The boat trip was great the road safari not so much, guide was not really interested in explaining much, truck setup was difficult to converse with guide & little effort was put in disappointing to say the least or maybe we were just spoilt in kruger
Amazing day. I enjoyed every minute. Saw so many animals and had a lovely lunch. Chobe is must see place. Great service from pick up from my lodge to our guide around Chobe. Would highly recommend.
It was amazing The driver was friendly Snacks given on the way and where we had lunch was exceptional- lots of options offers and tasty
Amazing experience to Botswana. We were picked up promptly from our hotel in Livingstone Zambia and were transported to the Botswana border which was about 1 hour along the Mosi-Oa Tunya National Park route. Once we arrived at the Botswana border, we were able to get our passports stamped and then transfer to a safari vehicle where we completed the land safari portion of the tour. On the land safari, we were able to see lots of impalas, elephants, giraffes, hippos, and different species of birds. We followed up with a delicious lunch in Kasane Botswana in a village which was so cool. We then went on the river safari portion of the tour which was my favorite. I got to see so many animals up close on the Chobe River including crocodiles, birds, and herds of elephants swimming in the Chobe River. An amazing tour from beginning to end.
The river safari is way too short, at most 1 hour near the Chobe national park. We saw very few elephants and the boat was too far from those elephants. Not recommended.
My husband and I had just done Kruger National Park and wanted to try a different safari in another country to compare. This one day option in Botswana was perfect and did not break the bank! Breakdown of the day below: 1) Given the cost, this is not a private tour. We were picked up in a van with two other couples/families on time and had to go through border formalities - the drive to the border was 1 hour+ and the border process was fairly quick, maybe 20 minutes given no lines. 2) We switched vehicles across the border and hopped on an open air safari vehicle and immediately drove to Chobe National Park. It was a 3 hour land safari and we saw a lion and two cubs, giraffes, elephants, baboons, a lilac breasted bird, and much more! 3) The open air vehicle then took us directly to lunch. It was a buffet lunch with rice, chicken, beef, fish and vegetables. The lunch was ok but did the job! Note that the drinks are not free there but you can get free water on the safari and take it to lunch with you. 4) We were then transported to the river cruise. This fit ~20 people. We got incredibly close to elephants! We watched them swim across the river and I even got a picture right in front of the elephant. We also saw hippos, buffalo, and crocodiles very close. 5) We were then transported back to the border, same border formalities as before. And then an hour or so drive back to the hotel to be dropped off. Shout out to our land guide Wilson and our river guide Tao. Both were great and very knowledgeable! I saw just as much, if not more animals than I did in Kruger and this was a cheaper option as well.
The safari today was absolutely amazing! Our guide Wilson was very knowledgeable, funny and tried best to find lions during our trip... which we did. However, the boat tour was even better! OMG! We're very impressed on seeing swimming elephants and the beauty around. The Chobe National Park is just amazing and must see on your visit in Zambia, Zimbabwe or Botswana. FYI, we had our pick up from Livingstone in Zambia, 1h drive to the border. Got help through the border checks, then switched cars and had 20mins drive to the park. Next 3h wildlife viewing drive, lunch and 2.5h boat cruise. Next drive back to the border, and to Livingstone. The only thing worth also nothing that any drinks, including water are charged at the lunch, so grab one from the car if don't want to spend money.
I highly recommend experiencing Chobe National Park. It is an amazing setting to see the animals in, both by land and water. The pick up and transfer to and from my hotel in Zambia to the park in Botswana was great. On time smooth transfer with friendly helpful staff that helps you through border crossings and getting you with the park tours. There was a bit of a hiccup with getting started with the initial game drive, but that was not the fault of this company and they worked it out and made it right. The river portion of the safari was incredible. There was great animal viewing on both land and water.
Our guides Vincent and Large were both excellent and very knowledgeable. This was truly the trip of a lifetime. We were lucky enough to see lion, elephants, giraffe, hippos and crocodiles. We also saw lots of impala, wart hogs, jackal, lilac breasted kula, African fish eagle, monitor lizard, kingfisher, and other wild fowl. Lunch at the lodge was very good, the whole trip was very well organised, tan smoothly and to time. Pickups from and to our hotel were also punctual and the driver was very polite.
