Pureza was a personable, informative guide, fun and engaging. Although it involved more driving, she went out of her way to provide the best experience - Sintra first thing in the morning before it was overrun by tourists, and the Pena palace in the afternoon after the fog/mist had burned off for example. She also had great lunch recommendations in Cascais. Recommended.

Sintra is an ancient village, primarily pedestrian, that was founded thousands of years ago. The Greeks referred to Sintra as the "Mountain of the Moon," and it still resembles a fairy tale village today. It has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1995. During your visit, you will have free time to try some famous travesseiros (pillows) from a historic bakery that has been in operation since 1862. These light puff pastries are intricately turned, rolled, and folded seven times, then filled with a delicious almond-and-egg-yolk cream and lightly dusted with sugar. You can also enjoy Sintra cheesecakes.
Visit an old bakery that has been in the same family since 1862 to enjoy their famous travesseiros, which are light puff pastries rolled and folded seven times. These delightful pastries are filled with a creamy mixture of almond and egg yolk, then lightly dusted with sugar. Alternatively, you can try the Sintra cheesecakes, which have historical references dating back to the 13th century. At that time, these cheesecakes were often used as a form of rent payment.
Colares, known for its famous wine cellars, is located on our way to the Atlantic Ocean. This charming village has a rich history with wine that dates back to the 13th century. The landscape appears to be frozen in time, showcasing old villas, beautiful mansions, and a mix of small and large farms, along with a century-old tram.
We will stop at Cabo da Roca, a wild location that features a cliff rising 150 meters (500 feet) above the Atlantic Ocean. This is the westernmost point of continental Europe. The area offers a stunning and remote landscape with breathtaking views of the roaring Atlantic.
The Cabo da Roca lighthouse is one of Portugal's most famous lighthouses. We cannot go inside, but we can enjoy this beautiful XVIII-century building from the outside.
Guincho Beach is a beautiful sandy area located 9 km from Cascais. It features a protected landscape with dunes and endemic flora, making it a popular destination for surfers.
This summer palace was constructed between 1897 and 1900 by an Irish nobleman, Jorge O'Neill. It serves as a classic example of “summer architecture.”
The Citadel of Cascais is a series of fortifications built between the 15th century and the 17th century to defend Cascais and Lisbon. Since the 19th century, it has been a former Royal Palace area.
Cascais was once a fishing village that gained popularity as a resort for Portugal's royal family in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Today, it is a favored vacation destination for both Portuguese and international tourists. The village features small museums, picturesque gardens, a beautiful marina, and a pedestrianized old town. We will stop here for lunch or a snack, and we recommend trying the most famous ice cream in Portugal: Santini’s Gelati!
We will visit the remarkable Pena Palace, a key example of 19th-century romanticism in the world. The current palace was established in 1839, when King Ferdinand II purchased the ruins of the Monastery of Our Lady of Pena and began transforming it into a residence that reflected his romantic tastes. You will have access to Pena Palace Park and will enjoy a guided tour of the courtyards. If you choose that option, you will also be able to explore the interior rooms.

Wow! Our tour guide Katarina, was just exceptional! Very knowledgeable, friendly, funny, patient and a joy to be around! Some people on our tour were delayed for the meeting time as they got lost. She patiently found them and even extended our time to make up for the delay in the morning. It was a great choice of locations to visit. Katarina was well known at the Pena Palace as we bypassed long lines as she expertly guided our group. She was accommodating to some who didn’t have great mobility without holding others back. She was an all-star tour guide! Thank you so much!
Kat was an excellent guide. She is so knowledgeable. We learned so much on this tour about Portuguese history! We had a great day. We highly recommend!
My husband and me ( Samir and Nina) had the best day of our Lisbon’s vacation and of any vacation we had before with Tania. Tania is a very knowledgeable, fun, full of anergy and joy and beautiful inside out lady. She didn’t waste a minute even when we had our own time she was preparing notes and directions to help us. I’ve never been in such fun and educated trip like this before, the entire group had fun and we were laughing like family gathering, all because we felt very comfortable and happy having such a wonderful guid like Tina. May God bless your sweet soul and heart ❤️🙏. We truly felt your love towards your amazing country and job. Love you Tania ❤️
That was a wonderful excursion! Many interesting places for one day in comfortable minibus in family atmosphere. Special thanks for Ricardo who creates this atmosphere. He loves what he does and does it with passion, shares with the tourists everything he knows with this little details and facts which gives the places more life. The excursion was ideal option for me considering that I didn’t have many days in Lisbon. Thanks Ricardo and Lisbon Riders!
This trip was fabulous and made so by our our guide,Tania. She had a wealth of knowledge, great way of explaining things, and was very empathetic to all 7 people in our van. She would explain not only things about the sites we visited, but also gave us a great explanation of the Portuguese history so we could better appreciate all that we saw. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Thank you Tania!!
We had a great day with Ricardo. He is a wonderful guide who made the effort to get to know everyone in the group and provided interesting and useful information on the places we visited. He encouraged active participation from everyone in the group. We have been on many tours in the last three weeks, and he was the best guide we had.

