Itinerary
Visit to the Pena Palace terraces and Park, one of the best representations of 19th century Romanticism in Europe. Being the second-highest point in the Serra de Sintra (over 500m above sea level), it will amaze you with its unique architecture and spectacular views. King Ferdinand II - the king-artist - fell in love with Sintra, and following the purchase of the property, decided to build a unique castle and park, with 500 plant species from all corners of the world. The palace incorporates Manueline and Moorish architectural influences, that together will give you an atmosphere of “a thousand and one nights.”. An unforgettable experience (choose 1 of 3 options to Pena Palace: 1- Tickets not included / 2- terraces & park (viewpoints, terraces, only not entering rooms) / 3- Pena palace interiors). Guided tour at the exterior of the palace, according to monuments rules
In the center of Sintra you can either stay in the village, view the National Palace or walk to visit Regaleira (tickets not included). Also, a great option is to stay, and enjoy the wonders of this beautiful medieval little town, walking the narrow streets, feel the local atmosphere and then grab a coffee and try local pastry "Travesseiro".
Regaleira is a 19th century Villa, known as Palácio da Regaleira. Located in the center of Sintra, it was bought by a Portuguese businessman who was fascinated by secret orders such as Freemasonry and the Templars. Regaleira was transformed into a palace surrounded by gardens, lakes, caves and enigmatic constructions, symbolic places, typical of secret societies and rituals. A unique monument influenced by Romantic, Neo-Gothic and Manueline architecture. To visit Quinta da Regaleira, please book as it gets sold out in advance. Book 11h30 slot, on the official shop: regaleira by blueticket. Please note Regaleira's visit requires walking from the Sintra centre, and once inside it can be a bit steep - doable if you are used to walking. In case you cannot book, visit will not be possible, but you can still pass-by and see the exterior.
Sintra National Palace is one of the most important royal palaces from the 12th century, built by the moors initially, and later further developed and expanded during different monarchs' reign. This was one of the most important political centers, during the discoveries of the 15th and 16th centuries. It has the most relevant moorish ceramic tiles collection in Portugal.
We will stop at Cabo Roca, the westernmost point of continental Europe. After your Sintra's visit, you will stop here to take pictures, get a bit of fresh air, and relax.
Cascais will amaze you, with its mix of a little fishing village, together with the sophistication of a place where kings and queens would spend part of their summer. Time to relax and enjoy the views
A quick view of Estoril, where kings were living and spies would come to meet during World War II. Fancy James Bond? You will know a bit of history also.

Rui was fantastic guide. Great way to cover los of ground and plenty of time for photos shopping etc.
David was a great guide. Communication was very good! He was personable and very knowledgeable about Portugal and the places we went!
best tour ever! great from start to finish, a beautiful 9 hours tour, well spent, from pickup to Pena palace, Sintra and Cascais - we particularly enjoyed the "end of the world" in roca. The best was really our great guide - Paul was friendly and a great historian. Book it now!
I thoroughly enjoyed our small group tour with Filipe as he was extremely knowledgeable on Portugese history. He gave us plenty of time to explore the different towns that we visited. And he always checked that we were comfortable. It was the best decision to join a small tour without the hassle of catching trains & buses to these busy tourist sites. I highly recommend Filipe as your tour guide to Pena Palace & Sintra.
We had an absolute blast on our tour with Edi! He was kind, attentive, and genuinely cared about making sure everyone was comfortable and happy throughout the whole day. Edi feels like an old friend from the moment you meet him. If you're planning a tour, book with Edi - you couldn't ask for a better guide!
We had a wonderful day exploring Sintra with Filipe. He was friendly, welcoming and very knowledgeable about the area. The tour was well organised, enjoyable and full of interesting places and stories. Filipe made us feel very comfortable throughout the day, and we really appreciated his kindness and enthusiasm. It was a lovely experience for both my daughter and me. Highly recommended! Thank you, Filipe, for such a memorable day!
David, our guide was exceptional, explained so much throughout the tour. Arrived at Pena for the first intake so it was not very crowded and it set the day up as we seemed to get to every stop ahead of the masses. No stress at all for us with a pick up and drop off at our hotel. Really enjoyed the whole day.
We enjoyed our daytrip with Pedro who is knowledgeable (kept asking us if we want to know more (haha) and we liked to joke with him and tease him) and easy to get along with. We were a group of 6 that day. The pickup point was really close to our Airbnb and the whole ride was smooth and pleasant with a lot of stories and laughter in our van. It was a great way to do a day trip when you have limited time but would like to explore more spots in Lisbon surroundings.
Well the tour itself was fine and the guide was nice. EXCEPT that a friend and I had each booked ahead for this tour and on the morning of tour 2 guides showed up at our hotel. They told us Viator contracts out to local guides and we had been given to two different tour groups. We each had to travel alone as they wouldn’t change anything. We had so looked forward to this and the day was spoiled. And there was room in my van for another person. Then when we got there I had a ticket for the inside of the palace and stood in line. Guide gave me a screenshot of my ticket so he could go with the rest of the group. When I finally got up front my screenshot was not accepted as my ticket and was asked to get out of line! Then I had to find my guide. At that point I just walked around by myself. In Sintra I also walked around and ate lunch by myself. Needless to say I did not really enjoy the day. The palace and Sintra were actually beautiful. It was just my booking experience that proved unfortunate.
