Sintra Private Trip From Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience

We had a wonderful with our guide Catarina. Picta Travel was on top of all the details from the moment we booked, ensuring we knew the options to choose from, and that all details were taken care of. Catarina confirmed pick up time and location with us from the night before, was timely in picking us up, and the friendliest person you’ll ever meet. My husband and I truly enjoyed our time with her throughout the whole day, and also learned a lot about the different sites and about the town. Her recommendation for lunch at a restaurant on the coast was spot on—it was beautiful, the food was outstanding and fresh (octopus salad, fresh oysters, a white fish we had never tried and the most deliciously decadent dessert called the Doce Nortada) and we felt at ease. I would recommend Catarina a million times over.

Lorenzo was an organized,experienced guide who knows the Sintra area and many off the best local businesses. He kept us informed, e tertaibed and on schedule while giving us plenty of time in our own.

Marta was amazing! She was a wonderful tour guide sharing with us the history behind Sintra and the Palaces. We had a spectacular lunch by the ocean. An absolutely wonderful day.

Our tour guide, Jimena, kept us informed about the meeting point and went out of her way to pick us up at the cruise port terminal. She repeatedly communicated her arrival status. Once we were together, she told us what the tour plan was then adjusted the plan to suit our needs and interests. This included changing ticket times which I did not expect to be possible. It was a very pleasant, stress free experience dynamically tailored to our interests by a very knowledgeable, capable, and fun tour guide. My wife and I would definitely repeat this experience, especially if we could get Jimena as our guide.

We really enjoyed our day in Sintra! Antonio was a fantastic guide and managed our time and day superbly. We never felt rushed visiting the many sites included in this tour. The sights we were able to experience included the town of Sintra, the Initiation Well, Pena Palace, Quinta da Regaleira, Cabo da Roca, and Praia Grande. The itinerary of this tour won us over and it did not disappoint! In between stops Antonio spoke the history of many of the places we were visiting. More importantly, Antonio also played some Fado music as we were driving, interpreting the music along the way to help us get a better understanding of some the the cultural themes Fado music often sings about. All in all, this is a great tour if you are looking for a full, in depth experience of the Sintra area. Please remember you can customize your day which is a fantastic opportunity to organize the day to your liking and preferences. It was great not having to coordinate the time and transportation between all the stops. At the end of the tour Antonio brought us back to our hotel in Lisbon. This tour makes your day in Sintra as efficient as possible so you can enjoy your time. Antonio's time management was superb and we never felt rushed at any of the sites. We had a private Sintra and environs tour hosted by Gabriela. She is very knowledgeable about Portuguese history and contemporary society. In Sintra we saw all the highlights and visited the palaces. The tour itself went very smoothly. We had full control on where to go and Gabriela made certain that we had enough time to take in the sights. This was a great tour, made so by our guide Luis! He was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of great history and information about Sintra, Monserrat and the Pina Palace. I highly recommend this full-day private tour experience. Anna (our guide) was incredibly informative, providing a rich expression of the history, local politics and cultural elements throughout our trip. Her personal story was equally compelling. She successfully navigated the difficult streets of Sintra, which was reason enough to book this tour. Pickup and drop off were straightforward and timely. She accompanied our group of 4 through most of the castles and palaces (with an accompanying narrative on what we were seeing), while also providing a nice balance for us to explore our own way. She has beneficial relationship with several local business for pastries, coffee and timely restroom visits. Our midpoint lunch on the coast was local, upscale and fantastic, with stunning views of the beach and ocean. We had a loose itinerary, but Anna allowed flexibility on timing for areas that interested us. The quality of these tours is directly tied to the experience and personality of the tour guide, and Anna was amazing.

Pedro was such an informative and knowledgeable guide. His passion for his country and his heritage was obvious. He picked us up at the meeting place, our AirBnb on time and took us directly to our 1st guided tour. Pedro was ever aware of our mobility issues. He made sure we didn’t get into any difficult situations. After our tour, Pedro took us over to the coast to have a very delicious lunch and to watch the surfers and wind surfers. Pedro is a very knowledgeable and attentive guide. He picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel door. At each site he dropped us off and then found a place to park to spare us extra walking. He asked us we wanted to see and when we asked for suggestions his ideas we excellent. His deep knowledge of the history and architecture of the sites we visited made it souchore interesting. And during the driving he was just as interesting to talk to about daily life. I recommend Pedro wholeheartedly!

