Tongabezi Lodge

Due to flight cancelations, our group was seeking one night of accommodation. Although not their usual guests, we were treated wonderfully. The tents were well appointed, food excellent.

Awesome 5 star place. Riverfront location provides a great backdrop to utter luxury! This is a special place! We travel a LOT, and Tongabezi is within our Top 5 in the world. Rooms and suites are gorgeous. Showers exquisite, and the Farm-To-Table experience is so cool! We picked our salad greens and vegetables, then collaborated with the chef on a lovely lunch in the garden.

Hard to pick a favorite. The boat trips on the Zambezi, the visit to Livingstone Island, Victoria Falls, the garden lunch, and the breathtaking sunsets over the river were all unforgettable. The boys absolutely loved swimming in the pools, and we all slept like babies on the wonderfully comfortable beds. Our boys called this place "home" and have been talking non-stop about how much they'll miss this amazing spot, and especially the people of Tongabezi. What talent you have here! Special mention to our guide Brian, our valet Aggrey, Agnes, the incredible kitchen team, and the people quietly taking care of the grounds. Every single one of them made our stay unforgettable. The Garden House was perfect for our family. We gave it a lot of thought but honestly couldn't come up with a single suggestion to improve. I'm a bit lost for words in a good way. Tongabezi was simply incredible in every possible way and at every turn. We stayed in the Nut House and I can't even begin to explain...go to the website and look at the pictures. Now take that level of accommodation and view, and apply it to the people, the food, the grounds, the service, the monkeys, the birds, and every aspect of the lodge. The cruise on the river was just beyond and presented us with a giraffe experience never to be forgotten. A private tour of the gardens while harvesting ingredients was wonderful and eclipsed when the chef created our private lunch at a special garden kitchen and table. I strongly recommend a visit to the nearby village of Simonga to gain perspective on humanity and rural African life. The children there will change your life. Oh how I long to return and relive it all again.
