Medici. Today it is a pole of cultural attraction and study due to the presence of the headquarters of the Scuola Normale Superiore.
Visit from outside the Tower of Pisa and the Cathedral of Pisa with possible internal visit of the Cathedral and the Tower of Pisa (tickets not included in the price). • Entrance ticket not included
The first of the 5 villages that make up this territory, part of the Cinque Terre National Park and the UNESCO site Portovenere, Cinque Terre e Isole (Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto).
The second of the 5 villages that make up this territory, part of the Cinque Terre National Park and the UNESCO site Portovenere, Cinque Terre e Isole (Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto).
Portovenere is a charming fishing village at the end of the Gulf of Poets, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Characterized by a "palisade" of colorful houses, the medieval village offers historical attractions such as the Church of San Pietro overlooking the sea, the Doria Castle and the picturesque "Carugio". Ideal for cultural visits, breathtaking views and boat trips to Palmaria Island. The village is easily visited on foot, combining the historical visit with Ligurian food and wine (focaccia, pesto, fried fish)

Awesome experience. Simone is Very knowledge and an excellent driver. He went above and beyond to make this an unforgettable experience. Recommends 100%
Our driver Simone was amazing. He was very informative and accommodating. Would definitely recommend.
*** This is only transportation from the cruise port to Pisa & Cinque Terre, not a tour with a guide.*** The listing is very misleading, buyer beware. Our driver spoke very little English and didn't provide much information. We were picked up at the cruise port and taken to Pisa. We had time in Pisa to walk around and take photos. Then we were driven to the first village in Cinque Terre where we were told to exit the van and speak to the lady at the train station about buying train tickets to get to the other villages. When we asked why we were buying train tickets the driver couldn't explain anything to us due to the language barrier. The driver then left and told us to meet him back at the train station at a specific time, which was much later that day. The way the listing was made, we were under the impression that the driver was taking us via the van from one village to another. We had no idea that we need to buy train tickets and take a train from village to village. So basically all we purchased for over $1000 USD was transportation from the cruise port to Pisa & Cinque Terre, and back to the ship. Then in addition we each had to buy all day train tickets for $27 euro per person. When I reached out to the owner via text he provided me with a different listing that stated something totally different than what the Viator listing stated. He was very sparky and rude, and basically told us $1000 for the transportation was a steal. So overall, I would NOT recommend this tour unless you just need a ride. However, hearing from other people on our cruise there are other tours that are much better.
This tour is just basically a driver that takes you to Cinque Terre and Pisa and drops you off and then returns to pick you up. Not sure it was worth the price we paid, I will say that Cinque Terre is simply beautiful. Be ready to navigate the train there, was a little confusing. Pisa was great too, wish we could have spent a little more time there. Overall it was a good trip
When planning this trip I didn’t realize how much there was to see in Piza, just beautiful! The gem of the day was seeing Cinque Terre though!!
Picked up at Livorno Port. Took us to Pisa and Cinque Terre. Recommended Mickys, it was delicious. Side note: make sure you take the same train you originally go on. We went on another train unbeknownst to us. They fined us 50 euros each plus the fare. Even though we had other tickets for the train. Besides that: our driver met us where he said and it was easy and a beautiful day.
Beautiful scenery and our driver was great. The roads had a lot more twists and turns than expected and our driver did a great job navigating the narrow, windy roads. He was quiet and did not speak a lot of English, but he was prompt, a very good driver, and pointed out the names of cities, mountain ranges etc. along the way. He will drop you off at any of the 5 cities and pick you up where you choose. You can purchase ferry or train tickets in the cities. Be aware though that these cities involve many steps and steep inclines. It was challenging for my 85 year old dad.
We had a wonderful experience with Claudio as our local guide. He was knowledgeable and helped us get to Pisa and navigate Cinque Terra by train. And when we ran late coming back on the train, Claudio was very communicative and got us back in time to our cruise port. Would highly recommend this tour.
