Sintra, Pena Palace & Regaleira Small-group Tour ( Not Tour Bus )

Manuel Franklin was great. Really personable and incredibly well organised. The cakes he recommended were delicious too - and he drove us along the coastal road back to Lisbon.

Very unique experience and Bruno our tour quite was a book of knowledge so make sure you go! Fun fun fun

Viator left us waiting at the check in point with no guide showing up. Later to find out our trip was cancelled.

We had a great experience with this tour and especially with Bruno as our tour guide. Let me put it this way 😅, we truly enjoyed the experience and learned so much! Experiencing the Pena castle, Sintra and more, hearing so much history was so incredible. We would recommend this tour!

We had an amazing day with Miguel. Peña Palace and surrounds were some of the most breathtaking sights I’ve ever seen - the tour was worth it for that alone! (Photos can’t even capture the it!) Miguel was warm, engaging and informative. There was also a great balance between time with the group and free time which allowed an opportunity to take in Sintra - sample the pastries and sit and enjoy a coffee. We also had time for a leisurely lunch also and to even visit the beach in Cascais! It was an incredibly memorable day. Thank you Miguel!

Our guide Bruno was excellent. Well versed in the history of the sights we visited and more. He was able to answer our questions with interesting insights and details. I highly recommend asking for Bruno when doing this tour. The sights we visited were a mixed bag, with some places more beautiful than others. I enjoyed the seaside cliff views and the more natural places we visited. Peña palace was okay but I thought its upkeep could have been better. Overall I’ll give the guide a 5 star and the tour itself a 4 star.

Franklin was an outstanding guide, full of personality and enthusiasm. Very knowledgeable about Portuguese history, economic, culture. The tour was lively and well done.

Starting near the Hard Rock Cafe in Lisbon we were excited to visit the wonderful places in the itinerary. Franklin was our guide. He was amazing and right from the start made sure he not only introduced himself but also asked about each member of the group. He was able to explain about the history and interesting facts about all the places we visited. He even prepared us for the climb and walk, made sure the group stayed together and kept the pace manageable when some of us struggled. His patience and enthusiasm for his job really shines through. 5 stars for Miguel Franklim.

Very pleasant driving and the town visits were all excellent. Very nice balance of town walking, sight-seeing, natural areas, and also shopping and lunch.

Miguel, knowledgeable in history and well connected within the community, has made this tour impeccable, from the penalized small-group conversations to ensuring the group secure the front of the line without losing any time of exploration. I needed to use the restroom at lighthouse area but didn’t have cash, Miguel generally gave me coin to use… I am very grateful for this wonderful tour. Quinta de regaleira is definitely the highlight.

Enjoyable day with a knowledgeable guide.

They never showed up to pick us up at the meeting place. Tried to contact them by email and phone no answer. It’s now 7 pm still no email or phone call. Not impressed with the service. Viator contact help line was great to help us out, they tried to contact the local operator and didn’t get any reply.

Excellent excellent tour! Highly recommend if you want to see sintra palace, the village, the viewpoint, the beautiful drive along the coast, and caiscais. Franklin was our guide and we couldn’t have asked for a better guide. He was so knowledgeable and passionate about the area.

We really enjoyed the tour - we are glad we used a tour for this - doing it in your own for this would be a nightmare with all of the hills and the tour made it so easy. Our tour guide Miguel was super fun and made it a fun day.

Miguel Franklin led a great tour and I was amazed with the sights! I didn’t have to worry about anything except being at our designated spots on time. Crowds were manageable for me but it did rain. Our visit to Quinta da Regeleira and Sintra was my favorite portion of the trip.

My wife and I took this tour with Miguel (Franklin) our guide and he was one of the best tour guides we have had. He perfectly blended history with personal stories. It was one of the highlights of our entire trip. He brought the entire group together so we all learned from each other. As a Sintra native he had great recommendations for the surrounding areas and we ended up some spending some extra time there.

My fiancée and I decided to book a tour on Viator so we could see Pena Palace, the Initiation Stairwell at Quinta da Regaleira and Copa da Roca, and we couldn’t have asked for a better tour guide than Miguel. Miguel was personable, lively and knew his history. I learned so many things from him during the tour. On top of that, there was a point at which we got lost from the group at Quinta da Regaleira and Miguel was persistent in helping to locate us and continue with the tour. And I really appreciated how timing/logistics worked with everything. The day was an early start but we ended up avoiding the large crowds at Pena Pace and by the time we were at Initiation Stairwell shortly after, there was no line at all. Would definitely recommend this tour to you!

Miguel ( Bruno) was great. Very knowledgeable about the sights and the history. Good English and Spanish. Personable and friendly. Went out of his way to make sure everyone was taken care of. Organized but gave us enough time to explore and shop. Great driver.

Bruno is a tour guide pro! You will have a fabulous time on this tour with Bruno. You get to see many great sights with the perfect amount of time at each stop, with excellent recommendations. Ten out of Ten! (traveled with 11 yo and 14 yo - and they both loved it too.)

This was a wonderful tour. Our guide, Miguel, was very informative and did a great job! We got to see so much. We didn't stay too long at anyone place, but it gave us the opportunity to see many of the sites and to spend a little time at each. Be prepared for a little hiking/hill climbing. It was more strenuous than we anticipated, but well worth it. I highly recommend this tour rather than trying to navigate it all by yourself.

We had a very pleasant experience on our tour to Sinatra. Miguel is personable and obviously experienced and knowledgeable about the area which also happens to be where he lives.

This trip is amazing! Our tour guide Miguel Franklim is excellent. He speaks very good English, funny, and very I informative. I really like that he took us first to the Palace Pena and got us in before the wave of tourists started pouring in. The time limit he gave us is perfect for each stop. Each restaurant and dessert places he recommended were spot on. We also did a scenic view of the ocean on our way back to Lisbon. Me and my husband really enjoyed this tour. We will book this company again amd hopefully get Miguel again.

We had a fantastic time, and Miguel was extremely informative about teaching us about his native Portugal. He told so many facts and anecdotes about the past and present that I hope that I can remember half of them. I especially enjoyed the discussion about the great earthquake that destroyed Lisbon, and the manner of rebuilding. Interesting discussion about Salazar’s dictatorship and how it was not all bad. The castle in Sintra was most interesting and his telling us about Ferdinand’s love for Maria and his love for Portugal before we entered the castle allowed us to explore and keep what he said in mind. Cascais was a good stop for lunch and minor shopping. The wife enjoyed that. A great time was had by all on our van, eight people.

Bruno helped us navigate through the crowds and gave us a lot of information about the sites. Even with a full day, I only wish we had had more time! Bring a jacket.
