Raffaele was INCREDIBLE! This tour was the best of all worlds - private, guided, touristy, and exclusive. I would highly recommend this to all cruise travelers, and beyond.

Our guide was fantastic. Very knowlegeable and personable. Our cruise ship changed ports due to weather issues, he worked with us and picked us up at the new location. The town of Lucca is so very beautiful- packed with old world charm. The vineyard was beautiful- the wines and snacks were delicious. The tower in Pisa was also beautiful. I just cannot say enough kind and positive things about Tomasso. If you are looking for a tour guide that makes you feel like you are important, teaches you about the region, or is willing to work with you with challenges, this is the one you want to book!
We had an amazing time and our driver, Tommaso, was absolutely the best!! Our stop in Lucca was great- we enjoyed the real italian experience- we had cappuccinos, the best croissants ever, Gelato and pizza. We then went to the wine tasting which the good and wine were incredible. It's was the most beautiful location with wonderful people. Everything we had there was phenomenal. We then went to Pisa for the perfect amount of time to take pics and get souvenirs. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone. We had a group of 8 friends, which was comfortable in the private van, but would be the most you could fit. 10/10 would highly recommend!
Our day with Raffaelle was absolutely fabulous from beginning to end! He personally picked us up right at the cruise port, which made the entire day feel effortless and incredibly well organized from the moment we stepped off the ship. We started with beautiful Lucca, where we were able to experience the charm and history of the city without feeling rushed. From there, he took us to a small, family-owned, old-school vineyard that was one of the highlights of our entire trip. It felt authentic, intimate, and like we were getting to experience a genuine piece of Tuscany rather than a typical tourist stop. The setting, the family atmosphere, and the wine made it such a memorable experience. We then continued on to Pisa, where he made sure we had plenty of time to get the perfect photos with the Leaning Tower before heading back toward the ship. He knew exactly how to make the most of our time while still allowing us to enjoy each place along the way. What really stood out was how personable, knowledgeable, and accommodating he was. He made us feel like we were spending the day with a friend who happened to know all the best places, rather than simply being on a tour. He took care of the details, kept us on schedule, and made the entire day relaxed and enjoyable. If you are visiting the area on a cruise and want to see Lucca, experience a truly special family vineyard, and visit Pisa, I would highly recommend booking this tour. It was one of our favorite days of the trip, and we left with wonderful memories and some incredible photos.
This was fantastic way to see Lucca, which seem a little different than the ordinary trip to Pisa and Florence. I wouldn’t change a thing! We had more of a personal experience and got to feel more of a local vibe! Raffael was amazing! If I could give him 10 stars , I would!
We loved Rafael! This was our favorite tour of our vacation. Didn't know much about Lucca, now I would go back anytime. The city was charming and beautiful, but not overrun by tourists. Winery was quaint and beautiful. Pisa was a zoo, glad we saw it, but wouldn't spend a lot of time there. Rafael had is well prepared. Van was very comfortable and pickup and drop-off were flawless. We hope to come back and take another tour with Rafael.
Great day! Our driver was amazing very knowledgable and welcoming. Marko is a Lucca local which was very helpful.
Tomasso our guide was fantastic. He created such a welcoming experience in the van and was so attentive to our wants and needs. He changed our itinerary less than 24 hours before and gave us the opportunity to see two magnificent wineries. He gave great information and shared about his beloved Lucca. It was a fantastic day with Tomasso and I highly recommend this excursion, especially those on a cruise from Livorno.
Marco arrived on time and was fully prepared to start our tour. He explained the area and it's historical significance. Our first stop was the town of Lucca - it was lovely and would highly recommend it. Marco was very helpful giving us suggestions for our time there. Next we visited a small family run winery. We had a really nice experience there. Our final stop was Pisa - we did the tourist thing there ( take pictures) and then on our way back to the ship. I would definitely use this company the next time I visit the area.
Tomasso made our day "authentic and chill". He was very knowlegable and kept it entertaining as well. The winery stop was a very special stop! the food, wine, people and location were spectacular. This is a great local tour supporting authentic locals.
We had amazing day touring Lucca and stopping at a local family winery for a tour, wine tasting and lunch. Amazing views , tour guides Rafaelli and Tomaso gave a lot of historical information. The last stop in Pisa to see the leaning tower was very nice. I definitely would recommend this tour.
Thomaso was amazing! Hes a local who makes you feel like family! Consider visiting Lucca instead of Florence! Its an amazing town that gives you an authentic Italian feel!
Lucca is charming. Wish the driver had shared more information while we were driving about the area and history. Once in Lucca, after a brief talk we were on our own. Disappointed in that lack of information provided. The winery stop and wine tasting was fantastic, wonderful setting and family story, the wines and snacks were generous and very good. Perhaps another driver would do a better job.
