Sintra Full Day Tour From Lisbon - Small Group Tour

If you're visiting Lisbon for the first time, as we were, and don't quite know where to start, this tour is an absolute must. Honestly, I would 1000% recommend it even if you've visited Lisbon before. It was worth every penny. Planning our trip to Lisboa felt a little overwhelmed trying to figure out what to see and how to get around. This tour took all of that stress away. There was no need to worry about transport, planning routes, or fitting everything in. We could simply relax, enjoy the stunning scenery, explore beautiful castles, take in the nature, eat amazing food, and make the most of every moment. Our guide, João, was absolutely wonderful. He shared so much knowledge about the places we visited and about Portugal itself, while also giving us plenty of great local recommendations along the way. What made the experience truly special was that it never felt like we were just listening to a guide recite facts. João told fascinating stories and provided plenty of insight, but he also took the time to have genuine conversations with us. It made the whole experience feel much more personal and relaxed. The entire day was perfectly paced, and we never once felt rushed. One of the highlights of the day was having lunch at a restaurant in his grandmother's hometown. The food was absolutely phenomenal and felt like such an authentic experience that we would never have found on our own. You could tell that João genuinely loves what he does and takes great pride in sharing his home, culture, and local knowledge with visitors. This whole tour was overall wonderful. João was great-knows a ton about the area and kept things super casual/fun. It's a ton to pack into one day, so I was definitely getting tired at the end (particularly my feet with so many uphills), but the views and crazy architecture definitely made it worth it!

I took a tour of Cascais and Sintro with Rui as our guide. We had a wonderful time visiting the beach, learning the history of Portugal and exploring new sights. Rui was open, friendly and welcoming. This tour exceeded all my expectations.

Spent all day on a private tour of Cascais and Sintra with Rui. We had a group of 4 and he picked us up and dropped us off in Lisbon. Showed us all of the great spots to take photos and told us about the history. We stopped for lunch at a restaurant and the food was delicious. Highly recommend Rui if you are looking for a great tour guide. He is so friendly, engaging snd knowledgeable. Thank you Rui for a memorable day!

Went to evora and monsaraz. João was the best tour guide and in addition to being knowledgeable was also great company. He showed my partner and I some of the best views, we had some of the best food, and bonus went the capital of bifanas! Wonderful memories with great company that we will always cherish! I had a wonderful time exploring Sintra! As a solo traveler, this tour was the perfect way to see the beautiful sights and learn about the history of the area. Walking is extremely difficult with numerous steep slopes. Fortunately, Pena Palace has a shuttle bus but Viator does not disclose that. Also, there is an expectation that the traveler buy tickets to Pena Palace in advance - this is also not disclosed by Viator. We lost 30 minutes standing in line because of this.

Our Sintra tour with Gui was absolutely amazing and one of the highlights of our trip! We explored two beautiful palaces, the charming town of Sintra, and enjoyed breathtaking coastal views and lunch. Gui was incredibly accommodating and truly made the experience unforgettable. Book this tour and you won’t regret it!

First and most importantly, Gui was a superb guide. He was a walking encyclopedia of the area, yet nothing felt rehearsed or scripted. He answered every question we threw at him with ease and depth. The castles and views were gorgeous, and the local food was excellent—both the seafood and the meat. Overall, the tour was outstanding. Even though we were originally scheduled to return by 4:30 p.m., Gui never rushed us. It was a relaxed, laid-back experience that still managed to be highly informative. We would highly recommend him and would absolutely book with him again. By the end of the tour, it genuinely felt like we’d made a friend we’d want to see the next time we return. One of the best tours we’ve ever taken! Absolutely beautiful places, an amazing guide - Joao, and such a wonderful day! Great trip, Keith was a card and lots of fun. Very informative without boring us to death. We wanted to eat at a specific restaurant on the shore so he made reservations for us and was very accommodating. Van was very comfortable and his driving made us feel secure. Would highly recommend!

Joao was the guide for our group. He took us to all the appointed locations and gave all the needed information and was friendly and outgoing in the process. He also took us to his childhood summer home town and we experienced a great local restaurant. A nice added touch. All of us had a great time and are happy we booked this tour.

