Sintra Private Tour From Lisbon: Palaces & Coast

We were Picked up at our hotel at 11.00 am for a tour of Sintra palaces. We opted to visit both Pena and the National Palace. We were abled to successfully see both. Our guide Joao was super nice and very informative and gave us excellent tips about what to visit. Super good guide. The weather was beautiful and perfect for our visit of the palace gardens and the Cabo da Roca. Splendid tour on a splendid day. Thanks to all and especially to our guideJoao Salvador Cunha! He was excellent!

Given that I had recent knee surgery but my friend had no challenges, we booked a private tour guide. Joāo Salvador was friendly, thoughtful, attentive, patient, knowledgeable & steered us to some beautiful sites & experiences that accommodated my limitation but still allowed us to have a wonderful & memorable time in Sintra, the Quinta de Rigaleira & a beautiful ride to the coastal town of CasCais without feeling like we sacrificed anything. He was well informed & also gave us clear instructions. He gave us great suggestions & even recommended a fabulous local favorite for lunch the Toca do Júlio’s that was not only delicious but also fun. We are both foodies, lovers of history & music & he met those needs & more. I would highly recommend him to any and all with physical limitations or not. It was well worth it. One of our best times in the Lisbon area.

João was a great guide full of historical and cultural knowledge. His advice was precious in deciding how to tailor our visit according to what we were looking for and he advised us on the perfect route. Our lunch was lovely and the whole day was very enjoyable and insightful. Obrigada João!

Joao Cunha was over the top knowledgeable of the area and what sites we needed to see as first time visitors. We put over trust in him and he did not disappoint. He took us to sights and allowed us to wander around taking it all in. Was able to answer any questions we had.

Perfect experience. João was an incredible guide, gave me all of the history and information on the car ride and then let me take my time wandering around each stop and really get to explore the way I wanted to. He gave great recommendations for my entire trip to Portugal and was extremely flexible with time and making sure I got to check all of the boxes I wanted on my half day tour. 10/10 would recommend (and have already been recommending to anyone I’ve met going to Lisbon and looking to do a sintra tour. For anyone questioning…book a private tour, specifically this one…you won’t be disappointed

João is a great guide, full of energy and very knowledgeable. We had originally wanted to self-guide using public transport, but we were so glad to have met João, because we got to see so much more and got the stories to go with the sights. Definitely worth it.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and he was very attentive giving us the best areas and views of Sintra, Portugal. The full day tour was full of beautiful surprises, moments, palaces and amazing nature. Joao is the best guide, he knows all the history facts, all the hidden gems and offcourse, the best authentic restaurants.

The tour was amazing! We went to Pena Palace park and then went inside Quinta de Regelaira. We had João as our tour guide and he was superb! We only have good things to talk about!

Joao Salvador Cunha was our guide for this trip and he was amazing! He spoke excellent English, he knew the culture, he explained a lot of history to us and took us to some of the absolute best places in the country. He also has a surprise location that you have to check out and it's right on the ocean! This was our first time in Portugal and when we come back the next time, he is the one that I will request to be our guide. He gets five stars plus!

João was an amazing host! He helped us determine the right places to visit to maximize our day in Sintra, and was full of history throughout the journey. He found just the right lunch spot for us, was very thoughtful about what we were wanting to do and made our experience magical throughout the day. When you are in doubt, take his advice, he won’t steer you wrong! We very much enjoyed this trip and would book him again for other day trips should we come back to Lisbon.

João (John) felt like a friend giving the tour, he was super nice and conversational. He explained the history of every spot we hit and then let my partner and I explore on our own before meeting back with him to head to the next location. He gives a ton of freedom with his tours and lets you customize your adventures with the help of his recommendations. He went above and beyond, even showed a spot along the coast that was a beautiful surprise for us. He showed us an amazing traditional Portuguese restaurant that he grew up eating at. He knew everyone at the restaurant and made us feel like we were part of their family. This was our favorite meal of the trip- traditional, delicious, and affordable. This was also our favorite day of our trip in general. There’s nothing that beats a good friend showing you all the coolest spots in their hometown, and that’s what this felt like. Thanks again Joăo!

Joao was extremely knowledgeable on the history and culture of the region. My wife and I really enjoyed learning about the different areas we were visiting. It enhanced the experience and we left understanding more about the incredible layers of history. We will absolutely reach out to Joao for any future visits and I’ve recommended his tours to friends traveling the area.
