Private Tour To Sintra From Lisbon - Palaces, Gardens & Coast

I really appreciated the advice I received before this tour. It helped me choose the best way to spend our time. My husband and I spent the day with Rui, an excellent tour guide and driver. Very personable, easy to understand, and incredibly knowledgeable. We saw Pena Palace (outside; no way we would’ve stood in the insane line to go inside), then to the town of Sintra for lunch, on to Monserrate Palace (beautiful grounds!) and ended at Cabo da Roca. It was a pleasure to be able to be picked up mid-morning at our hotel and have our own dedicated tour guide and driver.

Out guide, Nuno, was very knowledgeable and personable! He made our trip a delight. We learned so much about the history and current day life.

We thought we would get a your either of the Castle of the Moors or of another UNESCO site for which Sintra is famous, for example, La Pena Palace. We were disappointed with Biester which the driver recommended

It was a nice private tour. The guide was on time and gave us little tricks and recommendations getting around Sintra.

Our tour with Nuno was great!! He is knowledgeable, very friendly & personable! When we mentioned that we were driving to Porto, he even gave us some restaurant tips along the way, as well as some recommendations in Lisbon! The Pena Palace was beautiful & we got there before the crowds. Nuno recommended skipping the inside of the palace since only 4-5 rooms inside are open to the public and the wait time to get inside is very long. He dropped us off in the town of Sintra, recommended a pastry shop & told us to take some time shopping. We didn’t feel rushed at all!

Great trip, driver was wonderful and very knowledgeable. We had a person with mobility issues and he had very good recommendations and dropped and picked us up at places that were accessible for that person.

Rui worked extremely to give us a great experience and he succeeded. He picked us up on time . He asked us what we were interested in doing but also made suggestions . He told us what to expect at each stop. He picked us up promptly at each stop . We toured the Palace of Pena from the outside . He gave us a wealth of information during the drive. We loved the stop at the western most point of Europe . Highly recommended tour !!

Our group of 4 senior adults with some walking limitations scheduled a senior-friendly private tour of Sintra. Rui, our guide, was excellent at customizing the tour to maximize our sightseeing given our interests and limitations. He was knowledgeable, interesting, and accommodating. The tour was fun and informative.

Guide Rui collected us from our hotel and whisked us off to Pena Palace, on the way giving us lots of information, history and invaluable tips for our 8-hour personal tour. We really enjoyed our time with Rui and felt in very safe hands. The personal tour for us was the ideal as we were not part of a large noisy group, and was flexible so we could take longer at some places we visited than others, our favourite was the fascinating UNESCO Park and Palace of Monserrate

Nuno was our private guide for a full day. On our drive he was personable and very informative of the area. Before dropping us off at the palaces that we were interested in seeing, he would give us the history of it with pictures and directions on best way to tour it. He would wait for our text to pick us up and take us to the next location.

Nuno gave us a great opportunity to visit and explore Sintra. He shared lots of interesting background and history during our afternoon together. We requested that he drive us back through the beautiful seaside areas of Cascais & Estoril, which he graciously did. Nuno was informative and had a fun sense of humor. We especially appreciated pickup and drop off at our hotel. Thanks again Nuno, for a fun afternoon! (Highly recommend)

We thoroughly enjoyed the personal experience with our guide, Julia. She picked us up from our hotel and took us to her favorite palace in Sintra, Pena Palace. She was most knowledgeable about the history of Lisbon, Sintra and the palace. All her suggestions for an easy and friendly trip were perfect. Our travelers of 3 would highly recommend this tour and guide.

Our guide was the best we have ever had, great knowledge skilled driver, superb English. The way he covered history/society/the locations was outstanding. Perfect event could not improve on it.

We had a group of 5 and Nuno as our guide. He was great! Nuno had a lot of information and could speak about everything from historical references to pop culture. We took him up on his recommendations that included a great restaurant (that he called and made reservations ahead of time for us) and some sites that we really enjoyed, especially Monserrate which was impressive, but originally had not planned on seeing. Would recommend!

We had a great day on this tour. We chose the 5 hour option which was perfect for us. We visited Pena Palace, Sintra and the coast, including the Cabo da Roca lighthouse and a drive back through Cascais. Rui (our guide) was wonderful. He recommended against visiting the inside of Pena Palace, which was great advice due to the extremely long lines on the day of our visit. We enjoyed the gardens and walking around the palace. Rui was very helpful and was always waiting to pick us up. Although we had multiple stops, it was an easy day. Rui is very well-educated and provided a lot of interesting historical insight on our trip.

Joao was an excellent tour guide and a super driver. The car was very comfortable, and he was very patient, especially in the terrible traffic jam on the way back to the ship.

Our guide, Nuno, was excellent and very knowledgeable about all aspects of Portugal. We enjoyed his sense of humor and all of the suggestions he gave us for making the most of our time in each site. Pena Palace and our walk through the gardens was amazing. Sintra is a charming town and we only wish we had more time to explore. It was great to be able to customize our tour for the 6 in our group and Nuno was very accommodating of our preferences and needs. Definitely recommend this tour.