This tour was AMAZING! I would definitely repeat it! My husband, my mom, my kids and I had a wonderful time. The tour made a stop at Pisa before arriving to Cinque Terre! Both places beautiful. We had good amount of time to stop at Pisa and visit three of the Villages in Cinque Terre, eat, snack, got in the water. The driver was very friendly and knowledgeable, the ride was very comfortable and with A/C. The driver arrived on time for pick from our cruise and made us get back with plenty of time to get back on our cruise. Thank you Viator! I will definitely continue using you for my future trips :)
Simon was an excellent tur guide due to the fact he is from the area. We had an opportunity to truly explore and enjoy ourselves and he adjusted our itinerary based on the things that we decided we wanted to do.
We had a terrific day with Simon, he was knowledgeable and helped us navigate Cinque Terra. Utilized the trains and trails between towns. Each town was a little different and worth visiting. Simone helped us make the most of our time in Cinque Terra we could not have asked for a better day.
Francesco did an excellent job as our driver for this tour. We got off our cruise ship at Livorno about 15 minutes before our scheduled meeting time and he was already there waiting for us. His Mercedes van was well kept and had bottled water for us. His English was a little rough, but way better than my Italian and it got the job done. He took us to Knights Square in Pisa, the Leaning Tower, Porto Venere, where we had a great lunch at one of the many seaside sidewalk restaurants and then to the Cinque Terre villages of Manarola and Riomaggiore. At each stop, he dropped us off and returned at an agreed upon time to pick us up. This tour provides a driver but not a guide. Francesco provided plenty of good information, but did not accompany us into the attractions. At Cinque Terre, he could not drive us into either village due to parking restrictions and had to drop us off at the top of both. That meant we had to walk down and back up about 300 ft of elevation change at both of them.. Due to the steep climb up, if you’re not at least moderately healthy, this may not be the tour for you but I’m confident that they could modify it to address your concerns. At Riomaggiore, Francesco told us to look for a shuttle bus that we could take back up to the top, but we never saw it until it returned after we had already climbed back up. The scenery is amazing and definitely worth the hikes. Apparently, according to other reviews, some versions of this tour may involve an additional-charge train or ferry. We were not given those options and travelled by car (our preference anyway) the entire tour. Many of the roads to Cinque Terre are very narrow, steep and windy, filled with typically aggressive Italian drivers. Franscesco handled the roads well. However, if you suffer from motion sickness, be sure to come prepared. I recommend this tour as long you consider the above precautions. Total time was about 8 1/2 hours.
Simone is the best and was such a great host in his home country and city. First, getting off the ship at Livorno port is a nightmare, bus rides after bus rides just to get to the city. Simone was standing outside of the ship waiting on me so I didn't have to get on the bus. The car was clean, had water for us and a true VIP service. Drove to Pisa, saw the city and sights and then headed to Cinque Terre which was about an hour and 45 minutes there. He gave us pointers on food, knew all about the cities as we drove. He is an excellent driver, I fell asleep on the drive there and back. He respected this time and didn't wake me until we arrived. This says a lot because I never trust strangers driving me. Lol. Don't hesitate to book, it's worth it and he was always close by when we were ready to leave. Highly customizable to what you want to see. Ask for Simone when you book, you won't be disappointed.
Simone was a very friendly and knowledgeable man with such patience at answering our many questions.
Simone Franco was our driver. He was amazing. Very knowledgeable like having your own personal guide. Gave us clear directions to navigate around Cinque Terre. Was always ready and waiting for us exactly where was described.
Do not do this trip in December. It was basically a mode of transportation from boat to Pisa and Cinqe Terre. Very pricey for just a ride.
This was a fabulous trip through some charming villages nestled in the mountains by the sea. It was easy travel on the train to each. We also had a stop in Pisa.
