We had a great food tour experience with Helen as our guide. She was very friendly and very good at showing us the sights around Liverpool as well as introducing us to some new local foods. All the food was delicious and we had plenty to fill us up. We loved her story telling that went along with the history. We would highly recommend this tour.

Itinerary
We meet at the oldest building in Liverpool which was originally built as a school in the 18th century. It is now a centre for arts here in Liverpool. We'll have a walk around this amazing building before sitting down for our first bite which is a local classic.
We have a walk through what at first looks like a shopping street but we'll soon learn the rather sinister past of this area. There's history at every corner in this city and we'll share the stories that not only shaped Liverpool but the whole world, right from these streets.
This is also known as the Merchant's quarter. Both sides of the street have the most amazing 18th century buildings that were originally built for the merchants who made their fortune on the docks. A great street to explore and we have a really friendly food vendor waiting to welcome us into his restaurant.
The oldest Chinatown in the UK has one of the most impressive Chinese arches anywhere in the world. We'll hear about the history of Liverpool's Chinese community and get some delicious bites whilst we're here.
This old church now stands as a memorial to WW2 as well as a cultural space that hosts events and concerts. A really unique part of Liverpool.
This area has some stunning architecture and is also home to Liverpool's most happening street. Amazing restaurants vie for our attention but don't worry, we'll be taking you to one of the city's most loved hidden gems.
Home to one of the best universities in the UK Liverpool's knowledge quarter has some very interesting back streets. From haunted houses to hidden restaurants and one of the most unique graves you'll ever see.

Helen provided fun insights and tastes. Great walkabout. Places we’d wouldn’t have otherwise seen. Fun
Helen was an excellent guide, knowledgeable of the area and chose delicious food selections at every stop. It was a wonderful way to experience Liverpool.
Lovely walk around the city center with a good overview of the history and plenty of anecdotes. Our guide Helen was really good company and she took good care of us. We were looking for an experience that didn’t have too much to do with Beatles or football, so this was a perfect solution.
Fantastic food and drink tour around independent cafes and restaurants in Liverpool’s vibrant city centre with our lovely and knowledgeable host, Helen. Not only included a wide variety of excellent food and drink but also Helen provided us with a lot of interesting historical facts about this amazing city along the way. Highly recommended.
Helen was excellent and friendly. Great food and drink and interesting conversation. Viator is very accommodating. We were running late and were able to send a message and they communicated back to us immediately.
Lovely experience touring Liverpool with Helen. She was a wealth of information and clearly loves her hometown. We enjoyed all of our stops—and the plentiful dishes—the Scouse and Stormy drink was particularly unique. We also got some great recommendations from Helen for later on. Overall, an amazing way to get to know this town!
What a great day exploring Liverpool and discovering new places to eat. Even though we have visited Liverpool before Helen showed us so many different places and gave us fascinating insights into the history of Liverpool. The food stops were superb. Our thanks to Helen for the fun we had on this thoroughly enjoyable experience.
Such a brilliant experience. Helen was so knowledgeable and provided such a great tour with so many details that even a local would be interested in learning. Thank you
Great experience hearing about some of Liverpool's history and culture. Helen was great company and very knowledgeable. The food stops were a great mix of tastes with good quality and variety throughout.
I had a wonderful walking foodie tour through Liverpool with the wonderful Helen! All of the places we ate were delicious and charming and she filled all of the time with history of the area and interesting facts and fun stories! Delicious, entertaining, highly recommend!
Helen was really lovely and she showed us some interesting spots to experience in Liverpool. We got to see hidden gems in Liverpool that we would have never seen or known. Thanks Helen and the Bites Tours team!
We had a great tour with James. High quality food and wine and knowledge of Liverpool's history. Spiced up with fun things we didn't know we were wondering about. Highly recommended!
We had a private walking tour with Charlotte. She provided us with a lot of historical facts and we went to several pubs and restaurants. We really enjoyed the different foods. Charlotte was a great guide.
Great day out for the locals too. Booked this as a birthday treat and was not disappointed. Plenty of food and drink and interesting places and facts from our lovely tour guide Helen.
A fabulous day out incorporating 4 stops, with some great food, and fascinating information! Our guide was knowledgeable and flexible enough to realise that our group was very chatty, tailoring her tour to meet our needs.
We had such a fun day with James! Food was tasty and conversation was even better. We enjoyed the experience and got very lucky to have wonderful weather.
This was an amazing experience with a fantastic guide. He took us to great spots and taught us tons about the city and history of Liverpool. Would 100% recommend it.
