We booked with RM Cesar, and this was a private tour, just myself and my friend. We throughly enjoyed the day, it felt more like site seeing with a family friend. Cesar was knowledgeable, provided some great tips on where to concentrate our time when visiting Tomar and Obidos. Would highly recommend him.

We had a perfect day with Csar. We had an hour and a half drive from Lisbon to Tomar and Csar was very engaging with the history of the area. Perfect for U.S. history buffs. We were able to discuss many other topics which made the trip just fly by. The crown jewel of the trip was the Convent of Christ which is a must for history, architecture, and Knights Templar buffs. We also journeyed to Balhatra and Obidos. Obidos was particularly charming. Highly recommend this trip and Csar!

César is an exceptional guide, with extensive historical and local knowledge. Additionally, we found our conversations with him to be wide-ranging, informative and enjoyable. Amazing. Truly an amazing experience. Our guide João was a great storyteller who kept us entertained while driving us from town to town and by the time we arrived at each of the sites on our itinerary, we had the basic knowledge of what we were about to see. It made each site so much more interesting.

We really enjoyed our private tour as it exceeded our expectations. I would give this company 10 stars if I could! What an amazing experience we had with our guide Fabio! He was kind, courteous and professional while sharing his extensive knowledge of Portugal history and culture with us. The vehicle for our private tour was in immaculate condition and Fabio was a great driver. We covered 4 locations in one day - Tomar, Batalha, Obidos and Nazare - each with its unique charm and we loved our entire experience from the first moment we met Fabio till the very end when he kindly dropped us off at our restaurant (we had reservations at for dinner). If you are in Lisbon and looking for a tour company that gives amazing private tours, look no further! These are your guys! Thank you very much for the beautiful day today, it is definitely a highlight from our trip to Portugal.

Enjoyed this tour very much. The guide was great. I enjoyed Tomar and Ódidos very much. The Convent of Christ was the highlight in Tomar.

The area was breathtaking. Especially around Nazaré - the surfing, lighthouse, and immense waves. . I did think the Castle of Óbidos was too commercial. Tomar was fantastic. The guide is personable, knowledgeable, and engaging. I’m sorry. I writing this and his name eludes me. However, for your consideration, the Castle Óbidos is too commercial.

César gave hubby and I a magnificent day! Picked up at our hotel, driven in the comfort of his Jaguar, gave us a ton of information on the way to our various destinations (Tomar-Batahla-Obidos) gave us all the time we needed to explore each and took us back to our hotel. What a day! Thank you César!

Favio was very pleasant and knowledgeable. The trip was well planned out. The car was comfortable and clean. He spoke English very well. He took us to some great sites and explained everything very well.

Joao was fabulous. He shared so much history and he was so very accommodating to my physical handicap. Joao went out of his way to show us special sites. This was an excursion of a lifetime and my husband and I highly recommend this tour.

I selected this tour because it included all the spots I wanted to see without including places I didn't want to spend time visiting. The communication with RM Cesar was easy and efficient. He met us at the designated spot on time and we were in Rui's capable hands the rest of the day. Rui is a proud Portuguease man and a font of historical and cultural knowledge about Portugal. We hit all the spots and the plan for the day was very clear and exactly what we wanted. We felt he was a safe driver and negotiated all the crowds and time frames with ease and expertise. It was a wonderful day and a memorable part of the trip. We were particularly thrilled to visit the Convento de Christo and Batalha.

Tomar was the highlight of the day The Convent of Christ was amazing as were the old castle walls. So much history there. I particularly enjoyed Rui’s commentaries as we drove along on each site and its history. Once we had arrived I was ready to go! Obidos was a gorgeous walled town. Very picturesque Nazare is where the massive waves come in each winter. A surfers paradise. Thanks for a great day. I really appreciated your careful driving and friendly nature.

