We had a wonderful full-day tour leaving from Lisbon (where we were picked up at our hotel by our fantastic guide, Goncalo Rato). Goncalo’s insight into the area, its history and suggestions about sites to see were invaluable and so enjoyable. We had a great seafood meal, visited Cais Cais, visited the furthest Western point in Portugal and the not-to-be-missed Sintra (where we had a great tour of the outside of Pena Palace) and a chance to visit the Old Town. After spending a lot of time trying to plan our trip to Sintra—taking this tour was the best choice. We didn’t have to worry about any details—everything was taken care of for us, and one of the best parts was that the transportation up the hills in Sintra was convenient and meant that we could spend our time sightseeing rather than walking! We highly recommend this tour and our guide, Goncalo!

Nuno was our guide for the day and it was an excellent experience. His knowledge and detailed explanations of all the sites were incredible! He did something that I had never seen in a tour before. He stopped at a gas station and pulled out a physical map to show us all where we were going for the day. It's a little detail but it meant so much for us to visualize the entire tour in advance. He was very generous with his time and made sure we had a complete, unrushed experience at various tour stops. I learned so much about Lisbon, Sintra, Cabo da Roca, Cascais and the surrounding areas and he provided us with a lot of helpful guidance on what to see after the tour in greater detail. I will definitely use his services again on our next visit.

Gonçalo was a great guide for our private family day-long tour in Sintra and Cascais. First, he picked us up right in front of our hotel. (Not easy since the road is typically closed to cars.) His vehicle was a spacious and comfortable minivan that was perfect for our family. (And Gonçalo is an excellent driver!) We drove to the coast where he showed us several beautiful beaches and a told us about the history of the area. He dropped us off for an excellent lunch at an absolutely picturesque setting, with a stunning view of the coastline. The food was excellent. (See the photo of the octopus which was perfectly prepared.) After lunch we went to Sintra, where Gonçalo educated us about the castle’s history and its occupants. It was a GREAT experience and we all agreed that it was a fantastic day with Gonçalo. Highly recommend!

The person who made this whole experience top tier was our guide Gonçalo. He was extremely knowledgeable about Portuguese history and tying everything together to how it affects present day. My sons (23 and 19) really enjoyed the tour along with the fun facts our tour guide weaved into the conversation. If you can only do one tour while in Lisbon, I highly recommend this one and only if you get to tour with Gonçalo.

We also did a Sintra & Cascais tour with Nuno, and it was just as good – if not better. Same group of 7, same relaxed van setup, and everything ran smoothly. Nuno was extremely well prepared, but also very down to earth. He gave us context and stories without making it feel like a lecture, which made the whole experience much more enjoyable. The pace was perfect – we never felt rushed, but we also covered a lot. Sintra and Cascais are absolutely beautiful, but again, what made the difference was how the day was structured and the overall vibe. It really felt like a shared experience rather than a standard tour. If you’re not sure where to go next, Portugal is an easy choice. And if you end up here, going with Monami Tours is a no-brainer.

He showcased a few sights in Lisbon while allowing a few minutes for pictures and time to reflect on the area. We had plenty of time in Cascais to explore the town. The thing that amazed me most about Nuno Caniços, owner and operator of Mon Ami Tours, is his contagious enthusiasm. Though he repeatedly goes to the same places, he knows his clients are seeing it for the first time and he wants you to have the same love for his country that he does. We wound up booking 2 tours with him. He was introduced to us by our hotel and we liked him so much that we booked a second trip. Our private tours were all to targeted destinations, but just getting there with Nuno is informative as he weaves a fascinating tale while we drive - all the stops along the way you didn't even know to ask about: Cristiano Ronaldo's € 35 million house, the women of 7 skirts where we bought fresh roasted chestnuts and peanuts, a 2K section of Lisbon streets lined with phenomenal graffiti and street art creations, the beaches of Nazare Portugal, their monster waves and the museum that tells their story, the hotel where a James Bond movie was filmed and the museum to honor 007. There were churches and castles and monastaries. And that doesn't even include his asides - his favorite restaurant, his favorite ice cream parlor, his favorite cafe. Nuno has a lot of favorite things. And then there are the views. My goodness, he showed us amazing views. He is perfectly conversant in English and a couple other languages as well. He seems to know everybody and his engaging, friendly personality, seemed to open doors that others couldn't. And while his wife handles the bookings and Nuno is one of the guides, he also has other guides working for him with other specialties: there is the food tour, there is the tour of the inner city on little tuk tuks, (sort of a golf cart on steroids). and there are walking tours. We had an amazing time in Portugal and Mon AmiTours is one of the main reasons why.

Mario is an amazing guide! He provided us with loads of information about different locations as we left Lisbon and continued to do so throughout the entire day. He was very happy to answer any questions we had and we feel we got to know him well. He added such a lot of personality to the trip that it's almost more entertaining than the locations we saw! One of the best things he provided was recommendations and options. He always let us know what to expect and gave us options to make sure our time was spent wisely. As for time, he was great with the schedule. He timed things well between and during stops allowing us enough time to take in the scenery and history. Even as awestruck as we were with all that we saw, Mario was the star of the day!

What a beautiful day visiting Sintra and Cascais! Carlos was a wealth of knowledge, he is a local & was on point with planning and personalizing the itinerary for me. I had the whole van for just myself 😊 We took all day, and covered so much. All admission fees were included, and he took care of all the reservations. Lunch at the restaurant was amazing, could eat there every day. Thank you so much for an unforgettable experience!

We had a great day with Mario on our tour. Mario had so much knowledge to share and to show us. Plus, we were able to see some places(Fortaleza do Guincho hotel) that we otherwise wouldn’t have been able to see. Our lunch at Nortada was wonderful, too. We were able to be dropped off and picked up at anytime making access to things effortless.

Our trip was excellent. Carlos tailored our tour to fit in Sintra, Cabo da Roca and Cascais into a half day. His knowledge of Portuguese and local history was very good. It gave us great insight into the impact that cultural contributions have had on the evolution of this region. The combination of beautiful architecture and at times breathtaking landscape demanded dozens of photographs.

My tour guide Mario was amazing . I spent the day with him exploring the towns along the coast as he explained the history and architecture. He was so funny and engaging and new all the local spots and ways to avoiding queues. He was also my tuk tuk driver the day before as we explored the city of Lisbon! Highly recommend !!