Tanya was our Guide and did such an amazing job!! First, she learned everone’s name on the tour and I have to say that was very impressive!! The sites were amazing! Only surpassed by Tanya’s knowledge about the sites and her enthusiasm! We were all given fun details about each location!! We were well cared for by Tanya throughout the day, giving us time to also explore each site on our own!! Because of her personal nature, it created an atmosphere that got all of us talking in the van to each other all day, like we were old friends! It was so much fun!! Tanya created this atmosphere by the fun questions she asked us! Awesome fun day!! I highly recommend this tour! On a scale of one to ten, it was a Twenty!! Great job!! A wonderful experience. Our driver and guide, Caterina, was informative, entertaining, and delightful. The group was small, the van was comfortable and Caterina was an excellent driver and tour guide. I cannot say enough about the trip. Thoroughly enjoyed it and even made a new friend with one of our fellow travelers!
Definitely wear your walking shoes for Pena Palace. Sintra- Cascais was beautiful. Cascais is worth a day trip alone.
Our guide Ricardo was amazing and I could not imagine traveling to Pena Palace without a guide. 10/10 would recommend.
Ricardo was an outstanding guide and made our Sintra tour truly memorable. He was knowledgeable, engaging, and shared the perfect amount of history and local insight. The day was well paced, relaxed, and never felt rushed. Ricardo was also warm, personable, and clearly passionate about the area. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a fantastic Sintra experience.