We had a wonderful day with HSM Adventures on this tour. The wildlife was phenomenal, the scenery was spectacular, and we made fantastic friends, including with David, our driver, who engaged us in conversations about Zambian culture, history, customs, and life. He was an amazing driver and so mature for his age - we truly cannot wait to see what he's going to do with his career in tourism. He's going to be amazing! We also appreciated how, in general, the day was well-organized and our next steps were clearly communicated. Immigration at the border didn't take nearly as much time as I expected and the process was very smooth. A few notes to those reading these reviews: 1. Many tour groups come to the same room to eat a buffet lunch at the luxury lodge. It was very loud and difficult to hear the host's instructions about beverages - what I heard was "included." I misheard - coffee and tea are included, but soft drinks, water, and alcoholic beverages are not. When waiters came around taking drink orders, everyone began ordering and we followed suit. We should've clarified, and while the cost wasn't horrendous, $3 for a sprite and $2 for water is overpriced, and this is coming from someone living in the NYC region. It also wasn't a necessary purchase since the game drive driver stopped halfway to give us a snack of crisps and soft drinks/water, and the boat tour operator also had a cooler full of soft drinks/water for free. Just keep this in mind if you're trying to avoid unnecessary expenditures. I recommend that management make this clearer to guests upfront and consider offering coolers of soft drinks/water in the cars that transport guests from Livingstone to the Botswana border and back. 2. We came in May and it was much cooler than we expected in the morning. The game drive truck had blankets (bless!), but wearing long pants and a warm jacket is advised. 3. Having visited Kruger National Park a few days earlier, where driving is strictly confined to designated tar and gravel roads, we were appalled that the game drive drivers we experienced/witnessed in Chobe National Park all went on prohibited land just to get us closer to wildlife... While we love photography and the chance to get a closer photograph of lions was thrilling, we were deeply troubled by the drivers' actions. Driving on the grass to approach wildlife felt wrong and at one point, six drivers circled their trucks around a group of seven lionesses. The lionesses were noticeably uncomfortable and began huddling closer together until a path outside of this circle was created. This came across as very disrespectful to the wildlife, but I can't fault the drivers completely because visitors and their expectations of what to see on a game drive are likely partially complicit. I strongly urge management to discourage such behavior from drivers and empower them to remind visitors that what they see is dependent upon what the wildlife chooses to do that day... And as visitors, please humbly accept the rules of national parks and tame your expectations. Off-roading in a private game reserve is different, and we truly felt sorry for the animals that were intimidated.
Very good Tour on both Land and River. Guides and driver David were all very informative and friendly .Seen a wide variety of animals.
It was done by another company. Not HSM adventure and Safari. I have enjoy it and was done very professional by the other company.
Excellent combination of. Jeep safari and a boat experience on the river. VIncent was our land guide and he was wonderful!
It's was wonderful tour. The open safari vehicle was very comfortable and we saw quite few animals including lions. The boat tour was very interesting too. We saw crocodiles and hippos.
The tour was just PERFECTION. From the land Safari to the boat tour I’m confident to say it was one of the most memorable experiences if my life. Mateo (Jeep guide) and Large (boat guide) made this experience 10000 more incredible taking us super close to the animals and making us feel so special.
It was a very great experience with very top class services.. great food .. every thing was just super 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
Absolutely amazing!! I had never been on safari before, but made to feel safe and at ease by the whole team. Everything went smoothly and the whole day was enjoyable, seeing some incredible wildlife. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to do this activity.
We saw many elephant families, lions, hippos, birds, giraffes, Kudu, Baboons, impalas, monkeys, crocodiles, buffaloes, warthogs and it was the smoothest of 5 Safaris I have
Chobe National Park stole my heart years ago and it still holds the most special part. Nature our guide in the park was awesome and we even saw the elusive leopard. Large our guide on the river was also great and as he knew we were bird fans he stopped for so many different species.
