Chiado is a historic and fashionable neighborhood in the center of Lisbon, Portugal, known for its vibrant cultural scene, elegant architecture, and cosmopolitan atmosphere. Situated between the neighborhoods of Baixa and Bairro Alto, Chiado has long been a hub for artists, intellectuals, and creatives. The area is famous for its beautiful squares, traditional cafés, art galleries, theaters, and luxury shops. Landmark sites include the historic Café A Brasileira, the famous Livraria Bertrand (the world's oldest operating bookstore), and the São Carlos Theater. Chiado blends Lisbon's rich cultural heritage with modern sophistication, offering a dynamic mix of old and new, where historic buildings coexist with contemporary design. It's also a popular spot for both locals and tourists, providing a lively yet refined setting for dining, shopping, and entertainment.
Bairro Alto is a historic and lively neighborhood in the heart of Lisbon, Portugal, renowned for its vibrant nightlife, bohemian atmosphere, and rich cultural heritage. Perched on one of Lisbon’s seven hills, Bairro Alto is a maze of narrow, cobblestone streets filled with an eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary establishments, including bars, restaurants, and boutique shops. It is particularly famous for its thriving nightlife scene, attracting both locals and tourists with its abundance of Fado music venues, trendy bars, and late-night cafes. Despite its lively reputation, Bairro Alto has a long history that dates back to the 16th century, and its charming buildings, with colorful facades and wrought-iron balconies, reflect the neighborhood’s character. By day, Bairro Alto offers a more relaxed atmosphere, with antique shops, art galleries, and cozy cafes, but as evening falls, the area transforms into one of Lisbon’s most animated spots.
Baixa is the downtown district of Lisbon, Portugal, and serves as the commercial and architectural heart of the city. Known for its grand, neoclassical buildings, wide boulevards, and elegant squares, Baixa was extensively rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake, which destroyed much of the older part of the city. This reconstruction, led by the Marquis of Pombal, transformed Baixa into a well-planned grid of streets that remain one of Lisbon’s most important urban landmarks. Baixa is home to some of Lisbon’s most famous squares, such as Praça do Comércio, a majestic riverside square, and Rossio Square, a lively hub surrounded by cafés and shops. The district is also known for its beautiful Arco da Rua Augusta, a monumental arch leading to the river, and the Santa Justa Lift, an iconic wrought-iron elevator offering views of the city. Today, Baixa is a bustling, modern center with a mix of retail shops, restaurants, and offices, while still retaining a sense of its historical grandeur.
The Basilica of Saint Mary Major of Lisbon, or Sé de Lisboa, is the metropolitan cathedral and patriarchal seat of the city of Lisbon, Portugal. Its construction began in 1148, one year after Afonso Enriques conquered the city. It is considered the oldest church in Lisbon.

Located in the Graça neighborhood of Lisbon, Portugal, the Miradouro Nossa Senhora do Monte is one of the city's most iconic viewpoints. It offers stunning panoramic views of Lisbon and the Tagus River, combining a profound history with scenic beauty. This place is a testament to Lisbon's rich history and cultural heritage, making it a must-see for anyone exploring the city's historical sites.
Graça is a traditional and vibrant neighborhood in Lisbon, Portugal, known for its rich history, narrow cobbled streets, and breathtaking panoramic views of the city. Located on one of Lisbon’s seven hills, it offers a mix of old-world charm and modern-day appeal, with a strong sense of local community. The area is famous for its historical landmarks, such as the Graça Church and the National Pantheon, as well as its lively atmosphere, with numerous cafes, restaurants, and viewpoints (miradouros) that attract both locals and visitors. Graça is often considered a more authentic and less touristy part of Lisbon, offering a glimpse into the city’s traditional life while being well-connected to other parts of the city. The neighborhood is a blend of old and new, with residential areas, local markets, and street art contributing to its distinct character.
The Monastery of São Vicente de Fora is located on high ground at the intersection of Lisbon's historic neighborhoods of Graça and Alfama. It is called "de fora" because, in addition to being outside the city walls, the parish on which it stood was not at that time under the jurisdiction of the Lisbon bishop.
The National Pantheon of Portugal (Panteão Nacional, in Portuguese) is located in the parish of São Vicente de Fora, Lisbon, specifically in the Church of Santa Engrácia. The current building stands on the site where a church had already been erected in 1568, by order of Infanta Maria, daughter of King Manuel I, on the occasion of the creation of the parish of Santa Engrácia.