Everything was perfect, from suggestions of things to concentrate our time on and spend our energy doing. What really stood out to us was taking us to a family run local restaurant for the most fabulous 4 course lunch. Joãn was a pleasure, you’d be lucky to have him as your guide.

We had an unforgettable day in Sintra with Jose, a knowledgeable, thoughtful local guide who truly brought Portugal’s history and culture to life. What we especially loved about Jose is how naturally he shares his incredible knowledge. He is intelligent, polite, and genuinely passionate about his country, without ever trying to show off. You can feel how proud he is of Portugal and how much he enjoys sharing it with his guests. Jose is a wonderful storyteller — engaging, easy to talk to, and never boring! He seems to know the answer to every question about Portugal, but he also listens, has a real conversation with you, and makes the whole experience feel personal rather than like a typical tour. After Sintra, Jose took us to a beautiful beach and then to a local village for lunch at an authentic place we never would have discovered on our own. The food was delicious, and it made the day even more special. We left with wonderful memories and an even greater appreciation for Portugal. I truly wish Jose continued success and many wonderful guests. I will absolutely recommend him to my friends and to anyone visiting Portugal. Thank you, Jose, for such a fantastic and memorable day!

João was incredible! He made the day very fun and had so much knowledge to share. He took us to a family-owned restaurant that was very quaint and very good. The tour was about 8-8.5 hours long and the day was very organized. Highly recommend this to everyone!

We had a wonderful stress free experience exploring Sintra and surrounding hidden gems that we would otherwise would not have discovered on our own. I had such an amazing day in Sintra with João! From the very beginning, he personally greeted everyone, shook our hands, and introduced himself. It immediately made the group feel comfortable and welcomed. João was such a great host and really made the day feel personal. He shared so much about the area and took us to his home village, where we had one of the best meals of the trip at Pensão Sisudo. That was honestly one of my favorite parts of the day. The food was amazing, and being able to experience a place that was meaningful to João made it even more special. The whole day was relaxed, fun, and full of beautiful places and great conversation. You could tell João genuinely enjoys what he does and takes pride in showing people his home. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Sintra. If you get João, you’re in for a great day!

Rui picked us up at our hotel. We made a plan with his support and off we went. He had great suggestions and was very patient with us. Even found a restaurant for us to eat at and a bathroom without a line. Beautiful views and great history. Even learned history about the square of whwre oyr hotel is.

Its was a great day tour. Right amount of sight-seeing, chatting and learning. You will be walking up-hill so appropriate shoes are a must (as well as a light jacket)

Miguel our guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and looked after us. It is a full day, pick up at 8:30 and drop off 5:00. You must be ready to do a lot of walking and hiking uphill. We were tired but trip was worth it

What an amazing day we had with Joao, our guide ! The communication with him before the activity was really easy and he made sure to give us all the info and purchased some tickets for us! The length of the visits was perfect, and we were able to see all that was planned and much more ! The atmosphere was great, Joao was taking the time to explain everything, answer our questions and make some jokes along the way! We were two couples which was a small group, and great! We would highly recommend this tour, and can’t wait to be back!

We visited incredible sites and enjoyed a delicious lunch at a charming village restaurant he selected, which added an authentic taste of Portuguese culture. Be prepared for plenty of cobblestone walking and bring extra euros for optional expenses. Highly recommend Miguel!

Miguel is the best guide. We took this trip to Sintra on a hot day. He waited in line for us in the sun as we waited in the shade. He was very knowledgeable about the history and local culture. For lunch we went to a local restaurant and the food and drinks were fantastic. Our legs were tired from the hills and stairs, but one of my favorite guided day trips ever!

I cannot recommend this experience enough - it was the highlight of our trip!! João was the best guide and this was truly our favourite tour - he knows so much about Sintra of course, but I also learned so much about Portugal as a whole. He is beyond passionate about his country and extremely knowledgeable - I genuinely learned so much. He also didn’t even feel like a guide! It felt like we were exploring with a friend that just wanted us to have the best of the best experience. My husband and I were so happy to have spent our anniversary doing this because it was truly a great experience. Definitely recommend.