Chobe National Park was one of the most incredible places I’ve visited! We saw hundreds of elephants and dozens of other animals including a pride of lionesses up close. Lunch was included and was surprisingly good and the boat tour was a nice relaxing way to spend the other half of the day watching hippos and more elephants. The whole area is just so stunning and filled with wildlife. However, this tour definitely is one of those large tour groups that sometimes can feel disorganized and impersonal. You get picked up by a separate driver that will then hand you off to another driver at the border. At the end of the tour, we were shuttled from the lodge where you have lunch and the boat tour back to the border. This process was a bit chaotic as the instructions were unclear and everyone was confused on which vehicle to get on. The border crossing into Botswana took two hours (which the guides did say was unusually long) but we were picked up from our hotel in Livingstone at 6:30am and didn’t begin the safari drive until 10:00am. However I did appreciate the guides making a strong effort to expedite the process and they ended up pulling us out of the line to a dedicated line for tourists going to a safari. The safari drive itself felt rushed. If it wasn’t for us and the other people in the group we would’ve missed so many animal sightings because the driver was zooming until we pointed out that we saw animals nearby. Despite that, it was still a great experience because of how there was so much wildlife everywhere. You look left and right at any given minute and there was something to see. The highlight was this large meadow that you drive down to and you can see herds of elephants as far as the eyes can see. Despite the chaos, I still recommend this tour. The guides were friendly and tried their best to make the experience good. Understandably for this price point, you won’t get too much of a personalized experience so keep that in mind. Again, the national park is teeming with wildlife and is a must do.
The weather was the beginning of the rainy season so animals were difficult to find. The guides were great and entertaining and pointed out what was available. The boat trip was wonderful with lots of hippos and water fowl.
What an amazing experience. Achieved a life time goal of seeing a lion close up in its own natural environment.
Pleasant and eventful journey. Overall it is an exciting adventure, where one gets to see and learn a lot about the wildlife. The trip includes a ride in the park and a cruise on a motorboat. This way people get to see the spectacular park from all possible angles. I would definitely recommend taking this one, time well spent!
Loved Chobe! Going through immigration was smooth, and all the guides made this tour amazing! As soon as we got to the park, after about 5 minutes of driving, a leopard walked out of the bushes, such a beautiful animal!! I would've been fine going home after that. We drove around for a couple of hours and saw lions, giraffes, impalas, lots of elephants, and had a couple of velvet monkeys jump in the vehicle lol....hide your food! After the safari, we had lunch at near by lodge, very good! After lunch it was off to the river safari! Saw tons of hippos, crocs, elephants, and buffalo. A day in Chobe is a must! I highly recommend this tour!
More elephants than we’ve ever seen before in large family herds - seen from both car & boat. Plenty of buffalo, hippos & crocodiles seen from boat. Sable antelopes were spectacular.
Amazing day! Convenient, helpful, and friendly transport with pick up and drop off by David., With changes from dry to rainy season, we’re told could be 50/50 in seeing animals depending on what weather did. We saw nearly every animal we hoped! Lions, elephants, giraffe, buffalo, hippo, impala (lots!) and more. Our guide Joe was amazing, flexible, and went beyond expectation to enable us to see them. Boat ride with driver Large was also special, with up close croc pics, buffalo and lots of hippos and birds. Food and drinks were very good.
Great trip! The staff were very welcoming and accommodating. All of the travel was very easy and went smoothly. The time of year was definitely not ideal as it had just started to rain, so there were no elephants to be found at all since they find their water elsewhere. The guides worked so hard to find us some cool animals and we got to see lions, hippos, buffalos, impalas, crocodiles, etc. The lunch was at a really cool hotel and was delicious! All of the guides are so knowledgeable and made this a great experience!
It would have been 5 out of 5 if we had been picked up. But they forgot us . If it hadn’t been for Customer Service at Elephant Hills Resort getting in touch with the company via email we would have missed out. No one answered the company’s “all hours” phone .
Had a really great time exploring Chobe with HSM Adventures! I was picked up from my hotel and with another solo traveler, drove to the Botswana border where their drive picked us up, drove us around Chobe and in the afternoon did a river tour. Would highly recommend doing this safari for anyone in the area!
It is a must if ever in Livingstone. The borders between Zambia and Botswana is greatly managed . The tour company is excellent concerning pick up and drop off from my lodge specially the fine driver they provide it to me.Both the river game Safari and Jeep were excellent. The buffet lunch was very good . Serving all the time with drinks. I Thank the company for this beautiful day.