The Chafariz de El-Rei was the first public ornamental fountain in the city of Lisbon. It was built in the 13th century during the reigns of Afonso III and Denis I, taking advantage of the excellent groundwater of Alfama.

Our guide, Dmytro, was amazing. Even though he wasn’t feeling 100% he still gave over 100%. He had so many stories and history to share. He asked what sort of tour we’d like at the start and adapted to us. He was good with the kids, we had 2 under 10s with us. 2 hours felt like a great amount of time as he showed us all the highlights and best viewpoints. Though kids might have preferred a slightly shorter tour, I could’ve happily had a longer one. Definitely glad I booked this tour rather than try one of the tuktuks on the street as they were charging a ridiculous amount. Easy to find location with pictures and maps provided to find it. However it felt dicey entering the underground car park as the stairs and lift areas are used by drunk/homeless (?) people. Couldn’t get down one set of stairs due to someone sleeping and the other stairs were covered in sick. The lift areas also had someone sleeping there. Not the greatest experience when you have 2 children with you. Would’ve preferred a different meeting location.
I was worried 2 hours would be too long, but João did a great job of keeping things at an appropriate pace. The time flew by! He was very knowledgeable about both historical and current events and we learned so much from him. Definitely time and money well spent.
Fun and informative tour with Tiago ! Great way to get around Lisbon and discover the city. We recommend a private tour.
Best experience and very knowledgeable guide.
Our Guide was friendly and very helpful. A nice trip around Lisbon. A beautiful city, plenty to see, great food. Thank you!
A great 2 hour overview of the most notable sites of Lisbon. Our driver, Yuri, was really friendly, informative and helpful. His commentary really added to the experience. We really enjoyed the experience.
Wonderful tour guide. Very knowledgeable. Took us all over and gave us a good overview of Lisbon. We had just landed and were glad for all the information highly recommend
Good way to get overview of Lisbon and some history. Good introduction Guide was knowledgeable but not overly engaging. A suggestion for all our private guides. We had 3. None asked our names or where we were from. As seniors they never asked if they needed to speak louder or use a microphone. All spoke with their heads turned away from us. All need better guide training.
We needed two tuktuks for our group and our trip leaders were great. They took us to a little secret garden bar with a fabulous view as an added bonus. Nice intro to the city at the beginning of our stay.
Andre was so informative and nice. Great tour hit all the highlights in an hour. I recommend for sure.
Oliver was very personable and well informed. Terrific ride. Maybe a bit better meeting location direction.
Very good experience the tour guy Joseph was very familiar with the city and very friendly I loved the tour.
Our driver tailored the tour to our interests and dealt with factors that could have restricted our access to parts of the city. He took lots of pictures of us at various locales.
Our tour with Victor was amazing. He was so informative and funny. He took us all over Lisbon providing a lot of history and background. The end of the day was awesome when we got our pastels!
We had a great tour with Kristina. Kristina took extra time to discuss the various sights and history of Lisbon.
This is a MUST for your first day in Lisboa. On our 2 hour tour, we saw so much of the city and learned a lot about its fascinating history. Carlos was an excellent guide and Eco tours were great to work with.
Our driver was not well versed in the information. He sounded like he had a script memorized. He could not answer some simple questions about Lisbon when we asked him. He was nice but he had not lived there long and just didn’t seem as knowledgeable as past Tuk Tuk tours we have taken. Some neighborhoods there did not seem to be a reason to drive through them.
It was a beautiful day for an open air TukTuk, which could maneuver well through narrow city streets. Our guide, Hugo, was a wonderful guide....friendly, knowledgeable, able to communicate in English for us, gracious, thoughtful. We would highly recommend this tour and this guide. Thank you.
Arthur, our guide, led our fabulous tour. His first-hand experience and his historical knowledge made for a lovely afternoon. Arthur was professional and personable. Our 3 hour tour was a highlight of our visit to Lisbon.
This was such a fun experience. Arthur was our tour guide and he provided us so much information. He was funny and personable. This is the best way to get to see all of Lisbon. I would recommend this to anyone!