Matteo was waiting for us at the designated spot and time, explained the day which took us to Pisa and Cinque Terre pointing out highlights along the 90+ minute drive from Livorno to Pisa to Cinque Terre (return was 70 minute express back to ship). He offered extra time in Pisa which we declined as we wanted more time in cinque Terre which we were happy we did
Wow what a fantastic day. Thanks Matteo for picking us up from the Harbour and drove us the Pisa then onto Cinque Terra. You spoke with such passion about this amazing villages. You made our family tour the best.
Our tour guide was 5* so polite informative & helpful! Because of the weather we could not go to cinque Terre & instead saw Florence! I can’t remember his name, but what a gentleman!
Our tour guide Simone went above and beyond to take care of our family on this wonderful tour. We visited Pisa had time to walk around and then spend 4 hours exploring cinque terre. We visited 3 of the 5 villages, spending a little over an hour in each one. It was our favorite tour of the trip and I would highly recommend it.
Having been to Pisa, we skipped that part of the tour. Mateo drove us straight to Riomaggiore and sent a link to buy train tickets. We had a wonderful time wandering through the cities and enjoying the sights. The day gave us a great overview of the area. Definitely recommend this if your cruise docks in Livorno.
Unfortunately, our cruise ship could not dock in Livorno the day we were scheduled for this tour due to unsafe weather conditions. (September 12, 2024). We had been in contact with our driver the day before, and at his recommendation and in good faith that we were committed to be on this tour, pre-purchased our train tickets to avoid standing in line for them. We immediately contacted Viator when we were told we could not dock and they reached out to the provider several times to grant us a refund, even suggesting a partial refund and he refused. We also tried to reason with him and he began getting rude with us, so we stopped engaging him. Viator is still trying and has escalated our refund request but told us that it's their policy that refunds for cancelations within the 24-hour period are completely at the discretion of the tour operator. We spoke to others who had Viator-booked excursions that day and they had received immediate refunds. We did get to Livorno the following day, as we were supposed to overnight there, and took another tour from a local provider there. They told us that they had to cancel all of their tours to Cinque Terre the day before because of the weather so we were not sure what kind of tour we would've had if we had docked and could go. We've booked many excursions with Viator and have been satisfied. We are still hopeful this will get resolved and will receive at least some of the $800 we paid (for 6 people) refunded, but I just wanted to warn folks that this can happen and we are encouraging Viator, on behalf of their customers, to discontinue contracting with local providers who are unreasonable in these types of situations.
If you are cruising in July/August, treat yourself to Cinque Terre and go with Simone! Florence is a crowded, stressful oven at that time of year. Cinque Terre is unique, tranquil and exceptionally beautiful. Simone makes the trip even more astounding and luxurious. Through a quick tour in his native Pisa, he imparted to us that the impressive city is so much more than a leaning tower. The astounding UNESCO villages of Cinque Terre will not disappoint and Simone elevates getting there to the next level.
We really enjoyed our time with Matteo as our driver. It is my understanding that in Italy, you need to have a license to be marketed as a tour guide. For that reason, most listings for tours are clear to specify that the agreement is for a driver and not a tour guide. Despite the fact that this is how these tours are advertised, it was our experience that most drivers act as unlicensed tour guides, with a lot of information that they share with their clients while they drive. Matteo was very friendly and a good communicator. He was polite and spoke English well. He did not wear the ‘tour guide hat’ quite as much as some of our other drivers in different ports of call though. For this reason, I would say that this company provided more of a driver than a driver and guide combination. Overall, it was a great day, and I would recommend the company and Matteo.
Dario was an excellent driver. He was on time picking us up and made a few stops in Pisa to show us the sights before dropping us off in the first town of Cinque Terre. When we were done he was waiting for us exactly as described. He provided maps and tips for a smooth day in these beautiful coastal towns.
