We spent an amazing day visiting Alcobaca, Batalha and Tomar with Vera! Her warm and friendly personality made us immediately feel at home. It was like traveling with a friend who also happens to know absolutely everything about the places you are visiting! Vera provided just the right level of history and detail while also weaving in stories of the people and culture. We came away with an overall understanding without getting overwhelmed. Vera is also a fantastic photographer! She took many memorable photos of my husband and I and also pointed out the best spots for taking our own photos. The pace was perfect, with a little time to explore on our own in each town. We only wish we had booked more days with Vera and Goncalo.

We recently booked a tour with Windland Tours to visit the three stunning UNESCO monasteries in Portugal, and the experience exceeded all of our expectations. From the very beginning, the booking process and logistics were seamless, making our journey completely stress-free. Vera, our tour guide was absolutely phenomenal. Her deep knowledge, passion for Portuguese history, and brilliant storytelling brought these sacred and historic spaces to life. Instead of just looking at beautiful architecture, we truly understood the spiritual and historical significance behind every stone. She was also incredibly patient, attentive, and warm, ensuring everyone in our group had a wonderful experience Windland Tours handled all the details perfectly, allowing us to just relax and take in the journey. If you want a seamless, enriching, and high-quality tour in Portugal, look no further. Highly recommended!
Took this private tour as well as a full day at Porto with Goncalo. His professionalism is unparalleled, his storytelling about Portugal's history was most enjoyable, we wanted more. Very friendly. Well deserved praise for a job well done. We highly recommend him and his team to anyone travelling to Portugal.
Vera is a wonderful guide. She reached out to me to introduce herself after I booked my tour to confirm details. She is an interesting storyteller of history in person. It was a delight to spend the day with her and the tour was masterfully handled to insure all three UNESCO sites got an adequate treatment. It was alot to do in one day, but so glad I took this trip!
Our experience was incredible. It was such a pleasure to have Vera as our guide. I had a feeling that we were able to see more than other visitors, find all those hidden symbols. It is precious when you meet people like Vera who are so passionate and have amazing personality. I am sure my visit would not be so enjoyable if it was not for her. I highly recomend this tour.
Fantastic day trip from Lisbon. The history, scenery and churches were excellent. Goncalo was a really good guide and is very knowledgeable about many things about Portugal in addition to the 3 sites we visited. Well worth the time.
My family and I (2 adults, 3 kids - 17/14/11) had an amazing day with Vera. She was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and had a great sense of humor. The tour was well paced, we never felt rushed or bored. Vera was a safe driver and by the end of the trip we said goodbye to a friend. Highly recommend!
The three monuments were amazing and truly worth a visit. Our tour guide Gonçalo was very knowledgeable and nice. He gave us plenty of good stories about the monuments and the cities we visited, recommended good picture spots for our family. I will definitely recommend.
Incredible tour, full of interesting history and architecture. The monasteries were inspiring. Golzalo was an excellent guide, quite knowledgeable, flexible and personable. The pace was relaxed. Highly recommended.
My tour guide was Vera who promptly picked me up at my hotel in Lisbon. Vera has a wealth of knowledge about Portugal, both historical and contemporary. She also has an excellent command of the English language, so our long drive to Tomar and from Alcobaca were filled with lots of conversation about a wide variety of topics. When visiting the monasteries, she pointed out lots of fascinating details and knew where to take the photographs. I emphatically endorse this tour with Vera.
Our tour guide was really knowledgeable and friendly. The chapel and Tomar was one of the highlights of our trip.
We just finished several excellent days with Goncalo of Windland tours. We particularly loved the trip to the old monasteries. Goncalo had great stories and insight into the life and times of the kings and queens of 100s of years ago. He brings history alive. These places are not to be missed and Goncalo enhanced our visit greatly. We also went with Goncalo to Douro River and used his services on several other occasions . A friendly, relaxed, capable person
We really liked this one day tour, Vera was an amazing guide, very knowledgeable, punctual and nice. Comfortability, flexibility and excellent a service would be the words that best describe our experience. Super recommended for all types of groups!
Our guide, Vera, is amazing! And even though she's a historian that knows her stuff, the pace and delivery of the information was clear, not too much to get any information overload, and delivered in a manner that could pass off as a National Geographic narrator. We especially love the narrated history at Tomar in such a dramatic manner. We covered the 3 UNESCO sites and she was so nice to throw in an extra site because we said we had no time to slot it into our hectic Portugal itinerary, which was a very nice personal touch. We paid extra to be dropped-off in Lisbon and we kept recalling back her stories whenever we visited other parts of historical Lisbon as alot of their history are connected. That's the power of Vera's history delivery as we'd probably forget most of the information compared to other tour guides we've experienced. I would highly recommend this tour, and you'd be in for a treat if you get Vera as your guide!
This tour was spectacular, both for the script as well as the knowledge, sympathy, patience of the guide Gonçalo Oliveira, driving with care always attending me as well as two friends in everything we needed. The Enterprise is commended to have a highly trained professional. Note 1000.
We made two private tours with the Windland. The tour to the 3 monasteries is excellent, we were led by Pita and guided by Vera, Cover of a fantastic knowledge. Besides the knowledge was extremely friendly and caring with our group. Super recommend this tour. We were excited and took a second walk, we went to know the palace of Mafra and went to Evora, which despite being very hot, is a charming city. On this tour our driver was Carlos and our guide was again Vera. Thank you for the wonderful moments provided to us. I highly recommend these tours in adorable company of Vera.
It was our second time in Portugal and the first with a guided tour! Oh if we knew before how wonderful it would be!! We did the Battle-Tomar-Alcobaça Tour with Vera: Prior to the day of the tour the email communication was promptly answered!! We changed the day of the tour a few times without problems on the part of the team...very careful!! We went by bus from Lisbon to Battle where she met us and took us to have a delicious coffee with sandwiches before we started...What a welcome!! Vera is an excellent guide and companion: she explains the entire history of the monuments with details...secrets...curiosities...A Primor! There was a bottle of water in the car for each of us. At the end of the day, Vera gently took us to Óbidos where we took a Ginjinha together to say goodbye... we took our tour of Óbidos and then we took the bus back to Lisbon!! A memorable day!! We are very grateful to Vera and the staff for this. Certainly, when we return to Portugal, we will schedule other tours with you!!
