Our guide, Bennie was fantastic! He was very personable which made the tour fun and informative. Wear layers as you will walk through a lot of mist and it could get a bit damp and chily. The sun burns off soon enough, tho. Nice tour!

Leave the palace and follow your guide to the historical center of Sintra, where you’ll have free time to explore the town, you can visit the Sintra National Palace on your own, where the Portuguese royalty of the 15th and 16th centuries used to spend the summer months (own expense) or have a drink and a snack (own expense). Try a travesseiro or a queijada, two delicious local pastries.
Next, admire the landscape of Sintra Natural Park on the way to the next stop. Enjoy a photo opportunity at the cliffs of Roca Cape (Cabo da Roca), the westernmost point of Europe.
Pass by the surfer's paradise of Guincho Beach.
Pass the cliff at Hell’s Mouth (Boca do Inferno), before stopping to stretch your legs along Cascais’ bay.
Free time for lunch and to wander around the centre of Cascais, a former fishing village and today a popular holiday spot. Bernardo was attentive and organized, making sure everyone knew where and when to meet while accommodating participants who needed a little extra time. He offered great recommendations and shared interesting information throughout the day without being overbearing, which I especially appreciated considering we spent nearly 10 hours together. He made the entire experience enjoyable and stress-free. Highly recommend!
Wonderful experience. Joao wove the facts, romance, and culture of Portugal into an experience to remember. Definitely wear walking shoes, take water and gum or hard candy and be prepared to be wowed!
While I’m sure each guide is different, our guide Antonio C was exceptional! His detailed knowledge of the history of the places, the Portuguese culture and the local communities made the spectacular places and panoramic views even more intriguing!
This was a full day of wonderful adventures outside of Lisbon, exploring, and enjoying the coastline, palaces, and small villages. It did require some walking, but overall a wonderful experience to see the coastline, the mountains, the villages, and the beautiful palaces. Bernardo was a wonderful tour guide, and it was just the right amount of fellow explorers (8 total).
Inside Lisbon did a wonderful job of showing us Pena Palace, Sintra, and Cascais in an orderly fashion. The tour is worth it purely because of the crowds in Sintra and the tour’s ability to move around them. Having a local guide like Fabio (shout out Fabio, definitely recommend him) navigate us through the day was crucial to seeing everything we wanted to see like the Pena Palace, getting port flights, Quinta da Regaleira, learning about the architecture and history of the area, and having a bit of fun doing while doing so. The tour will move faster than a solo venture but this is much to its credit. You will be able to see what this tour provides in the itinerary. If you are hoping for a photo shoot at each place this tour is not what you want, though our tour guide did grab pictures of each of us at the some of the best sights. If you have a day and have some ideas of what you might enjoy in Cascais (you’ll have a few hours to explore so I would recommend familiarizing yourself with some shops you might like beforehand) you should absolutely book this tour. A fun, realistic, and full itinerary that our group was able to get through completely.
You could try going at this tour on your own stream, yet you would miss the experience of weaving the purpose, history, and relevance of these sites into your travel bank. João navigated the traffic-whoa, information, and team seamlessly. We learned, had fun, AND his gift for drawing each of us into the day turned a group of strangers into a cool team. Greatly appreciated his consideration of pauses between stairs with interesting info. Best restrooms for this tour are the Visitors Center. Carry small bottles of water and hard candy-altitude and uphill activity. Make sure you have Wave or Google Maps loaded to meet-on time, and right location. Walking shoes!!!! Spend your time getting there or being there. Miss the details or come away with a great overview.
It was such a pleasure to have a guide transport our small group today so we could sit back and relax and enjoy the journeys. With his local knowledge we enjoyed Portuguese specialities in authentic outlets and he had extensive knowledge of the historical backgrounds of the places we visited. In fact he took us to ‘the end of the world and back ‘ The furthest point west in Europe , thought to be the End of the World !! We had ample time to wander around, although I would have liked a slightly longer lunch break !