Highly recommend! We did the half day tour to Sintra, Pena Palace and coast. Can’t say enough good things about our guide Nuno! He was full of useful and historic information, he made our visit flow effortlessly from point to point. We felt like it would have taken us two days to do all the things we did in a half day tour. He knew how to navigate each stop so that we had the best experience. We never felt rushed, we toured Pena palace, got lots of beautiful photos and enjoyed the gardens on a lovely walk back to our meeting point. We toured the old town of Sintra where we enjoyed the most delicious pastries and visited some lovely shops. Nuno shared so much about the history and local culture of each area all while keeping the day rolling smoothly. Finally, we got to enjoy the views at Cabo da Roca! This tour has been the highlight of our visit to Portugal so far! Thank you Nuno!

We booked a 5 hour tour, and had time to see the grounds of Pena Palace and enjoy some pastries in Sintra. Our guide Nuno was wonderful, and was able answer all our questions about the history of Portugal, as well as describing the highlights of Sintra. I would highly recommend the full day tour if you have time!

Very knowledgeable tour guide, went beyond scheduled time to accommodate us driving past Guincho Beach which we asked to see on way back to hotel. If you have a scheduled tour planned this day like we did for Quinta da Regaleira you need to account for travel time and traffic so you’re not rushed

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ More Than a Tour of Sintra — A Day Experiencing Portugal We had an absolutely fantastic private tour of Sintra with João Cunha, and he turned what could have simply been a day of sightseeing into one of the most memorable days of our time in Portugal. From his friendly message that morning letting us know he was on his way, João was professional, personable and incredibly knowledgeable. We explored Sintra’s historic center, Monserrate Palace and its beautiful gardens, Cabo da Roca — the westernmost point of continental Europe — and, of course, made the essential stop at Casa Piriquita to sample Sintra’s famous pastries. What really distinguished João, though, was everything that happened between the destinations. As we drove, he shared the history of Portugal in a way that was interesting, conversational and easy to follow. He didn’t just tell us where we were going; he helped us understand the country we were visiting. One of our favorite touches was his introduction to Fado. João shared some of his favorite Portuguese artists, including Sara Correia, Mafalda Arnauth, Mariza and Ana Moura. We now have a whole new Portuguese playlist — and a soundtrack that will always remind us of this trip. 🇵🇹 The private Mercedes was comfortable, the day never felt rushed, and João struck exactly the right balance between guiding us and giving us time to explore on our own. If you’re visiting Lisbon and want to experience Sintra with someone who genuinely enjoys sharing the history, culture, food and music of Portugal, ask for João. We couldn’t recommend him more highly. Five stars and a fantastic day from beginning to end.

Absolutely the best tour guide we have had on a 14 day Mediterranean Cruise. Joao Salvador Cunha went above and beyond for an incredible journey through Sintra and the coast. Private tour just my wife and I and a very reasonable price. Unlike other tours where you receive 20 minutes free time to walk around, Joao gave us two hours to tour the Biester Estate and grounds and the town of Sintra. The estate tour is fairly new and the tourists don’t flock there. Self guided tour and you feel like you’re the only ones there. It was the 5 hour half day tour where we were picked up and dropped off at our hotel in Lisbon. Ask for Joao to be your driver/guide; the best choice you will ever make for a tour!!

Nuno was an incredible tour guide! He knew all the best places to stop, and gave us great recommendations throughout the day. We visited the Palace of Pena and the Palace of Monserrate, and we had plenty of time to explore the town for lunch and shopping. Nuno made several stops on the way back to Lisbon as well so we could see Cascais and some other cool spots. Overall we loved this tour, highly recommend!!

Nuno was great ! Saw some great sites around Lisbon and Sintra and he was able to tell us some of the history and background of each area. Showed us some hidden locations that were amazing - we never would’ve been able to find them our own! I would highly highly recommend him to anyone looking for a great experience.

Nuno made our outing extra special with all the details—how to access the palace with the shortest wait time, the best photo opportunity for the Moor castle, how to order our pastry and enjoy it in the palace garden in Sintra, etc. The list is too long. He has a wealth of historical knowledge and is very personable. We definitely think it was worth the splurge.

Sintra was beautiful. The palaces and fort are amazing. The history is so interesting and the area beautiful. Be prepared to walk on uneven terrain. The town is a mixture of quaint and historic, and very friendly. The pastries are excellent and regional food delicious, but what really made the trip was our guide, Nomo. His knowledge of history, ecology and the area was very impressive. He was a great guide and very patient. Highly recommend him.

Our tour quide was a wealth of information and clearly very knowledgeable about the area and its history. He shared lots of interesting facts and stories throughout the tour making the experience both educational and engaging. We really enjoyed his enthusiasm and appreciated how much detail he provided His passion for the subiect came through in everything he discussed and we thought he did an excellent job!

Mini gave us great advice on which activity was best for our group. He knew we weren’t interested in crowds, so the majority of our time was at a less traveled castle with beautiful gardens.

We had an amazing time visiting Sinatra, we especially loved all of the info and knowledge shared by our guide Nuno! He was so knowledgeable, friendly and he gave us great recommendations ! Loved it!

We went to two palaces, enjoyed the gardens and a lovely lunch!
