We had an absolutely memorable trip with Luis Siva of Wondervan travels Sintra! It was so personalised, informative and comfortable! Luis was an encyclopaedia of Portuguese history, culture and present day situation.. we discussed politics, economies, anything at all! Introduced us to some great Portuguese food and desserts, wines, etc… and all along there was no pressure on us to move quickly, he was very relaxed! Completely reinforced our views that people in Portugal really care! I feel they like to connect on a personal level rather than just view everything from a commercial angle! The tour was a joy! Alex made it extra special. He speaks perfect english and grew up in the area so his knowledge is impeccable. I tend to extensively research areas before I visit, yet Alex really impressed me with information I hadn’t read. The history Alex shared brought the scenic views, palaces, beaches and gardens to life! Alex didn’t just drive from one location to another, he weaved a story of Portugal history and I would do the tour all over again!!
We arrived in Sintra with no clear plans and minimal time. We met Luis by pure luck and he took us to the Pena Castle and stopped along the way to give us wonderful history stories. He even took the time to show us Cork trees and eucalyptus trees, as well as other nature tips. He also showed us the Moorish Castle and told us of the many famous people who have stayed in Sintra. In addition he took us to a nice cafe for traditional Sintra sweets and a light lunch. He could not have been more helpful or nice!
Our tour guide Tomas Silva was amazing, kind, fun, and extremely knowledgeable! Our group included ages 4 months to over 70, English and Vietnamese speaking. Tomas showed us so much of Lisbon in the 2-3 days he spent with us. He would rearrange the tour to give us more access with less crowds so we could see the most, made us recommendations then reservations for great food. We were in 2 different buses that were both very comfortable, the drivers were wonderful, navigating the narrow streets with ease. I highly recommend WonderVan tours.

Alex and John picked us up at our apartment and took us to Sintra. Alex was very friendly and gave us a lot of information and patiently answered our questions.. our bus was very good.. and he made our tour one of the best ones we have done so far. We visited Sintra- Pena palace, Quinta da Regelaria ( which was a last minute addition) and then Cabo da Roca.. and finally he dropped us off at Cascais. We were happy to be able to do so many things and not be rushed!

Alex was amazing, knowledgeable, funny and never stopped talking! We heard about him specifically from my friend who heard about him from his friend. He rearranged his schedule for us. He took us everywhere and even though he's been doing this for many years it was not routine/scripted, he was enthusiastic in all his stories and we talked about a lot of other things too. I really enjoyed his love for sharing the history and beauty of his country. We had a wonderful day with Tomas Silva in Sintra and some coastal sites. He was an excellent guide with a great deal of local and historical information along with showing us some wonderful areas near his home town and excellent choice of a small town Portuguese restaurant that amazing local food you wouldn’t find in any tourist restaurant. One of the best tours we have taken. Tomas Silva not only gave a great detailed overview of the area and spots we visited, but he also shared his local knowledge with us which was much appreciated. In May 2023, we spent 8 hours in a private jeep with our fantastic guide Tomas Silva on an amazing trip through Sintra and Cascais. It was the highlight day of our 2 week journey through fantastic Portugal. We loved every minute of it, and had a blast with Tomas who showed us everything! We had 9:30 tickets to the Pena Palace and on our way, Tomas got word that there was a wildcat strike and he had to pivot fast. Within 15 minutes we were travelling down the Initiation Well with tickets he already had on hand for us. And when the strike was over that afternoon, we saw the palace as well. Tomas made us feel like family as we travelled through time and went to the church he was to be married; we waved to his girlfriend the school teacher and we met up with his father in law!, He laughed with us, and made sure we didn't miss a thing. My boyfriend and I were spending our 10th anniversary and our day with Tomas in his WonderVan Jeep was a highlight of our trip. We think of him all the time! Lorne & Danny in Montreal, Canada
What a great day. Andre was our guide on a open keep tour of all the palaces, coastal sites and some post tasting. Friendly, fun, lots of jokes and interesting facts and stories. It helped that the small group was diverse and friendly. Highly recommended, full day activity. Don’t make definite plans for the end of the day as the ending time would need to be flexible due to traffic and queues. Really worth it!

Alex gave us a great tour of Sintra and the coast. He spoke perfect English. Since he is from the area he brought a lot of local knowledge to the tour. He recommended a great restaurant for lunch. Unfortunately the palaces were closed due to a strike but we still had a memorable day.

He picked us up in Cascais, and we were able to see Peña Palace, Quinta da Regaleira, the town of Sintra, and then enjoyed a drive along the coast including an unexpected and really fun off road experience. Alex shared with us his deep knowledge of the area and also shared really helpful tips for the rest of our visit to Portugal. We highly recommend.
Andre was easy to communicate with and very knowledgeable about the area. He balanced making sure we were taken care of with giving us some free time to explore on our own. He made the extra effort to drop us off near our Airbnb. His stories and friendly manner made for a great day all around!
Tonas Silva was our excellent guide, handling a mix of ages 6-70’s. He managed to keep the tour fun, exciting, and interesting for all. Flexible in viewing times, always making sure the head count was complete before moving to the next venue. I sure would book again!

Loved the personalized experience provided by Tomás. Favorite place was Quinta da Regaleira and the well and history behind it. Tomás, along with Andrés who was training with him, were so knowledgeable, friendly, and were able to adapt the tour to our pace and avoid the "tourist traps", and long lines. Because there were just three of us, we could move along at a more active pace . We got to learn so much about the culture and history. Tomas took us to a place for lunch that is where the locals go- delicious food in a residential area of Sintra where he is from. He also had great suggestions for the rest of our trip, what to see and what to avoid. I highly recommend Tomás and Andrés!

Great day with Paulo touring Sintra and surrounding area. His knowledge of Sintra is truly a local thing and the history of the area is amazing. The off roading experience is not to be missed, we went to off the beaten path areas that were breath taking. Would recommend this tour over and over again
