We had a phenomenal experience on this tour! Guy was the perfect guide- you could tell that he cared about everyone having a great time and learning a lot. The sights were beautiful and we covered so much in the day. Highly recommend!
Wow! What a beautiful and memorable tour- the value was excellent for how much it included and our tour guide, Guy, absolutely killed it. Friendly, attentive, informed, and excellent at translating between languages, he really made the experience both enjoyable and informative. My dad suggest I take this tour after spending €30 to get to ONE of these locations from Lisbon. The bus is comfortable and though there was a lot of walking, it was not overwhelming at all and he started us off with a slow morning. Highly recommended!!
Our guide, Gui, was a true professional—polite, friendly, and pleasant throughout the tour. However, it would have been better if we had visited Pena Palace first, so we could have enjoyed more sunlight for our photos. Also, we would have appreciated more free time to explore Sintra and a shorter guided tour of Quinta da Regaleira.
I thought there could have been more history of Portugal shared. The tour guide was good but she kind of downplayed Castle Pena and I thought it was really good.
Pedro was very knowledgeable and guides us very professionally through sintra and the palaces. Driver was great. The arrival prices when starting the tour felt slightly disorganized as there were multiple companies and tours starting from the same exact spot and time
Tour guide Ana was very entertaining and knowledgable - talking to and looking after everyone - a great day full of laughs and learning Order of activities slightly different to what I booked but a lot of walking and travel around timed entrances - glad I booked an organised tour
The tour was great. We had a fantastic full say. Mario was lots of sun! He shared very many interesting facts about the country and its history. The day intense but enjoyable in all ways.
The guide (Mario in Lanetour) was unable to adjust and manage any problems occurred during tours. It caused us uncomfortable for this trip. So I will not recommend to anyone for the tour with Mario and his company Lanetours.
I highly recommend this tour! It was well organized, the pace was good, and you do not want to miss seeing these interesting sights! Our guide, Marcos, was highly engaging! He is extremely knowledgeable about the history of Portugal and shared this information enthusiastically. Marcos made the visits to all 3 locations run very smoothly taking care of our entrance, making sure no one was left behind, and telling fascinating stories. I have to mention the amazing skill of our bus driver, Paulo! There were some tight turns to navigate climbing the mountain which he did with ease. I felt very safe with him behind the wheel. This tour was a wonderful way to spend the day!
Everything perfect. I can fully recommend the trip. Lili the tour guide was really valuable.
Our guide Lili was really good at explaining the sites, and he also created a great atmosphere in a mixed group of people. The driver, Bruno, was always on time and made the trip enjoyable.
Mario was amazing. Very knowledgeable and personable. Also tolerant and humorous. It was a great experience with a super guide.
This was a really nice way to see a lot of Portugal in a short time. Our guide, Liedson, had a great sense of humor and was very knowledgeable. My only complaint is that we were on such a tight timeline that we didn’t really get to explore the beautiful towns we visited. We could have spent another 2-3 hours just exploring Sintra alone but we only had about 45 minutes to grab a quick lunch. This was certainly not our guide’s fault - he did his best with the time that he had to give us. If we were to do it again, we’d opt for a separate tour of Sintra/Pena Palace with a good amount of downtime to explore.
First off, the tour is very fast pace considering the amount of all the places you are visiting, which I will agree are worth it and very beautiful . That being said our Tour guide Ana was not very warm. She has been a tour guide for 10 years but whenever you asked a question for clarification she would roll her eyes which made the 31 of us feel uncomfortable to ask her to clarify where and when we were meeting at a certain place. Also she started out the tour saying there 34 of us and she is only only person. When we ended the tour she left 3 people at different areas of the tour. Some of the people in our group, not traveling with us but in the tour group had mobility issues and she would walk at a very quick pace and basically leave them scrambling. I think this tour should have 2 guides just because of the amount of people .
Marcos was great. He is very knowledgeable and a great communicator. He made sure we were on time and made this experience worthwhile. Definitely recommend
Marcos was a super guide, charming and very informative. We had a good relaxing day despite all the walking ,😎 our driver Carlos picked ys up in good time too. Thank you fellas. Simon and Alison
Overall, the places that we visited, they’re beautiful, but getting at a pick up point, they couldn’t find our reservation and we were put on a bus with Italian and Spanish translation, even though we booked the English one. So that made it very hard for us to understand. I feel like we were very isolated from the group. Our guide would speak in Italian regarding a topic but then not provide the English translation for us. We felt we missed out on a lot of the information provided.
Pick up location was not clear & no one was there 15 minutes before pick up time as required. It was supposed to be all English guided tour, but Portuguese tour group were added and the bus was too crowded, cramped and hot. (Not enough a/c). Guide's English skill was okay at best and he seemed to be inexperienced. Overall, the tour(Lanetour) quality was less than expected.