This was a great experience and well-organized. Would highly recommend! Pick up was around 7AM & drop-off around 5PM. I was solo traveler but was multiple parties were combined, making for a terrific experience.
Arrangements were good. Lunch was very good. Saw lots of animals. Overall a good experience. Was very informative and guides had lots of knowledge
Amazing experience! Loved seeing the diversity and abundance of wildlife. Our guides were excellent! From beginning to end the tour was so well organized and accommodating for our family with kids. Loved that they put us with other groups with kids.
We went on this tour in June with our 9 year old daughter. William was a fantastic driver who provided informative details about the areas we drove through. Once we went through the border with Botswana we were handed over to Mateo as our Chobe guide. First our morning game drive exceeded expectations as we were treated to views of Elephants, Impala, Hippos and Giraffe followed by over a hundred buffalo crossing the river. We found 2 female Lions with 3 cubs, and then were extremely lucky to see a Leopard. After a lunch buffet we had an afternoon boat ride on the Chobe River where we got close up to Crocodile, Monitor Lizards, Hippos, Elephants and Buffalo. We were taken back to the border where William drove us back to our hotel. Extremely recommend this tour to anyone.
We had a very organized tour with HSM travel. Prior to the tour, I was communicating with Howard via WhatsApp and he is very communicative. He was also able to confirm my booking and provide additional information. We were picked up by William for our tour and he was on time. William was very friendly and drove really well despite the bumpy road on the way to the Botswana border. He explained the route and also pointed out various villages along the way including local life of the Zambians. We very much appreciated his stories along the way. He also helped us go through the border to cross Botswana including the customs and immigrations office where you get stamped out of Zambia and stamped into Botswana. After that, he handed us off to our tour operator in Botswana to do our game drive at Chobe. The game drive in Chobe was good. It was different from South Africa where we had just come from as it is more focused on the water safari which I liked. The land safari was so-so but it’s not the tour operator’s fault but we did manage to see a pride of lions napping. We picked up people along the way which I didn’t expect and the vehicle was pretty full. I prefer a private because and my advise to HSM is maybe offer the guests if they’d like to upgrade to a private vehicle or upgrade to a more luxury experience for the boat safaris. The boat safari was good as well. Both land and boat safari were handled by Bushtracks Botswana. However, I wished there was an option to upgrade because we saw some better boats when we were on the boat safari and wished we could have been on those as well. Regardless, the game drive and boat safari were still fun. The boat safari was full and there was maybe 15 people there so just be mindful of that if you prefer a private safari. Lunch was ok as it was in one of the resorts and it seems like all the tours to there for lunch. The food was ok and I can’t complain because the overall experience was positive. After the day, we were dropped off back to the border where we met William again. He helped us at immigrations again and drove us back carefully to our hotel. Overall positive experience but a couple of recommendations to go above and beyond for future guests: have some cold water to offer to the guests, maybe some canned coffee or energy drinks in the morning drive, play music in the car since the drive is pretty long, and offer guests if they’re interested in upgrading their experience. Overall, I recommend HSM tours. Make sure you always tip your operators because they work really hard to make your day worth it.
An amazing fun packed day. Would highly recommend. Our guide was very knowledgeable and considerate to all the passengers’ needs. Would suit any age. Seeing so many animals is such a joy. Do go!
This tour was an incredible experience. Our guides were very knowledgeable and we were so lucky to see so many animals during the day. Everything from pick up to drop off was so well organized. Shout out to William, Joe, and Dave for finding my phone and returning it speedy fast. What a miracle!
Amazing experience, the guides run the extra mile to fiend the best for you! Transportation on time, lunch place is beautiful and very good food selection. All the personal was fantastic and the safari was incredible
Howard and Team, thank you so much! Warm and friendly staff, On-Time transfers and wonderful Customer service start to finish. We truly enjoyed our Chobe Visit and saw some spectacular animal scenes.