Our driver, Raffaele, was the best! We enjoyed everything about our tour and wine tasting in Lucca. He was very knowledgeable and also kept up entertained and laughing. We experienced a part of Tuscany that we would not otherwise know! We have been "Tuscanized."
A wonderful experience and great tour! This tour provides great insight into Lucca, a great town, wine tasting at a small family winery and a brief visit to Pisa. Rafael does an outstanding job of explaining everything and is a great tour guide. It is a no stress experience and we would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a small group tour.
What an amazing day in Lucca with Tommaso! Having a local as your guide was incredible! He was so knowledgeable and showed us everything fabulous about his town! We fell in love with Lucca! The wine tasting was so intimate in the family home. Julia and Carlo made it so special and amazing. We were treated like family! Finally the communication with Tommaso was perfect! We decided on a private trip which was so fun! We highly recommend this tour!!!
Our tour guide Raffaele was very attentive, knowledgable, and made our tour very enjoyable. Loved the experience of his town, Lucca. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL CITY! Also enjoy the wine experience in a very traditional winery. This tour is a MUST do! And the timing with everything was perfect. Was also able to visit the tour of Pisa.
We were picked up on time by our Driver/guide Raffaele. The tour to Lucca,Pisa & wine tasting was absolutely fantastic. Lele was extremely knowledgeable and with a good dose of humour added, which made it really fun. the wine estate was small and very interesting. They us feel very welcome and the tour of the winery was very good. The visit to Pisa was enough time to see everything. All in all I will recommend this tour to everyone as the total experience was 10 star.
Raffaele was very pleasant and personable. He actually lives in old lucca. So you can image what he could tell us about the area. Knew a lot about the winery and Pisa. Money well spent. The most enjoyable excursion of our 10 day cruise. Travelled with 3 other couples. Lots of talking, laughs, drinking, eating and fun.
We were very much looking forward to exploring Luca and surrounds - but unfortunately our tour was cancelled at short notice by the operator claiming their car was damaged and needing repairs. The operator asked us to cancel the tour ourselves - rather than them cancelling it - which I can only assume is to not affect their rating with the tour sites. It was disappointing to see the same tour still being offered for sale when we were asked to cancel. I feel if it was a genuine issue - the tour operator should have cancelled and arranged the refund themselves, rather than us having to do it.
My family of four really enjoyed this tour. We liked seeing Lucca and the winery that we visited was super great and had great wine and food. Pisa was kind of a quick stop but we had been there before anyway.
Our cruise ship docked in Livorno for the day and we chose this tour to primarily visit a winery and to see the Leaning Tower in Pisa. There was initially some confusion on where the Viator app told us to meet our guide (Marco) so we spent about 30 minutes sorting that out. From there, we traveled in a nice, comfortable van to the town of Lucca where we got to spend about 3 hours roaming around on our own. Marco gave us some great suggestions of things to do and the time went by quickly in this wonderful little town. We were not sure what to expect but we really enjoyed our time there and would consider coming back in the future. From Lucca, it was a short drive to a small, privately owned vineyard/winery where we got a tour of the grounds and quick overview of the wine making process. We then enjoyed an outdoor lunch and wine tasting right by the vineyard which was fantastic. We were the only 4 guests on the property at the time so the experience, service, and atmosphere were absolutely incredible. We opted to purchase additional wines to taste which were great and quite reasonable. From there, we headed to Pisa to view the Tower. There is not enough time on this particular tour to go up into the tower so after spending 30 minutes taking the obligatory pictures and getting a gelato, we were on our way back to the port. The area in Pisa around the Tower is definitely crowded so we could really appreciate the peaceful experience we had at the winery just a short time before. Marco was able to drive us right to our ship which was very convenient. Overall - the tour company (Autoserviz DB Tuscany) did an amazing job and we would not hesitate to use them again on future trips to the area.
One of the best tours I have been on. Raffaele is so knowledgeable and had us learning so many things about Lucca and Pisa! I recommend this tour to anybody stopping at the Livorno port! Top notch operation!
Marco seemed a little tired the day we had him. He was polite but only forthcoming with information when asked. Very knowledgeable. Lots of time to shop around Luca, perhaps a little bit too much time. The wine tasting was superb so interesting and so much fun. Great wine great food.
The tour was amazing, the City of Lucca was beautiful and could have spent all day here exploring, the winery was a lovely little family run farm, not pretentious at all with lovely nibbles and wine. We stopped in Pisa for a short time, just enough time to get a pic of the leaning tower which was fine for us. The only reason I couldn't give this a 5/5 was due to the lack of pickup from our hotel, we didn't realise this was a port trip when booking, which we over-looked but then the pickup and drop off point was a gas station outside of the port which was very difficult to get to from our hotel and ended up costing us another 60 euros in taxis. other than that if you are coming off a ship, fantastic and would recommend.
