Liverpool With A Local: Daily Walking Tour

This walking tour was perfect to explore Liverpool's history and cultural heritage on the first morning of our weekend visit. Our guide Martin was knowlegeable, passionate and entertaining which made our city walk a great experience. Highly recommended!

Canis was a really engaging, knowledgeable guide. There were only 4 of us booked into this particular session so it felt very personal. It was a very enjoyable 90 minutes. I can highly recommend.

Friendly local guide - very knowledgeable, good overview of the city.’s history. Had the advantage of being in a small group. Not too much walking, just the right length of time - kept my 15 year old son engaged till the end.

Enthusiastic story telling and interesting discussions, but lots of bold and potentially dubious claims on Liverpool facts. We felt we didn't come away with much accurate knowledge of Liverpool history. Plenty of good information on geography of city.

We had a exceptional walking tour around Liverpool with Martin. He kept us entertained with his stories about the importance of the city, and we learned a lot about the history.

I took my three grandchildren for a walking tour of Liverpool as a treat before they returned to school. I was really pleased by the tour itself, its itinerary but most of all by the guide, Martin. he was knowledgable, informative, and funny. I've lived near Liverpool for more than 10 years, but Martin showed me areas of Liverpool I had no idea about nor knew about their past. I was pleased that he had a broad focus on the history and people of Liverpool as I was concerned there might be too much about the Beatles. A further shout out to Martin for his patience with me and my grandchildren from the outset as I went to the wrong starting point. Staff at his main office actually answered the phone and contacted Martin to let us know we'd been delayed and make arrangements to meet elsewhere. All in all, a great morning, most appreciated. Thx!

All in all, the tour was really great. At the start, we wondered around for a bit cause we were unsure of the meeting point, but once our guide arrived he was easy to spot. Because no one else signed up we had a lovely little private tour and got around the city pretty easy. The guide gave us some great ideas for our next few days in Liverpool. If you want to know more about the history of Liverpool without too much information about the Beatles this tour might be just right for you.

Martin Ryan was a truly outstanding guide on our walking tour of Liverpool last week. We were fortunate to be the only two booked on. As a result, we had the privilege of Martin's exclusive attention. He has such a sparkling personality with an engaging and infectious enthusiasm for the history of Liverpool. His knowledge was encyclopaedic, and he clearly has an expansive general knowledge too, as we learned from discussing lots of associated topics on the journey around the city. Although this was our fourth visit to Liverpool, Martin taught us so many new things about places with great historical significance, which are often overlooked on a walk around the city. Martin really made our day in Liverpool, and we feel blessed to have enjoyed his company on exploring this magnificent city. We can’t recommend this experience enough! Outstanding!!

The walking tour gives you a quick, great introduction to various historical and significant explanations of how and why Liverpool is what it is. Very informative tour and Liverpool was much more interesting and enjoyable than if I tried to look at things on my own. The guide, Martin, was great. I was glad I went, and it was totally worth it.

Martin was brilliant! Our German guests could understand everything, Martin spoke clearly and was very informative and entertaining. The tour was a good mix of history, The Beatles highlights and pop culture of the city. Being from Lancashire I also learnt a lot about the city I didn't know! I will definitely be back again soon (next time shopping with my daughter!)

It was just myself and a friend on the tour but we were greeted by two guides! Martin and Canice both turned up and we enjoyed their company for the tour, each enthusiastically telling us much about this lovely city. A great walking tour showcasing the different aspects of the city, its history, its culture and its people both past and present. Good value for money and time well spent.

Despite there only being my wife and I on the tour (it was midweek in December!) we had a great time. Even though I'm from Liverpool our guide, Martin, was able to point out interesting things I didn't know. The walk itself was not too taxing and the hour and a half went by in a flash. Great value for money and well worth it if you know nothing about Liverpool's history or, even if you think you know it all - like me - you probably don't

Martin did an outstanding job. Very informative, highly irreverent which was fantastic. Total walking distance was quite manageable so I would recommend this for anyone who can walk a mile. Interesting connection between Liverpool and the Confederacy during the American Civil War, ask Martin to tell you the story. Well worth the price of admission.