Filipe was proactive in communication for picking up. It was a small group and the van was comfortable. Filipe was informative and gave us enough time to look around and enjoy the places. Thank you Filipe for making our holiday memorable!
The small group tour with Phillipe was excellent! He was an excellent guide, with a wonderful personality. Plus, he was very knowledgeable and informative. We thoroughly enjoyed both Palaces. They were remarkable!
Our tour guide Edi was fantastic, very knowledgeable. The tour was wonderful. Highly recommend this tour.
A really great day trip with a small group. The pick up point was just a three minute walk from our hotel. Great idea from Édi our guide to start at 8am pick up as Sintra area gets very crowded during the day. Édi stopped at a lovely cafe (great value) on the way to allow our group to eat and grab a coffee. The palace is beautiful and well worth the walk uphill from the carpark but there is also a shuttle service there if needed. Édi gave us all the information about the palace and the vegetation from all over the world that exists on the huge estate, on our way through the grounds. The interior of the palace is also worth visiting because of the fabulous ornate decor and collection of gifts gifted over the years. From there, on to Quinta da Regaleira, another fabulous palace nearby. Despite the crowds, this is a very peaceful area with many walking trails and much to see. Édi also gave us a great insight of it's history, things to notice and experience before we entered. We were given plenty of time to have lunch in Sintra town with recommendations and maps sent to our phone from Édi. Next on to Cascais (the riviera of the area) but stopping at Cabo da Rocca, the most westerly point in Portugal, for many people believed to be the end of the world. On our way back into Lisbon, Édi gave us all the essential information and history of the city and recommended areas to visit and places to eat and including walking maps which he later sent to our phone when we got back to our hotel. This was an excellent day trip with great memories but the highlight for us was our guide, Édi. We could see how passionate he is about his beautiful country but also about meeting people. Always has time to listen and loves taking questions. A very careful driver and very well respected amongst his fellow guides as we witnessed on many occasions during our day. Thank you Édi and a great pleasure to meet you. A and M Ireland.
Pena palace is fabulous and Regaleira totally worth the visit. Only thing is that people should be aware that there is a lot of uphill walking.
Edi is extremely knowledgeable that all aspects of Portuguese history and the various palaces and other locations we went to visit today. He is very personable and conscientious, He provided a lot of recommendations for local non-touristy,restaurants. fado places, His English is excellent and he has a good sense of humor. Highly recommended!

Amazing tour of Pena Palace and Sintra with Edi. Absolutely lovely guy and so very knowledgable on Portuguese history. The day was the best part of our trip to Lisbon. Even saw dolphins at the coast. Cannot recommend this day out more, five star.

Excellent Pena Palace trip with very knowledgeable David as your guide. He was excellent and friendly and very helpful. Highly recommended trip.
Edi is a superb guide. He was on time and professional. He is a safe and knowledgeable driver. He knows so much history it is amazing. He also knows shortcuts and tips that help the visitor enjoy the experience. His English is excellent and he knows a few other languages. He was upbeat and quick to answer questions and make sure everyone had a safe, comfortable, and memorable experience. He also provided extra info in pdfs on places in Lisbon and Porto. I think if you want to book a great tour guide in Lisbon or Porto, consider Edi.
Pedro was amazing! He was a wealth of knowledge and had great social skills. The day felt like my friend was taking me around and learning the history from an expert. The sites were breathtaking and had a wonderful time.
Great tour. Very knowledgeable and professional!
Loved the tour! Having a small group makes a difference on being able to move quicker and spend more time at each location. As well as more time speaking with the guide. Our guide Filipe was extremely knowledgeable and I enjoyed learning about Portuguese history from him.
Pedro was a wealth of knowledge and made the entire tour fun! He went the extra mile for us. Would definitely recommend!
An Unforgettable Day in Sintra — Felipe Was an Incredible Guide! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This was an absolutely fantastic tour and one of the highlights of our trip to Portugal! From start to finish, everything was wonderful. We got to experience the beauty, history, and charm of Sintra and its surrounding areas, and the entire experience was made even better by our incredible tour guide, Felipe. Felipe was truly outstanding! He was knowledgeable, friendly, professional, and passionate about what he does. He shared fascinating stories and historical insights that made every stop more meaningful, while also making sure everyone felt comfortable and enjoyed themselves throughout the day. His personality and enthusiasm really made the experience special, and it was clear that he genuinely cared about giving us the best possible tour. The itinerary was excellent, and visiting the beautiful sights around Sintra was an unforgettable experience. The small-group format also made the tour feel more personal and enjoyable. Everything was well organized, and we were able to appreciate the destinations without feeling rushed. If you’re visiting Lisbon, I highly recommend booking this tour with Moovearound and asking for Felipe if you can! He is a credit to the company and made an already beautiful day truly memorable. My wife and I had an amazing time, and we would absolutely recommend this experience to anyone visiting Portugal. Thank you, Felipe, and thank you, Moovearound, for such a wonderful experience. Definitely five stars! 🇵🇹
Filipe our tour guide was very attentive, knowledgeable, and a great navigator to give my daughter and I a great experience of Sintra. He assisted in great lunch choices, and an overall wonderful experience.
