We visited Pena Palace, Quinta da Regaleira, and Cascais with Ruben as our guide. The weather was less than ideal with rain and wind, but Ruben took care of us, loaning us his jackets and umbrellas. He is full of knowledge and so enjoyable to be with. He even saved me from slipping multiple times bc of the rain and my poor footwear choice. The sun did finally come out on the way to the beach. I would definitely recommend this tour and request Ruben. Thanks again for a fun educational day. The Browns

The driver never turned up ! We called several times , we messaged . We contacted Viator , no practical assistance offered .

Our guide was great and truly tailored our day to fit everything we wanted to do! Made it very easy to navigate everything with three little kids.

We had an incredible Sintra & Cascais tour with Carlos. From the start, he was warm, thoughtful, and clearly passionate about what he does. We got to know him throughout the day and you can immediately tell he’s incredibly knowledgeable, smart, and savvy — but what stood out most was how well he adapted to us. Carlos had a great feel for our pace and tailored the depth of information perfectly — enough to keep us engaged and interested without ever feeling overwhelmed. He made history and local culture come alive. He was also amazing with our kids and constantly went out of his way to make the experience easier and more enjoyable for our family. Small gestures made a huge difference — like bringing the car closer so the kids wouldn’t have to walk uphill. That level of thoughtfulness really stood out. We also appreciated his honest recommendations — not just what to do, but what to avoid — and really enjoyed hearing about his own travels and life growing up in Portugal. You can tell this isn’t just a job for him; he genuinely cares about creating memorable experiences. Highly recommend this tour, and if you can, ask for Carlos. He made our day special.

Joao was an amazing guide. We had a fabulous day with him. He picked is up at our hotel promptly at 830am. Joao showed is Sintra, Cascais, the Pena Palace, the ocean fishing village of Azenhas do Mar, we had a spectacular Portguese lunch at Toca do Julio, and drove around the coast. Joao was wonderful. Smart, informative, knowledgeable with tertific history information, very accommodating and he stopped whenever we saw something interesting. He went way overboard to make our trip perfect. I give Joao a 20 on a scale of 1 to 10. A trip to remember. Don't miss it.

Ruben was amazing. Friendly (like everyone in Portugal) and very knowledgeable and patient. He went out of his way to accommodate some limitations we had with walking long distances. The place he recommended for lunch was right in the ocean and the Seafood Rice was fabulous.

It was a perfect experience. The guide was very knowledgeable and brought us to exactly what we wanted to see. He also respected when we were done and returned us promptly to our hotel.

There is never a dull moment when you’re on a tour with Pedro. He talks about the places you’re visiting, he talks about Portugal - its history, its climate, its people, its food - just a friendly and highly entertaining tour guide. We covered the places that were on the schedule and he found us the most delicious seafood place for lunch. Enjoyed ourselves and would come back for more Pedro 👍

Ruben was absolutely amazing. He picked up promptly at our hotel and spent the entire day with me and my friend. He showed us the most beautiful coastlines and was very knowledgeable of the area. He even took pictures of us. Very friendly and personable and took us to a delicious lunch.

5 stars for Reuben! What a gem! We went with our toddler and another couple and cannot express how great Reuben was with our child and being the most gracious host. Great tips, not too intrusive, and we finished our day off with a beautiful sunset in Caiscais. Picture perfect day with an amazing guide! Would recommend all day long!

On our first full day in Lisbon we were picked up by our private Tour Guide, Joao, who came to our hotel and took four of us off to Sintra and Cascais for a memorable day of site seeing and Portugal history. Joao took us to the National Palace of Sintra built around the 11th century under Moorish Rule. The history tour continued as we walked through the fully furnished palace with the Galleys Room, Chapel, Kitchen, the Swan room, the Patio and Grotto overlooking the beautiful gardens. We were then taken to a beautiful restaurant right on the ocean. After lunch we went to Cabo da Roca and then Cascais and both were beautiful places to visit and gave us a chance to see other coastal areas of Portugal. It was a full day and a wonderful way to start off a vacation.

Spectacular guide and experience. Ruben was friendly, knowledgable and masterful at navigating the difficult and crowded areas and terrain around sintra and cascias. He took us to some many incredible places even coming to get us with umbrellas when it started raining. The best way to see these areas of Portugal no doubt!

Seeing the castles in Sintra and the beautiful harbor of Cascais were beautiful. Our guide, Vasco was very knowledgeable about everything he showed us.

Our private tour with Nuno was absolutely amazing. Nuno was a passionate tour guide who went over and above to make sure we saw and did everything we wanted to do. I can’t recommend this tour enough. It was the highlight of our trip. Sintra and Cascais are beautiful.