Our experience with Matheus was top notch! Comfortable vehicle and Matheus chatted along the way answering all our questions …..his knowledge of the Portuguese way of life and local area gave us insights we wouldn’t have gotten if we’d attempted the trip on our own. Although the crowds were still large in most places Matheus timed things in order we had minimal waiting and took us to the best viewpoints! A highly recommended trip and we have come way with some wonderful memories!!!

Traveling with toddlers this option was the best for flexibility and overall experience. Highly recommend for the friendly guide António as well as the convenience of the overall experience. Avoiding the steepest up hill climbs of Sintra was appreciated. And simplifying all the various admissions was great as well. We booked our trip to Sintra through Trip Advisor, which contracted with Picta Travel in Lisbon. Picta Travel was very good at communicating with us. I would recommend booking directly with them. We had a very positive experience with our private tour guide, Martim. He picked us up at our hotel in a clean and comfortable company car. Martim was very knowledgeable, professional, informative and kind. We had some extra time in between the Quinta Da Regaleira and the Pena Palace. Martim was very flexible with our schedule and provided us the time to do some shopping. At the end of the trip he sent us a list of great recommendations for Lisbon, which was very helpful. I would recommend him as a private guide.

Our guide, Jon, with his lovely Mercedes Sedan (which we named Betsy) was fantastic and fun. We paid a bit extra to skip the loooong line at the palace and I would recommend that highly. The architecture is gorgeous and variegated which is amazing with all the different styles. I would probably even skip the inside and just view from the outside if I did it again! As a result of skipping the line we had lots of time to shop and he took us to the perfect tile shop where we bought the most beautiful tiles for our kitchen here in DC which we are renovating and hope to build in the tiles into the backsplash. Then he took us to a wonderful restaurant right on the sea with spectacular views and the food was very special and perfect wine! Thank you, Jon!

Sintra's Pena Palace and Regaleira are stunning, but what really elevated this experience was our guide, Lisa. Gracious and experienced, Lisa timed our stops perfectly while also leaving time for us to explore. My wife and I wanted to get the most out of our limited time in Lisbon, and this tour seemed like a perfect opportunity to do just that. Our guide, Pedro, arrived early to pick us up to take us to the sites. We were quickly impressed at his deep knowledge of the history of the region, sites, and history of Portugal itself over the centuries. Pedro did a wonderful job of telling the story of what we were seeing, rather than giving a lecture. We were pleasantly surprised to learn that lunch was at a restaurant along the coast that had earned a Michelin Star, and it did not disappoint! Though it costs extra, I highly recommend getting the fast pass for any entrances. We were so grateful to completely bypass the massive line at Pena Palace, which allowed us to stay immersed in the beauty of the castle and landscape, as well as the history that made each room and detail unique. The weather was perfect for us throughout the day, but it would be best to remember sunscreen and water bottles since there is lots of walking. This type of experience is best for anyone that is prepared for lots of elevation changes. Overall, this was a wonderful experience and I would absolutely recommend it to friends and family!

We (group of 4) had a full day tour from Lisbon to Sintra and including two palaces and a delightful lunch at a beachside restaurant (Bar do Fundo). Our guide Antonio was very knowledgable about history and gave us many great insights into contemporary Portugal. His english language was very good. The drive was very comfortable. Maya was a great guide who was knowledgeable and made sure we enjoyed the visits at a good pace. We had some time to walk around Sintra to see the city center buildings and shops. We chose Pena Palace and fast track tickets (worth the extra), and Quinta da Regaliera. Both were interesting and worth seeing for the history and design features. We had lunch at the beach at Bar do Fundo, and enjoyed local seafood and a view of the cliffs at Cabo da Roca. Pleasant day trip with hotel pick up and drop off.