We could not have had a better welcome tour to Lisbon. Arthur was cheerful, welcoming, knowledgeable and very humorous! What a winning combination! He gave us the star treatment and we walked away with a greater appreciation of the beauty and history of Lisbon.
Outstanding experience with our guide Margarida. She was so knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend this experience to see Lisbon.
A highlight of our trip! I highly recommend this experience and ask for Arthur. He was a wonderful person and guide, and this was the perfect way to start our Portugal journey!
Really good tour with a perfect guide. Tnks Tiago
We had Arthur as our guide on this incredible tour. What an amazing experience! Full of history, knowledge and information about Lisbon and Portugal, it was a great way to become acquainted with the city and country Would definitely recommend taking this tour
An excellent introduction to Lisbon. An easy, informative, enjoyable way for two senior couples to get a close look at this beautiful city with a knowledgeable guide. Would definitely recommend.
This was a great way to get to know the city when we first arrived. Our guide was very knowledgeable and gave us great tips for our stay.
Comprehensive tour of major areas of Lisbon. Guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the city and the current vibes of the neighborhoods. Very pleasant guide!
Terrific tour of Lisbon with our excellent guide, Tiago. He is so knowledgeable and interesting and a great Tuk Tuk driver as well. Definitely a highlight of our trip to Lisbon. Highly recommend.
This was an amazing tour with our guide Arthur. He was a very safe driver and so knowledgeable about the history of the cities we toured. We learned so much in a short time while having a great time. I would highly recommend requesting Arthur if you want someone to guide you versus just driving you around. His food and city recommendations were also spot on.
The guide/driver, Diego did a great job explaining the history of Lisbon and Portuguese culture along with driving me all over the city and showing both the well-known spots as well as some hidden gems.
Johnny was and excellent guide. He spoke fantastic English and was very knowledgeable about Lisbon. The tour included many stops and Johnny was able to tell us not only the history but current affairs having to do with many of the stops. Highly recommend this tour and getting Johnny as your guide.
Arthur was a fantastic guide. We saw and learned so much. Incredibly engaging. Highly recommended
Hugo provided an excellent introductory tour of Lisbon. The Tuk Tuk enabled us to get throughout the Centro district and see many sites we would have otherwise had difficulty reaching or would not even known about. Hugo was very knowledgeable and shared extensive information about Lisbon and its history. This was a very enjoyable and informative tour.
Our guide Arthur was very knowledgeable, clearly spoked also quite humoures 10 out of 10. Beware roads are bumpy
Wonderful orientation to Lisbon with great historical and local information. Arthur was spirited, informative and friendly. Highly recommend!
Booked this and got off the cruise ship. Easy to find. Made lots of stops for us to take pictures and we learned a lot of information
Driver very friendly, very informative and very considerate. Great journey. He knew a great deal of the history of Lisbon.
Giato was super knowledgeable, flexible and friendly! We had a great time
We had an amazing experience on our Tuk-Tuk tour of Lisbon! Our guide, Jefferson, did an incredible job showing us around the city and educating us about the history, culture, and sights along the way. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the tour fun and interesting. We learned so much and got to see parts of Lisbon we probably would have missed on our own. We highly recommend this tour—and especially Jefferson as a guide!
Tour guide is very knowledgeable and speaks excellent English. The ride through old town is very bumpy.
Fun & informative. Very friendly driver & good service. I was the only passenger, so I was indulged with all my questions being answered straight away.
Great way to see many of Lisbon's sights without walking. Yuri was a wonderful tour guide, friendly and knowledgeable.
We didn’t have much time in Lisbon before our cruise so this was an excellent way to see it. Our guide Ruben was so enthusiastic & so informed!
Our driver was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. She was very personable and pleasant. We enjoyed our time with her. It was a great way to see the city -better than hop on /off where we had this driver to ourselves and could get to spots the buses could not.
Arthur was a great your guide. He was very informative and known all aspects of the tour. Highly recommend him as everyone tour guide. Thank you !!
Excellent way to see the highlights of Lisbon. Our driver/guide Lucas was fabulous. He was very informative about the history, art and culture.
Vasco was a wonderful guide! He went out of his way to make it a great experience!
Exceeded our expectations. Hugo was an amazing guide and really made the experience for us. His English is excellent and he has great insight on the city and its history. Highly recommend and if you’re English speaking ask for Hugo as your guide. You won’t be disappointed
