Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa

Fabulous afternoon in the spa and followed by afternoon tea in the restaurant. The facilities and staff were excellent. Angelique in the spa team was fantastic and did my massage and facial! As someone living in Crosby for over 10 years I’ve never been here before but I will definitely be back!

Absolutely shocking. Hotel is nice, reception staff lovey, pool etc could do with a bit of a touch up but overall really nice. Restaurant - nope!! Food was ok at best, service absolutely dreadful. Waited an hour just for starters, and when we complained to the restaurant manager (after already speaking to 2 members of staff) he was totally disinterested and responded with ‘they are plating it up now’, no apology offered. Mains arrived, ordered steak with garlic butter sauce, what arrived was a steak with a hockey puck of butter on top that was never going to melt, not a sauce. They removed the service charge from the bill, that was the apology. Would not return, which is a shame as it’s a really nice place with lovely views of the golf course. Stay was lovely, but book elsewhere if you plan to eat

We stayed at Formby Hall the night before our wedding, and overall we had a really lovely stay. Our room overlooked the golf course, which was a fantastic view, and the hotel itself was spotlessly clean. The leisure facilities were brilliant, and all the staff we encountered were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The setting for breakfast was also lovely, overlooking the golf course and watching the players out on the green. Unfortunately, this was the one real disappointment of our stay. The buffet breakfast was very inconsistent — some items were part-warm, some were hot, while others were genuinely cold. For a hotel of this standard, we expected the breakfast to match the quality of everything else. Personally, I’d much rather have breakfast brought to the table if it meant it was served fresh and hot — something you can even get at a Premier Inn. The other area that really needs attention is the WiFi and phone signal. Both were dreadful during our stay, and I had to stand by the window just to get a decent phone signal. In this day and age, particularly for a hotel of this standard, I think this is something that really needs looking at. That said, aside from those two issues, we really enjoyed our stay. It’s a beautiful hotel, the facilities are excellent, our room had a great view and the staff were fantastic. With improvements to the breakfast and connectivity, it would be a very difficult place to fault.

I had a fantastic stay at Formby Hall Resort, made even better by the outstanding service from Ashish. Ashish went above and beyond by rearranging our bedroom to ensure we had the best possible night’s sleep. Nothing was too much trouble, and his attention to detail, professionalism, and genuine desire to help really stood out. The resort itself is excellent, with great facilities, a relaxing atmosphere, and a team that clearly cares about delivering a first-class guest experience. It’s always the people who make the biggest difference, and Ashish is a real credit to Formby Hall. Thank you again for the exceptional service. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Formby Hall Resort and look forward to returning.
