Setubal & Comporta Trip With Horseback Riding From Lisbon

The open market with an incredible display of fresh fish; the ferry ride and finally the wonderful horseback ride on this amazingly pristine, empty beach. Not for those looking to race, but as an experienced horsewoman, found it very entertaining and perfect for beginners.

Amazing tour led by Francisco from World Experience through Setubal and Comporta. He was so knowledgeable, warm, funny and great company too. Then, a picture-perfect, fun horseback ride with Joanna was and experience we won't forget!

Despite Workers Day closings in Setubal, Comporto was fun to explore and the horse riding was fabulous. Gentle horses, 90 minute ride with 1/3 of it on the beach. George was our guide and excellent.

What an experience. By chance it was just the two of us and Francisco was a wonderful guide. The market in Setubal was an authentic experience and the horseback riding was so relaxing and beautiful. It is 1-1/2 - 2 hours on a horse but it went by so fast. Highly recommend.

A horse is not a horse until you ride it and it’s not a story until you ride him on a beach. Let him do all the work while you enjoy the ocean colors from dark to light blue to wave white. Make your story livid and your hind sores real to let everyone know you, not Clint or John, did it.

Amazing experience, the horse riding on the beach was an inedite experience and the views were breathtaking. I would definitely do this again!

Was a great day. Afonso, our guide, was fabulous. He took the time to get to know us and our interests then made sure to point out things we would be interested in. He was a fountain of knowledge about Portugal and the area. Only suggestion would be to add a 30-minute stop at a local restaurant or add a picnic lunch before the horseback riding. Also, while the option to purchase photos for 15 euro was nice, the photos don't live up to the samples (for example, the samples show people riding beside each other and we were told we had to stay in a line). Minor detail that was beyond the control of the photographer. Most of the riding is spent getting to and from the beach, with about 10 minutes at the beach, but it was still a great ride.

We had a lot of fun. My first time riding was very enjoyable. The views of the beach and the ocean were wonderful! The driver took us to a couple of towns and markets which were also very interesting. The local sweets were very delicious.

I was a first time rider and very nervous. They made me feel comfortable and took care of my safety. Mr Artur was our tour guide he drove us around and shared a lot of insights about the city! Would highly recommend:)

Arthur was wonderful and the horse ride was so beautiful. This trip had a lot packed into it for the short time. My only suggestion would be to shorten the market time or remove…while it was cool to visit an hour was a lot of time and it didn’t seem to add value….it would have been nicer to have some more time on the beach.

First of all I want to say our driver, Arturo, was personable, professional and a very nice, helpful person. Our leader on the horse ride was also very professional and a good leader. However there are two things about this excursion that Viator needs to be aware of. First of all I feel the excursion being labelled as "horseback riding on the beach" is very misleading. We spent less than 5 minutes on the beach. And the trek to get to and from the beach was too long (3 hours or so). Secondly, I was disrespected and mistreated by the owner of the horses when speaking to him about one of his horses who suddenly sat down (twice) while being ridden. I am happy to provide you with details, if you wish. For these 2 concerns, I would not recommend this trip.

The tour was very nice and Arthur was a very friendly guide. I enjoyed the experience and and the tour overall. The time went by so fast and the horses were very calm and easy to ride 😊

Was a long drive for 1 1/2 hour horse ride and only 5 minutes of it on the beach. The ferry was great as was our driver . We had 15 minutes at the fish market and 3 hours in the car

Great experience with Flavio our guide who was very professional and attentive. The horseback riding on the beach is simply spectacular. Perfect for beginners but also for advanced riders. The landscape is SPLENDID!!! 100% recommended. This is an unique experience that you should try.

Loved this tour!! Our guide, Flavio, took the time to make the trip to Comporta even more spectacular by highlighting the beauty of his country. The horseback riding was so much fun and I felt secure all the time. This experience not to be missed by any nature lover.

Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. It all started with the fact that we couldn’t go by boat and we couldn’t see the beach. Then there was also the fact that we were only on the beach with the horses for 5 minutes and we could not take photos. We took photos, but they wanted to charge 15 euros per photo. You had to always be in line and you couldn't walk away from the tent. I didn't think the people there really knew what they were doing. I sat on the fastest horse and had to walk behind everyone else. So it was very tiring for me and nothing fun. Then we went to the fish market, where we couldn’t eat anything because everything was slowly closing and there were not many options. We also went to a castle where no one could tell us anything. In short, it was a waste of money for me.