We've been to Liverpool numerous times, mainly limited to shopping, however we decided to make a long weekend in the city to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We'd recently been on a food tour in Harrogate and thought we'd try another. Great way to get your city bearings and doing the tour on day one meant we found some hidden local gems that even food critics frequent. (see later). Our host James was excellent, well informed, jovial and true passion for local economy support. We'd booked based on his responses to some of the reviews (witty, matter of fact and polite). The origins of each restaurant stop was explained and that added to the experience. We met at Bluecoats, which was a quiet hidden gem, where we sought sanctuary from the hub of Liverpool One. Unfortunately Scouse was not on the menu, but we weren't disappointed. A short walk to Lunya for a snack and then a brief walk to lunch and onwards. Further hidden gems followed and a "marmite" (love it or hate it) moment at a fantastic restaurant (that you might well pass by) owned by two brothers, whose savoury doughnut invention will test your senses. We loved it. We also hoped that Tom Parker-Bowells (food critic for the Mail) also approved?? On both tours we've met some lovely like minded "foodies" (mostly from Belfast, we must go there next - maybe James can branch out?). We all had different favourites from the tour which is a testament to the variety of food sampled and the city itself for offering it. Thankfully we had a guide, otherwise we'd have probably stuck to the more well trodden food emporiums. Simply excellent.
An amazing afternoon out. The food was incredible and James was a brilliant guide, really interesting knowledge about the area and the places we visited. Will definitely be visiting the places shown again.
Fantastic tour and our guide John was very knowledgeable, engaging and fun to be with. Comes highly recommended .Thank you once more.
I loved our tour with John Lewis today! I learned so many interesting historical details about the city. I also really like that the tour focuses on small businesses—the food at every stop was delicious and at the end I was completely full. I highly recommend this experience!
We had a fantastic time with our guide John Lewis. Not only did we get to sample delicious local food, we learned SO much about the history of Liverpool! Highly recommend!!!
We had a great time on the tour. We live in Liverpool and found some great new places to eat, and lots of history too. The tour took around 3 hours total, with 5 stops and plenty of stories about the city’s culture and history along the way. We tried some new foods we wouldn’t otherwise have tasted (no spoilers included in the review!) and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the city, it was a great way to see some of the sights and get a flavour for the city
Really enjoyable few hours with tour host, James. Plenty of great food in local businesses that we will definitely revisit, while learning about Liverpool history along the way. We wouldn’t have found these places ourselves despite being reasonably regular visitors to Liverpool. I would recommend this tour to anyone, locals, almost locals like ourselves and tourists alike. Thank you, James for a great tour.
Amazing way to experience & explore Liverpool. Saw places/streets I wouldn't have seen otherwise and ate wonderful food along the way. James is an excellent guide.
I lived in this area from 2015-2021, and had never visited any of the places (but one) where we stopped. The mix of walking, sampling food, and learning the history of the city was an absolute treat, even for someone who *thought* they knew the city. Our guide, James, was an absolute delight. Highly Recommend!
The food tour was disappointing. We met at the Bluecoates at 11.30am but were taken straight to the canteen for a bowl of soup and did not get the opportunity to go round the building but instead were then taken immediately to a Spanish delicatessen and given a savoury pastry. A short walk (10 minutes) took us to an Italian cafe for a sandwich tasting which to be fair was very good. But very little information was given on any topic and we were all feeling rather full and disinclined to walk far which was lucky as guess where we went next? A rather grubby Korean cafe where we sat on a bench with no food or drink for 30minutes as the cook was busy before then having a bao bun. The trip continued but and we did get wine at the last venue but it was not what we had expected for £70 each. More information and stories about the areas we visited and a balanced approach to the food sampling would improve the tour.
Brilliant tour. Went to some amazing restaurants and the food was fabulous. Charlotte was a excellent tour guide and made it so enjoyable.
I can't think of a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon in February than this food tour of local little gems that we didn't even know excited in our own city! Charlotte was amazing, so knowledgeable and passionate about not only food but the history of Liverpool too. We will definitely be back to visit all of the places on this tour - I won't spoil it for those who have yet to go but you will love the diversity of the food and atmosphere in the venues. Thanks you Charlotte we had a fabulous time!
Sharlotte was great wery knowledgable We saw Liverpool from a different view wery nice and good food
Was a great tour, James guided us through the city showing us sights with back stories. The food breaks well placed along the walks, with a good variety of foods and drinks (coffee and walnut flavoured tea was my choice, you are not forced into trying but keep an open mind). Some hiddem gems that you may not find by yourself. Fully recommend the scouse (add the pickled cabbage, yummy) . Even used a grade 1 listed toilet! Fully recommend the tour. History lessons included :)
Great experience, food was amazing. The tour was good but the tour guide could have been a little more enthusiastic. She seemed like she couldn’t wait to leave the tour. More drinks could have been provided as this would have made the tour ore relaxed.
Olivia was awesome on the tour. Great locations very informative tour couldn’t ask for a better guide! And she was cute to
We (me and my wife) had a nice experience with Olivia as our tour guide in Liverpool! She skillfully guided us through the city's food "highlights" while sharing stories. The small dishes she introduced us to were a delightful surprise, adding a unique culinary dimension to our tour. The atmosphere was good, making the entire experience memorable. We highly recommend Olivia's tour to anyone looking to explore Liverpool area and local food in an engaging and flavorful way! 👍