Awesome tour and even better driver/tour guide.. Simone was awesome. Gave us a lot of information and sights of Pisa (his hometown) things we would of never seen or knew.. On our way to Cinque Terre he showed us a lot of places pointing out along the way. Drop off and pickup were perfect as well as info on how to navigate the Cinque Terre islands. He is an asset to this tour group..
Our one day at Livorno port was exactly as described Our lovely driver, Simone, was punctual, polite and friendly Pisa was wonderful and we managed to see all 5 towns of cinque Terre and make it back to our boat in comfort and on time Thsnks for the dining tips Simone, we had a wonderful day
Simone picked us up from Livorno and took us in a private car to Pisa he was able to park very close and we were there before the tourists. He then took us to the closest point of the train to Cinque Terre he explained exactly how to get around the towns and where to meet back up. He was very knowledgeable and made our experience fun. Private for sure is the way to go! He was the best tour guide!
The villages are really awesome. My wife and I like Riomaggiore and Manarola the most. Cinque Terre is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited in my whole life.
Simone was a wonderful driver- safe but effective at navigating quickly. He offered wonderful commentary and pointed out interesting sites along the way. He was great at explaining what to do and he made us fall in LOVE with Pisa! I would definitely recommend this excursion!
A perfect day trip from Livorno Cruise Port. Simone, our driver was phenomenal! He was friendly, knowledgeable, extremely safe driver, made excellent recommendations for local food, and showed us some things we definitely wouldn't have seen on our own. We got exactly what we wanted out of this flexible tour and for cheaper (not to mention private just for our family) than we would have had with an excursion from the cruise company. Highly recommend!
We can’t recommend Simon highly enough. He was the perfect host for our day trip to the Cinque Terra. Kind and informative, he made sure we all had a wonderful day. Thank you so much Simon, you are a great Ambassador for Italy and Pisa.
This was a great and efficient way to quickly see Pisa, then head straight to cinque terra to experience the 5 villages. The driver (Simone) explained to us exactly what we needed to do to optimize our time. Note, you do need to be comfortable buying train tickets and reading train schedules, but it was super easy and the cinque terra train card is cheap and easy. We saw 4 out of the 5 villages in about 4 hours including stopping for lunch in monterosso. Highly recommend, especially if you’ve already been to Florence and are looking for a different type of experience.
At the beginning of the tour, we were frequently transferred from one bus to another due to supposed breakdowns. However, it became evident that they were using the same bus to accommodate another group of tourists immediately. It seems they wanted to utilize the bus in the most efficient manner, but that's not the main issue. The air conditioning on the bus was not functioning properly, and when we approached the transportation leader about the matter, she responded rudely, raising her voice and claiming she had no time to address our concerns. This experience was quite disappointing and left us dissatisfied with the tour.
I was pick pocketed in Cinque Terre getting on a train. I need to talk with someone at Viator to provide a new credit card number for a tour. As of now the charge was declined. How do I do that safely?
We went to Pisa and Florence instead of Cinque Terre. Pisa was very nice, the tower it is magnificent. Florence was ok.Our driver Simone was super helpful, knowledgeable and nice.
Simone is amazing! He was waiting with a sign for us when we got off the ship, gave us water, drive safely and took us to amazing places! We loved this tour and would definitely book again with Simone!
We had a great self guided day. Our driver & tour guide Simone was charming & very helpful with instructions for Cinque Terra. The trains were down on the day so he dropped us at the first town & we caught the ferry between each town. He was waiting for us when our ferry pulled in at the end of the day. At Pisa he not only drove us to the Leaning Tower but showed us the town of Pisa and explained various landmarks there & on our drive north. Totally recommend Simone especially for a private pickup & return from Cruise terminal.
Claudio was AMAZING! he was very knowledgeable about the area and even grew up near Pisa! He was on time and very accommodating with anything we needed (like using his hotspot). He even went out of his way to pick us up in Riomaggiore so we didn’t have to wait for the train to La Spezia because the trains were running slow. To sum it up he was great!