As a general rule I don't do reviews - either positive or negative, but am making an exception in the hopes of helping other travelers plan and for the tour company to do better in the future. Our tour was organized by RM Cesar company. As others have said, this really isn't a tour - it's more of a ride to the places in the description. To that end we were picked from our hotel on time in a nice vehicle. I believe our driver tried to give some interesting information, but from what my son told me it was not cohesive. My son was the only person in the vehicle who could hear because he was sitting in the front seat. No one else in the van could hear what the driver was saying. My biggest complaint is that the driver was not a good driver. When talking the driver was waving his hands around and once when pointing at something the van went over the rumble strip on the side of the road before he regained control and brought it back to the middle of the lane. The driver was also constantly yawning and nearly fell asleep at the wheel on the way home. The trip experience could be enhanced by a knowledgeable guide who could also lead participants through the sites. All that said this is far for a day trip requiring quite a lot of windshield time - look carefully at the itinerary posted in the description. The convent, castle and monastery were ok - not really sure they were worth the time/expense. The other stops were really just going to town to eat/shop/look around. On this same trip to Lisbon we did a full day tour to Sintra, Cascais, Cabo da Roca and Pena Palace. Less driving & the guided palace tour was a treat!

Cesar is a true professional with real expertise. This experience is one I will keep with me forever. His advice and knowledge is excellent. He knows how to navigate around crowds to ensure you are able to see everything without long lines. That really maximizes your time and makes it truly captivating without any distractions. If you head to Portugal you should be in touch with Cesar to book a guided experience as you will not be disappointed.

The guide was fantastic. With great knowledge of history and culture and a great love for Portugal. I recommend it to the fullest. It was the highlight of my visit to Portugal. Thank you for the wonderful experience. We will be back and will book another tour with this company.

This is not a guided tour be aware,, this tour missed a guid on site specially in Tomar. The company provided a knowledgeable driver NOT a guid, and a rich site like TOMAR needs an experienced guide.

Cesar was super knowledgeable of the history behind Portugal and all the sites we visited. He kept the longer drive very interesting and was sure to highlight the areas he thought we should focus on. My suggestion before booking the tour is to research the listed sites before booking the tour. Cesar would often chime in on parts of the tour he thought were skippable (likely based on other tour feedback or his own opinion), but most of the time we very much enjoyed those parts. Not a huge critique of Cesar, just more of a friendly warning to others to plan ahead so you get the most out of your tour. Overall we enjoyed our tour and learning about the vast knowledge of Portugal that Cesar had to offer.

Cesar was incredible. He arrived in a beautiful car on a beautiful day; and despite some traffic issues due to construction, he helped us to see the entire itinerary. He was timely and knew the best places to get the most beautiful photos. Everywhere we went we arrived before the crowds. He was so kind and knowledgeable, my friend and I learned so much from him about local Portuguese history. Thank you, Cesar.

We could not have asked for a more perfect tour. Our guide Cesar was as perfect a guide as one could hope for. Not only was he a wealth of knowledge about the sites we visited, he gave us much information beforehand as we drove that helped familiarize us with the country’s historical background. My husband and I are both huge history buffs, and Cesar gave us so many pieces of Portugal’s history that previously we had not known. Cesar is extremely articulate and communicates in an easy-to-understand manner. His passion for history is very evident and he made the whole day so interesting and fun. He has a zeal for life that makes the day lively. As a side note, he shared interesting notes about what life is like in Portugal. His family’s roots are in Portugal, so he was able to provide us with a clear understanding of the area’s past as well as its present existence. I can’t recommend this tour enough! Thank you, Cesar, for being a highlight of our trip!

Although the ride was lovely and the sights beautiful, particularly Óbidos we did not get much information about history , facts. We traveled in a luxurious Jaguar and the driver, Pedro, was very polite and friendly , and although we knew the tours inside the castle or churches would not be guided, we were expecting he would be able to offer more knowledge to our trip. In my case, I got a very comfortable ride to both cities.

Our driver was amazing! He gave us a history lesson about Portugal that was very enlightening. He was always on time, the vehicle was immaculate, and he was pleasant to converse with.

Fabio was professional, courteous, and a wealth of information on all aspects of our Tomar, Obidos, and Nazare tour. We enjoyed our tour immensely and highly recommend this tour to others.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with guide Cesar! He was very friendly with a great sense of humor, and we learned a lot about Portuguese culture! The jaguar was really nice and comfy too! Cesar generally didn’t go into the monuments with us, but gave us good information prior to each visit, and it was nice having the chance to explore the sites on our own. I would highly recommend both this itinerary and Cesar!! Thank you!

Mr Caesar picked us up from the hotel promptly. He is very friendly and knowledgeable. He points out the various viewpoints for us to take beautiful pictures. We have good memories of our visit to Tomar, Batalha, Nazaré and Óbidos. The weather was hot but we had an air conditioned drive and Mr Cesar provided us with cold water.