Great experience with our guide, and the whole group. The tour was amazing.
This was an excellent tour with an excellent guide . Miguel was right on time . Pickup location easy to get to . Miguel was a great driver and the van was in excellent shape . There were a total of 6 of us including Miguel which was a great sized group . He is very very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Sintra . I think he could have talked for another hour ! He was sensitive to needs for bathroom breaks and we had just the right amount of free time . The Pena Palace is really incredible and we also had a lovely time walking and the old town as well as Cascais. Highly recommend Miguel and Lisbon Riders .
Such a wonderful day! Wear comfortable shoes and carry a jacket if traveling in October. The views are the story of the day.
Really interesting trip with our knowledgeable guide, Pureza. W ehad ple9of time to see all areas of the tour, including Pena Palace.
The experience was nice and the guide was friendly; we had the chance to visit Sintra and Cascais (we thought we would probably visit more places or palaces in Sintra to make the most out of it but it seems this wasn't included in the original itinerary: worth to consider this and enrich the Sintra experience). But overall, it was a lovely day.
Ricardo was awesome. Great job on giving us a good background on the history and keeping the tour interactive by asking us questions and having great conversation!
Book early. Request Tania. She can even arrange for excellent weather! Excellent tour operator communication. We've hired private guides globally. These are experts in their cities and subject matter (architecture, history, art, etc.). Tania is among the top three (even though in this tour she was guiding six of us). Excellent value, especially for a small group tour which started at 8am and ended about 5:30pm. Knowledgeable about the four locations we visited. Engaging. Funny. An excellent driver. Caring about each of the travelers in the small group ensuring we knew where to go and when to return. A note for future travelers: the Ford van used is new. However, while it's meant to seat 8, that includes two in the front with the driver. That bench seat is small. My favorite site was Cabo Da Roca, the westernmost point of land in continental Europe. Cascais is an upscale beach town (similar to many in the U.S. east and west coast). The Historic Center of Sintra was interesting for the very brief visit, but I'd skip it in the future. Pena Palace is historic and we're told the most visited site in Portugal. I've visited many palaces in Europe and regrettably (for me) the mix of four different architectural designs was disappointing. This said, the story about the palace is quite interesting and Tania did a wonderful job telling it. The gardens around the palace (which stretch miles from the palace walls) are stunning and worth staying at the palace for a few hours. We had awesome weather (unusual, btw) enabling views all the way to the Tagus river and Belem (where the river flows into the Atlantic Ocean).
This was a great tour. Tanya,, out tour guide, was amazing. She is wealth of information. We felt like we had enough time at each site/area and learned so much. Highly recommend!
We had a wonderful day. Beautiful weather. Richardo was an excellent tour guide. Knowledge and a great driver.
Ricardo our guide was excellent and shared his abundance of knowledge with us. He treated us as if we were his family and knew us all by name within minutes. Wonderful experience.
Friendly informative guide Ricardo. He made a great effort to make the day fun and interesting. Would highly recommend
Fantastic Small-Group Tour with Ricardo! We thoroughly enjoyed our Sintra, Cascais and Pena Palace small-group tour from Lisbon. With only eight people traveling in a comfortable, air-conditioned van, the tour felt relaxed and personal and was a great way to see several highlights in one day. Our guide, Ricardo, was excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable and informative, but what made the day especially enjoyable was his great personality. He kept us engaged throughout the tour and shared interesting information about the places we visited. The guided visit to Pena Palace was a highlight. Having the tour include admission to the park, courtyards and interior rooms made the experience easy and complete, and Ricardo’s explanations added so much to our visit. We also appreciated having some free time at several stops to explore on our own rather than feeling rushed from place to place. In Cascais, Ricardo gave us recommendations for places to have lunch, which was very helpful and gave us a chance to enjoy the town at our own pace. If you’re staying in Lisbon and want to experience Sintra, Pena Palace and Cascais in one day without the hassle of arranging transportation and tickets yourself, I highly recommend this small-group tour. Ricardo’s knowledge, personality and attention to the group made it a memorable day and one of the highlights of our time in Portugal.
Miguel was a very friendly and super informative guide! Easy going and so much fun! A great way to see the area!
Amazing trip and our guide Ricardo was the best ever! He knew a lot and had a talent for story telling.
Excellent service by the guide Ricardo made for a very enjoyable day!
This was a great full day outing to see some of that best parts of Sintra, cascais Nazare and the Pena Palace. It was a wonderful variety of sites, well guided by our tour guide, with a lovely lunch by Nazare Beach. Highly recommend it. Especially since this was a small group tour so you could really have a lot of attention from the guide and get to know some people
The tour exceeded my expectations and was absolutely worth it. Ricardo was our tour guide and he made us feel like family by the end of the day. He went out of his way to give us recommendations for the rest of our trip and also gave us great history about the locations we were visiting. I highly recommend this tour.
Our guide was wonderful. I loved the variety of stops. It was also nice to have the ride and everything arranged.
Ricardo our guide was amazing! He truly was such a good human being. He was clear and concise, very knowledgeable, detailed, fun, caring and patient. He really took his time to make sure we were okay and even giving us more information on Lisbon for us to visit. The recommended food places was awesome! The trip was comfortable and l loved the fact it was a small group. I booked this for mum and I and, at that time mum has a sprained ankle and Ricardo and the group was compassionate and it really help her see the places without missing out, being injured. We loved Sintra, mum especially loved the Palace. Thank you for the friendship and memories!
Our guide Mar is exceptional at her job. She provides an abundance of information about all of the sites we visited, as well as those we passed along the way. Because she is a native to Portugal, she provided quite a bit of background about the country and culture. She also provided us with an excellent recommendation for lunch in Cascais. She is an extremely genuine person and her concern for her guests comes through.
Would highly recommend this tour; great sights to see in wonderful/magical Sintra, then beautiful resort area of Cascais. Pena Palace was very interesting historically and architecturally, but quite overcrowded. Still, a wonderful way to spend the day near Lisbon.
Ricardo was a great tour guide. Very knowledgeable and a great driver. We had a wonderful time !!!!!
Absolutely fabulous tour!! I highly recommend this for the small group size alone. Watching giant bus groups try and navigate the town and hear their guide made me all the more happy to be in a small group. All the sites on the plan are wonderful and interesting, the palactio Peña is stunning and the free time to explore is perfect for anybody with any interest. This wonderful tour was made even more amazing by our fabulous guide Pureza! 10/10 highly recommended and such a great value for money, even less expensive than the big bus tours
Great day seeing the sites with Ricardo. We are a family of 5 and enjoyed our full day tour in a comfortable 9 seater van. Ricardo was knowledgeable and entertaining and went above and beyond to make sure we have a great time in Portugal.

Absolutely fabulous tour. Pureza was wonderful! We enjoyed the hike up to Pena Palace; it is quite strenuous.
We had a fantastic day with Ricardo He was a great guide. He was very knowledgeable, informative and fun to spend the day with I highly recommend you book a tour with Ricardo
A great day with a great guide (Ricardo). His recommendations for food and sites were spot on!
We were lucky enough to have Miguel as our tour guide and it was one of the best tours we have ever done. He was so knowledgeable about everywhere he took us and answered all of our questions with ease— and we had many!! He was genuinely excited to explain all the history and you can tell he is passionate about it which always makes a tour/experience all the better! We learned so much and enjoyed every second of tour. I highly recommend this tour!!💖💖
Great that it was only an 8 person tour. Our guide (Ricardo) was excellent. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Recommended!
Ricardo is exceptional 😍🥰 He pickup and drop off us from/to the hotel. Gives us good recommendations for restaurants and photos spots 😊
Great tour guide (Carolina) who presented information with knowledge and enthusiasm. She made the sights come alive.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and we had a wonderful day in Sintra and Cascais.
Ricardo Domingues is the best! Speaks English, Spanish, French, Italian, and of course Portuguese. Very charismatic and informative of the areas he took us to. Very accommodating and helpful every step of the journey.