First of all this is a good value and all the scary talk about it being steep is nonsense. There is plenty of shade too and the coaches were the right side. The driver was AMAZING. I want to acknowledge that it’s a lot of work to do these trips and keep up with all the moving parts of accommodating people and keeping up with them. That said, and with sincerity, it was mayhem at the meeting point. SO MANY PEOPLE and no one there early to sort us all out. We had to query each other, No roped off area and no promised signs. Our guide was a woman. She had to have given her name but she had no Mike and she was no nonsense in the beginning. With so many people I’m sure she was trying to get the job done but she did not set the stage to truly welcome us. To be fair, she did warm up later. The other audible issue was that she was soft spoken on the bus and without a proper mike to project her voice we had to really strain to hear her. Impressively she spoke 5 languages. Still, she was caring and attentive to detail. And I would recommend this excursion. I have taken time to write this review so the company will listen and hopefully heed in order to stand out.
Excellent guide Forgot his name has long Curly hair Young has explained all our trip to us Very knowledgeable
Worst experience ever dealing with this company !! Needed a last minute rescheduled with no success , told us there was nothing they can do about it !!
We had a wonderful day seeing the sights in Cascais and Sintra. Our guide Guillerme made it outstanding! He was fun, energetic, extremely knowledgeable and translated 3 languages seemlessly. Lots of great photo opportunities, some uphill walking but not too strenuous.
The guide’s explanations were clear and detailed, and we had a great time throughout the day.
It was a pleasure day. Big thanks for Marcos.
Our guide was Marcos Lins (Lanetours) and we were so happy to have him! He was super friendly, funny and explained everything very well. We knew what to do and where to go in every new place and met the schedule as planned. Also his recommendations were very useful and he worried about us having the best time. Thank you very much!
Clay was a great driver and Marcos was an excellent tor guide. Very knowledgeable about Portuguese history. He was kind and very helpful.
We booked an English speaking guide. Our guide spoke English and French. The problem was we were on a bus with the tour guide who also spoke Portuguese and Spanish. The other guide did all the talking. He was very passionate and seemed very informative. Our guide however, didn’t say much and when she did it wasn’t great.
Yesterday, we had the pleasure of exploring these amazing locations with Gui as our guide, and what a wonderful experience it was! Gui was the perfect guide—intelligent, funny, polite, and incredibly knowledgeable. Every stop was beautiful, and his personal insights and stories made each location even more special. We also enjoyed meeting fellow travelers from all over the world during the bus ride, which made the experience even more memorable. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Lisbon. It’s a fantastic addition to your vacation!
Wonderful tour. Our tour guide was Liedon (Lili). He was very knowledgeable, patient and funny. Our driver Paolo was great too. Enjoyed every bit of it.
We had a fantastic day out on our Tour of Sintra, Pena, Regaleira, Roca & Cascais. With an early start we travelled, what felt like fat and wide to visit these scenic places. I didn't even mind the walking because we had Lili as our guide who was amazing and so engaging and Paulo our driver! Would most definitely recommend for an adventure filled and walking filled day!
The overall experience was nice and we did get to see a lot of sights but it was so disorganized and chaotic. This one is going to be a long one. The day started with the guides being late to meeting point 1. We were told to be there 15 mins before 8 am to check in and not miss the bus. We kept looking for the yellow/blue flag, and could not find it. Well, that’s because the guides did not even show up to set up until 8:00. Then, came the roll call for each language group. Each guide read out the names for the group of people that went with them. We’re talking 30 plus names. They didn't really announce that this was what they were doing. We all put the pieces together as it was happening. We were in the English group, and were trying to see when we would be called slightly panicking that the buses would take off. It turns out the English guide was running even later. When they finally arrived, people had lost patience and started approaching them to make sure their name was on the list. We had to wait several minutes before we confirmed we were on the list. After that was finally settled, we finally got to board the bus. We didn’t take off from point 1 until about 8:30 and we still had the 2nd pick up point to get to. On the bus, came the second surprise. We booked the English group, but due to the organization, our group ended up being English and Portuguese. That meant our guide had to say everything in two languages! I mean everything. It made the bus rides pretty boring since we had to wait “our turn.” It might sound silly but I don’t understand why we were given an option to choose then ended up in this situation. I felt terrible for the guide, too. They definitely lost the crowd early on. That led to other issues with having clear directions. There was a lot of back and forth with what we were told was going to happen and what actually ended up happening. We were given free time in Cascais and Roca. I think that worked out great! People came back to the bus when we were asked. Then, we finally made it to Sintra (btw, this was supposed to be the morning location but it ended up being lunch). When we arrived we were told we had until 3:15 before our next location. We were going to have a 1-hour lunch, then meet at 1:15 to headed to the palace. Totally fine! We all headed to the palace for the first part the guide tried to keep us together. I don’t think it was necessary after we got through the gate. We knew we had to be back by 3:15. Keeping us together was extremely hard as everyone wanted to take