Loved seeing the sights but guide, Christina, was not informative about them. Other guides have gone with us and have given us a wealth of knowledge.

Caesar is great. He knows the history of Portugal and keeps it interesting during the trip. Car is really comfortable and he will let you have some unscheduled stops if you like. You won’t be disappointed x

This is a wonderful tour where you have the opportunity to visit a lot of great locations that would be difficult to reach by public transportation from Lisbon. It is a nice way to experience several smaller towns each with their own charm. The guide was very professional, punctual and always looking to share more about the history of the country. I highly recommend this activity if you are looking to visit other towns beyond Lisbon.

Simply put, the trip was excellent. Joao and Cesar were informative and passionate guides, and accommodated our desired trip modifications (less time here, more time here, etc.). They didn't stress over small delays caused by us, and were focused ensuring we had a nice time. Don't hesitate to book this tour!

This was an ambitious day of sightseeing, but, it was a great look at medieval and historical Portugal away from Lisbon. The tour guide had a great command of English, was personable, and was attentive to my son's food allergies and to my mom's mobility issues. We also never felt rushed in spite of all that we saw.

The transportation was great and the sites were lovely. We unfortunately were hoping for more historical information. Left feeling a little under whelmed.

Lovely day on the Tomar trip with our guide. Got to see so much and timings at each stop were perfect. Knowledgeable and experienced, Cesar gave us lots of tips on what to see (and avoid)! Great company.

Toured the beautiful town of Obidos and Tomar with Cesar and I highly recommend. Very comfortable car ride with great personalized service and recommendations!! These towns are beautiful!! My sister and I traveled during the off season and we are so glad we did. I don’t care to compete with large crowds for bathrooms, restaurants, etc..

Our tour guide Joao did a great job explaining the various sites as well as Portuguese history throughout our tour. I really enjoyed all of the stops on this trip so it’s hard to pick a favorite. The Convent of Christ in Tomar was very impressive. We had a great lunch at a restaurant on the beach in Nazare recommended by Joao. A lot of variety in the different stops. I’ve never done a tour like this before but I would definitely do one with RM Cesar again.

Today I travelled to Tomar, Batalha, and Obidos with Cesar. Cesar is a wealth of historical and current Portuguese knowledge, a great conversationalist, a supremely considerate gentleman, and a ton of fun! I look forward to joining Cesar on more Portugal tours!

Day trip from Lisbon during port stop. Excellent guide but itinerary was too ambitious for available time. Otherwise, 5 Stars. Better to stay overnight in Obidos. Cesar, our guide, was enthusiastic, proud of his country and knowledgeable. His Jaguar sedan is very comfortable.

Cristina was our tour guide/ driver for the day and she was fantastic! She punctual, polite, courteous and eager to help. We try to do a lot e day so private tour is the only opt spot. They customized or itinerary so we did what we are most interested. Portugal has so much see .Booking a tour with RM Cesar s the way to go. Highly recommended. I will definitely do it again.

We thoroughly enjoyed visiting the sites of the magnificent monastery in Tomar, the cathedral in Batalha, and the charming medieval village of Obidos. Cesar was very polite and offered great insights into Portuguese history and culture.All accomplished while riding in a very comfortable Jaguar. Obrigado!

Cesar was interesting, knowledgeable and went out of his way to see to our comfort and enjoyment of the day. He noticed that I have a balky knee and made sure to park as close as possible and limit the amount of walking on uneven surfaces.

Perfect day trip. It started with great communication and punctuality, and a very comfortable vehicle. Cesar is fluent in English which was also helpful. Then the tour itself was well designed, with great destinations that were connected geographically or course, but also historically. Almost as if they were part of the same story. We were even given options (to visit Nazaré or not) and distribute the time accordingly. We enjoyed our day immensely thanks to a well designed and executed tour. We will come back.

Thanks to our superb tour guide Cesar! Our second day in Lisbon began with a tour to Obidos, Batalha, and Tomar! The locations were stunning but the additional pleasure was having a fantastic tour guide that was genuinely multi-lingual with a vast knowledge on Portuguese history and culture while providing flexibility in our travel. It was a fantastic experience and I would recommend to everyone.