We had a wonderful time. The Palace is beautiful. Cascais is a very lovely town. We had a wonderful lunch at Beira Mar Restaurante — recommended by our guide. I believe our guide was Orlando. He was awesome! He was very knowledgeable and informative. Be aware: there is a steep walk up to the Palace. Our guide paced it for the group, so it was not too strenuous for a few of the older people in our group.
This trip was absolutely the best! Our tour guide Antonio was amazing!!
Our guide was very knowledgeable and informative. He tested us on all the things learned. Also wear comfortable shoes
What a great excursion but let me tell you first and foremost there is A LOT OF WALKING involved. Which includes a steep hill to climb. The well was fun to see but wow were we exhausted at the end!
We booked the Sintra and Cascais day tour from Lisbon and had Sergio as the guide for our small group tour. Absolutely worth the money, Sintra palace was unique and beautiful with its romantic history and the town pastries shouldn’t be missed! Cascais was a great seaside town to walk around and enjoy lunch. What made our tour really stand out was our guide Sérgio who was the truly impressive. From first introductions, his personable nature was evident, he kept the conversation going and the full group engaged throughout the day. He brought Sintra's castle to life with fascinating details and stories, blending historical events with a modern take and adding a twist of humour. Sergio went above and beyond with his care for our group, his food recommendations were fantastic, and he navigated the area brilliantly. We would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Portugal.
Sergio was fun, professional and very knowledgeable.
Amazing experience, must do. Absolutely had an amazing time
Sergio was a great guide. He was very thorough and knowledgeable about everywhere we went, and even mentioned some information about cities we passed by. He made sure to answer everyone's questions and he made the tour entertaining.
Fabio was a great guide. Talked to everyone individually. We hit all items on the itinerary just in a different order. Lots of hill climbing so be aware. Pena palace has a shuttle though that you can pay for if you want. Lunch place was great. One price for everything.
Trip was lovely. Our guide shared a lot of history and information on our ride. Sintra palace was beautiful We had a nice afternoon to walk around Cascais and eat lunch. Overall it was a pleasant experience.
Went with Philippe B; fabulous day; He is a rockstar in every way - knowledge of the material, making the day fun; being flexible with options; attention to my needs (limited walking due to recent injury) and I could go on.
We had the most beautiful day in Sintra and what made even better was our tour guide Antonio ! The castles and gardens were so pretty and romantic…straight out of a fairytale.
Absolutely worth getting up early for the tour. Miguel Leme was our tour guide and was simply amazing. Perfect tempo of information and moving from one amazing location to another. We learned so much and had a great time.
We had a great time with Alberto and really appreciate his comfortable, friendly personality — easy to be with all day. He was very knowledgeable and entertained us the entire trip with both historical and personal stories. Also appreciate how he was responsive to the group’s desires and personalities.
It was a great experience full of history lessons and very insightful information about Portuguese Monarchs. Our guide Alberto Xavier was very friendly and knowledgeable guide and great sense of humor! We were a small group of 8 and had a blast!
I would highly recommend this excursion to anyone wishing to visit Sintra and Cascais. We included the Penna Palace tickets which was fascinating and should not be missed. Our guide and driver, Orlando, was highly professional and gave us a wealth of information, both historical and cultural. Nothing was hurried and we were given plenty of time for photo opportunities. There was time to look round Sintra and to enjoy pastries and coffee, and in Cascai there was plenty of time for lunch and to explore the town. The return home along the coast was a fitting end to the day.
Great pace, informative, lovely to end the day in Cascais. So much easier than organising the day yourself
Anna was a wonderful guide, and every stop was absolutely stunning. I highly recommend this tour!
Sintra/Regaliero definitely worth visiting and a tour does allow you to skip the lines (you’d also have to queue for a bus to Pena tho Regaliero is easy walking distance from the centre of Sintra). The tour advertised a certain order of visits but in practice did the reverse in Sintra. We started with a free hour in Sintra and that would have been better placed after Regaliero as the Queen’s palace was closed. Be prepared for walking up hills. Cascading was very pleasant but not worth 1.5 hrs unless you want to add in some beach time. “Lands end” is worth a visit but the tour seemed to miss Boca do inferno.