pictures in different locations. We all ended up having to wait for each other, and there was a lot of the palace gardens we didn’t get to explore. After the well, it got really messy. Some people did it quickly and waited around, some went ahead, and some were super slow. Some of us tried to wait but eventually went on our own for a bit. As you can imagine, the guide lost track of everyone. We didn’t stray too far, so we were able to catch up. But then, the same thing happened again after the interior palace tour. I sympathized with our guide, but there was so much wasted time just waiting for one another. We didn’t leave because I was afraid to lose the group completely. Eventually, the half of the group that was left, walked back to town together. We waited there for a while, I’m not sure why. We figured the rest of the group went back to the bus. When we finally headed back to the original meeting point for 3:15, we saw the rest of the group that had gone back and been waiting for an hour! They were, rightfully, extremely annoyed. The drive to the next location was slightly awkward. I think a lot of people wanted to headed back to Lisbon at this point. They definitely did not want a repeat of what just happened at the next location. Unfortunately, our guide tried to keep everyone together again instead of giving us a time frame and meeting point. At one point, the palace workers told our guide that she couldn’t come inside, so we did end up separating. By now, one lesson was learned, we created a WhatsApp group to communicate! This was a game changer, but way too late in the game. If you made it this far, I completely recommend doing a sightseeing tour of these locations! We loved each one and got some amazing pictures. However, I don’t recommend Lanetours. Way too disorganized. We spent half the time worrying about logistics and our tickets were not cheap. There are so many tours to choose from! Book early and pick a different place. We did a different tour that gave you an ear piece to listen to the guide. This would have been great for this tour. Choose with caution if you don’t mind a little chaos.
Wonderful tour with Sara today. It was the best tour in Portugal so far. She was so kind , energetic, and knowledgeable. It was the perfect day.
This was an amazing day! Marcos was knowledgeable, friendly, and had a few good jokes! Paulo, our driver, was also great! He navigated the tight, narrow roads up the steep mountains with precision! Be prepared to walk up a lot of steep hills, which is good for your body, but you need good shoes! You can consider a shuttle at the palace too. Overall, fantastic!
A great day seeing the area beyond the city. We visited the most westerly point in Europe and pretty towns, as well as the palaces. Marcos was a brilliant guide - very knowledgeable, funny and managed to keep our large group together and to timetable - thank you. This trip involved a fair amount of walking although the pace was reasonable.
Saw some amazing sights and architecture and learned so much Portuguese history. Very informative tour with Marco our guide, and well managed for such a large group. A long hot day doing just over 15000 steps so wear appropriate footwear and take lots of water. Very worthwhile trip.
Pick up was lowkey very chaotic with all the different tour buses but Marcos was the best!! Kept us all entertained and informed. He did a great job of making sure we were all on track of the schedule.
We had an incredible experience on our Sintra tour with Lane Tours! A huge thank you to our amazing guide, Marcus, who was articulate, knowledgeable, and made the history come alive with fascinating anecdotes. Beyond his expertise, Marcus showed extraordinary kindness and patience. Traveling with a child with special needs, Marcus was deeply accommodating when our pace differed from the group. He shared practical tips to make things easier and made our son feel truly valued and capable like everyone else. Thank you, Marcus, for an educational, enriching, and joyful experience! With gratitude, The Edri Family.
Marco was a fantastic guide. Made sure our group stayed together and was accommodating. We were exhausted from Regalia and couldn’t walk more to Pena; Marco recommended we take the shuttle for $4.50 round trip, which turned out great. Marco was also accommodating with those that had tickets and no tickets and gave good recommendations/instructions to each group. Bus had AC, no chargers, but was clean. The meet up was very confusing though. The email confirmation said to meet at 7:45am to check in but no one from the tour company was there or in yellow at that time. They didn’t bring out the yellow flag and start checking us in until 8:05am. The meetup could be improved.
Had a very enjoyable trip! Everything went smoothly, the guide (Margarita) was very knowledgeable and made the trip a fun experience!
A really good experience with our guide Mario Gonçalves that made this day smooth, enjoyable for everyone and with explanations all along the way. It was also very well organised. I warmly recommend this tour✨️
Really great experiance, and the best guide Mario!
I have a great experience with this tour. Ana was very informative.
We loved all that we saw but some of the logistics could be improved... Signs at pick up would have reduced the chaos(ie Sintra-English, having the tour guide cover 2 languages made for longer stops, bathroom breaks would have helped and the very full bus made it challenging to see and sit together.
Not worth the cost. Just go to Sintra, the other stops are not worth the price of this tour. Also tour itself is not recommended.
My mom and I had a very nice time. The tour guide Margarida was informative and very friendly. She did a great job keeping a large, multi-lingual group on task. The tour all together was around 10 hours and the cost was very reasonable.
Mario Goncalves was great, loved the “theories”
Mário Gonçalves is the best guide ever. He was funny, helpful, kind, engaging and informative. He's absolutely goated.
Great tour, really recommend it, Mario was very good with time management and very friendly.
Mario was an amazing guide! Made the experience very valuable and enjoyable! Highly recommend.
