Sintra Small Group Tour: Cascais, Regaleira, Cabo Da Roca

Sure We booked a private tour to Sintra and had a wonderful time. Our driver, Nadia, was excellent, so friendly and helpful. She gave us a great recommendation for a restaurant too, which made the day even better. The tour was excellent value for money, and we really enjoyed every moment. Highly recommend Nadia!

Subject: Formal Complaint and Request for Full Refund – Sintra Small Group Tour Dear Viator Customer Service, I am writing to formally complain about our experience on the “Sintra Small Group Tour: Cascais, Regaleira, Cabo da Roca.” Unfortunately, the tour was a major disappointment and was very different from the experience we expected when booking through Viator. At the beginning of the tour, our guide informed us that a road was closed and that she would therefore change the planned route. We fully understand that unexpected circumstances can occur. However, what followed cannot be explained by a road closure. We spent only approximately 20 minutes in Cascais. The guide then decided, without asking whether we wanted to stop for lunch, to take the group to a restaurant of her choice. The tour was advertised without food, and we had neither requested nor expected such a lengthy lunch stop. Nevertheless, approximately two hours of our tour were spent on this break, significantly reducing the time available for the actual itinerary. When my daughter, Emanuel, expressed our dissatisfaction directly to the guide, her response was particularly troubling. Instead of trying to address the complaint, she offered to refund the cost of the tour and suggested that we take an Uber back to our hotel at our own expense. We found this completely unreasonable. We had booked and paid for a full tour. It is absurd to suggest that because we were dissatisfied with the way the tour was being conducted, we should then pay additional money simply to get ourselves back to our hotel. We decided to continue with the tour. However, after Emanuel complained, the guide’s attitude toward us changed noticeably. From that point onward, she effectively chose to ignore our presence, while continuing to greet and interact normally with the other passengers in the group. This made an already disappointing experience extremely uncomfortable and, in our view, was an inappropriate and unprofessional response to legitimate customer feedback. Overall, the experience felt much more like being driven from one point to another than participating in the organized small-group tour we had booked. We chose Viator because we expected a certain standard of professionalism and customer service. Unfortunately, this experience fell far below that standard. For these reasons, we are requesting a full refund of the amount paid for the tour. I would appreciate Viator reviewing this matter seriously, including the actual itinerary, the time spent at each location, the two-hour restaurant stop, and the guide’s conduct following our complaint. We had an amazing tour with Nadyia in Sintra and Lisbon! She was so attentive, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the history and culture. Despite unexpected street closures, she went out of her way to adjust the route and even found out what was going on. When we couldn’t get an Uber afterward, she kindly drove us back to our hotel herself. She’s a fantastic guide and a true professional highly recommend. She's also a great driver.

Nádia, we are so grateful for the wonderful day we spent with you exploring Sintra and its surrounding areas. We spent our first day with Nàdia and were so glad we did! She took us on a wonderful adventure to see beautiful sights, beaches and palaces - even stopping for lunch at a local restaurant which was divine. She made us feel safe throughout the journey and truly felt like an old friend after only one day of knowing her. She has an incredible knowledge of Portugal and taught us so much whilst also having great relaxed conversations throughout the trip. My three year old son felt very comfortable with her and she made the adventure just as exciting for him as it was for us. Whilst we were sad to leave Nádia at the end of the day, we are extremely grateful for the recommendations she gave us (she absolutely nailed it with finding the best place for pasteis de nata 🥧) and we are so grateful for her buying almond pastries for us which were divine! We’d love to do it all again 🫶🏻🤩♥️

Nadia was a good host! She knows a lot ablit Sintra! She was kind enough to drive us to our hotel after the tour. We have been traveling around Europe for about a month and the best food was during this tour!

Nadia is passionate and engaging. There were severe fires which limited the usual tour so Nadia pivoted very well to ensure we had a wonderful experience in Sintra. We dipped our toes in the ocean, ate delicious fish soup, and visited the royal summer castle. Nadia treated us to gorgeous pastry and dropped us at our requested destination. Overall a great experience. Thank you Nadia!

Nadia was the best, communicative tour guide/host we could have asked for. She knew of all the good spots in terms of sites and food and was super knowledgeable of the history of each site! The pacing was perfect and at your own rate and was she very thoughtful for giving us all the local tips and recommendations for visiting lisbon in general. And he did this all on his day off (because we had made a scheduling mistake). This tour turned out to be the highlight of our visit to Portugal.

This trip was canceled — I don’t know when but I did not receive a confirmation message but I did receive a confirmation message day before and on the tour. There I ended up wasting money to get to meeting local and no contact after a sent messages for over and hour. They stated because it was Jan 1st it was closed but they would have known this prior but instead took my booking fee — I think to get the interest as they knew it would be cancelled the. I was scrolled by the company for my messages — totally not customer service friendly— I am awaiting my refund — I hope — but highly recommend NOT using this company at all.

Very disappointed! Don’t trust this operator. The tour operator contacted me the night before the tour and asked me to cancel the trip due to the possibility of rain, promising a refund. I never received the refund, even after communicating with the tour operator several times. I disputed the charge through my credit card and the operator now says I cancelled the trip too late and they refuse to refund my money. It didn’t rain and I took the train to Sintra on my own. It was easy and I had a great time on my own! Save your money or go with a different tour operator.

Friendly and knowledgeable guide, Nadea, was a pleasure to interact with and she made our time in Sintra enjoyable. This is a great option if you don’t need to see all of the attractions inside-out but want to mix in a few major sightseeing spots along with other peeks and drive-thru’s of the beautiful Sintra area.

tour guide work very hard to make the day wonderful. the weather condition are different between lisbon and sintra. palace and cost view are beautiful.

When we booked our tour and were lucky enough to end up with a private tour with Pedro to Sintra. Everything about the pick up - communication and information during the day was fantastic. If we had not done the tour with A’way and the knowledge of Pedro then we would not have got all of the detailed information that was provided during the tour. It all was fantastic - we had a wonderful lunch as part of the tour all in all it was a great day and highly recommended