Marco and Raf were a lot fun and informative. Marco was an excellent driver. They clearly love Lucca, and so did we! Pisa was interesting and spectacular but very crowded. We were on our own there.
A wonderful, very relaxing tour with Marco, our tour guide/driver. We had plenty of time in Lucca to walk around at leisure, shop, and have some gelato, coffee/tea while listening to music at a sidewalk cafe on the Oval Square. Afterwards, we visited a small family winery where we walked through the vineyards, learned about how they hand picked and processed their grapes to make wine, followed by a wine tasting under a gazebo for a wine tasting with a plate full of meats, cheese, homemade bread, olive oil & vinegar, and bruschettas. Then we were dropped off in Pisa to visit the leaning tower of Pisa (much more impressive in person!) with plenty of time to take pictures, read, and shop for souvenirs! A lovely day!
Rafaelle was our tour guide and he was great he was on time, knew what he was doing, and very helpful. I recommend this tour and company !!
unfortunately we did not get to go, due to an accident involving transportation. They were always prompt with replying to us.
This was a great tour. Raphael was a great tour guide. He drove us around Lucca and Pisa. He was knowledgeable about Lucca seeing that he is from there. After spending time in Lucca, we went to the winery. The winery was nice and family owned. The food was okay. You don’t get a full meal. You only get anti-pasta (bread, cheese and meat) and a dessert. Please don’t expect to be fully fed. It was nice hearing about the winery and its growth over the generations. We were given 3 wines to taste and if you wanted extra pours you had to pay €3-4. I enjoyed the white wine and decided to buy a bottle for €12. Lastly, we went to Piss. Just note that if you want to spend more time at Pisa you should alert Raphael for we only had 30 minutes once we were done at the winery to enjoy Pisa. Overall, a great private tour.
We loved Tommaso, he was knowledgeable, friendly, and we had a wonderful time with him. We would highly recommend this tour.
The tour of Lucca was great. I had no idea how much this little town had to offer. Then the visit to Pisa was wonderful. And we especially liked the wine tasting. I highly recommend this tour.
Tomasso was fantastic! His personality is perfect for this job and he was very kin, accommodating, warm, and informative. The experience was stellar because we had an exceptional guide!
Over the course of my life, I've had the good fortune to travel to many beautiful and unique places, but our trip to Lucca, and Pisa was the first time I've used a personal tour guide.Out of all of my vacations and travels, the day with Raphael and Autoservizi DBTuscany is the single best day I've had. The thoughtfulness, pride, joy and love Raphael has for Lucca and it's surrounding areas is palpable. The time and care he took with our group was the same, we were not simply customers, we were family. I'd never heard of Lucca prior to our day trip and I had no expectations, I figured we'd stop, look at some churches, go to a winery and then Pisa is where we'd spend our time... Now I've searched real estate every day in Lucca since I've been home, have reached out to the local football club and have already ordered wine from Fratelli Urbani winery. Living in and around the Chicago area my entire life, I've been been more than spoiled with exposure to world class food, sports (though not of late), art, museums, architecture, etc... so maybe I've become a bit jaded, but our day with ADBT was a reality check of all the simplicity and beauty that still exists in the world.; stunning really. I am sure that I would have enjoyed my day with whomever was leading the tour, but Raphael was exceptional.When/if he ever visits the States, I'd love for my family to meet him, and take him around, show. If I were to do a fraction of the job he did, taking care of my family, our time would be successful. Lucca is everything you'd dream a small, quintessential Italian town would be, Fratelli Urbani winery was the third best meal I've ever had (my mom was from the "back of the yards" southside Polish and knew how to cook), and our time in Pisa was everything we expected it to be. There are no regrets with this trip. We can't wait to go back. It's also entirely possible that Lucchese drinking water is better than Chicago!
Couldn’t recommend this tour any more highly! The tour of Lucca was fascinating and the trip to the winery was just perfect, and we still got to Pisa to see the leaning tower. Also the guides were wonderful!
Our family group of 10, including 2 young children, was an absolute delight! Transportation was provided from the port, and our guides, Tommaso and Rafael, were locals and so were very knowledgeable, as well as fun and personable. The visit to the winery was just the relaxing time we needed! Then, of course, a visit to Pisa to see the tower. We highly recommend this tour!
Most awesome experience! Marco was wonderful and gave us a great tour of Lucca, Pisa and a small family winery. We thoroughly enjoyed our day. The winery was the highlight with beautiful views of the mountains along with a lovely charcuterie board of appetizers to go with our wine. Marco was very flexible with our plans and allowed us to spend as much time in one place as we wanted. He picked us up at the port and delivered us back perfectly on time. I would highly recommend this tour