Our guide Vasco was amazing. He was so knowledgeable about everything and pointed out little things we might have missed.
Alberto was an excellent tour guide and gave good insights Sintra, the Palace and Cascais. Worthwhile doing. Great tour
Nice tour. We saw a lot but I didn’t feel rushed and our tour guide took good care of us even when one of the participants started to not feel well in the beginning of the tour.
Active day walking. Beautiful palace tour. Opportunity to explore palace grounds. Great tour guides. Beautiful views outside the city Great day
Highly recommend this tour!! Our guide, Antonio, was incredibly knowledgeable and took us on a wonderful adventure through history. The day trip was nicely paced through both palaces, sintra, and cascais without feeling rushed. Note: multiple tours meet at the same pickup point. I think they did a decent job of calling out the names of those in their group; you do not have to wander around to find your guide.
Interesting castle and town. Small group of 8 made it manageable and more enjoyable than going with a large group.
Beautiful weather made this experience wonderful along with Yann, our guide. The tour is well timed to get out of the van & stretch occasionally. Yann could answer our questions and had so much info for us. The Pena Castle was our favorite part for the views, history & the beautiful castle.
The tour is very well organised. Sintra is outstanding, Cabo de Roca emotional. I expected a bit more from Cascais…
My husband and I enjoyed an excellent tour of the Pena Palace, Sintra, Cascais with Bernardo. It was a great small group tour and Bernando was very knowledgeable about Portuguese history and lovely to have a chat to. We learned a lot and had enough time to explore and enjoy some free time in each area too. I would highly recommend this tour and would go again during a visit to Lisbon!
Terrific tour of The area around Lisbon. I would highly recommend this tour. Our guide Yann was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic
Great time very enjoyable Lots of great pictures and memories
Fabulous all day experience. Benny, our guide, was friendly, knowledgeable and patient. This is a great way to get a taste of areas outside the city of Lisbon. Plenty of photo opportunities.
Benny was very knowledgeable and a great tour guide. We had an amazing day and we would definitely go again.
We enjoyed this tour. The guide was very knowledgable. He gave us tons of information about the sites, the history of Portugal and managed the program perfectly. He also ensured that the travellers were in the good mode throughout the entire journey. We liked each sites. However, for as the Palace Pena was not the highlight of the tour. It is quite overestimated and needs some renovation.
Our guide was fantastic. He didn’t rush us and we saw everything in good time. We had lots of stops for viewing and I enjoying our wandering around time. The van was comfortable and our driver was safe. He had lots of great information about our tour and for the rest of our stay in Portugal.
First, Benny was a fantastic tour guide!!! He was just so knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and took excellent care of us. The tour was great and met all our expectations!!!
Brilliant trip. Really informative and perfect amount of time at each stop. Our guide was great- very friendly and informative.
Excellent tour, lovely drive through forest up to the castle and later along the coast. Alberto was excellent, microphone attached to van near his face ensured every heard all his excellent information
This was a wonderful experience - just the right length and perfect choice of stops. Paolo is a terrific tour guide and driver, which is important on those windy roads! He gave us great directions and plenty of information without being overbearing. We recommend this tour highly!
Our guide, Natalie, was amazing. Very funny and informative. We had a great time seeing the town and castles. Had plenty of time to take pictures, look around, and eat lunch.
Excellent tour. Guide BENNY really knew his stuff and was very good.
My family and I had originally booked this tour in Spanish, however due to a staffing shortage that morning, we were assigned to an English group. Our guide João very thoughtfully offered to translate what he said but we are also fluent in English so we stuck to that language for the entirety of the tour. The group was just the right size and João did regular check-ins with some of the older members. No one was rushed and everyone got to take beautiful pictures while learning a ton. Would recommend!
Tour guide was exceptional. Knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. I would do this tour again.