Great excursion and our guide Ruben was very friendly, knowledgeable and flexible. I would have given our experience a 5+ rating but was disappointed in a few things. First, Ruben was late picking us up, but he did extend the time to make sure we saw everything. Second, our vehicle had some mechanical issues. The tires were bald and needed replacement. The bigger safety concern was that our van had one side door that didn’t open at all and the other sliding door wound up breaking the latch halfway thru the day a would not close/lock shut. To keep it closed, I had to manually hold the door in place so that it didn’t fly open when accelerating or climbing a hill. The final issue we had, which was the most disappointing, was that at the end of the excursion we made arrangements with Ruben to extend our tour for the next day. He committed to picking us up in the morning but never showed up and did not answer any of our text messages. Not sure what happened but would have appreciated an explanation and better communication. It’s a shame, because we really enjoined the first day’s activities and spending time with Ruben.

Vasco was wonderful! As a local, his knowledge of the backroads and short cuts came in handy in the hustle and bustle of Sintra. He skillfully maneuvered his vehicle through crowds of milling tourists to take us to the Queluz and Monserrate Palaces and the Quinta da Regaleira. We were very impressed with his explanations of how the impact of the Freemasons could be seen in subtle details of the architecture and design. He is a lovely family man who was extremely considerate and caring for my travel companion who is a bit elderly. As a definite plus, he got us reservations at a fabulous seafood restaurant with a gorgeous view of the ocean and drove us back to Lisbon on the loveliest of backroads that only a local would know.

Our our guide, Nuno was the very knowledgeable. We really enjoyed our time with him. I could highly recommend him for any tour. Nuno took us to great lunch. Just a wonderful guide. Thank you.

Ruben our guide and driver was exceptional in every aspect of the tour. He is knowledgeable about Portugal and its history. We were comfortable and fully trusted his driving skills around the narrow roads and the mountains. Seeing the well at Sintra was very special. Pedro was an excellent guide and advised us due to the time restraints to see this instead of the palace. He was right. And he walked us all the way up to the queue for going to see the well and gave us valuable advice on navigating the tunnels. Then we went to the farthest western point of mainland Portugal for the awesome view, and had lunch along the coast to Cascais-also with a fantastic view. A private tour is definitely a good choice because it was tailored to our needs. Thank you, Pedro.

We so enjoyed our day exploring Sintra and Cascais! It is a wonderful way to spend a day! Hugo (pronounced Ogo) was an excellent host and driver! We couldn’t have been happier to have him behind the wheel on those windy, skinny roads! His recommendation for lunch was Toco de Julio (sp?) was amazing but way too much food and wine so be prepared to enjoy! We especially enjoyed the gardens!

Our tour guide Nuno made sure that my fiancée and I had the absolute best day. He was an encyclopedia of information and knew all the secret spots and best times to go to avoid the crowds. He also knew what tickets were worth buying and which ones were not. The itinerary was flexible but we spent time at Pena Palace, Sintra, Regaleira, Cabo de Roca and Cascais. He also found a great spot for lunch based on our preferences. We could not have asked for a better guide and he was a true, welcoming local. The vehicle was very comfortable throughout all the stops and I have nothing negative to say. Highly recommend!

Wow, we had a wonderful day with our tour guide extraordinaire, Nuno. Nuno’s local knowledge of Sintra, all its Palaces and Chateau’s and the surrounding area was exceptional. Peña Palace was breathtaking and steeped in history, while the tour of Quinta Regaleira was both fascinating and mysterious… Nuno’s luxury Mercedes van was both spacious and spotless. Nuno also took us to an amazing ocean view restaurant for lunch with incredible seafood. He was also happy to pick us up from central Lisbon and take us where ever we wanted to go at the end of the day… we also took in the seaside town of Cascais en route back to Lisbon… this is a very special experience. Five stars doesn’t suffice - great value for money too ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

We spent the day with Ruben Teixeira touring Sintra, the Pena Palace and Quinta da Regaleira. It was fantastic. Ruben was extremely knowledgable of the history and has a fun personality. I was specific about what I wanted to see and he was very accommodating, of course making recommendations along the way of additional things to do. He managed the time well so that we could accomplish what we wanted to. He took us to a great place for lunch at Apple beach and helped us select local dishes that were delicious. We also tasted local pastry in Sintra that was delicious. On the way back to Lisbon we took a drive along the beautiful coastline and to a lighthouse lookout point. We also drove through Cascais and different parts of Lisbon, learning about all the things to do there. We talked and laughed the whole time. We could not have asked for a nicer day or guide!

Made it to Templar well and all of the Sintra sites which we found fantastic. A lot of walking up hill so not for the aged or disabled.

Ruben took us on what was the highlight of our time in Lisbon, and possibly all of Portugal! He was prompt and his communication ahead of time was excellent. He was so enthusiastic about the history of Sintra and my husband and I learned so much! We appreciated that he kept the pace up so we could see as much as possible. He even joined us for an excellent lunch by the beach (best fish and rice, hands down!). Ruben was so gracious and kind and he truly felt like an old friend by the end of the day.