My experience was amazing. I enjoy chobe I was traveling alone and I did feel safe. I recommend them they are responsible and respectful. The driver pick me up and took me to the border where I meet the staff for chobe . The driver was responsible and respectful. I like this agency and I recommend them if you are in Zambia. I did different tours with them and I like it.
The tour starts with a pick up from Avani hotel, and we proceeded to the border at Botswana. The immigration process was smoothly arranged by the personnel there. We then meet up with the rest of the group and started our 3 hour game drive in Chobe National Park. Mataeo was our guide and he was very informative. We saw lion, lots of elephants, impalas, mongoose, baboons and many more animals. We then proceed for buffet lunch and followed by a cruise by the river. Over here we get to witness hippos, kingfishers, elephants showering by the stream. We did the river cruise for 2 hours and we were send back to the border and to the hotel. Overall it was great arrangement packed with lots of fun and I would recommend you to try this!
Chobe day was amazing. I really enjoyed, even I went in low season I saw many elephants, hipos, monkeys, so on. They made effort to find animals especially lions. Stuff really nice and friendly and the food was delicious. I should do again in dry season that is best time to see animals. However I really enjoyed every moment. They are really helpfull answer your questions everytime. If you have a single entry visa you should pay agaib in the border 10 dollars only, but make sure you have change. Otherwise it will take tame to come back.
I book with HSM Adventures Tours & Safaris the day trip to Chobe National Park of Botswana starting from Livingstone (Zambia). Everything rolled perfect! I was picked up on time, driven to the Kazungula borders where I was accompanied throughout the whole process. A new team was waiting for us, drove us in the park where we had a three hour great tour, spotting elephants, hippos, lions, giraffes, crocodiles, impalas and so many other species of the wild nature, respecting though their environment at all times. Finishing the safari tour we had lunch at Cresta Mowana resort by the Chobe river. The variety of the buffet was spectacular! After the lunch, we chilled during a two hour boat safari in the river enjoying the wildlife from another point of view. Lastly, we were driven back to Livingstone following the reverse process. Overall, it was a smooth day trip according to the plan, the guides (like Mateo) were well prepared and tentative while the driver (William) was careful and effective in driving. I fully enjoyed the day and I can certainly suggest it!

The trip to Chobe was fantastic. The two guys who picked us up were punctual and drove us to the Botswana border via the new bridge. It's worth noting that the boat trip and the safari are operated by different companies and intermediaries, so the people who pick you up may not be the same ones who take you on the safari. The only downside was that the game drive safari in Chobe felt a bit rushed, lasting less than two hours. I believe this was because the boat safari ran late after our boat broke down, which caused delays to other activities. However, I can't fault the guys who run this organization—they were polite and well-mannered, truly showcasing the beautiful spirit of the Zambian people! I will definitely be recommending them to everyone interested in going.
Great day out! From the professional pick up, on time, at our lodge to returning home, nothing was a problem for HSM. Easy transfer through immigration into Botswana. Got 2 great games drive, one on land, the other by boat. Guides were professional and knowledgeable and put us onto some great animals. Lion cubs, crocs feeding, baby hippo and elephant. Would definitely recommend
Excellent trip! Really enjoyed wild life. Even saw lions pride with cubs. Lots of elephants with "kids" as well and all sorts of other beasts!:-). Yammy lunch in between 4x4 overland and river parts of the tour. Overall, good value. Easy and fast communication. Great team work. Thank you for experience.
Best view, awesome animal encounter,we were picked up from our hotel at 07:00am,drove to mosi-oa-tunya national park,we did the Game drive and white rhino walking safari,we saw the baby rhino too,it was awesome, lots of impalas, buffalos and zebras, Around 11:00 am,we went to the Falls on the Zambian side, the view was amazing, beautiful nature and the rainbow, then the guide helped us deciding on where we can eat lunch thought it was not included on our package,we went to mukuni Boma,Zambian food was awesome.after lunch we proceeded to the Zimbabwe side of the falls,we walked through the Victoria falls bridge, people were jumping on the bungee,scary..we went to the zim side falls,it was really beautiful..you could see the whole thundering beauty..can’t wait to come with my family again.
We had a nice view and enjoyed our trip. All thanks to HSM adventures fir the great job rendered to us, i recommend them. Really had fun