It does require some uphill walking. It was a lovely ride to see all the sites and Pedro our guide was excellent!!!
David was outstanding! Very personable and instantly made my husband and myself feel like we were his friends. The tour was a nice balance of the guide providing information and letting you explore on your own. The pace was perfect and we truly enjoyed our time with David and our 4 other tour mates. Highly recommend!
Some steps and lots if walking. Good for me but older people might not like it. Over all a great experience.
Great day to Sintra and Cascais with Edi. He made sure we got to see the best of everything there was to see with clear instructions when we left his side and follow up maps to get back to him when he wasn't allowed to accompany us in certain spaces. Edi shared his great knowledge of history along the way. He gave tips on best places to eat and shop. Ask for Edi! He won't disappoint.
Small group tour of 8 people, door to door pickup and drop 👍🏼. What should be mentioned clearly is that Regaleira may be a sprint if you want to do justice to Sintra as well. Peña Palace worth seeing but a mixed fruit jam architecturally and collection wise 😅 Cascais is also very nice, the vegan restaurant House of Wonders recommended by our guide 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 Pedro our guide was very prompt, communicative and helpful. He did say that he talked too much 😉😀. But we all liked him
Édi was incredible! He was knowledgeable, funny and kind. It was obvious he was passionate about history and he gave us so much information for things to visit outside of our tour as well. I would highly recommend for anyone looking for tours in Lisbon!
Very well curated 1 day itinerary in Lisbon. I really liked the ease of booking and the timing. It was a group of 8 tourists in total, vehicle was very comfortable and clean. A very good way for me to cover Pena Palace, Cascais and other parts around Lisbon as a solo traveller. Our tour guide & driver Filipe was very friendly & well informed. He explained the history of Pena Palace really well & helped me get some good pictures! He even showed me the way to Pink street during the drop so I could continue post the tour. Highly recommend taking this as a solo traveller or small group.
Had a great time. Was nice to get to Pena Palace early to beat the crowd. Filipe was very knowledgeable regarding the places we visit as well as the history of Portugal itself. Really enjoyed Cascais and could have stayed there longer.
Filip, tour guide, speaks good English and also genuinely friendly and informative. Scenery was beautiful and it was a smooth tour. Definitely would recommend him to friends. Thanks and appreciate his good jokes. Best regards. :)
That it was great and historic. Tour guide was awesome and knowledgable. Places were fantastic! More power
We had a great tour. So many beautiful places. If you see Quinta de Regelia uou won’t have much time to tour village of Sintra but worth it. Our guide Edi was fantastic. Lots of historical knowledge, great restaurant recommendations, easygoing and lots of fun! Really went out of his way to make our day the best it could be. Thanks Edi for a fantastic day!
Pedro was very sweet , very informative on our tour , overall it was very joyful trip !! Thank you Pedro !!
Great tour, we saw everything we planned to see. Our guide, Pedro, is a true professional and paid attention to all the guests! I recommend it!
My husband and I are so glad that we booked this tour. Our tour guide picked us up from our hotel and the tour group was small. We enjoyed getting to know our guide and tour mates! Cascais was beautiful and Sintra was charming. I would recommend getting tickets to the Quinta Da Regaleira and at least entry to the outdoor garden and terraces of the Pena Palace. There are gorgeous views of the mountains and ocean. Let's talk about our guide, Edi. He was so kind and knowledgeable. You can tell that he is passionate about his roots and the history of Portugal. He provided many fun facts and if there were any questions, he happily answered them. He even encouraged us to ask questions! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and would highly recommend this service!
Our tour guide, David, was so friendly, funny, and thoughtful! He shared a lot about Portuguese culture and history, which was really interesting! I had such a lovely day and really enjoyed the tour. Thank you, David!
Filipe was excellent in creating the story and people from long ago. Highly recommend.
We had a short stay in the Lisbon area following my daughter’s participation in the camino de Santiago. We highly recommend this small group tour to Sintra. Filipe was an excellent guide and a native to Sintra. I did not know very much about Lisbon area or even Portugal and I really enjoyed the education and information that he provided. The van was comfortable, there were breathtaking views. It did not feel rushed. We even returned to one of the beaches a couple days later after discovering it on this tour It was nice to have a local put you under their wing and getting to know this beautiful country. I highly recommend booking a tour with this company and Filipe, you will not be disappointed. I plan to bring some family members back and will reach out to Filipe again