Driver Simone was a great transporter. Got us to the key places we wanted to visit with clear instructions on where to walk and what to expect. How and where to meet up. He was patient as there were some delays waiting for openings and train delays. Very enjoyable time in Pisa and Cinque Terre. For first timers in Italy, it was a blast!
Emilio, our driver, picked us up promptly at 8:00a.m. at the cruise port in Livorno in a super nice, clean van for our tour. Although he was very pleasant and answered most of our questions, he was not what we consider a "tour operator". He was basically a driver. However, we thoroughly enjoyed our stops in Pisa and Cinque Terre. Emilio dropped us off in Riomaggiore with directions to the train station. We navigated the streets, found the train station and managed to buy our round trip, full day train passes. We spent several hours traveling to and exploring each of the villages. It was delightful, even though it was raining, and have decided we would like to return again soon. Overall, it was a great day but would have enjoyed more information about the area. Also, it would be nice to offer a bottle of water to the guests for the return trip to Livorno.
Beautiful cities to explore. Definitely take this tour! So many picturesque places to visit! Claudio was our driver and he was very helpful! We also enjoyed our visit to Pisa!
Simone was the driver of one of our cars and according to my husband and the two other friends that rode with him, he was great! Very knowledgeable and spoke great english. The driver of the 7 passenger van that I was in was very nice but he did not understand english as well and we did not feel like we where able to ask him questions about the region which is something enjoyed doing with all of our tours during our trip. We where able to use the translation app on our phone but we where afraid of distracting him while driving so we stopped. The leaning tour of Pisa was gorgeous but I recommend making a reservation before you get there if you want to climb to the top and also if you want to tour the church. We only had about 1 hour in the area before loading up to be driven 1 hour to Cinque Terre. We where dropped off at the first village in Cinque Terre and given instructions on how to get from one village to the next (either by train or ferry) but having never been there before we where a bit lost and had to figure it out on our own. It would have been nice to have a tour guide with us at all times to help with translation and also provide more information about the areas we visited. having said all of that we thought the villages where magical and I cannot wait to go to visit this area again one day!
Because of bad weather, Simon generously and knowledgeably suggested alternative itineraries. Much appreciated! Instead of Cinque Terre in the rain, we went to both Pisa and Lucca and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Simon gave us lots of great suggestions and free time to explore. Simon is very friendly and enthusiastic and his English was so good we easily communicated with him. Highly recommend booking with him!!
This was an amazing tour. We always wanted to visit Cinque Terre but opted always to stop at Florence, Pisa or the Tuscany wineries. We took this opportunity that we were in a cruise to do a day trip to Cinque Terre instead. Emilio, our driver was on time, courteous, and very engaging with our kids. Emilio provided all the necessary information for us to tour CT on our own. The van was clean and we made it on time to be back to the port and continue our cruise journey. I would use this tour services again!
We had a wonderful day! Such beautiful sights to see. The vehicle was fantastic and very clean and spacious. We had many stops along the way to take photos. It was great to have a private day trip with just our family. Thank you for such a nice day.
We were met by Massimo - a very nice gentleman. He gave us choices of how to spend our day - we went to Pisa first and he offered us umbrellas due to the misty day. He meet us promptly at our agreed upon time. As we drove to Cinque Terre - along the way he pointed out points of interest and shared information as he did for the entire tour. In Cinque Terre he negotiated our tickets to make sure they understood what we needed and we understood the plan. The ferry ride was breath taking. We explored Manarola, which was beautiful and amazing - such a charming little village tucked inside the rocks. Upon our return from Manarola, Massimo met us with a large umbrella to protect us from the drizzle. It was a perfectly beautiful day even through the clouds. Highly recommend.
A great day out with Simone. He went above and beyond to give us a really memorable day out in Cinque Terre and Pisa. Very informative, friendly and accommodating. Will recommend for anyone wanting a great tour and driver.
